Abstract:
Selection processes of credible candidates in competitions are often flawed. The flaws may be deliberate when there is corruption. In other cases the flaws occur because of the decision makers’ inadequacies. Many competitors do their best in developing exceptional proposals, but unfairness of the decision makers undermines these efforts. Ideally, undeserving candidates should be disqualified, and deserving ones be allowed to contest. Systematic methods should be used in the proposal evaluation, and the process should be verifiable. This paper discusses scientific methods proposed for use to select a criterion-based worthy competitor in service provider selection problems. The method is a technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS). TOPSIS is a mathematically-derived statistical method useful to offset the biases in the selection process. Features that address both added value and reduced costs are incorporated in the TOPSIS selection process. A numerical example is included to demonstrate TOPSIS fortes

Abstract:
This paper proposes a new mashup framework for end users and discusses the usability of the proposed framework. Recently, a wide variety of requirements for web services has arisen because more users are using web services in their daily lives. However, a single web service cannot satisfy all requirements due to the variety of those requirements. To satisfy the requirements, it is important to have web service mashups which coordinate a number of web services to match the requirements. A mashup framework is a software environment that makes it easy for developers to make mashups. The challenge of this study is to develop a new mashup framework for end users with a new mashup model and modules. The model and the modules are implemented in the proposed framework.

Abstract:
Web services utilizations in Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) have been well established and standardized by Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). Similar web services for 3D SDI are also being established in recent years, with extended capabilities to handle 3D spatial data. The increasing popularity of using <i>City Geographic Markup Language</i> (CityGML) for 3D city modelling applications leads to the needs for large spatial data handling for data delivery. This paper revisits the available web services in OGC Web Services (OWS), and propose the background concepts and requirements for encoding spatial data via Web Encoding Service (WES). Furthermore, the paper discusses the data flow of the encoder within web service, e.g. possible integration with Web Processing Service (WPS) or Web 3D Services (W3DS). The integration with available web service could be extended to other available web services for efficient handling of spatial data, especially 3D spatial data.

Abstract:
This paper describes a framework application for the control plane of a network infrastructure; the objective is to feature end-user applications with the capability of requesting at any time a customised end-to-end Quality-of-Service profile in the context of dynamic Service-Level-Agreements. Our solution targets current and future real-time applications that require tight QoS parameters, such as a guaranteed end-to-end delay bound. These applications include, but are not limited to, health-care, mobility, education, manufacturing, smart grids, gaming and much more. We discuss the issues related to the previous Integrated Service and the reason why the RSVP protocol for guaranteed QoS did not take off. Then we present a new signaling and resource reservation framework based on the cutting-edge network controller ONOS. Moreover, the presented system foresees the need of considering the edges of the network, where terminal applications are connected to, to be piloted by distinct logically centralised controllers. We discuss a possible inter-domain communication mechanism to achieve the end-to-end QoS guarantee.

Full text
Abstract:
The authors of the article studied opportunities and prospects of development of the enterprise service standards complex and defined the components of this complex. It appears that the service standards complex is necessary also for service audit. In the article the service audit is considered as a part of internal audit system and as a part of voluntary external audit. Due to this, it is necessary to ensure the continuity of practice of these types of audit with reference to the developed methodology of service audit. It is expected that the service audit is directed at the assessment of completeness of the service provided by the company and its conformity with needs of consumers. The proposal of the service audit conception presupposes the necessity to define what objects are to be standardized, what set of standards are to be created in order to conduct service audit and achieve representative results. Therefore, the authors presented the results of comparative analysis of development of inner audit methodology with regard to its procedures and principles standardization. The article comprises the main principles of service audit standardization that includes analogue method. Particularly, it was proved that it was expedient to single out the service standards complex and the complex of principles (standards) of service audit conduction. According to the authors, the first group includes service standards of various stages of the proposed product lifespan. The complex of principles (standards) of service audit constitutes the standards that allow to define the object and the subject of service audit, auditor requirements, the procedure of preparation and implementation of a service audit program, requirements for service audit results report etc.

Abstract:
The knowledge of emotions is essential in a wide spectrum of designs created for the customer (e.g. product design, service design, graphic design, food design). The complexity of designing a product-service system to provoke intended emotions involves the need to formulate a shareable, natural, and unambiguous language. This paper presents a language framework to discuss emotions in product innovation, which is composed of three key concepts: the human-product emotional interactions, a categorization of positive emotions and the emotional-jobs-to-be-done. An exploratory survey with an international community of designers has been implemented in order to review the acceptance and understanding of this framework. The results of the exploratory survey have been the basis of the final refinement of the proposed language, which consists of 1) three categories of human-product emotional interaction, 2) 19 positive emotion types, and 3) 19 emotional jobs-to-done.

Abstract:
Service companies in developed countries represent 70–80% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In Spain, within the service sector, tourism is the main contributor and is growing annually. This is obviously an opportunity for the country due to its benefits and economic effects but at the same time a well-structured, sustainable and competitive model for its continued development is needed in order to adopt best practices and reference innovative models from other sectors. A qualitative approach using Case Study, Grounded Theory and Delphi Method has been conducted to study the tourism sector in the city of Gandia, Valencia (Spain). Results show that a tourist destination with its different components and stakeholders involved in its value chain can be interpreted as an ecosystem and so reference ecosystem models could be adopted to boost the development of a region. Considering the results obtained, this study can contribute to the development of a tourist destination in a sustainable and innovative way.

Abstract:
AbstractAimsTo develop an immaturity model for the assessment of logistic processes that can assess the practices that describe the level of criticality, which maturity models do not evaluate, of these processes.OriginalityApplication of the little-known variation of maturity models and immaturity models in business logistic processes.Research methodThe research is conducted from a literature review primarily with terms such as immaturity models and process immaturity. As literature is poor, it is supported by the maturity models developed by various authors in multiple domains.Main findingsAs a result, an immaturity model is obtained for the assessment of the main logistic processes of manufacturing companies. Likewise, the evaluation and the experiences collected from its application in a company of a case study are obtained.Implications for theory and practiceThe studies about immaturity of processes are few. The model is designed for manufacturing companies whose logistics management differs from service companies.

Abstract:
The growing number of the Web Services available on the Web without explicit associated semantic descriptions raises a new and challenging research problem: How to discover efficiently the relevant Web Services that fulfill the user expectations. However, many services that are relevant to a specific user service request may not be considered during the service discovery process. In this paper, the authors address the issue of the Web Service discovery given nonexplicit service description semantics that match a specific service request. Their approach is based on a captured user goal from an HTML form and the traceability and involves semantic-based service categorization, semantic discovery and selection of the best Web Service. Furthermore, the authors' proposal employs ontology matching algorithms to match a specific goal to an existing Web Service. An experimental test of the proposed framework related to the Medical Analysis domain is reported, showing the impact of the proposal in decreasing the time and the effort of the discovery process as a whole.

Abstract:
Recently, cross-border transfers using blockchain-based virtual assets (cryptocurrency) have been increasing. However, due to the anonymity of blockchain, there is a problem related to money laundering because the virtual asset service providers cannot identify the originators and the beneficiaries. In addition, the international anti-money-laundering organization (the Financial Action Task Force, FATF) has placed anti-money-laundering obligations on virtual asset service providers through anti-money-laundering guidance for virtual assets issued in June 2019. This paper proposes a customer identification service model based on distributed ledger technology (DLT) that enables virtual asset service providers to verify the identity of the originators and beneficiaries.

Abstract:
A problem for many organizations is the low continuity of volunteers. Diverse theoretical models have been developed to explain sustained volunteerism, but most of these models have focused on the study of welfare volunteerism and not have verified whether their results could be generalized to other types of volunteerism. In this study, we propose a basic model to explain sustained volunteerism in any type of volunteerism. The aim of this study is to examine this basic model empirically in a sample of socio-assistential volunteers and in a sample of environmental volunteers. For this purpose, 290 volunteers completed a questionnaire and subsequently, two telephone follow-ups were carried out to determine whether the volunteers remained in the NGO one year later. The results show that the basic model offers an acceptable explanation of sustained volunteerism in the two types of volunteer samples studied, but it accounted for a low percentage of variance of the duration of service in both samples. Various relevant implications for the practical management of volunteerism in organizations are derived from theses findings.

Abstract:
Each service interaction between a provider and a customer is an opportunity for the provider to delight, satisfy or disappoint the customer. However, the customers' expectations may change on every interaction. Therefore, defining Service Level Agreements (SLAs) at design time and then restricting the customers' options limits the possibilities for the customers to express their expectations. This is one of the reasons why the services quality is suffering from gaps identified more than two decades ago. In this paper, the authors propose a service quality approach such that SLAs can be specified at execution time (dynamic service levels) in contrast to the usual static SLAs specified at design time. They evaluated the proposal's impact in the service quality gaps using SERVQUAL. The proposal showed improvements in three of the five dimensions measured by SERVQUAL.

Abstract:
The integration of Software Defined Networking (SDN) technologies in Passive Optical Networks (PONs) would provide great advantages to Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Network Operators, since they can optimize the network operation and reduce its complexity. However, some tasks regarding online service and network configuration strategies are difficult to move to external SDN-controllers since they are time-critical operations. However, the control of some of these policies by SDN techniques could lead to better network and management configuration in a centralized and automatic way. As a consequence, we propose and experimentally test the integration of an OpenFlow approach over legacy Gigabit Passive Optical Networks (GPONs), which allows moving some global service configuration policies to an external SDN controller implementing an SDN management layer that adjust these strategies according to dynamic Quality of Service (QoS) requirements of services in residential users. The viability and efficiency of our approach are demonstrated using a GPON testbed and proposing a new business scenario for ISPs and Network Operators.

Abstract:
Biotechnology companies are developing transgenic fish, shellfish, and microorganisms to supplement conventional marine aquaculture and aid in the bioremediation of polluted coastal waters. These products may be ready for open-environment field trials or commercial applications within two to four years. Regulatory authority in the field of marine biotechnology is poorly defined and ill prepared, however, and the science base presently available is not adequate to support credible ecological risk assessment of genetically engineered marine organisms. In response, I offer two specific public policy recommendations: (1) an accelerated program of basic and applied research in marine ecology underwritten by a combination of government and private funds, and (2) the creation of a dedicated unit within the National Marine Fisheries Service responsible for regulatory oversight of transgenic marine organisms. If implemented, these reforms will encourage development in the marine biotechnology industry while laying the groundwork for appropriate ecological risk assessment and management.
