Abstract:
Abstract This article is a contribution to scientific research on this aspect of Krystyna Moszumańska-Nazar’s musical output which concerns the connections between her music and other arts, primarily literature and the visual arts, as well as inspirations flowing from nature, religion, philosophy, and broadly understood culture. The article applies structuralist methodology. The starting point for the analysis of the phenomena in question is the musical work itself, its title and its structure, and in the case of vocal-instrumental works - the content and message of the literary text and the person of its author. In the part of the article which deals with the biography and artistic personality of Krystyna Moszumańska-Nazar, as well as by quoting the composer’s own statements in the text, I draw on the personalistic method, especially highly valued in 20th-century philosophy; this method emphasises the role of the human person and personality in analytic work. In the musicological literature to date there exists no separate, large-scale study dedicated to the subject of non-musical inspirations in the works of Krystyna Moszumańska-Nazar. This topic has been tackled, however, in scientific dissertations dealing with various aspects of the composer’s work. For example, inspirations from the sphere of the sacrum have been indicated by Marek Stefański (2011), whereas Ewa Mizerska-Golonek (1992) writes about inspirations derived from the Biblical text in Krystyna Moszumańska-Nazar’s Song of Songs, and Hanna Kostrzewska (2012) discusses painting as a source of inspiration in the composer’s oeuvre. The main source of information on this subject, however, are the composer’s own statements: her ‘Autorefleksja kompozytorska’ [‘The Composer’s Self-Commentary’]K. Moszumańska-Nazar, ‘Autorefleksja kompozytorska’ [‘The Composer’s Self-Commentary’], in K. Kasperek, Krystyna Moszumańska-Nazar. Abstract:
Inspiration has been an under-studied phenomenon in the interpretation field. This paper presents the results of a systematic literature review of psychological literature related to inspiration, revealing nine characteristics of inspiration. Of particular interest was the contrasting meanings of inspiration as inspired by and inspired to, and that inspiration is transmissible, positive, individual, transcendent, unexpected, and holistic, and requires receptivity, which may be cultivated. Each characteristic was related to the field of interpretation in practice. After this review of the literature, we propose that giving consideration to inspiration-based interpretation may provide useful insights for practice as a constructivist approach to interpretation. Further exploration into the topic is warranted.

Bauge, Jessica M. "Clutch." Thesis, University of North Texas, 2009. https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc12080/.

Abstract:
Clutch is the title of the creative portion of my thesis as well as the name of my theory 'clutch' which I outline in the preface section. The purpose of the clutch theory is to recognize modes of inspiration in the body, heart and mind so that the poet can consciously move beyond passive receptivity to engage inspiration more fully. Mechanically, to "clutch" does not mean to create inspiration, but it is the opportunistic, spirited encouragement of these moments of inspiration and, more importantly, the direction of the artist's own response in moving from inspiration to creation. The clutch process unfolds through three centers: body, heart and mind, where we initially encounter inspiration. And, through a discussion of three notable poets' work, Henri Cole, Li-Young Lee and T.S. Eliot, the relationship between a completed work and clutch as a process further explains the boundaries of each mode.

Abstract:
Tracing the influences and references to the Muses in written language from Ancient Greece through the end of the English Renaissance, I discover transformations and revivals in their usage. There are shifts from dependence on deified inspiration to the development of personal insight. Also, there appears to be a conscious substituting of the Muses with the beloved and Cupid or Apollo. But the Muses' religious significance returns in Paradise Lost. The first part of this thesis focuses on the early Greek writers: Homer, Hesiod, Pindar, Plato, and the Latin writers: Ovid, Virgil, Boethius. The second part addresses the English poetic tradition from Chaucer through Milton. The poets cited for this section are Chaucer, Spenser, Sidney, Shakespeare, Donne, Marlowe and Milton. Presentations of the Muses or a personally chosen muse during these literary periods display conceptions of what originally motivates literary creation. I cover both the epic and lyric poetic traditions.

Abstract:
Plato criticizes poetry in several of his dialogues, beginning with Apology, his first work, and ending with Laws, his last. In these dialogues, his criticism of poetry can be divided into two streams: poetry is criticized for either being divinely inspired, or because it is mimetic or imitative of reality. However, of the dialogues which criticize poetry in these ways, it is not until Laws that Plato mentions both inspiration and mimesis together, and then it is only in a few sentences. Furthermore, nowhere in the dialogues does Plato discuss their relationship. This situation has a parallel in the secondary literature. While much work has been done on inspiration or mimesis in Plato’s criticism of poetry, very little work exists which discusses the connection between them. This study examines Plato’s treatment - in the six relevant dialogues - of these two poetic elements, inspiration and mimesis, and shows that a relationship exists between them. Both can be seen to relate to two important Socratic-Platonic concerns: the care of the soul and the welfare of the state. These concerns represent a synthesis of Socratic moral philosophy with Platonic political beliefs. In the ‘inspiration’ dialogues, Ion, Apology, Meno, Phaedrus and Laws, poetic inspiration can affect the Socratic exhortation which considers the care of the individual soul. Further, as we are told in Apology, Crito and Gorgias, it is the good man, the virtuous man - the one who cares for his soul - who also cares for the welfare of the state. Therefore, in its effect on the individual soul, poetic inspiration can also indirectly affect the state. In the ‘mimesis’ dialogues, Republic and Laws, this same exhortation, on the care of the soul, is posed, but it is has now been rendered into a more Platonic form - as either the principle of specialization - the ‘one man, one job’ creed of Republic, which advances the harmony between the three elements of the soul, or as the concord between reason and emotion in Laws. While in Republic, mimesis can damage the tripartite soul's delicate balance, in Laws, mimesis in poetry is used to promote the concord. Further, in both these dialogues, poetic mimesis can affect the welfare of the state. In Republic, Socrates notes that states arc but a product of the individuals of which they are composed Therefore, by affecting the harmony of the individual soul, mimesis can then undermine the harmony of the state, and an imperfect political system, such as a timarchy, an oligarchy, a democracy, or a tyranny, can result. However, in Laws, when it is harnessed by the philosophical lawgivers, mimesis can assist in the concord between the rulers and the ruled, thus serving the welfare of the state. Inspiration and mimesis can thus be seen to be related in their effect on the education of both the individual, in the care of the soul, and the state, in its welfare. Plato's criticism of poetry, therefore, which is centred on these two features, addresses common Platonic concerns: in education, politics, ethics, epistemology and psychology.

Abstract:
This paper examines the way in which Robert Frost incorporates Dantean ideas and imagery into his poetry, particularly in relation to the pursuit of reason and truth. Similarly to Dante, Frost portrays human reason as limited. Both authors nevertheless present truth as a desire that often drives people’s journey through life. Frost differs from Dante by dwelling in apparent contradictions rather than appealing to a clarifying divine light. The paper considers themes of loss, human labor, suffering, and justice, and it also analyzes Scriptural and Platonic inspirations. It focuses on the image of the journey used by both Frost and Dante to describe the experience of living and exploring ideas.

Architecture is the thoughtful making of spaces. Within the last decades of architectural history the role of the architect in society and therefore of architecture itself changed. Issues such as space and architectural language gain significance.Narrative architects such as Bernard Tschumi, Daniel Libeskind, and others are inspiration for a design-methodology which focuses on the development of an architectural language. The actual project will be the interpretation of the short-story Heat by Joyce Carol Oates. Its analysis serves as basis for the design of an architectural statement.Emphasis is put on the actual design-process rather than on the final design result.

Abstract:
Through the works of Lord Byron and Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, I explored the function of the themes of darkness and obscurity in Romanticism. There was a clear connection between the inclusion of these themes and the rejection of the Enlightenment period, which is what I focused on in this thesis. I discovered that the Romantics found inspiration and beauty in the darker, stranger aspects of the natural world, while rejecting the logical and rational beliefs of the Enlightenment.

Abstract:
When Russian Empress Catherine the Great (1729–1796) wrote allegorical fairy tales and educational materials for her grandsons, as well as an audience of Russian children, she actively partook in transnational traditions, finding inspiration and models in genres that fluidly crossed geographical boundaries in the eighteenth century. Comparing Catherine’s writings for children both nationally and transnationally with other mirrors for princes intended to guide young rulers, allegorical fairy tales in exotic settings, and broader enlightening projects of the time, reveals how her works hybridise different genres and transnational sources of inspiration to create something new and never seen before in Russia. At the same time, the example of Catherine’s writings also exemplifies how writings for a child become literature for children.

Abstract:
Inspirations refers to an evoked state of creativity, which implies motivation, evocation, and transcendence. Traditionally in the literature inspiration is divided to two states such as being inspired by or inspired to. Inspiration is influenced by information and knowledge, nevertheless several studies indicate a positive association between academic major and inspiration occurrence frequency. Previous study results indicate that domain specific knowledge such as visual art has a major impact on visual stimuli processing, reasoning, and evaluation. Although inspiration is claimed to be a fundamental phenomenon on the artistic creativity, its psychological importance has been often neglected. In the current study we investigated the influence of visual art expertise on inspiration frequency, using the Vienna Art Interest and Art Knowledge Questionnaire (VAIAK) and Inspiration Scale (IS). We specified art expertise on the dimensions of art interest and art knowledge. Participants with different art experiences have been gathered (N = 77) and were distributed into three separate groups by their visual art experience acquisition (art experience in higher education, art experience in high school, and self-taught artists). Our main results indicate a significant effect of art knowledge on inspiration frequency, indicating that participants with higher art knowledge scores experience inspiration frequently compared to participants with scores under average. Neither art experience acquisition nor art interest have been found to have a significant effect on inspiration frequency. Our result show evidence for a significant interaction effect between art interest and art knowledge on inspiration frequency. Our results are in line with results from previous studies regarding art knowledge and inspiration state experience frequencies. Although inspiration frequency might be determined by art knowledge, we can conclude that art experience acquisition does not influence inspiration frequency.

Over the last two decades, students of the Russian language have tended to analyse and interpret the texts of literary works in an overly simplistic manner. Such analysis tends to refer only to the text itself, sometimes only to the plot. It was the recognition of this fact which provided us with the inspiration to prepare a new reading-book concerned with Russian literature, which motivates the students not only to read literary works, but also to gain knowledge on how to read, understand and interpret a literary work. Initial feedback concerning the use of the reading-book has shown the concept to be successful.

Abstract:
Nowadays, a lot of companies are faced with the urgency of change in their daily operations. This is especially relevant in modern business development conditions when constant changes are considered critical for a company to adapt to market requirements and the global economic situation. The paper presents the audit of the most famous change management models. Change management is an endless cycle, and it requires a sound vision, plan, time, aptitudes, inspiration, monetary and automatic endeavors to execute the change. Successful change management is a venture and contributes to a hierarchical turn of events. There are a few models of change management available and choosing the right change management model is vital for leading or guiding productive and smooth transitions. The main goal of this paper is to describe the main differences between the well-known change management models by reviewing the relevant literature. The analysis led to the conclusion that it is impossible to pick up an optimal approach to change management. Every approach to change management attracts attention to various aspects of this problem; however, they do not exclude but complement each other.

Abstract:
Abstract Creative spaces have been the subject of study in recent years. Multiple research studies have demonstrated the positive impact that an accurate workspace design has on increasing worker productivity and well-being. However, there are still many questions about the influence of workspace design on creativity and creative work. This paper aims to provide a review of the state-of-the-art about spatial elements (e.g., tables, chairs, whiteboards, etc.) that influence creative work which is carried out in creative spaces such as offices or learning environments. We conducted a literature search within the Scopus database, and we screened and filtered the returned 2214 sources based on their title and abstract. After that, we identified 34 relevant articles, with which we carry a full-text analysis. From selected articles, we extracted: (i) spatial elements present in creative environments and (ii) how these elements influence creative work. We found that most of the spatial elements provide visual stimuli and inspiration, allow people to build things and capture spontaneous ideas easily, and contribute to the flexible use of the space, encouraging collaboration, privacy, or social encounters. The results provide an overview of the current state of the art of creative spaces topic that can be used by researchers, practitioners, and educators to conduct further research in this field and to take better decisions about spatial element choice.

Abstract:
Because of the Holocaust, World War II is the focal point for capturing spiritual experience in the 20th-century literature. How did the transformation of French spiritual literature from the poet Marie Noël in the 1st half of the century to the novelist Sylvie Germain at its end come about? Using examples from their work, this paper shows both authors’ sources of inspiration and highlights the means of expressing spirituality of a person going through an inner struggle. Although the authors describe a dark night, both of them they have a desire to overcome it, to reconcile with God, with the world and with themselves.

Abstract:
The abstraction of biological folding mechanisms can lead to the development of novel foldable solutions for engineering problems. Examples of biological structures that are analogous to foldable engineering solutions are discussed and serve as inspiration for this research effort. Numerous folding mechanisms exist in nature and have not been considered for engineering solutions simply because they are not well-known or studied by designers. These folding mechanisms may provide useful design inspiration for novel engineering applications. To retrieve meaningful biological design analogies, information retrieval techniques are employed and a text-based search algorithm is developed to return useful passages where folding mechanisms in nature are observed. The search algorithm integrates tailored keywords and filtering methods to retrieve passages from an extensive biological corpus. Keywords are established using literature review and WordNet. The search algorithm is validated using an inter-rater reliability analysis and statistical methods for information retrieval. Passages describing biological systems are evaluated and potential engineering applications are discussed to demonstrate the functionality of the search algorithm. Methods for improvement and areas for future work are discussed.

Abstract:
Amid the shift to embrace systems thinking within service design, there is often a tendency to reduce many coexisting systems into one. This paper builds on recent literature that calls for a more mindful approach to working with plurality amid and between systems in service design. Using a research through design approach in the context of Estonia youth mental health systems, this paper presents a framework for holding onto the tensions that arise between multiple logics in new service development and maintaining logic hybridity in the service design process. By exploring how such a framework informs service design decisions and its implications, this research offers inspiration for thoughtfully negotiating plurality in practice.

Abstract:
Since Mo Yan received the Nobel prize and also because he said many times that he considers Pu Songling his teacher, and he on more than one occasion reiterated that he was heavily influenced by Liao Zhai zhi yi, literary connections between Mo Yan and Pu Songling have been discussed by many literary scholars and critics. However, when it comes to contemporary literati, the scope of writers influenced by Liao Zhai zhi yi and those who revere this masterpiece is in no way limited by Mo Yan only. In such dimensions as literary style, approach to subject selection, character depiction and others, Liao Zhai zhi yi in one way or another exerted an influence over other writers. This paper deals with the influence exerted by Liao Zhai zhi yi on the linguistic consciousness, moral concepts and character depiction in contemporary Chinese literature, using Sun Li, Wang Zengqi and Gao Xiaosheng as examples. The clear and polished writing of Liao Zhai zhi yi, being exquisitely melodic throughout, the praise it gives to the persons who put morals and friendship before material possessions and are unwilling to forgo them even faced with the choice between life and death as well as the depiction of female characters — all of this served as an example and an inspiration for Sun Li, Wang Zengqi and Gao Xiaosheng.

Abstract:
This report is the outcome of the project Urban Agriculture for a Resilient Future (FutureUA) financed by the Nordic Council of Ministers and implemented in 2023. In this final report, we discuss the future of urban agriculture across different themes, namely (1) cultivating change in connection with innovation and legislation, (2) cultivating community in connection with culture, and (3) cultivating knowledge in connection with education and science. While the first theme reflects the potential of agriculture to occupy more space in cities and to be perceived as a desirable urban function through innovation and legislative support, the second theme focuses on the known benefits of urban agriculture for building community and fostering social inclusion. The third theme reflects the momentum urban agriculture is gaining in institutional education through the implementation of programmes that respond to the growing demand for systematic knowledge of urban agriculture at different qualification levels. This report is primarily a presentation of seven urban agriculture initiatives that tell stories about how different actors have engaged with or support the practice of growing food in cities. The description of the cases was based on webinar discussions, interviews with the main stakeholders of each case, and study visits. These cases provide the context to show how different actors can engage in urban agriculture and food systems, as well as to discuss their challenges and opportunities and to draw lessons from their practices. The report targets a broad and heterogeneous audience, including planners, entrepreneurs, academics, and the general public, who are interested and believe in the potential of urban agriculture to tackle many of the challenges we face today, such as the climate crises. After reading this report, the reader is expected to gain: - A glimpse of the literature on the benefits and drawbacks of growing food in cities. - An understanding of urban agriculture from different perspectives (e.g., municipalities, entrepreneurs, communities, educational institutions). - An overview of opportunities and challenges for implementing agriculture in cities. - Inspiration for alternative urban futures as the stories told in this report carry seeds for change that can assist transitioning our cities to more functional ecosystems.
