Full textWe propose an unfolding technique for verifying concurrent infinite-state systems that are well-structured. Some properties of interest such as boundedness, coverability and termination are decidable thanks to the well-structure of these systems. Moreover, the unfolding effectively reduces the combinatorial explosion by exploiting the partial order between events of concurrent systems. We propose a modelization using event structures for basic well-structured systems, such as counters and communication channels. As the unfolding of a synchronized product of event structures is an event structure, we obtain a hierarchical approach to modeling as well as to verifying systems, which preserves the well-structure. Finally, we propose a technique for eliminating redundant events. The implementation of our approach in the ESU tool allows us to conclude on its efficiency
Liang, Hutian. "The crossed product of C(X) by a free minimal action of R." Thesis, University of Oregon, 2010. http://hdl.handle.net/1794/10938.
Full textIn this dissertation, we will study the crossed product C*-algebras obtained from free and minimal [Special characters omitted.] actions on compact metric spaces with finite covering dimension. We first define stable recursive subhomogeneous algebras (SRSHAs), which differ from recursive subhomogeneous algebras introduced by N. C. Phillips in that the irreducible representations of SRSHAs are infinite dimensional instead of finite dimensional. We show that simple inductive limits of SRSHAs with no dimension growth in which the connecting maps are injective and non-vanishing have topological stable rank one. We then construct C*-subalgebras of the crossed product that are analogous to the C*-subalgebras in the studies of free minimal [Special characters omitted.] actions on compact metric spaces with finite covering dimension. Finally, we prove that these C*-algebras are in fact simple inductive limits of SRSHAs in which the connecting maps are injective and non-vanishing. Thus these C*-subalgebras have topological stable rank one.

Full textThis thesis investigates complexity and computational issues in two parts. The first concerns an issue related to web services composition problem: Deciding whether the behaviour of a web service can be composed out of an existing repository of web services. This question has been reduced to simulating a finite automata to the product closure of an automata set. We study the complexity of this problem considering two parameters; the number of considered instances in the composition and the presence of the so-called hybrid states (states that are both intermediate and final). The second part concerns closure systems and two related issues; Maximal extension of a closure system : we give an incremental polynomial algorithm that computes a lattice's maximal extension when the input is a binary relation. Candidate keys enumeration : we introduce the notion of key-ideal sets and prove that their enumeration is equivalent to candidate keys enumeration. We then give an efficient algorithm that generates all non-minimal key-ideal sets in a polynomial delay and all minimal ones in incremental polynomial time

Full textBorcherds’ [Phi]12 function is a modular form in 26 variables for the orthogonal group O+(II2,26) and the character determinant, of singular weight 12, it was constructed by Borcherds in 1994 together with the automorphic products theory. It determines the Fake Monster Lie Algebra, which plays the fundamental role in the proof of the Moonshine Conjecture. [Phi]12 is also a reflective form (its zeros are hyperplans of orthogonal reflections in O+(II2,26)). Many examples were constructed by Borcherds, and Nikulin has proved there is, in principle, only a finite number of reflective modular forms. Gritsenko and Nikulin classified reflective modular forms in the case of maximal lattices of signature (1,2) (1998-2002). Other important examples of reflective forms of singular weight were constructed by N. Scheithauer (2000 - 2005). The classification of reflective modular forms is a very important question, such forms have many applications in different fields of mathematics and physics : in the theory of Kac-Moody algebras, in algebraic geometry, in string theory... In this thesis, we describe a new class of reflective forms related to the Borcherds’function [Phi]12. The signature of the orthogonal groups we consider goes between (2,3) and (2,25). All the forms we obtain are quasi pull-back of [Phi]12. This arithmetic method gives more than 60 reflective modular forms, the first of them being the Siegel modular form of weight 35 constructed by Igusa in 1964

Full textIn this text, I will look at some new approaches that may shed some light on the Kadison Singer problem, mainly one instigated by Vern Paulsen using dynamical systems in the Stone-Cech compactification of a discrete group. In order to do this, I will try to develop the theory in a crossed product setting, and look at some aspects of it that may hold interest of their own.

Full textThe theory of Siegel modular forms gives us a lot of applications in arithmetic, algebraic geometry and more recently in physics. The subject of this dissertation is motivated bv the construction of a three-dimensional analogue of the eta function of Dedekind, problem arisen in the theory of Lorentzian KacMoody Lie algebras, algebraic geometrv and also in string theory Such modular forms have been bullt bv V Gntsenko and V Nikulin betw\een 1995- 1998 for the full paramodular groups. ln this dissertation, wc answer to this problem for congruence subgroups of paramodular groups we obtain a complete classification of thc Siegel modular forms with the simplest divisor and we produce ail of them. We called them dd-forms (modular forms with diagonal diyisor) Our solution is based on the use of Jacobi forms and two types of liftings. ln 1979, H. Maass proposed a construction of Siegel modular forms by using Jacobi forms of index one. ln 1993, V Gritsenko generalized this construction to Jacobi forms of index t. We generalize these ones to congruence subgroups of SL(2;Z). ln this way, we obtain Siegel modular forms for subgroups of the full paramodular groups. We call such a construction artthmetlc lifting. Then we construct a multiplicative lifting or Borcherds' automorphic product by using nearly holomorphic Jacobi forms of weight 0 and index t for congruence subgroups of Heeke type Gamma0(N). This construction generalizes the one proposed bv V Gritsenko and V Nlkulln in 1998 The dd-forms are retlectives modular forms.Thev have allowed us new proofs of the structure of some graded rings of modular forms

Full textThis thesis comprises one part concerning the union-closed sets conjecture and four other chapters dedicated to subjects related to automatic sequences. In the first part, we give a sufficient condition for a weaker version of the conjecture ($\varepsilon$-union closed sets conjecture) to hold. We also give an upper bound of the minimal maximal frequency for a family of size $n$. In Chapter 3 we prove that the coefficient extraction formula for algebraic series known for fields of characteristic $0$ is a consequence of a theorem of Furstenberg that says certains algebraic series can be written as the diagonals of a rational fractions in two variables. As the theorem is true for all fields, so is the formula. In Chapter 4 we give a generalization of the result of J.-P. Allouche and J. Shallit concerning certain infinite products and block-counting functions. In Chapter 5 we give an explicit construction based on $p$-adic valuation of an infinite word with subword complexity $\Theta(n^t)$. In Chapter 6 we give a new proof of the transcendence of the power series $L(1,\chi_s)/\Pi$, where $L$ is an analogue in positive characteristics of Dirichlet $L$ functions defined by D. Goss and $\Pi$ the analogue of $\pi$ defined by L. Carlitz

Full textCombinatorics has solved many problems in Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science, in return these domains inspire new questions to combinatorics. This memoir entitled "Combinatorics and algorithmics of factorization tangent to indentity includes several works on the combinatorial deformations of the shuffle product. The aim of this thesis is to write factorizations wich principal term is the identity through the use of tools relating mainly to combinatorics on the words (orderings, grading etc). In the classical case, let F be the free algebra. Due to the fact that F is an enveloping algebra, one has an exact factorization of the identity of End(F) = F⨶F as an infinite product of exponentials (End(F) being endowed with the shuffle product on the left and the concatenation on the right, a faithful representation of the convolution product) as follows : first on begins with a PBW basis, second one computes the family of coordinate forms and then non-trivial (combinatorial) properties of theses families in duality gives the factorization. Starting from the other side and writing the same product does give exactly identity only under very restrictive conditions that we clarify here. In many other (deformed) cases, the explicit construction of pairs of bases in duality requires combinatorial and algorithmic studies that we provide in this memoir

We use Weierstrass factorization theorem to evaluate the infinite product defined by some polynomials. Then we apply the result to express some infinite series and definite integral in closed form. On the other hand, we find out the value of Dirichlet L-function for some Dirichlet character X .Moreover, we deduce a new class number formula (where d is positive integer, square free, and greater than 3)

In this thesis, a single-link flexible manipulator having a tip payload is investigated using a linear distributed parameter model. With the joint torque as the input and the joint angle plus a weighted value of tip deflection as the measured output, an exact transfer function involving transcendental functions is derived. A necessary and sufficient condition independent of the parameters of the system is obtained such that the irrational transfer function is marginal minimum phase. The effect of the mass of tip payload on the marginal minimum phase condition is also examined. As for the irrational marginal minimum phase transfer function, the connection between the passivity and the interlacing of the poles and zeros is established. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the irrational marginal minimum phase transfer function to be passive are found. Passivation using the feedback of either the root strain or the joint angular acceleration is also discussed. For the passive irrational transfer function, it is shown that a passivity-based PD controller suffices to stabilize the overall system. The force control problem of a constrained one-single flexible arm is also considered in this thesis based on a linear distributed parameter model. To overcome the inherent limitations caused by the non-minimum phase nature of the noncollocation of the joint torque input and the tip contact force output, a passive transfer function is obtained by using the methods of feedback and output redefinition. A passivity-based PD controller is then designed to accomplish the regulation of the contact force. Since the controller designs of the above approaches are based on infinite dimensional models, the resulting closed loop systems do not suffer from the control and observation spillover problems. Moreover, so long as the infinite dimensional subsystem controlled by a passivity-based PD controller remains passive, the closed loop system has stability robustness with respect to the parameter uncertainties. In order to preserve the exact poles and zeros of the infinite dimensional closed loop system, the infinite product formulation is employed throughout the thesis. Numerical examples are given to show the efficacy of the proposed approaches.

In this paper, we will make use of strict topology and tensor product topologies to show that the space of all continuous linear maps from L infinity tensor product X to Y, where L infinity tensor product X equipped with the topologies Beta, Beta_{P}, and Beta_{i}, can be identified with various spaces of L(X,Y)-valued measures and at the same time characterize their equicontinuous sets.
