Abstract:
Student attitudes toward science have been one of the longstanding topics in science education research. Even though Indonesia has a unique educational system in which cultural, religious, and cognitive aspects are incorporated in the science K-12 curriculum, a limited number of studies have explored Indonesian students’ attitudes towards science. This research aimed to examine students’ attitudes toward science and the interaction between academic grade level and gender in Indonesian primary and middle school. Thirty items from five components of the BRAINS instrument were administered to 1587 Indonesian students from fourth grade through ninth grade to measure their attitude toward science. Rasch analysis, two-way ANOVA, and structural equation modeling path analysis were used to answer the proposed research questions. The current research found that Indonesian students’ attitudes toward science were significantly affected by academic level, however, gender only affected three components of attitude (control belief, attitude toward the behavior, and intention). Female students showed a higher attitude toward science than male students in general. The trends in every component of the students’ attitudes decreased from primary school to middle school. The present research provides a deeper discussion by considering the socio-cultural and educational history of Indonesia. Keywords: academic level, gender, middle school, primary school, science attitude.

Training on how to complete the listening activities through shadowing was carried out with 43 students. A questionnaire was distributed to find out the students’ views on the suggested listening activities and their opinions to improve them. The study found students’ preferences in practicing listening; most employed 1 or 2 or 3 steps. Most include initial listening, reading, and one of the types of shadowing - silent shadowing with reading or synchronized shadowing or prosody shadowing. None of the students was interested in doing silent shadowing. They admitted that their listening most improved their pronunciation and enriched vocabulary. They expected more lecturer engagement in controlling their listening activity. By better understanding the students’ needs and opinions, strategies to encourage autonomous learning can be improved.

Abstract:
Being able to speak more than one language is beneficial; especially for Indonesian people, those who can speak English are supposed to be bilingual and multilingual. Accordingly, they should speak at least three languages: the Indonesian language, English, and their mother tongue or local language such as Javanese, Sundanese, Bataknese, and so forth. Unfortunately, fewer and fewer Indonesian people speak their regional languages/mother tongue because they have been shifted into Indonesian, especially when children start school. This paper thus investigates language attitudes of university students toward their regional languages, Indonesian and English: how they value those languages, and their use of the languages. To answer those questions, the writer distributed a questionnaire to 22 students from three universities in Jakarta and conducted some interviews with five of the participants. The results indicate that all students have positive attitudes toward those languages. However, the positive attitudes toward the regional languages are not congruent with the language use. Lacking regional language users and its exposure is why students feel difficult to apply their regional language. As for the Indonesian language, it is the most valued and used as the unifying national language. The English language is considered more comfortable for those who can speak English because there is no difference for language users to talk to their interlocuter’s level. For example, in English, the pronoun “you” can be referred to anyone regardless of their age or status. In Indonesian, we have to differentiate between Kamu (you) and Anda (you) depending on whom we talk to. To our parents, we cannot say Kamu nor Anda; but we mention it daddy or mommy, and the like. Finally, while the Indonesian government has successfully implemented Indonesian as the unifying language of the nation (Paauw, 2009), the government is also expected to encourage more on the use of regional languages into the school curriculum to enforce its usage.

Abstract:
This paper examines the language attitudes of Minangkabau people toward Minangkabau language (MIN) and Indonesian (BI) in West Sumatra, Indonesia. The data were collected in the form of questionnaires, in-depth interviews and participant observation with a sample of 200 Adult respondents in six research areas. This research uses a Likert scale with the categories classified into five alternatives (1 = Strongly Disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Uncertain, 4 = Agree, and 5= strongly agree) and there are some tables analyzed based on yes/no questions, no=0 and yes=1. There are twelve questions on the questionnaire pertaining to the attitudes of adults. The results show that the adult attitudes can be classified into three categories, (1) positive; (2) negative; and (3) ambivalent attitudes. The third category is dominant. The term ‘ambivalent” is used for intermediate results. It is shown that the respondents expressed their feeling in both positive and negative comments in the same utterance when answering the questions related to MIN. For these responses, it is seen that there is a mixed feeling where they use “but” or “although” after expressing their positive feelings thereby countering their first statement. The evidence of the ambivalent and mixed feelings from respondents is shown. This means that Minangkabau people tend to avoid the conflict of having negative opinions; they tend to say what they mean in more indirect ways. On the other side, there is a positive attitude in response to the questions about BI. Majority of respondents have very strong positive attitudes towards BI

Abstract:
Indonesian EFL learners face challenges in comprehending English phonemes as it becomes one of the significant predictors of English literacy. Hence, the English Phonetics subject is considered one of the most difficult ones, making the teaching and learning process less effective. Addressing Indonesian EFL learners’ attitudes toward English phonetics teaching is significant to improve phonetics teaching, yet, research on this has not received much attention. This present study was conducted to explore EFL learners’ attitudes toward English phonetic learning. A quantitative approach with survey design was employed involving 112 Indonesian EFL students. The researchers identified students’ attitudes using an adapted questionnaire from Lintunen and Mäkilähde (2015). Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25 was utilized to analyze the data. The results indicate that Indonesian EFL students perform positive attitudes toward English phonetic learning, although they confess that phonetics is challenging. It implies that phonetics learning is potential and promising to support their English fluency; hence, lecturers need to make phonetics Learning more enjoyable, easier and participating in drawing the students' full engagement by considering their preferences and attitude toward phonetics learning.

Abstract:
Poetry can be a device that is rich in meaning in responding to any issues, including pluralism issue. The aim of this research is to elaborate students’ attitudes expressed in their poem on pluralism issues in Indonesia. This research is also conducted to identify and group the responses into three attitudes: positive, negative, and neutral, and into five hybrid categories proposed by Steven G. Yao: Cross-fertilization, Mimicry, Grafting, Transplantation, and Mutation. The research is conducted in five private universities in Jakarta and Tangerang: Bina Nusantara University, Pamulang University, Nasional University, Indonesian Christian University, and Indonesian Al-Azhar University. The result of the research shows that out of 153 poems, most students (65%) have positive attitude toward pluralism. While 16 % of them have negative attitude and only 19% of the respondents have neutral or ambiguous attitude. Interestingly, 36 students (23.52%) use the word “tunngal/one” as a metaphoric medium to express their response, while 33 (21.56%) students use colors to represent their thoughts, 28 students (18.30%) use “bhinneka / diversity” to show their responses, and there are 10 students (6.53%) use “rainbow” to signify pluralism issues. There are strong metaphors found effective in reflecting the students’ ideas such as garden, music, jar, batik, Garuda, salad, and sandals. The strong metaphors, studied in Yao’s hybridization, show all the five degrees of hybrid interaction: two cross-fertilizations, one mimicry, three graftings, three transplantations, and three mutations. It is concluded that the students have positively owned a high degree sense of nationalism in responding to Indonesian plural realities.

Indonesian and U.S. college students were compared to assess whether an interaction of sex of subject by sex of target on attitudes toward homosexuals would be replicated cross-culturally. The Indonesian sample was expected to hold more traditional attitudes toward women's gender-role behavior which was expected to override the interaction of sex of subject by sex of target. Knowledge of AIDS was expected to be correlated with attitudes toward homosexuals. Analysis showed that the interaction of sex of subject by sex of homosexual target was present in both samples. Knowledge of AIDS was correlated with attitudes toward homosexuals for the U.S. sample but not for the Indonesian sample. Attitudes toward women's gender-roles were correlated with attitudes toward homosexuals in both samples.

Abstract:
Critical thinking is one of the essential skills required in all fields in the 21st century. As a response to this need, one of the efforts that Indonesian policy-makers make is through developing Curriculum 2013 which is designed to equip students with the ability to think critically. However, instilling critical thinking skills from an early age without developing an individual’s critical thinking attitudes is not a wise choice. It is because possessing critical thinking skills without having a willingness to use them will be less beneficial. This article presents the results of a literature study on how serious games, as a product of current advancement of digital technology, can be utilised to develop three critical thinking attitudes, namely, willingness to plan, the attitude of flexibility, and consensus-seeking attitude. Moreover, this article also presents three strategies that can be used to implement serious games in Indonesian elementary school context, namely, using ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation) model as a framework for developing serious games, adapting the existing serious games with BYOD (bring your own device) model, and promoting parental and family involvement.

Abstract:
This article is motivated by the concern of the phenomenon of religious-based intolerance and radicalism in Indonesia. Perpetrators of these attitudes and behaviors occur in many educational settings by educated individuals. There have been cases where radicalism happens because schools are developing religious education, which is exclusive and not open to pluralism in society. Therefore, this article develops ideas/thoughts about schools and Catholic Religious Education (CRE) relevant in the context of pluralism in Indonesia to prevent religious intolerance and radicalism. Schools can be pluralism-friendly homes by making them a positive space for diversity and a place for humanist dialogical education. In Indonesian pluralism, Catholic Religious Education helps students know their religious faith and get to know other religions, have a dialogue with the truths of other religions, and even learn from other religions. PAK in the Indonesian context must contribute to building the personality and attitude of students who are inclusive, dialogical, humanist, and fair. CRE should not be used as an apologetic tool for the sake of defending the truth of Catholicism narrowly and exclusively. Through CRE, students are helped to become individuals and Indonesians who are tolerant, fair, and dignified

Abstract:
This paper attempts to look at Singkil students’ attitudes towards their language (Singkil language) and their attitudes towards Bahasa Indonesia as the national language of the Indonesian country. Singkil language is an Austronesian language spoken by aboriginal speakers living dominantly in five districts, namely Kuta Baharu, Simpang Kanan, Suro, Gunung Meriah, and Singkil that are administratively under the Singkil regency of Aceh province, Indonesia. According to Ethnologue, Singkil is a dialect of Batak Alas-Kluet (btz). The method used in this research is descriptive. Data were obtained through a quantitatively analyzed questionnaire for each characteristic feature calculated the average number of values (mean) language attitudes, using a Likert technique. The language attitude of respondents here towards Singkil language is very positive. It can be seen from the 12 questions given are mostly in positive attitude from 2,7 – 4,8. Otherwise, question 8 and 9 are negative from 2 – 2, 5. Therefore, the Singkil students have a positive attitude toward the use of their language. On the other hand, the language attitude of Singkil students towards bahasa Indonesia from 12 questions given are mostly in positive attitude from 2,8 – 4,6. Otherwise, question 5, 12, and 12 are negative from 2 – 2, 3. Therefore, the Singkil students have a positive attitude toward the use of bahasa Indonesia. Thus this study hopefully may reveal how the people of Singkil in several areas extensively use bahasa Indonesia in their daily communication, and the government of Aceh Province should maintain the sustainability of language in Aceh Province especially Singkil language by showing the uniqueness and richness of linguistics diversity in the region.

Abstract:
Background: Nursing students are prepared to deliver care for vulnerable people, including people with dementia. Nursing students tend to have lower levels of knowledge and attitudes toward dementia compared to registered nurses. While there is less evidence that discussed this topic in the Indonesian nursing student's context, it will be necessary to identify an aspect related to knowledge and attitude among students to be considered for improvement in the future. Objective: This study aimed to identify the knowledge and attitudes toward dementia among nursing students in Indonesia.Method: This study was a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. There were 334 nursing students recruited using a total sampling method at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta. Data were collected using the Dementia Knowledge Assessment Scale (DKAS) and Dementia Attitude Scale (DAS). Spearman Rank, Mann Whitney Unpaired, Kruskal-Wallis test, Pearson Correlation, Unpaired t-test, and Unpaired ANOVA were used for data analysis according to the type and the distribution of the data. Results: The median of the DKAS was 24 (min - max = 7 - 40), and the mean of DAS was 99.60 (SD = 10.25). The variables that were statistically significant correlated to knowledge of dementia were age (r = .332, p < .001), class standing (H = 72.253, p < .001), and experience in taking care of people with dementia (U = 3314, p = .047). Meanwhile, only the age of the students was found to have a statistically significant correlation with attitudes toward dementia (r = 158, p = .004).Conclusion: In general, among the nursing students, knowledge toward dementia was relatively low, while the attitudes toward dementia were relatively high compared to other research. Age, class standing, and experience in taking care of people with dementia had significant correlations to the knowledge score of the students. Lastly, age also had a significant correlation with the attitude score of the students.

Abstract:
The background of the research problem is students assume that Indonesian language courses are subjects that are considered easy and do not need to be studied on the grounds that they are able to speak Indonesian verbally, Indonesian has been used in everyday life both in formal and non-formal environments. This reason makes students assume that learning Indonesian does not need to be learned and is not included in the use of international languages as the language of communication between countries. If this continues, it can indicate the students' thinking that Indonesian is not important to learn and understand, thirdly, students assume that Indonesian language courses are only for meeting SKS and not for the importance of learning Indonesian language. If this statement is true then this subject is not yet based on its desire to know Indonesian language learning. The purpose of this study was to determine students' perceptions and attitudes towards first semester Indonesian language learning at IAIN Padangsidimpuan. This research method uses descriptive qualitative approach with this research data collection instrument in the form of questionnaires, observation and interview processing techniques and data analysis of this research is data editing, data reduction and drawing conclusions namely compiling data editions into systematic sentences. The result showed that the students think that bahasa Indonesia is easy to study, on the other hand they still unable to use it whether in daily communication or even in written expression. Their attitude to bahasa Indonesia is still low, it means that they are not care about bahasa Indonesia lesson because they think that it is not important for them, it is shown by inability of the students in writing scientific article

Abstract:
The aims of this study were to discover if the learners of English of UM English Education Department of UM Parepare experience problems in speaking English and if so, why, and what type of attitudes they have towards accents and how these attitudes influence their English speech. This study is a qualitative phenomenological research based on the linguistic phenomenon among Indonesian English learners derived from their learning experiences. The phenomenon in question shows that most Indonesian learners have learned English for 6+ years but still unable to communicate. Most of those learners complained about the ‘obsolete’ method of teaching which has been too focused on grammatical learning and fewer interests on the practical use of English itself. The data was taken from document reviews, in-depth interviews, and direct observation given to the importance of spoken English learning attitude. The findings obtained through interview and question on three level of scholars (fresh year students, sophomores and more senior students, and alumnus). The result of this study showed that most of students get difficult to speak English because of avoiding mistakes and error. This attitude of making mistake was derived from the social pressure situation in pronouncing their accent through the English words. Another finding is, there are many of students have some negative attitudes towards the Indonesian accent in pronouncing English words.

Abstract:
The main objective of this study was to identify the attitudes of Indonesian students towards studying English vis-a-vis their readiness to compete in the fifth industrial revolution era. The data obtained from a four-point scale questionnaire administered to 216 participants from 12 universities across Indonesia were analyzed through a descriptive case study procedure. The findings showed that even though most students had positive attitudes towards EFL learning ( = 3.29) as well as towards Industry 5.0 ( = 3), they did not have the confidence to affirm that they have the instrumental competencies required by the tight competition of Industry 5.0, especially English competencies ( = 2.37). These findings indicate that despite their positive attitudes towards EFL learning, Indonesian students would be possibly not yet ready for Industry 5.0 in terms of their English proficiency. Therefore, it is suggested that policymakers and all education stakeholders take the necessary measures to improve the students’ English skills to ensure that they will be graduates who match the demands of Industry 5.0.

Abstract:
Amid many studies investigating language attitudes, very few studies placing their emphasis on attitudes toward bilingualism. This study sets out to examine how Dayak students react toward two languages (i.e. Indonesian and Dayak Language) that have existed in their surrounding for quite a long time. This study was quantitative in nature, despite containing some elements of qualitative data. The study employed questionnaires that consisted of 20 main questions and 1 open-ended question. The questionnaires then were distributed online to 32 Dayak students studying in university with various discipline backgrounds. The results indicate that Dayak students in this study share a positive attitude toward bilingualism, although the rate varies if we investigate the smaller components of the attitudes. It is reported that the students are very positive in a surficial level of attitudes (i.e. cognitive components), yet slightly low in emotional dimensions (i.e. affective components). Further, the students also seem doubtful to implement their belief and feeling into real action, for example in education (i.e. readiness for action). This paper concludes by summarising key findings and acknowledging research limitations, especially concerning with generalisability and participant’s sociolinguistic aspects.

Abstract:
As the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic spread across Indonesia, good knowledge, proper attitude, and appropriate practices among undergraduate students must be achieved before starting a face-to-face lecture. These are also important since most students are active in social media and can spread true or false rumors regarding COVID-19. This study aimed to assess the level of knowledge, attitudes, and practices of medical and non-medical undergraduate students toward COVID-19. A 51-item online questionnaire was developed and sent to random undergraduate students from different faculties in Universitas Diponegoro, Indonesia. A total of 482 students completed the survey. The Chi-square test showed significant associations in the level of knowledge, attitudes, and practices towards the COVID-19 between medical and non-medical students, where medical students have better knowledge, attitudes, and practices than non-medical students. This study's findings may become the basis for an awareness campaign planning among students in particular and the public in general, which at this time most student activities are still carried out online and to prepare face-to-face lectures and also to deepen the material regarding COVID-19 among students, especially non-medical students, and furthermore, help to guide the efforts and plans of state health authorities for better containment of COVID-19.

Abstract:
The multilingual world demands educational stakeholders to adjust by embracing multilingual pedagogies. Translanguaging is deemed a prominent language practice to be implemented in educational settings, especially in the EFL class. However, the practice still obtains criticisms. Many scholars point out challenges in implementing classroom translanguaging. Therefore, studying attitudes, specifically students' attitudes, becomes significant at this point because it helps to reveal how students' feelings and thoughts of translanguaging practice are based on their learning experience. Further, their attitudes can be considered in the classroom decision making whether to translanguage or not to translanguage. The present study will generally continue what previous scholars have done but in a new context and methodology. This study investigated students' attitudes towards student- and teacher-directed translanguaging in Indonesian EFL classrooms. The participants were 40 grade VIII students from two EFL classes of a private boarding school located in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The data was collected using online questionnaires consisting of close-ended and mainly open-ended questions. The result showed that most students expressed negative feelings toward students-directed translanguaging. Meanwhile, teacher-directed translanguaging was more acceptable indicated by most students who had positive feelings towards their teachers' translanguaging. Students' arguments and comments were also interesting to be noticed. These findings shed light on a multilingual pedagogical practice and further research, which we would like to discuss further within this article.

Abstract:
The objective of this research is to investigate the Indonesian EFL Postgraduate students’ attitudes towards the course of translation. The researcher used a case study method by managing observation, interview, and questionnaire to collect the data. The questionnaire contained 30 items concerning students’ attitudes in terms of behavioral, cognitive, and emotional aspects. The participants in this present study were 11 students of the English Education Department of Postgraduate degree at a public university in Banten Province, Indonesia. The results indicate that the students hold positive attitudes toward the existence and the learning process of the translation course. These can be verified from the results of questionnaires which show that the average scores of positive attitudes for behavioral, cognitive, and emotional aspects consecutively are 74.3%, 80.6%, and 84.4%. These positive attitudes are not only affected by the lecturer-student interaction, but also by the cooperative learning atmosphere and experience that the lecturer and students manage while having a teaching and learning process of translation. Since attitudes can be modified by the experience, the effective translation teaching and learning process can encourage students to be more positive towards the translation course they are involved in.

Abstract:
Interactive online learning requires students’ cooperation. Online cooperative learning focuses on learning activities on group cohesiveness to achieve the highest cognitive level. Students can improve their teamwork skills, problem-solving skills, social skills, self-confidence, academic success, and metacognition levels through online cooperative learning activities. The Online Cooperative Learning Attitude Scales (OCLAS) scale is a tool to measure students’ attitudes towards online cooperative learning. Education in Indonesia uses Indonesian as the language of instruction. Therefore, the adaptation of measurement tools such as OCLAS into the Indonesian language is crucial. This study aimed to adapt OCLAS into Indonesian by translating the original OCLAS into the Indonesian language and determining the instrument’s validity and reliability. The OCLAS has three main components: positive interdependence, individual accountability, and group processing for equal individual contribution. The original version contained 17 statements with responses using a Likert scale of five and seven points. We validated the OCLAS using the item-correlation method. The reliability was measured using the Cronbach’s Alpha method, which is useful for measuring internal consistency. The original OCLAS was translated into the Indonesian Language. A language center in a prominent university performed the verification of forward and backward translation of the Indonesian OCLAS. The Indonesian-OCLA was distributed to 59 students at a private university from the pharmacy and non-pharmacy study programs and 275 high school students. The validation results showed seven invalid items for pharmacy students, five invalid items for non-pharmacy students, and six invalid items for high school students. The Indonesian-OCLAS has Cronbach’s Alpha reliability with a value of 0.711 for pharmacy students, 0.791 for non-pharmaceutical students, and 0.702 for high school students. This study showed that ten out of 17 statements had good validity, and they were reliable. Therefore, we recommended the usage of the Indonesian-OCLAS toward high school and college students.

Nurses’ attitudes towards the care for dying patients need to be explored, understood, and analyzed to improve the quality of care in palliative setting, including in nursing students.Purpose: This study explored the nursing students’ attitude and its relationship with the students’ demographic profile in caring for the dying patients in Indonesia. Methods: This study used a quantitative descriptive cross-sectional research design. The samples were 192 nursing students from Universitas Jember, Indonesia, who were recruited by using simple random sampling. Data were collected using the Frommelt Attitudes towards the Care of the Dying Care Form B Indonesian version (FATCOD-BI). The reliability test of FATCOD-BI showed a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.68, and the result of validity test using correlation coefficient showed the range of -0.278 to 0.544. Data were analyzed using frequency distribution, and mean differences test using t-test and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA).Results: Results showed that the mean of nursing students’ attitudes in caring for dying patients was 93.83±5.96 (range 30-120). Gender and training experiences had no relationship with students’ attitudes in caring for dying patients (p=0.22 and p=0.943). There was a relationship between the experiences and student academic level and the students’ attitudes in caring for dying patients (p=0.023 and p=0.036). The students’ experiences and academic level become a primary factor in the attitudes toward caring for dying patients. Conclusion: Findings revealed that student nurses’ attitudes in caring for dying patients was in low category and there was no significant relationship between gender and training experience and students’ attitudes towards caring for the dying patients. In contrast, experiences in caring for dying patients and academic level were associated with students’ attitudes. Further studies in the development of curriculum on dying patient care emphasizing on socio-demographic status are recommended.

Abstract:

This study discusses university students’ reading attitudes and perspectives on reading texts. Reading attitude was measured through students’ critical responses in comprehending and evaluating the content of the texts. This descriptive-quantitative study employed a survey. It was conducted in Indonesian Language Teaching Study Program in State University of Makassar, Indonesia. The data were collected through a questionnaire and interviews. The results of this study indicated that the students’ critical responses to texts were categorized as low. In general, the students obtained only the stated information found in texts, and they made very little attempt to seek for implied meanings. They rarely tried to connect one text to another and to social as well as cultural contexts of the texts. These poor critical responses of the students have resulted from the process of learning to read which has been more text-oriented in nature rather than ideology-concerns of the texts.

Keywords: learning to read, critical responses, reading attitude

Abstract:
Purpose:This study aims to measure the attitude levels of Acehnese university students on religious fundamentalism, right-wing authoritarianism, and militia sentiments and determine whether there are strong correlations between these attitudes. Methodology:A modified Islamic and Indonesian version of the Revised Religious Fundamentalism Scale, the Right-Wing Authoritarianism Scale, and the Militia Scale were employed in an online survey. The survey gathered 308 responses and 85 of them completed. Results:Acehnese Muslims display a 69.3%, 54% and 58% attitude level of religious fundamentalism, right-wing authoritarianism, and militia sentiments respectively, displayingattitudes significantly higher than Toronto Muslims, Hindus, Jews, United States and Canadian Christians, and Ghanaian Christians and Muslims. Religious fundamentalist attitudes correlated 72% with right-wing authoritarian attitudes and 62%with militia sentiments. Right-wing authoritarianism correlated 61% with militia sentiments. Implications:The findings of this study are useful in understanding the interlocking social relationships of religious fundamentalism, right-wing authoritarianism, and militia sentiments. Specifically, these findings indicate the challenges the Indonesian government still face in empowering democracy and restoring the central government’s legitimacy in Aceh. Originality:This study adapts well-known scales into a unique Indonesian and Islamic context, providing a unique perspective in the discussion of religious fundamentalism, right-wing authoritarianism, and militia sentiments. It elucidates the unique personality of Acehnese youth, whom have been under studied.

Abstract:
Purpose of the study: The purpose of the study is to describe the results of the development of authentic problem-based assessment models in learning Indonesian in high school. This development uses the Plomp model which has stages, preliminary research, prototyping, and evaluation. The product developed is a problem-based authentic assessment model book and a teacher's manual. Both books were tested for validity, practicality, and effectiveness well. Methodology: The development of this research follows the preliminary, prototype and evaluation research stages. The three steps are carried out selectively. The validity of the model is obtained from an expert judgment of the problem based authentic assessment model book and the problem based authentic assessment handbook. The trial was conducted in class XI of high school to see the practicality and effectiveness of the model book and the guidebook. Main Findings: The development of this authentic problem-based assessment model has produced model books and manuals for Indonesian language teachers in high schools. The results of this study indicate that (1) the problem-based authentic assessment model is very valid, (2) the problem-based authentic assessment model is very practical, and (3) the problem-based authentic assessment model is very effective in learning Indonesian. Applications of this study: Teachers can more easily assess the process and learning outcomes in learning Indonesian. The problem-based authentic assessment model can be used in language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing). The teacher can develop appropriate assessment instruments used to assess students' knowledge, attitudes, and psychomotor. The grades obtained are not only numerical but in the form of student work. Novelty/Originality of this study: This authentic problem-based assessment model presents problems in the form of text or questions to be answered by students. Assessment instruments are presented to teachers to assess students' attitudes, cognitive, and psychomotor. The teacher can judge according to the student's ability to answer the questions given. Furthermore, to assess student and psychomotor attitudes, teachers can use portfolio and project instruments.

Abstract:
This article analyses Indonesian students’ preferences for different types of religious education, with the help of their personal characteristics and inter-group attitudes. We investigate a comparative understanding of Muslim, Christian and Hindu students of different types of religious education. The comparative measurement of different models of religious education shows that the mono-religious model consists of all aspects of religious education. A remarkable result is that in all models, the attitudinal aspect (sometimes together with the affective) is the most dominant aspect. The cognitive aspect is absent in the inter-religious model. On average, all Muslim, Christian and Hindu students prefer the mono-religious over the inter-religious model. For the mono-religious model, the negative evaluation of religious plurality is the strongest predictor; and indeed, is the only aspect to contribute to the preference for the mono-religious model among Muslims. The attitude towards pluralism is the most important predictor of the preference for a mono-religious model among Christians. This result is in contrast with our hypothesis. As for Hindu respondents, the centrality of own religion has the most positive correlation with the mono-religious model. Pluralism is the most influential factor for the inter-religious model among all groups.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to describe and compare perceptions of critical thinking, attitudes to and availability of research, research utilization and barriers to this among nursing students in Scandinavia and Indonesia. Data were collected at the beginning, middle and end of education from nursing students in Norway, Sweden (bachelor’s diploma) and Banda Aceh (bachelor’s diploma). Critical Thinking and Research Utilization Questionnaires were used along with the Barrier Scale. Descriptive analyses, comparisons between and within groups were performed. At the end of education, all samples exhibited positive attitudes to research and the main barrier was related to the setting. Scandinavian students reported higher critical thinking. Indonesian students perceived greater barriers on two Barrier subscales. No differences were found between the samples regarding research utilization. Significant changes over time varied among the samples except for the Norwegian sample. Indonesian students (diploma) exhibited most changes over time. Teachers must support nursing students to strengthen their critical thinking ability and develop professional competence.
