This Master's Thesis focuses on problems of so called brownfields and possibilities of their usage. It contains the explication of the term and options of brownfields classification. It acquaints with institutions engaging with brownfields problems. It also refers to suitable subsidy programmes that allow to obtain revitalisation benefits for these localities. The goal of this Master's Thesis is to provide basic manual for owners of these localities how to proceed with the conversion process. It illustrates finished conversions and the possibilities of their new usage. In the practical part it describes project in progress of brownfield regeneration of Světovar in Pilsen within the project preparation Pilsen - European Capital of Culture 2015.

This thesis aims to determine the impact of the decline of the major employers in the region Kladno on the local labour market. The work examines the development and causes of changes in unemployment in the region between years 1996 and 2014 and seeks to assess the extent to which historical burden of the region affects the current state of the labour market. For this purpose the thesis is divided into two parts. The first part, theoretical, is focused on the definition of unemployment and development of the Czech economy in economic transformation process with an emphasis on changes in employment structure. It also describes the history of the city of Kladno, Kladno's metallurgy and mining. The second part, practical, includes demographic analysis and the analysis of unemployment and labour market using data from the Czech Statistical Office, Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, strategic documents of the city of Kladno and SWOT analysis. This thesis also includes interviews with experts from local institutions dealing with economic and social aspects of Kladno region, aiming to get the basic building blocks of the analysis and at the same time confirm the conclusions of this thesis.

Hlavná náplň tejto práce je oboznámenie so softvérom GateCycle od spoločnosti General Electric a jeho následná aplikácia na simulovanie industriálneho parného kotla produkujúceho 120 t pary za hodinu. Dizajn práce je vo forme výučbového materiálu, ktorý môže byť použitý vo výuke predmetu procesného inžinierstva zameraného na simulačné softvéry. Prvá časť práce je venovaná krátkej teórii o simulačných softvéroch a uvádza niekoľko najznámejších procesných inžinierskych simulačných programov. Druhá časť je napísaná formou GateCycle manuálu. V krátkosti predstavuje pracovné prostredie a rozhranie softvéru, demonštruje ako vytvoriť a spustiť simulačný model, zadať vstupné dáta a vytvoriť reporty. Tretia časť práce je praktická, vybraný industriálny parný kotol je prezentovaný a následne je vybudovaný jeho simulačný model. Táto časť je vytvorená vo forme príručky „krok za krokom“ vysvetľujúcej ako vytvoriť model kotla a aké dáta boli zadané do jednotlivých procesných aparátov. Kotol je simulovaný v 3 režimoch, využívajúc zemný plyn, ťažký vykurovací olej, či dechtovú vykurovaciu zmes ako palivo a je prevádzkovaný za mierne rozličných procesných podmienok. V závere sú vypočítané spotreby paliva porovnané s reálnymi prevádzkovými dátami a je vyhodnotená presnosť výpočtov softvéru GateCycle v týchto konkrétnych prípadoch.

The factory premises of the former factory OP Prostějov is the challenge for the future generations how to appraise today unused buildings which were build in 1950's. My design is counting with formation of new part of town, which disposes with centralizing the town-hall administration in one place allowing simple moving between individual authorities. Next there is designed the habitation as the small flats for old people and also big flats with interesting view. In some buildings there is designed the business incubator and in other building there is even the school. There are all facilities, services and leisure activities provided in the area. The Museum of Industrial Heritage is located in the middle of all events. It has three parts - exhibition, auditorium and deposit with administration. The old heating plant nearby is used as library and médiatheque with archives in connection with the museum. Shops, restaurants and other services are placed around.

Theoretical part of this work deals with tourism in the Czech Republic and in Ostrava and also with industrial heritage definition and classification, its restoration, historic preservation and how to integrate industrial heritage into tourism.

This diploma project deals with a post-industrial factory area Zbrojovka Brno. It proposes a strategy for its revitalisation and development. On contrary to official studies of one time reconstruction and creation of a residential site, the proposal brings an idea of step by step transformation into a multifunctional city quarter with preservation and new use of original industrial architecture. The strategy has four main phases, which are characterised by addition of functions, metamorphoses of public space and opening of the area and connecting it to neighbourhoods. After the four phases, the area should become a healthy and sustainable city with a compact structure with mixed functions, high quality public spaces linked with greenery, sustainable system of transportation and energetic concept and with use of community sharing.

The aim of the thesis is to revive the former textile factory complex, which is located on a unique place - on the island between the river Svitava and the race. The main idea is to make the area accessible and to use its potential, focusing primarily on the link of history, identity of the place, quality public space and the functional content of the whole area. The concept of the whole work is the planning in time and the gradual phase of integrating brownfields back into the lives of not only local Brno citizens. The island in Obřany could thus become the heart of this city district, a meeting place with a rich cultural life, a space for relaxation, activities and leisure activities close to nature in a charming environment with a touch of Brno's industrial history.

The thesis "Economic utilization of industrial structures with focus on railway stations" analyses all possibilities of sustainable use of industrial buildings with a focus on specific example of the Ţiţkov freight station. Based on the general characteristics of both industrial heritage and brownfields are defined steps which are necessary for the protection of valuable locations without present use. The whole process is described in the context of positive and negative externalities. The most important problem is financing the revitalization of problematic objects. The practical part of the thesis describes the previous issues connected to the Ţiţkov freight station including major studies of its potential utilization.

The supervising teacher of the Thesis chose two bulidings to be the subject of solution, which were used as warehouses of cocoons. These are the biggest buildings of the premises as for the volume, which stand out for their impressing construction and their area (1493,1 & 1486,6 m2). The distance between them is aprox. 125 m. The systém of construction is the same in both the buildings, it is a wooden timber reinforced brick masonry frame in modular size of 3,6 x 6,15 m. The constructive height of street floor of building A is 4,4 m, building B 3,85 m. The clearence of bulinding A is 3,85 m and for building B 3,27m. The clearance of second floor in both objects is 4,84m. The existing inner staircase has one arm and is of 54 cm in width. There is a cargo lift on its … covered by … for the connecting the floor areas. … … of both the building forms together with wooden pillars elements also … . The windows of 160 cm width are set rytmicaly in three consecutive rows, they ensure max lighting of the interior of the buildings. The roofing of the buildings is made from wooden frame structure and covered by tiles. The roof construction is not covered from bottom and therefor they make an impression of one of the most striking elements in the interior. The clean dispositions, the lenght of the halls of 104 m to the adequate width, the clean construction both the brick and the wooden ones, together with impressive lighting, the all form an enormous value resulting in a unique character as a whole.

The protection of monuments in Slovakia is mostly concentrated on „classical“ examples of cultural heritage (castles, historical city centers). It is not paying much attention to industrial buildings, which are important documents of national development in European context from the era of industrialization. These buildings are often also on the edge of public interest, due to their brownfield character, what places then into the great risk. Because many of these buildings are in private hands, it is often complicated to define the protection policy. It is in the interest of healthy development of society to protect cultural heritage as part of its own identity. The thesis is monitoring approaches to protection of monuments in Slovakia, as well as in global context and offers alternative approaches in terms of protection of industrial heritage.

In these days, a new occasion has come. Military and industrial areas, which were always thoroughly separated from the town centres, have been now releasing from their original activity. There are huge free building sites in the middle of the cities, waiting for the urban architects.

'The inspiration behind this project is the new urbanist idea which combines residential development with green spaces for leisure and sport as well as mixed use commercial areas and storage. The layout of the area is a grid formed by 100m squared plots with residential houses with personal yards. These plots are grouped as complexes and between each complex is a communal green space. On the outside of the inner grid, there are mixed use apartment buildings and a high commercial floor. The square is dominated by a smaller multi-purpose building with a fluid outside space in which community events can be organized. Diagonally connected to the square is a park with a playground and an area with patio seating in addition to three villa houses. The park leads to the river embankment, into which tiered seating will be created. Around the hotel, there is another park with a multi-generational playground. In the northern part is located hotel renovated from the original industrial buildings with added ground floor restaurant area. Around hotel there is a park with green space and multi-generational playground. The terrace houses are located in the northeastern part of the complex and feature an attractive riverside view. Row houses line the the main road and are buffered from street noise by a line of trees. Typology and placement of other, separate houses is inspired by colonies of worker-houses eg. Baťa houses in Zlín. In between each ground these is no fence and are only separated a slight depression in the green.

This text is a part of my years long art work. Industrial architecture and mechanical parts, fascination to functions of mechanisms and the aesthetics of industry are for years my hobby. These phenomens became fundamental for my art work. In this work I introduce my creative basis. Their main themes are fundamental changings of human's development. Subsequently I have searched for similar contents used in the artistic world. Particulary I thought about the risks and dangers which the new technical age hides from our site. Technologie from a lot of points of view abbreviates our lives but on the other hand it is also a risk for people who do not esteem the values of our environment, nature and do not think much of their own ephemerality. The didactic part of my work I spent upon playfulness which is for all children natural. Mechanisms, constructions and technologies enable the creation of an abstract world and fantastic beings. The topic of "Industries" offers a rich scale of inspiring ideas for work with children. At the same time we save the concepts of how to combine the cultural and nature's world. It is necessary to educate all in the spirit of living, staying playfull and sensetive at the same time.

This diploma thesis solves processing of a special piece of furniture, namely of industrial soliter, inspired of industrial architecture, specifically of a set of a dinning table. The set is designated for ordinary users to be used to dining options. The main objective is to provide a look the timeless solitaire with commemorated by the issue of industrial architectures. The design is approached as a solitary object which dominates the existing interior. The work is divided into two main parts. The first theoretical part, defines terms such as the history of industrial style in interior, the beauty and the ergonomics of solitaire. The second practical part focuses on the analysis of dinning tables, prototyping the design itself and used materials and technologies, concept, production of a prototype, assembly and calculation of the costs.

This diploma thesis deals with industrial landscape in the visual arts in terms of educational, historical and theoretical viewpoints. In the theoretical part, the author deals with the interpretation of various terms that are related to this industrial issue. At the same time she outlines the development of the industrial landscape, exploration of relationships and attitudes, mostly among the younger generation, to these complexes, and deals with this issue from the aspect of art, such as suggestions or industrial materials. Very interesting and more recent phenomenon is the activity called Urbex, whose interpretation, the world and Czech leaders and its development is briefly explained. Concurrently, this activity is supplemented by visual arts, by the theme of industrial buildings, by industrial material, by memories, by feelings and relation to this landscape of the author of the thesis. In the didactic part, which is crucial to this diploma thesis, the author has developed five preparations for units of teaching in art lessons, where she focused both the use of industrial materials and this theme . The thesis studies possibilities of restructuring of post-industrial cities by closely following and comparing the restructuring efforts of two cities located in the U.S. Midwest, Detroit and Pittsburgh. It studies the consequences of globalizing economy on the area of so- called Rust-Belt, as well as the impacts of the federal urban policies on the older industrial cities located in this area. Through deindustrialization of their economies, both Detroit and Pittsburgh suffered from similar problems, such as depopulation, unemployment, factory closure, and urban decline. Therefore to evaluate the level of success of the cities' transformation, the thesis compares their demographic and economic development. The last two chapter of the thesis provide assessment of Detroit's and Pittsburgh's transformation efforts by focusing on the urban planning and economic restructuralization strategies.

Representation, process, experience: (post)industrial landscape in anthropological-geographical perspective Abstract The main topic of the dissertation is the (post)industrial landscape of what is today the Czech Republic. In particular, the dissertation presents three case studies of three (post)industrial landscapes: that of Ostrava, Kladno and Most. The aim of the dissertation is twofold - thematic as well as theoretical. As far as the thematic focus of the dissertation goes, the author employs the concept of landscape as a prism through which it is possible to explore large societal shifts and changes as they are mirrored in landscape. The question is what has happened to industrial landscape after the fall of socialism and how industrial landscape has turned into what it is now. On the theoretical level, the (post)industrial landscape of contemporary Czechia is used as a means of exploring the complexity of the concept of landscape and developing a conceptualization of landscape that comes to terms with its complexity, ambiguity and elusiveness. This diploma thesis deals with the recreational activities of the inhabitants of Prague and their influence on the transformation of the suburban landscape at the time of industrialization. It characterizes the time period from the mid-19th century to the 40s of the 20th century. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part, it deals with the period of industrialization and, in connection with it, also with the industrial revolution. Further, the work is devoted to concrete manifestations of mass and individual recreation in the 19th century and consequently demographic growth of the inhabitants on the Czech territory, development of the middle class, establishment of the resort and the origin and importance of the Beautification Committee. This diploma thesis is about recreational activities of citizens of Prague in the period from the second half of 19th century through the second half of 20th century. It focuses on the era of industrialization, in which the suburban landscape underwent many changes, mainly thanks to new development of the city. This thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part is dedicated to the terms of industrialization and industrial revolution. It moreover deals with stratification of the society, focusing on the middle class, and describes recreational activities in different resorts. From the recreational activities, tramping and settlement establishing are specifically described. The empirical part is dedicated to two recreational resorts, Karlštejn and Srbsko, which are one train station apart from each other. In each case there is a description of the location of the resort. The description of the original inhabitants, recreational objects, current inhabitants and their important buildings and the cottage areas is following. V předkládané DP, určené k obhajobě na Katedře kulturologie FF UK, jsem se pokusil shrnout důležité aspekty ve vývoji jednoho druhu moderní hudby, který bývá nazýván industriálem, a jeho nejpřístupnější taneční odnoži tzv. Electronic Body Music (EBM). Domnívám se, že zvolený postup ukázal na mnoho zajímavých faktů, které vesměs akademická obec (dokonce i odborná muzikologická) nebere v potaz, přestože je třeba obracet zrak i k nejnovějším a různorodým formám kultury. 84 V DP jsem přiblížil stěžejní publikované práce k tématu, definoval pojem této hudby, představil její historii a význačná hudební alba, přičemž jako případovou studii jsem zvolil slavnou skupinu Front 242, jejíž další přiblížení je též náplní příloh. Důležitou součástí je ukázka, jak funguje EBM tvorba a komunita, v čem je specifická, jací jsou lidé, kteří takovou muziku poslouchají a jaké má tento hudební styl obsahy. Otázkou zůstává, jak by se s fenoménem EBM vypořádali odborní muzikologové, kteří se elektronickou hudbou zabývají na obecnější rovině: "Hudba a elektronika současně jako nový Gesamtkunstwerk nebo komerce a zastírání ne-umění anebo snaha o nové jako výraz doby?" ptá se například hudební sociolog Miloš Schnierer (1995:63). The aim of the thesis is to show the changes and the development of the landscape and the settlement of the region of central Šumava mountains due to industrialization in the 19th century. The thesis is based theoretically and methodologically in the field of anthropology of landscape and industrial archeology. It combines archive written and cartographic sources with non-destructive field research of anthropogenic relics. The industrialization of the area of interest meant the woodworking expansion that was caused by the lack of firewood in Prague and its surroundings and was realized as a business plan by the noble Schwarzenberg family. Schwarzenberg forest exploatation and timber floating system for firewood transport have brought significant landscape changes to hitherto almost untouched mountaneous forested areas. The field research has identified elements of the floating timber system, such as water reservoirs, watercourse troughs or the Vchynicko-Tetovský floating canal, as well as traces of both, permanent and seasonal settlement of woodcutters. The work divides the area into four zones, depending on how they were used, settled and transformed during the 19th century. The greatest attention is devoted to zone no. Abastract The thesis called Analysis of The 5+2 Days Weekly Magazine between 2012 and 2013 in its empiric part looks into the contents structure, its preferred topics and ratios of stories and cases from the defined parametres point of view throughout the period beginning the foundation of the magazine to the parliamentary elections held in October 2013. The analysis deals with the issue of presentation of the Agrofert holding as the magazine is its part and Andrej Babiš from his position of an owner and chairman of a political movement ANO he led to the snap parliamentary elections in 2013. The analysis examines if the fact that its owner is an enterpreneur, owner of one of the bigest Czech companies and a high-ranking politician has any impact on the contents of the magazine. The method used to analyse the contents is quantitative contents analysis. In its theoretical part the paper deals with basic social roles and functions of the media, concepts of free speech and independence of the media. This part of the thesis sees these concepts mainly from the ownership of the media point of view and the ownership's impact on their contents and function. The theoretical part also presents a review of the Czech media environment development after 2008 from the change of the ownership point of view.

(in English): This thesis seeks to examine the state of the fine art in North Bohemia region at the turn of the 20th century. The period is dominated by romantic and realistic landscape art, which was also the domain of Fritz Gärtner. The thesis furthermore illuminates the life of German artists before and after the World War I in this region. The work focuses on Metznerbund group as it is considered the major movement among the German artists within the given period. Following chapters aim to illuminate the state of the fine art in North Bohemia region after the Second World War.The practical part of the thesis examines the life and work of a Sudeten German painter Fritz Gärtner: his early work from his hometown Ústí nad Labem, his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and his first considerable exhibition named Arbeit (Labor). The research provides us with new findings that complement previous findings from my bachelor's thesis, which was focused on interpretation of selected Gärtners paintings, resulting in a complete monography of the Sudeten German painter. The research was based on secondary literature concerning the fine art in North Bohemia region and provides a broad scale of new facts about the artistic creation and life of painters within fine art associations in the 20th century.
