Abstract:
Conventionally, information quality or IQ used in most researches and also in practice as dimensions of characteristics which inherent in valuable information. IQ is characteristic measures based on information production processes. As a result, it may not be a valuable for its users and even for enterprise value. Our approach is to define a new information characteristic based on process of information consumption or usage, called IU as complement to IQ. The characteristics in IU consists of two dimensions ie: (i) conformity on repackaging and (ii) originality on exchange information for users. Parameters for this dimensions acquired using features extraction from IU process in each layer of enterprise management. The paper also describes how to apply the new characteristics practically to provide a higher information values for enterprise.

Abstract:
After recent financial crisis, financial asset clustered and fell together, although there was not significant dependent relationship detected in academic research. lt is an indisputable fact that the correlation and dependence between financial asset and market is far more beyond our current knowledge. On stock market studies, in the current "Big data" world, the complexity and wide variety information calls for research on the particular kind of information and its effect on the stock market. Thus, we could further study the relationship and dependence among financial asset to detect the information diffusion pattern in financial market. To achieve this objective, exiting data sources and analytics required to be improved. This paper focuses on the China characteristic information in the complex information environment, to empirically research on the relationship of China characteristic information with stock market, and further study information diffusion pattern regarding to different China characteristics in stock market. Both cross-seclional and time series data are applied with measuring dependence from micro indicators, and further studied the on the macro level dependence related to China unique phenomenon. ln micro level study, we choose political connection as information which is particular China pattern. By non-parametric analysis, we conclude different political connections resulted in different stock performance. Then we considered stock analyst recommendations as aggregated information proxy, applying event study to test the stock reaction to information controlling for political connection and ratings. We discovered that different political connection affect stock retum both on the lime and scale of abnormal return. ln testing for macro level dependence, we introduce empirical copula approach with stock, real estate and gold market. Our result detected univariate dependence among the three market although they are pairwise independent. Finally, we constructed an agent-based artificial stock and housing market to test the stock market reaction with housing market policy based on China characteristics. Based on the above research, we conclude that China characteristic information do have effect on the financial market from both micro and macro level, and channeled between them. Thus, we need to consider these characteristic in studying China financial market issue

Abstract:
We present two option pricing models, both different from the classical Black-Scholes-Merton model. The first model, suggested by Heston, considers the case where the asset price volatility is stochastic. For this model we study the asset price process and give in detail the derivation of the European call option price process. The second model, suggested by Brody-Hughston-Macrina, describes the observation of certain information about the claim perturbed by a noise represented by a Brownian bridge. Here we also study in detail the properties of this noisy information process and give the derivations of both asset price dynamics and the European call option price process.

Abstract:
This study establishes a multilevel model to investigate how managers can increase team performance and team satisfaction by influencing team members’ communications. I applied organizational communication theory, social exchange theory along with social network theory to a multilevel data set (consisting 37 frontline sales teams in a Fortune 500 company). Two-step interviews and a survey study were completed to test this model. This project made a substantive contribution by providing an in-depth look at the effects of task characteristics and network features (i.e. centrality, tie strength) on formal and informal information exchanges. It showed that formal information exchange led to positive team performance when team diversity in work tenure was low; while informal information exchange led to positive team performance when team diversity in work tenure was high. Informal information exchange also had direct impact on team satisfaction. This study also provided an insightful explanation of how managerial influences (such as clan control and competitive climate) shifted individual formal and informal communications by molding work environment

Abstract:
The increasing share of renewables in the electric grid may have a negative impact on the systemstability to which conventional control methods are insucient. The report focuses on the stabilityof low frequency inter-area modes. Along the development of renewables, power electronics aremore frequently used between the actual load and the grid. Hence the characteristics of the loadsis undergoing a change as well. This report investigates how dierent load characteristics inuencethe damping in the grids. The investigation is performed by a simulation experiment where a modelconsisting of two AC-grids interconnected via an HVDC-link is implemented in two simulation softwareprograms, PSCAD and Simulink. The HVDC-link has an implemented active power oscillationdamping control to improve the damping of the overall system. The report also review which softwarethat is most suitable for the given investigation. It is shown that active power loads contributesto the damping best if they are modelled as constant impedance loads and less for constant powerloads. Reactive loads with inductive behaviour contributes to the damping best if they are modelledas constant power loads and contributes least if they are constant impedance loads. The evidencesuggest that the damping provided by the loads is uncorrelated with the damping provided by theHVDC-link. The simulation software that suited the author's preference best was Simulink. Theseresults contribute to the understanding of how loads inuence the system damping and can be usedin future studies, where it is interesting to know if the load damping is over or underestimated.

Abstract:
Since economic liberalization period, Chinese housing typologies have experienced a dramatical change. From the traditional Siheyuan building type to the current gated communities, which prototype has become the most widespread residential housing type in modern China Cities. At the same time, many negative feedbacks about the city life have been appearing, such as traffic congestion, the loss of street vigor and the one side thousand cities phenomenon, etc, of which gated communities prototype is blamed as one of the causes. It seems that the traditional living habits had been overlooked for purpose of solving the population growth. While through the review of Chinese history changes, we could have a comprehensive understanding of the physical evolution and the social change behind it. The gated communities in contemporary China have their particular socio-political evolution process, which could not be explained directly by Western housing theory. And for the consequence, the unique tradition and the living habit, as well as the characteristic momentums during the developing process have a profound influence on the formation of Chinese gated communities, in both conceptual and materialistic way.

Abstract:
<p>Earthquakes can cause considerable fatalities, injuries and financial loss. The forces of nature cannot be blamed, as the problem lies with the structures in seismic regions that may not have been designed or constructed to a sufficient degree to resist earthquake actions or they may have design flaws. This Structural Engineering Document (SED) concerns reinforced concrete and masonry buildings together with geotechnical aspects and presents in a concise and practical way the state of the art of current understanding of building failures due to earthquakes. It classifies the different types of seismic failure, explains the reasons for each failure, describes good practices to avoid such failures and also describes seismic retrofitting/upgrading procedures for pre-earthquake strengthening and post-earthquake repair and/or strengthening techniques for deficient buildings. Carefully selected photographs and diagrams illustrate the different failure types. This document could be considered as quite unique, as this is the first time such material concerning characteristic seismic failures of buildings has been presented together in one single document. It is intended to be a valuable educational reference textbook aimed at all levels of experience of engineers. It provides background information, ideas, guidance and reassurance to engineers in earthquake regions faced with the task of building a safer future for the public and to protect lives. <p> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/Oddi3VTtxCM" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Abstract:
The monography presents the fundamentals of the theory of construction new-generation modems. Modems are built on the principles of statistical communication theory, based on the use of a random signal (chaos) as a carrier of information. In such a signal, a characteristic function is modulated, which is a fundamental characteristic of a random process. The signal modulation and demodulation method is patented and allows you to create modems with efficiency and noise immunity indicators several orders of magnitude higher than those of the known devices of the same name. New-generation modems immediately improve the technical characteristics of digital IT equipment by several orders of magnitude, since they work without errors in wired and radio channels when receiving one hundred duodecillion of binary symbols. The book is recommended for scientists and specialists in the field of digital communication systems, statistical radio engineering and instrumentation, and may be useful for graduate students, masters and students of relevant specialties.

Full text
Abstract:
Topicality of modeling information transparency is determined by the influence it has on the effectiveness of management decisions made by an economic entity in the context of uncertainty and information asymmetry. It has been found that information transparency is a poorly structured category which acts as a qualitative characteristic of information and at certain levels forms an additional spectrum of properties of the information that has been adequately perceived or processed. As a result of structuring knowledge about the factor environment, a fuzzy cognitive model of information transparency was constructed in the form of a weighted digraph. Structural analysis and scenario forecasting of optimal alternatives of the fuzzy cognitive model made it possible to evaluate the classes of factors, identify their limited relations, establish the centrality of the roles of information transparency and information and communication security in the system built and evaluate their importance when modeling the situation self-development. Information visibility, reliability and availability have been found to have the strongest impact on the system. Taking into account different initial weights of the key factors — information transparency and information and communication security — the study substantiates the strategic ways for economic entities to achieve their goals in the context of uncertainty and information asymmetry, which allows us to use this approach as a tool for strategic management in the information environment.

Soloviev, Vladimir, Oleksandr Serdiuk, Serhiy Semerikov, and Arnold Kiv. Recurrence plot-based analysis of financial-economic crashes. [б. в.], October 2020. http://dx.doi.org/10.31812/123456789/4121.

Full text
Abstract:
The article considers the possibility of analyzing the dynamics of changes in the characteristics of time series obtained on the basis of recurrence plots. The possibility of using the studied indicators to determine the presence of critical phenomena in economic systems is considered. Based on the analysis of economic time series of different nature, the suitability of the studied characteristics for the identification of critical phenomena is assessed. The description of recurrence diagrams and characteristics of time series that can be obtained on their basis is given. An analysis of seven characteristics of time series, including the coefficient of self-similarity, the coefficient of predictability, entropy, laminarity, is carried out. For the entropy characteristic, several options for its calculation are considered, each of which allows the one to get its own information about the state of the economic system. The possibility of using the studied characteristics as precursors of critical phenomena in economic systems is analyzed. We have demonstrated that the entropy analysis of financial time series in phase space reveals the characteristic recurrent properties of complex systems. The recurrence entropy methodology has several advantages compared to the traditional recurrence entropy defined in the literature, namely, the correct evaluation of the chaoticity level of the signal, the weak dependence on parameters. The characteristics were studied on the basis of daily values of the Dow Jones index for the period from 1990 to 2019 and daily values of oil prices for the period from 1987 to 2019. The behavior of recurrence entropy during critical phenomena in the stock markets of the USA, Germany and France was studied separately. As a result of the study, it was determined that delay time measure, determinism and laminarity can be used as indicators of critical phenomena. It turned out that recurrence entropy, unlike other entropy indicators of complexity, is an indicator and an early precursor of crisis phenomena. The ways of further research are outlined.

Lubkovych, Igor. METHODS OF JOURNALISTIC COMMUNICATION. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, March 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.30970/vjo.2021.50.11096.

Full text
Abstract:
Journalistic communication is professional, its purpose is to obtain information and share it withthe audience. A journalist communicates when he intends to receive information directly from the interlocutor, from documents that the interlocutor has, or by observing the behavior of the interlocutor during the conversation. The most common method is communication in order to obtain verbal information. In the course of communication, a journalist succeeds when he adheres to politeness, clarity, brevity. It is important that the conditions of communication must be prepared or created: a place of communication, participants of communication, demonstration of listening skills, feedback. You should always try to get documentary evidence of what you have heard. An active reaction to what is heard by the journalist should be used to find out how much the interlocutor understands what is being said. At the beginning of the conversation, when the interlocutor expresses his attitude to the event or problem in question, it should not be interrupted. A journalist, like most people, often makes two mistakes when communicating: perceives as truth what is presented and attributes characteristics. Attribution of the characteristic as a psychological error is known since the beginning of the last century. And the perception of everything as the truth has long been inherent in our society.

Abstract:
The PLAC Network's Pension Indicators are a dataset containing information related to the labor markets and pension systems of the nineteen PLAC Network member countries: Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay. The indicators are divided into five main categories: environment, performance, sustainability, society's preparedness for aging and reform, and pension system design. Each one of these categories are divided into a few subcategories as well. These indicators were constructed with the objective of becoming an important tool for the improvement of the following aspects of pension systems: coverage, sufficiency of benefits, financial sustainability, equity and social solidarity, efficiency, and institutional capacity. An important characteristic of this dataset is the comparability of these indicators since it permits the identification of areas of cooperation and knowledge exchange among countries. The dataset is accompanied by a User's Manual, which can be found in this link https://publications.iadb.org/en/users-manual-idb-plac-network-pension-indicators

Abstract:
This report summarizes results of the basic research project “Infrasound Propagation in the Arctic.” The scientific objective of this project was to provide a baseline understanding of the characteristic horizontal propagation distances, frequency dependencies, and conditions leading to enhanced propagation of infrasound in the Arctic region. The approach emphasized theory and numerical modeling as an initial step toward improving understanding of the basic phenomenology, and thus lay the foundation for productive experiments in the future. The modeling approach combined mesoscale numerical weather forecasts from the Polar Weather Research and Forecasting model with advanced acoustic propagation calculations. The project produced significant advances with regard to parabolic equation modeling of sound propagation in a windy atmosphere. For the polar low, interesting interactions with the stratosphere were found, which could possibly be used to provide early warning of strong stratospheric warming events (i.e., the polar vortex). The katabatic wind resulted in a very strong low-level duct, which, when combined with a highly reflective icy ground surface, leads to efficient long-distance propagation. This information is useful in devising strategies for positioning sensors to monitor environmental phenomena and human activities.

Zarillo, Gary, Sara Ramos, Kristopher Effinger, Kristen Becker, Irene Watts, Katherine Brutsché, Brian McFall, and Douglas Krafft. Evaluating cross-shore sediment grain size distribution, sediment transport, and morphological evolution of a nearshore berm at Fort Myers Beach, Florida. Engineer Research and Development Center (U.S.), March 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.21079/11681/43780.

Full text
Abstract:
Navigation channels are periodically dredged to maintain safe depths. Dredged sediment was historically placed in upland management areas or in offshore disposal areas. Florida state law prohibits placement of beach fill sediment that contains more than 10% by weight of silt and clay, which is typically a characteristic of dredged material. An alternative is placement in a nearshore berm. Some potential benefits of nearshore berms include wave energy dissipation, reduced cost of dredging and shore protection, and possible onshore movement of the berm material. This study considers sediment distribution, morphological evolution, sediment transport, and shoreline trends along Fort Myers Beach, Florida, related to the nearshore berm constructed in August 2016. Due to timing of the field study, this report also includes information on the influence of a major hurricane that impacted the area. The overall conclusion of this study is that the dredge-sourced sediment in the berm performed as expected. Within 2 years, the berm adjusted to the shoreface environment, maintained a large part of its original volume, and contributed to protection of the beach and shoreline. The impact of Hurricane Irma included a shift in sediment textures and a large but temporary increase in shoreface sediment volumes.
