Abstract:
This paper presents multi-criteria methods for ranking project activities according to several ranking indexes. The methods are based on the Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP), on Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), and on the use of common ranking indexes. This paper reviews ranking indexes of project activities for project management tasks. The ranking of project activities in one project is applicable for focusing the attention of the project manager on important activities. The selection of the appropriate ranking indexes should be done in accordance with managerial purposes: 1) Paying attention to activities throughout the execution phase and in the resources allocation process, in order meet pre-determined qualities, and to deliver the project on time and within budget, i.e., to accomplish the project within the "iron triangle" 2) Setting priorities in order to share the managerial care and control among the activities. The paper proposes to use multi-criteria ranking methods in order to rank the activities in a case where several ranking indexes are selected.

Abstract:
In this work authors offers the list of the generalized requirements (or criteria) for indexes of assessment. Requirements can be applied during the development and the analysis of assessment indexes for programs and projects of evolution and performance of the Russian Federation regardless of exact subject domain. Based on authors experience in the field of various assessment techniques development, compliance to the listed requirements allows to improve interpretability of assessment indexes which, in turn, increases also their usefulness. Besides, in particular circumstances the concept of "quality of an index of assessment" can be expressed through the fact of compliance to the offered requirements (for example, direct calculation of requirements to which the index conforms) that can be the useful, for example, when choosing one "best" index of assessment from several alternatives. The offered list of requirements, certainly, isn't single valid one, and article pursues rather the purpose to open a topic for discussion, than to answer the question posed exhaustively.

Abstract:
There is a current lack of consensus regarding methods of assessment of vitiligo. Recently, the Vitiligo Area Scoring Index (VASI) and the Vitiligo European Task Force (VETF) were proposed to offer more accurate measures of disease severity indexes and treatment evaluation criteria. It would make sense to combine the VASI with the VETF system. We proposed an original scale for treatment evaluation criteria in vitiligo based on VASI. We plan to add the digital image analysis system, health-related quality of life questionnaire, affected skin location, and skin color in the original scale.

Abstract:
Based on Monte Carlo method, the concrete durability reliability indexes for typical concrete members in 50-year-period of service were calculated under normally moist environment conditions. By taking the typical concrete members under normally moist environment conditions as example, the fuzzy reliability indexes based on durability for crack control criteria provided in GB 50010-2010 were calculated. The calculation results show that the durability reliability indexes are mainly lower than crack control reliability indexes for normally moist environment conditions. To realize the goal that the durability design safety level can be generally closest to crack control safety level, one revision advice was presented for present concrete design code GB 50010-2010 to properly lower the crack control safety level in normally moist environment conditions: the present short period crack width enlargement coefficient should be multiplied with 0.85 so that the calculation guarantee rate will be lowered to 85% for flexural members.

Abstract:
GDP and GDP per capita are widely used to gauge for living standards across countries. However, they have originally not been constructed for this purpose and are therefore subject to significant limitations. This paper aims at developing a better and non-monetary development index with which cross-country living standards can be assessed. This index, the BDI, can then be utilized for policy making. When constructing the BDI, this study utilizes time series analysis and panel unit root tests. A major finding of this study is that the BDI does indeed produce statistically significantly different results/ rankings for a special set of countries, compared to GDP and GDP per capita.

Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2014. http://repositorio.pucp.edu.pe/index/handle/123456789/116748.

Full text
Abstract:
In our legal system, Copyright Law confers protection to authentic photographies and due to this feature, they are considered photographic works. Nevertheless, authorities have not given enough information of what a photography requires to be considered authentic. On account of this, the shortcomings of our related rules are evaluated to determine which foreign legislation gives a better referent, and to analyze the different views given to the authenticity concept by doctrine and case law. All of this with the purpose of determining specific criteria to qualify a photography as authentic and protected by Copyright Law, and proposing changes in our current legislationon the matter.

Kropf, Carsten. "Efficient Reorganisation of Hybrid Index Structures Supporting Multimedia Search Criteria." Doctoral thesis, Saechsische Landesbibliothek- Staats- und Universitaetsbibliothek Dresden, 2017. http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:bsz:14-qucosa-216425.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis describes the development and setup of hybrid index structures. They are access methods for retrieval techniques in hybrid data spaces which are formed by one or more relational or normalised columns in conjunction with one non-relational or non-normalised column. Examples for these hybrid data spaces are, among others, textual data combined with geographical ones or data from enterprise content management systems. However, all non-relational data types may be stored as well as image feature vectors or comparable types. Hybrid index structures are known to function efficiently regarding retrieval operations. Unfortunately, little information is available about reorganisation operations which insert or update the row tuples. The fundamental research is mainly executed in simulation based environments. This work is written ensuing from a previous thesis that implements hybrid access structures in realistic database surroundings. During this implementation it has become obvious that retrieval works efficiently. Yet, the restructuring approaches require too much effort to be set up, e.g., in web search engine environments where several thousands of documents are inserted or modified every day. These search engines rely on relational database systems as storage backends. Hence, the setup of these access methods for hybrid data spaces is required in real world database management systems. This thesis tries to apply a systematic approach for the optimisation of the rearrangement algorithms inside realistic scenarios. Thus, a measurement and evaluation scheme is created which is repeatedly deployed to an evolving state and a model of hybrid index structures in order to optimise the regrouping algorithms to make a setup of hybrid index structures in real world information systems possible. Thus, a set of input corpora is selected which is applied to the test suite as well as an evaluation scheme. To sum up, it can be said that this thesis describes input sets, a test suite including an evaluation scheme as well as optimisation iterations on reorganisation algorithms reflecting a theoretical model framework to provide efficient reorganisations of hybrid index structures supporting multimedia search criteria.

Abstract:
In this article, the authors explain some notions about job security and some general aspects of the nullity of the dismissal (proof of the dismissal null and its causes). Also, they explain the judicial criteria on the nullity of dismissal that have been issued through cassation rulings by the Supreme Court. Among these criteria are union membership or participation in union activities, filing a complaint or participation in processes against the employer, discrimination, and pregnancy.

Abstract:
We extend the class of M-tests for a unit root analyzed by Perron and Ng (1996) and Ng and Perron (1997) to the case where a change in the trend function is allowed to occur at an unknown time. These tests M(GLS) adopt the GLS detrending approach of Dufour and King (1991) and Elliott, Rothenberg and Stock (1996) (ERS). Following Perron (1989), we consider two models: one allowing for a change in slope and the other for both a change in intercept and slope. We derive the asymptotic distribution of the tests as well as that of the feasible point optimal tests PT(GLS) suggested by ERS. The asymptotic critical values of the tests aretabulated. Also, we compute the non-centrality parameter used for the local GLS detrending that permits the tests to have 50% asymptotic power at that value. We show that the M(GLS) and PT(GLS) tests have an asymptotic power function close to the power envelope. An extensive simulation study analyzes the size and power in finite samples under various methods to select the truncation lag for the autoregressive spectral density estimator. An empirical application is also provided.

Abstract:
With the arrival of the Economic Analysis of Law, some scholars began to consider Law as a set of “official prices” given by the legislature or the courts. Such change of perspective created some ius-economic inconsistencies because  a  large segment of the doctrine didn’t realize the impossibility of efficiently regulating the economy by recurring only toorders and mandates. In this article, the author argues that it is necessary to establish the ius-economic differences between sanctions and prices, i.e. between those hypotheses in which Lawsets a price on a behavior and those cases which Law looks forward to impose a sanction. Such ideas should be applied to Tort Law, specifically in the definition and understanding of allocation criteria.

Abstract:
From the point of view of the new science of globalism, the problems of the ecological, socio-economic state of the world and countries are considered through the prism of the interaction of the human psyche and society and the inhabited world. The criteria of ecological civilization of countries and peoples are justified. Optimizing the consumption of natural bio-and energy resources is becoming a fundamental environmental factor for sustainable development. The "Law of the maximum for humanity" as the law of the biosphere can be the arbitration court, the neutral force that will explain the historical need for mutual understanding, taking into account the interests of ecology and economy for the survival of man as a biovid on Earth; a new reality will begin to form — the phenomenon of co-residence of the world society with the biosphere. The world's population, its energy and bio-consumption, as well as all living matter on the planet, must correspond to the biological capacity of the Earth and not go beyond its boundaries. The task of the society is to implement a worldview breakthrough at the current stage of development, its own cultural mutation, which in the future will create the basis for adaptive technological and socio-cultural development. The task is to classify the entire Earth as a "Green Book" and to solve systemic environmental problems of a global nature. An integral part of sustainable development should be the principle of "vital consumption" at both the personal and social level, instead of the dominant principle of"expanded production and consumption". The indicator of the" culture of consumption "of natural resources, both at the individual level and at the level of society, should be included as an integral part of the integral indicator in the "True Indicator of Progress" and the "Human Development Index". The book is interdisciplinary in nature; it is a kind of scientific and philosophical poetic essay intended for teachers and students of universities in the field of sociology, ecology, biology and related fields, as well as for everyone who cares about the future of society.

Abstract:
Methods in Linguistics is a collection of articles presenting a broad variety of methods and approaches in the field of linguistics. It offers structure to the spectrum of methodological possibilities and helps the reader to identify the field of application as well as the strengths and weaknesses of different methods. The book consists of an extensive introductory part and a variety of articles, each written by experts of the method in question. It discusses questions related to different kinds of data and data collection, as well as methods used for analysing data. Since the methods used in linguistics are often related to a specific linguistic current, the book offers examples from a wide range of linguistic approaches. The book is addressed to students, researchers and other readers interested in the methods used in linguistics. The general methodological and metatheoretical knowledge offered in the introduction guides the reader through the different methodological choices presented and helps the reader to select the best method to meet her needs. First, the research process is explained step-by-step from the selection of topic and data to questions related to research design, analysis and the reporting of the results. The second part of the introduction focuses on fundamental theoretical and methodological questions, such as the criteria for knowledge, the nature of scientific knowledge and the scientific method. The third part addresses more specifically the methodology of linguistics, discussing the multifaceted nature of natural language and linguistics as a discipline. The introduction also covers many current topics in science, such as research ethics, data protection and open science principles. The book can be used as self-study material by students and researchers alike, or as course material in higher education. Learning is supported by the careful definition of terms, extensive indexes and additional readings suggested for each topic.

Abstract:
Acute on chronic liver failure is characterized by an acute deterioration of liver function in a patient with previously compensated cirrhosis secondary to a precipitating event. It is most commonly associated with a very poor prognosis and early identification of the precipitating cause is essential to successfully attempt to reverse decompensation. The most common precipitant is infection and a high index of suspicion is required. Other management is largely supportive with close attention to renal dysfunction being particularly important. All patients admitted to the intensive care unit with complications of cirrhosis warrant consultation with a transplant centre to determine whether they fulfil the criteria for transplantation and for expert advice.

Abstract:
Metabolic syndrome is defined as the co-occurrence of metabolic risk factors for both type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease (i.e. abdominal obesity, hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia, and hypertension). Indeed, metabolic syndrome is an important risk factor for subsequent development of type 2 diabetes and/or CVD. Thus, the key clinical implication of a diagnosis of metabolic syndrome is the identification of a patient who needs aggressive lifestyle modification focused on weight reduction and increased physical activity. Abstract:
The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is a Multi-Criteria method in which a number of decision factors (typically criteria and alternatives) are compared pairwise by one or more experts, using the Saaty scale, with the goal of sorting the alternatives (Saaty, 1977; 1980). For group AHP the Delphi method can be used in parallel with the AHP (Di Zio and Maretti, 2014), and this allows the search for a consensus on each pairwise judgement. A big issue of the AHP regards the inconsistency of the pairwise comparison matrices and here we propose a new method to reduce the inconsistency. As a solution we exploit the Nudge theory (Thaler and Sunstein, 2008) and from the second round of the Delphi survey, we calculate and circulate a Nudge to “gentle push” the experts towards more consistent evaluations. Furthermore, we propose the representation of the AHP matrices through graphs. In a direct graph two nodes are linked with two direct and weighted edges (or one edge with the direction based on the weights), where the weights indicate the evaluation given by an expert or, for a group, the geometric mean of the judgements. This type of visualization facilitates the reading of the results and could also be used as real-time feedback in the Delphi process, by displaying on the edges also a measure of variability. An application is proposed, on the evaluation of four future scenarios on the regulation of genetic modification experiments, assessed by a panel of 27 experts according to different criteria (plausibility, consistency and simplicity). The application demonstrated that it is possible to: a) reduce the inconsistency; b) collect useful textual material which enrich the AHP itself; c) use the inconsistency index as a stopping criterion for the Delphi rounds; d) display the pairwise comparison matrices with graphs.

Abstract:
The paper presents a methodology to calculate the seakeeping performance of ships, which is given as an operability index, and discusses the sensitivity of the results to the use of different seakeeping criteria. The calculation of the operability index, which represents the percentage of time during which the ship is operational, depends on the wave climate of the ocean area where the ship operates, the dynamic response of the ship to the waves, and the ship mission. The relation between the ship operability and the mission characteristics is established through the seakeeping criteria. The calculation of operability indexes and the sensitivity analysis are carried out for a containership operating in the North Atlantique between Europe and the United states, and a fishing vessel operating near the Portuguese west coast. These are two ships with different mission profiles, which permits assessment of the sensitivity of the estimated operability index to different ship types.

Abstract:
Abstract A new graph theoretic concept of link-centre of a kinematic chain is introduced. The link-centre of a kinematic chain is defined as a subset of set of links of the kinematic chain using a hierarchy of criteria based on distance concept. A number of structural invariants are defined for a kinematic chain which may be used for identification and classification of kinematic chains and mechanisms. An algorithm is developed on the basis of the concept of distance and the link-centre for optimum selection of input, output and fixed links in a multi-degree-of-freedom function generator.

Abstract:
The acceptance criteria are important to the decision on the risk, however, it is possible to recognize that there is a lack of guidelines to use in the acceptance criteria definition. Considering that previous publications concerning the acceptance criteria definition in the occupational area are scarce, this paper aims to analyze how risk acceptance criteria can be formulated, exemplifying with a specific case in a Portuguese furniture industry. It explores the problematic on the acceptance criteria and the used principles for its formulation. The metrics to be adopted were also analyzed. Faced with the lack of guidelines for the risk acceptance criteria formulation for traditional occupational accidents, the experience with major accident hazards may help to understand some features. The principle ALARP was seen as an interest approach to use in occupational accidents. The literature review allowed finding seven steps for the quantitative acceptance criteria formulation. These steps were applied on a small Portuguese furniture industry. The case study showed that the quantitative acceptance criteria formulation is not an easy process. The principle ALARP it was considered suitable to be applied. Regarding risk indexes or indicators, the LTI-rate was the one that was considered to be the more appropriate. The upper risk acceptance limits, defined for this company, were 0.450 and 0.225 for tolerability and acceptability, respectively. The manager and consultant considered the use for the quantitative acceptance criteria as an added value to support the risk decisions. This paper showed the importance of the risk acceptance criteria in risk decisions, and exemplified how that can be done. However, this work suggests that there is still much work to be done in this area, in order to get that the companies of this sector being able to define the acceptance criteria in an equity perspective. So, it is only the first step, needing to be continued and extended to other industries.

Abstract:
Underwater wet welding (UWW) with shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) is employed basically in repairs of offshore structures, including platforms, ships and others. The main problems of this type of welds are related, of course, with water presence in the electric arc that causes higher cooling rates, Oxygen and Hydrogen availability in the arc atmosphere and arc instability. Many of research and test welding programs in laboratory are undertaken in shallow water performed by automatic devices using hyperbaric chambers to simulate depths. Also, welding arc signals are acquired using data acquisition systems and the arc stability is estimated through indexes calculated from values acquired and analyzed. It is very well known the reduced stability of the wet welding process at shallow depths — less than approximately five meters. So this effect would be considerable significant since it can be used to make correlations between the arc stability indexes and the welds quality results. The main objective of this work was to evaluate the efficiency of the most used arc stability indexes reported in the literature in detect the arc instability effect of shallow water wet welding. Bead-on-plate welds had been made using a gravity feeding system device inside a hyperbaric chamber, applying straight polarity (DCEN) in ASTM A36 steel plates, using the same weld parameters in two different depths, 0.5 and 20.0 meters. Rutile, basic and oxidizing commercial electrodes types prepared for UWW with 3.25mm rod diameter were used. Visual analysis, bead morphology and arc stability were the criteria used to evaluate the weld quality. The voltage and current arc signals were acquired at 10 KHz rate. The arc stability indexes measured were average voltage and current and its standard deviation, S (Imax/Imin) parameter, voltage and current square mean, arc “re-ignition” voltage and current, metal transfer time and its deviation, metal transfer frequency and its deviation, short circuit time and its deviation and the voltage versus current graph area. The results shown that none of the stability indexes tested has been shown to indicate, alone, a good relationship to the surface appearance obtained for the three electrodes studied. The rutile type electrode was the only one that clearly produced better weld appearance at 20 meters than in shallow water depth. The rutile and oxidizing electrodes showed better surface appearance with the increased number of short circuits. For the rutile electrode, the globular transfer mode with high voltage were directly related with poor weld bead surface appearance.

In 2014 22nd International Conference on Nuclear Engineering. American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 2014. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/icone22-31171.

Full text
Abstract:
Diversity is the general approach used for decreasing common cause failure (CCF) risks of instrumentation and control (I&C) systems. Differences in equipment, development and verification technologies, implemented functions, etc. can mitigate the potential for common faults. Diversity and defense-in-depth (D3) is the required attribute of Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) I&C systems important for safety. One of the key theoretical and practical problems is diversity estimation and optimization of used version redundancy capacity. Existing NUREG guidelines published in reports CR-7007 and CR-6303 present the technical basis for establishing acceptable mitigating strategies that resolve D3 assessment findings. These approaches work in the terms of diversity attributes and associated criteria aimed at the potential for CCF vulnerabilities and make possible to choose I&C system architecture based on combinations of diversity criteria. But they do not provide measures (diversity indexes or metrics) to calculate reliability of such system in the context of CCF. In the report some other techniques for diversity assessment are analyzed, as well as advantages and disadvantages of these techniques in comprising with NUREG-based method are described. Possibilities of their joint applications and tool support are considered. The combined use of reliability models, diversity metrics and reliability indexes of system components allows enhancement of estimation sensitivity, making sufficiency criteria for diversity and redundancy more concrete and choice of technical solutions more informed and confident at the early stages of NPP I&C system design. The problems for future research are stated as creation of Safety-Case-oriented techniques and tools for multi-version NPP I&C systems assessment.

Abstract:
The effects of extreme climate phenomena (mainly heat-related) on agricultural crops, infrastructure and human health have become increasingly severe, varying between regions in response to the differences in the socio-economic and environmental features. In Romania, heat-related phenomena (i.e. drought) are affecting extended areas in the southern and south-eastern parts where the study area (Dobrogea) lies. The paper aims to develop a multi-criteria vulnerability assessment. Over 20 indicators were selected and processed in order to assess the vulnerability to heat-related phenomena using the statistical data available at local administrative units (LAU). The indicators were grouped into the three key components of vulnerability (potential exposure, sensitivity and adaptive capacity) and on two dimensions (socio-economic and environmental), resulting two indexes: Socio-Economic Vulnerability (SEV) and Environmental Vulnerability (EV). Finally, an integrated Heat Vulnerability index (HV) (using Hull score, average 50 and standard deviation 14) was computed.

In ASME 2014 International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition. American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 2014. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/imece2014-38974.

Full text
Abstract:
The U* index has been used for load transfer analysis to show its capability in giving general awareness regarding performance of structure. Although U* index and stress values have been proven to be useful indexes as structure design criteria, a thorough comparison between conventional stress analysis and loads transfer analysis (based on U* index) is lacking. In this study, we evaluate load transfer behaviors of a parcel rack of multiple passenger vehicles under different loading conditions using the U* index. Then by demonstrating the unique capabilities of U* as an index for stiffness, it is shown that the load path concept can be combined with the stress analysis results to provide comprehensive information about the structure responses to loading. In addition to the agreement between stress analysis and the U* analysis, it is shown that U* can provide additional information about the structure response that stress analysis fails. Such information includes: interpreting high and complicated stress distributions in structure and detection of questionable stiffness in certain parts of structure. More importantly, the load path index U* can detect the area where significant changes in the structure stiffness occurs. Such information can be used as a guideline for structure design with the goal to reduce the weight while still keeping the structure integrity.

Abstract:
Today there are various corporate sustainability indexes which are indicators of company performance. However, establishing exactly corporate sustainability indicators for all companies is quite difficult. Because corporate sustainability includes not only internal factors but also external factors (for example environmental factors) that affect company performance. In this study; firstly, sustainability, corporate sustainability and dimensions of corporate sustainability concepts will be explained, then corporate sustainability performance of an international company (X Company) will be evaluated. Data were acquired from the company’s annual reports. Indexes, which used in previous studies on this topic, were based; thus corporate sustainability indicators have been established. In the study, the company’s corporate sustainability performance will be analyzed with TOPSIS (Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) Method that is a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) method. In this study, the objective has been reached and accurate results were obtained because of mathematical methods for the assessment of corporate sustainability performance. Corporate sustainability performance with more indicators can be analyzed in the future studies. Also; other methods (for example; AHP, ELECTRE Method or Fuzzy Set Theory), which are instead of Entropy and TOPSIS methods, will be used in the future studies.

Abstract:
The European Commission has evaluated the consequences of the Latvian tax reform in 2018 and declared that the set target of decreasing tax burden for people with low income was not reached, yet the tax reform continuing implementation caused even greater social stratification. The goal of the study was to develop method for determining the rational tax on vehicles based on criteria of fairness and efficiency using an analytical approach. To develop such a method for vehicle taxation, relative single indexes approach as a part of method of variant optimization was used based on relative fuel equivalent coefficient. To analyse the current situation in Latvia and show possible ways of improving it, scenario analysis (three controlling cases) and mathematical modelling by using the developed method were carried out. Analysis of the first controlling case showed that the current situation in Latvia's vehicle taxation policy is not efficient enough from the point of the combination of fairness and efficiency. To improve the situation and achieve zone of optimum (the third controlling case) it is possible to shift tax burden partially from local taxpayers to taxpayers with foreign-registered vehicles. To comply with the recommendation of the European Commission, it is also recommended to set fairness as a primary criterion and make the system more favourable to the taxpayer (when operating in the zone of optimum). It can be achieved by using annual mileage as a base to determine the tax. If recommendations would be implemented partially, it is possible to reach the state (the second controlling case), where vehicle taxation is becoming optimal, yet any change in tax rates or procedures separately will lead to ineffective or unfair solutions. Overall the developed method allows to analyse and forecast most of the changes in vehicle taxation.

Abstract:
Because ports are considered to be the heart of the maritime transportation system, thereby assessing port performance is necessary for a nation’s development and economic success. This study proposes a novel metric, namely, “port performance index (PPI)”, to determine the overall performance and utilization of inland waterway ports based on six criteria, port facility, port availability, port economics, port service, port connectivity, and port environment. Unlike existing literature, which mainly ranks ports based on quantitative factors, this study utilizes a Bayesian Network (BN) model that focuses on both quantitative and qualitative factors to rank a port. The assessment of inland waterway port performance is further analyzed based on different advanced techniques such as sensitivity analysis and belief propagation. Insights drawn from the study show that all the six criteria are necessary to predict PPI. The study also showed that port service has the highest impact while port economics has the lowest impact among the six criteria on PPI for inland waterway ports.

Abstract:
A frontal impact scenario was simulated using a Finite Element Model of a Hybrid III 50th percentile male (LSTC, Livermore CA) along with seatbelt, steering system and driver airbags. The boundary conditions included acceleration pulse to the seat and the outputs including injury measures in terms of Head Injury Criterion (HIC), Normalized Neck Injury Criterion (NIJ) and Chest Severity Index (CSI) were extracted from the simulations. The kinematics of the Hybrid III were validated against the kinematics of post mortem human surrogates (PMHS) available in the literature. Using the validated setup, metamodels were generated by creating a design of varying different parameters and recording the responses for each design. First, the X and Z translation of dummy along the seat is provided as input for which there was no variation in the head injury criterion (HIC). Next, the input pulse to the seat is parameterized along with the seatbelt loading and the results are obtained respectively. The outputs, in terms of injury measures, are generated in the form of metamodels as a function of the parameters. The occupant model used for the frontal crash scenario in LS-Dyna is validated against the previously available crash experimental data. A total of 100 design points was generated with a varying combination of parameters. An increase in various injury measures was observed with an increase in the scale factor of the acceleration pulse. Also, it was found that chest severity index increased with an increase in the scale factor of the seat belt loading force.

Abstract:
This report aims to explain and assess the contribution of WFP Ethiopia’s climate adaptation and risk management programmes to peace in Ethiopia. The research focused on the Satellite Index Insurance for Pastoralists in Ethiopia (SIIPE) programme, a multidimensional programme that aims to enhance beneficiaries’ integrated risk management capacities. The results indicate that the SIIPE programme can potentially contribute to conflict reduction and thus negative peace in the Somali region of Ethiopia through reducing herders’ mobility during droughts and improving natural resource management. They also find that there is a lack of clarity regarding the selection criteria for the programme, which proved to be a point of potential contention, and that conflict analysis and sensitivity are not incorporated into the programme’s design, since conflict reduction was not an objective of SIIPE. Based on these findings, the report makes recommendations to improve WFP’s contribution to the prospects for peace.
