Abstract:
This work designs a novel hydraulic-walking incremental launching equipment. The working principle of the equipment is proposed. Considering that the contact in incremental launching construction is a typical elastic contact problem, and changes in contact state will directly affect the stability of the incremental launching, this work proposes the equilibrium equations of computational contact mechanics and numerical analysis method for the incremental launching equipment through analyzing the working process of the equipments. The proposed model and method are applied in the analysis of typical working conditions of the incremental launching of Donghua Bridge. The structural characteristics in the construction process are analyzed and discussed. The analysis results show that the strength and stability of the steel box girder can meet the construction requirements. The incremental launching of Donghua Bridge was completed successfully. The proposed model and method can be used to predict and analyze the structural performance in incremental launching construction as well as provide theoretical reference and analysis method for similar constructions.

Daciuk et al. [Computational Linguistics 26(1):3–16 (2000)] describe a method for constructing incrementally minimal, deterministic, acyclic finite-state automata (dictionaries) from sets of strings. But acyclic finite-state automata have limitations: For instance, if one wants a linguistic application to accept all possible integer numbers or Internet addresses, the corresponding finite-state automaton has to be cyclic. In this article, we describe a simple and equally efficient method for modifying any minimal finite-state automaton (be it acyclic or not) so that a string is added to or removed from the language it accepts; both operations are very important when dictionary maintenance is performed and solve the dictionary construction problem addressed by Daciuk et al. as a special case. The algorithms proposed here may be straightforwardly derived from the customary textbook constructions for the intersection and the complementation of finite-state automata; the algorithms exploit the special properties of the automata resulting from the intersection operation when one of the finite-state automata accepts a single string.

Incremental launching method is a construction technology for prestressed concrete continuous bridges widely used in China. In the incremental launching method, the superstructure of a bridge is erected from one side of bridge longitudinally to the opposite bank. Compared with other technology for bridge erection methods, it may reduce the cost of labor, shorten the construction period and save the assembly yard. So it is a competitive construction method for medium-span prestressed concrete continuous bridges. A large number of skew bridges will be built especially at mountain area, so it is very necessary to research on incrementally launching method for skew bridges. The objective of the study presented in this paper is to introduce the method used in the Lishui Bridge in Zhangjiajie city of China.

The construction of real-world knowledge is required if we are to understand real-world events that occur in a networked sensor environment. Since it is difficult to select suitable ‘events’ for recognition in a sensor environment a priori, we propose an incremental model for constructing real-world knowledge. Labeling is the central plank of the proposed model because the model simultaneously improves both the ontology of real-world events and the implementation of a sensor system based on a manually labeled event corpus. A labeling tool is developed in accordance with the model and is evaluated in a practical labeling experiment.

The availability of smart and intelligent sensors has changed the monitoring, control and maintenance of a conventional and advanced cyber-physical system used in public or private sectors of a society. For example, internet of things (IoT)-based health, agricultural and weather management systems. With the emergence of such sensors, along with the new ways to communicate or coordinate with them, we need to analyze and optimize the system construction processes. In this paper, to address the issue of scalability for bigger and complex systems based on sensors, we redefine an incremental construction process with an emphasis on behavior preservation and study the effectiveness of the use of software component models from the component-based development domain. In this paper, to deal with the issue of scalability, we investigate component-based development approaches with respect to our defined process and propose a taxonomy of component models with respect to component/system behavior. Moreover, based on the outcome of our analysis, we recommend the EX-MAN component model as the most suitable approach. We investigate incremental construction in the context of the three main categories of current component models, namely models where components are: (i) objects, (ii) architectural units and (iii) encapsulated components. Furthermore, to evaluate our defined process and selection of EX-MAN, we designed three examples of systems using our proposed process in EX-MAN component model.

The paper deals with possibilities of the incremental compiler construction. It represents the compiler construction possibilities for languages with a fixed set of lexical units and for languages with a variable set of lexical units, too. The methodology design for the incremental compiler construction is based on the known algorithms for standard compiler construction and derived for both groups of languages. Under the group of languages with a fixed set of lexical units there belong languages, where each lexical unit has its constant meaning, e.g., common programming languages. For this group of languages the paper tries to solve the problem of the incremental semantic analysis, which is based on incremental parsing. In the group of languages with a variable set of lexical units (e.g., professional typographic system TEX), it is possible to change arbitrarily the meaning of each character on the input file at any time during processing. The change takes effect immediately and its validity can be somehow limited or is given by the end of the input. For this group of languages this paper tries to solve the problem case when we use macros temporarily changing the category of arbitrary characters.

Aimed at the critical technical problems existing in incremental launching construction process, taking Jiashao bridge as the research subject, the analysis of the incremental launching plan and the local stress of pushing bracket and bearing block are carried out. Abstract:
This paper presents an alternative construction method of a highway along coastal area underlain by thick normally consolidated very soft organic clay. Due to its remote location, mitigations to strengthen the soft clay are deemed too costly and/or require significant time to mobilize. Without mitigations, the presence of this very soft clay necessitates the roadway embankment to be constructed in phases to allow partial consolidation of clayey soils to take place before additional embankment fill can be placed. At each construction phase, the additional fill thickness and staging time are determined, and the corresponding degrees of consolidation and incremental strength gains are calculated at discrete grid points within the soft organic clay. The stability of the partially built embankment is then evaluated, and the fill thickness and staging time are adjusted to meet the stability safety requirements. The settlement due to fill placement can be estimated at each construction phase and included as an overbuilt to the next fill placement thickness. Impacts of soil horizontal and vertical movements due to filling to pile foundations are also be discussed.

In this paper, we describe a new method for constructing minimal, deterministic, acyclic finite-state automata from a set of strings. Traditional methods consist of two phases: the first to construct a trie, the second one to minimize it. Our approach is to construct a minimal automaton in a single phase by adding new strings one by one and minimizing the resulting automaton on-the-fly. We present a general algorithm as well as a specialization that relies upon the lexicographical ordering of the input strings. Our method is fast and significantly lowers memory requirements in comparison to other methods.

Abstract The paper addresses the emergence and development of the Chinese correlative comparative construction (CrCC) from the perspective of constructionalization. Most previous historical studies of the CrCC take a grammaticalization approach (e.g., Long 2013), focusing mainly on morphosyntax alone rather than investigating syntax and semantics in an integrated way. However, the architecture of construction grammar requires approaching linguistic analysis with both form and meaning equally in mind. This approach suggests that what have sometimes been considered to be merely different formal expressions of the CrCC are in fact two different constructions, one correlative, and the other a simple incremental. We identify the critical contexts (see Diewald & Smirnova 2010) that by hypothesis enabled the constructionalization of the CrCC, and point to the importance of considering network reorganization and multiple sources in the development of the simple incremental construction (see e.g., Boas 2008; Van de Velde et al. 2013).

Abstract:
The risk factors of continuous incremental launching bridge during construction stage are specialized. The risk in incremental launching stage is analyzed and identified. A risk assessment index system is built. A fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model is developed. The results obtained from the risk assessment model verifies the validity and practicality of the developed method by the combination of analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy mathematics theory. Moderate risk assessment results are developed to provide references for incremental launching construction method.

Abstract:
In order to achieve the sustainable growth of its urbanization and natural resources, China has been making great efforts to develop prefabricated construction technologies. However, the high incremental cost of prefabricated buildings (PRBs) is a fundamental obstacle to the latter. The current study mainly focuses on analyzing the incremental cost of the on-site construction stage. It is hard to comprehensively identify the incremental cost composition without considering the incremental cost caused by prefabricated components (PFCs) production. Moreover, the results of incremental cost calculation are not accurate enough by comparing the cost of two similar but different PRB and traditional buildings (TRB), and the case-based calculation results suffer from a lack of representation. To address these issues, we first establish a two-dimensional incremental cost index system from the dimension of cost items and prefabricated technologies to study the incremental cost composition of the whole construction stage. Additionally, based on China’s latest policies documents, the applicability of incremental cost composition items can also be improved. Then a building information modeling (BIM)-based calculation model is presented to avoid the calculation error caused by comparing the cost of two different PRBs and TRBs. To validate the proposed index system and calculation method, an actual prefabricated project in China is also conducted as a case study. The results suggest that: (1) Incremental cost is composed of band bearing and retaining walls and inner walls PFCs production, PFCs hoisting and grouting, post-pouring concrete, and full decoration. (2) The BIM-based incremental calculation result of a PRB case from Shanghai is within the range of the national average PRB incremental estimation results. The incremental cost composition items and BIM-based calculation approach can greatly help investors to identify the largest increase in cost and make effective cost optimization strategies.

Abstract With the progress of building materials and building technology, the span of bridges is becoming larger and larger. This paper briefly introduces the incremental launching construction technology of a bridge and the incremental launching construction technology of pontoon fulcrum conversion, makes an instance analysis on a large-span steel arch bridge that adopted the incremental launching technology of pontoon fulcrum conversion in Shaoyang, Hunan, China, and makes a simulation calculation on the construction process using Midas civil software. The construction process was monitored using stress sensors and total station. The results showed that the simulation results of the stress and deformation changes of the steel arch bridge in the construction process were close to the actual monitoring data, and the variation trend was basically the same. The finite element model effectively simulated the stress and deformation changes of the steel arch bridge in incremental launching. With the progress of construction conditions, the maximum stress and deformation degree of the arch rib increased first and then decreased, the maximum stress and deformation degree of the main longitudinal beam showed an increase tendency, the maximum stress of the front guide beam increased first and then decreased, and the deformation degree gradually decreased.

In robotics, Generalized Voronoi Diagrams (GVDs) are widely used by mobile robots to represent the spatial topologies of their surrounding area. In this paper we consider the problem of constructing GVDs on discrete environments. Several algorithms that solve this problem exist in the literature, notably the Brushfire algorithm and its improved versions which possess local repair mechanism. However, when the area to be processed is very large or is of high resolution, the size of the metric matrices used by these algorithms to compute GVDs can be prohibitive. To address this issue, we propose an improvement on the current algorithms, using pointerless quadtrees in place of metric matrices to compute and maintain GVDs. Beyond the construction and reconstruction of a GVD, our algorithm further provides a method to approximate roadmaps in multiple granularities from the quadtree based GVD. Simulation tests in representative scenarios demonstrate that, compared with the current algorithms, our algorithm generally makes an order of magnitude improvement regarding memory cost when the area is larger than210×210. We also demonstrate the usefulness of the approximated roadmaps for coarse-to-fine pathfinding tasks.

As part of Basel II's incremental risk charge (IRC) methodology, this paper summarizes our extensive investigations of constructing transition probability matrices (TPMs) for unsecuritized credit products in the trading book. The objective is to create monthly or quarterly TPMs with predefined sectors and ratings that are consistent with the bank's Basel PDs. Constructing a TPM is not a unique process. We highlight various aspects of three types of uncertainties embedded in different construction methods: (1) the available historical data and the bank's rating philosophy; (2) the merger of one-year Basel PD and the chosen Moody's TPMs; and (3) deriving a monthly or quarterly TPM when the generator matrix does not exist. Given the fact that TPMs and specifically their PDs are the most important parameters in IRC, it is our view that banks may need to make discretionary choices regarding their methodology, with uncertainties well understood and managed.
