Vemos coisas demais.

Abstract:

The sacrilege of Vanni Fucci, the beast of Pistoia, in the Divine Comedy This hermeneutic analysis presents a reflection on the complex nature of the concept of theft in the Christian world, compared to the pagan one. The author develops the idea of the desperate blasphemy of the infernal prisoner as a form of unconscious prayer. Vanni Fucci from Pistoia, the sacrilegious and blasphemous character of Dante’s Inferno, is analyzed by referring to the fundamental difference between the classical and medieval philosophical perception of metamorphosis as a symbol.

Abstract:
Abstract:

Abstract:
This article explores the new generation of nanotech-based therapeutic agents that have entered the fight against cancer. In 2005, a class of albumin-based nanoparticles was approved for delivery of taxanes for breast cancer, and then later for ovarian cancer. Therapeutic and imaging contrast nanoparticles now have a market size exceeding $5 billion per year, and many higher functionality nanodrugs are awaiting approval in the regulatory pipeline. An essential role of nanoparticles in cancer mechanics is in the building of the necessary tools for experimental studies of transport. The research carried out so far on cancer transport differentials has employed nanoparticles as test probes. In order to overcome the multitude of biological barriers, scientists have introduced a system of nanoparticles, designed to address the barriers in their time sequence of presentation called multistage vectors, which consist of nested particles that release consecutively. The level of specificity that can be achieved through the use of the conceptual model of cancer as a mechanical disease—and through the power of the mechanical engineering design process—will result in greater therapeutic efficacy with reduced side effects.

Agarwal, Megha. "Scrounging and Salvaging: Literary Guidance and the Descent into the Underworld in the Inferno, Paradise Lost, Frankenstein and Heart of Darkness." Comparative Critical Studies 14, no. 2-3 (October 2017): 133–53. http://dx.doi.org/10.3366/ccs.2017.0232.

Full text
Abstract:
Socrates, in Phaedo, posits that the route to Hades is far from ‘straightforward’, and that it is riddled with ‘crossroads’ that demand the presence of a vigilant guide. The possibility of multiple routes culminating in the underworld, and the necessity of guidance, form the bedrock of the interwoven analysis of the Inferno, Paradise Lost, Frankenstein, and Heart of Darkness. Amidst the profusion of pathways, the Inferno and Paradise Lost gesture towards a direction that is replicated and repudiated in Mary Shelley and Joseph Conrad's versions of the descent voyage in Frankenstein and Heart of Darkness. Dante and Milton's ‘prototype’ narratives exemplify the descent – or the fall – into hell, and shape the two novels through ‘literary guidance’. Heart of Darkness emerges as an inversion of the meticulously structured Dantean universe. The Pilgrim's progress in the Inferno is a consistent counterpoint to Conradian chaos and Marlow's wilful yet meandering descent into colonial Africa. Dante's Pilgrim emerges from the underworld to progress onwards, while Marlow remains entrenched in the inescapably infernal condition of twentieth-century imperialism. The Inferno is an unacknowledged spectre that haunts the proceedings of the novella, but Milton's poetic re-telling of Genesis is a recognised presence in Frankenstein. Paradise Lost is re-viewed through the perspective of the hapless Monster, who oscillates between identifying with Satan and Adam. Both poets thus dabble in the attainment (or the elusiveness) of salvation, while the novelists struggle to salvage a semblance of significance with which they can imbue their characters' journeys. While 2016 saw several literary anniversaries, a strand that the organisers envisioned intertwining with ‘salvaging’, the year 2015 marked the 750th birth anniversary of Dante, sparking speculation about the present-day pertinence of the afterlife. This interplay between the theme of Salvage and these four narratives ought to provide unexpected insights that complement BCLA's emphasis on renewing critical perspectives.

Abstract:
Genetic diversity and genetic relationships of Czech apple cultivars were evaluated. Trees of 33 Czech apple cultivars and 97 reference foreign cultivars were analysed using the set of 10 SSR (simple sequence repeat) primer pairs. The total of 89 polymorphic alleles were amplified, while the number of alleles per locus ranged from 4 to 14. The SSR dendrogram, based on the Jaccard’s similarity coefficient, divided apple cultivars into three major groups: Cox’s Orange Pippin, McIntosh and Golden Delicious ancestries. The clustering highly depended on pedigree and origin of apple cultivars. Spontaneous mutated cultivars were identical with their progenitors. We proved that microsatellite markers were useful for evaluation of genetic resources, collection management and cultivar identification.
