Full textBackground. Long-term implications for patients surviving SARS-CoV-2 infection, mostly for those who experienced critical COVID-19, remain to be uncovered. Objective. To measure the burden of residual disease still detectable approximately three months and one year after discharge in patients underwent to mechanical ventilation during the index hospital stay. Methods. A single-center observational study was performed by including patients discharged alive from hospital admission with main diagnosis of COVID-19, and who underwent mechanical ventilation during hospital stay. Symptoms and a wide range of instrumental signs and CT exams were assessed after approximately three months and one years from index discharge by a multidisciplinary team using standardized procedures. Results. Between March and June 2020, 203 patients were enrolled and agreed to undergo an outpatient visit after two months since discharge. About 60% patients had at least one symptom, 6.5% had low level of saturation during oximetry reading and 85.0% had at least a blood test abnormality. More than 20% patients had at least 50% of the lung parenchyma affected by abnormalities. During the visit, a specialist consultation was requested for 21.2% of the subjects. Globally, just above 20% of the patients still presented severe COVID-19 Residual Illness. Duration of hospital stay longer than 30 days was significantly associated with the risk of having severe residual illness. Conclusion. A large proportion of patients still had clinical and instrumental signs of residual illness approximately two months after discharge. Provision of a coordinated, multidisciplinary long-term assessment should be considered for such patients experiencing critical COVID-19 disease, also in the light of future health planning

Full textCOVID-19 disease related to SARS-CoV-2 infection causes respiratory symptoms ranging from asymptomatic forms to fatal pneumonia. The lack of specific therapies capable of stopping viral replication aroused great concern, especially due to the high percentage of critically ill patients. Several factors, both geographical and socio-economic, condition mortality rates in different countries, but the most relevant is the infection rate, which reflects in the estimate of the ratio between deceased patients and cases of confirmed infection. Currently the most reliable method for diagnosis is (rt)-Real Time PCR molecular analysis of viral RNA on respiratory tract tissue samples taken with a nasopharyngeal swab, although the accuracy of the test is variable depending on the sampling site (nasal or pharyngeal). In this study we considered people who died in two major hospitals in the Liguria region during the first wave of the sars-cov 2 pandemic, comparing the certified causes of death with the diagnostic results obtained through the molecular diagnosis using nasopharyngeal swabs. The aim is to develop a valid tool useful for assessing the actual impact of the pandemic on the overall mortality rate. Data showed a good match between the diagnoses of death with COVID-19 and the finding of at least one positive swab (89.68%), although in 45 cases (10.32%) the clinical diagnosis is not associated with any molecular confirmation. The analysis revealed an increase in the mortality rate (60.3%), although infection is reported as a cause of death only in 41.3%. The study confirms limitations of the diagnostic test and the negative repercussions for the mortality rate estimation. All this increases the uncertainty about the real impact of the pandemic.

Full textDue to the expansion of the COVID-19 in Peru, supermarkets suffered a great economic impact on their operations, being forced to adapt to the new health and protection measures established by the WHO and the Peruvian State to continue with their operations. Supermarkets such as Wong, Metro, Tottus and others, had to implement new organizational communication strategies in order for their own employees to adopt the new security protocols and thus prevent them from being infected or spreading the virus. Another objective that organizational communication seeks to resolve in these times is to mitigate negative perceptions and emotions that the situation may have caused in the customer and replace them with good shopping experiences. The main purpose of this article is to analyze the final perception that customers have about the management of organizational communication and the security measures that were implemented by various supermarkets during the period of social isolation and state of emergency in Peru. To meet this objective, data collection will be used through 15 interviews to determine whether consumers' perceptions and shopping experiences on the actions of supermarkets are positive or negative.

Full textThe objective of this Thesis Plan is to analyze the impact that Covid-19 has had on liquidity and solvency in companies in the hotel sector supervised by the SMV. For this, the percentage analysis is used, in order to study the representation of different elements of the financial statements; and the analysis by means of liquidity and solvency ratios, to evaluate the relationships between items and have a global reasoning in these aspects. Similarly, the sectional financial analysis is used to be able to compare a company against itself in different periods and with others of similar standards, thus identifying strengths and weaknesses in the organization. This research is of the utmost importance, due to the great uncertainty that Covid-19 has caused in the financial markets, requiring information from both internal and external users of the companies regarding issues of liquidity and solvency, to assess capacity compliance with obligations, future prospects, among others, and make appropriate decisions. Regarding the methodology used, this work is of the qualitative type, and is carried out at a descriptive, correlative and analytical level, because it collects and analyzes data, in order to describe an impact, in this sense, it resorts to the use of bibliographic sources, accounting standards, financial statements and spreadsheets to measure the impact on liquidity and solvency in companies in the hotel sector supervised by the SMV.

Full textThe main objective of this Thesis Plan is to analyze if covid-19 impacts on the business strategies of SMEs in Peru in 2020. For this, three specific objectives are presented. The first consists of analyzing whether the covid-19 impacts on the promotion and distribution strategy of the products of SMEs in Peru in the year 2020. The second seeks to analyze if this crisis impacts on personnel management and the third seeks to analyze if the "Reactiva Peru" program 3 generates an impact on the liquidity of those SMEs. In this sense, taking into account that 4.8% of the companies in Peru are small and medium-sized companies, and that 94.9% are micro-companies, the analysis of the impact of this crisis is of utmost importance. For this, a qualitative approach is used, because based on the identified problem, an analysis is carried out using various elements related to the subject. Finally, on the bibliographic references, various theses related to business strategies are used, as well as different journal articles and legal regulations, such as Emergency Decrees or Supreme Decrees which develop the guidelines related to telework, the provision of remote work and to social distancing and confinement. Therefore, the hypothesis of this research is that covid-19 impacts the business strategies of SMEs in Peru in 2020.

Full textGiven the crisis context where we’re going through on these days, these working paper wants to show the main effects that the crisis related to covid-19 virus has brought on Peruvian stock market liquidity level. So, the study pretends to find evidence related whether the virus has generated a positive or negative impact since the first time the virus landed in Perú. Also, verify if theories that relates liquidity with volatility and net returns on the stock market has the same impact in crisis context or it varies due to that. Then, a new variable is included with the purpose of show evidence that relates liquidity on stock market and returns on the cumulated type 3 fund of the Peruvian AFP (pension fund managers). These study follows a simple mean test model and then an econometric model that captures the residual effects of a regression that filters tendency as well as seasonality. Residuals will be used to find the real evidence on the variables we’ve mentioned before. The study finds that there’s a positive relation between liquidity and stock market net returns, but not a clear proof of the effect on the volatility. Then, finds a positive relation between liquidity and the type 3 fund on AFP. Finally, the study shows some possible studies that can be introduced on the second part of the course.

Full textThe main purpose of this research is to define and evaluate the financial impact of the fair value of investment properties (IAS 40) due to the effect of COVID-19 in companies in the construction sector accredited by "Best Place to Live" in Lima, year 2020. The research is based on how the change in fair value impacts financial information for companies in the construction sector. Fair value is a relevant factor for defining the value of an asset, especially in the current situation where the values are constantly fluctuating in an acceptable range for companies. Asset prices fluctuate from the arrival of COVID-19 to the point of change in supply and demand for assets. Inventories within companies in the construction sector exist through the transfer of investment properties. These inventories are considered as such by the operational activities of the companies, since an investment property must undergo a transition to be sold. The transfer of an asset considered as investment property from or to an inventory may include its reclassification. This transfer affects the value of the asset itself by the form of measurement that will be granted, this is due to the nature of the asset due to the change of destination it will have. In the following work we will carry out said evaluation and definition of the fair value of investment properties, in order to demonstrate the existence of a variation in the value of real estate investments. As a result of the investigation, the hypotheses were successfully validated and a correct conclusion was reached.

Full textIn 2020 the world economy has suffered a recession, including Peru, due to the appearance of COVID-19. To mitigate the spread of the virus, the State decreed different regulations, which seek to stop the advance of people infected by the virus. Due to this situation, the motivation arises to be able to explain whether there is an impact from recent legislation and its repercussion on companies. To carry out the situation mentioned before, a research work will be carried out whose scope is explanatory, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design and a mixed methodology. Therefore, this research will explain the application of Supreme Decree 044-2020-PCM and its financial impact on the commerce sector - confectionery sector in the “Mercado Ciudad de Dios” in 2020. Once the field tests were carried out, it was concluded that there is a negative impact of regulations on income, during the investigated period; in expenses, due to compliance with security protocols; in inventory turnover, evidenced in a greater devaluation of inventories; and in profitability, which had a reduction in its profits.

Full textThe purpose of this Thesis Plan is to present the structure of the research project whose main objective is to analyze if Covid-19 generates an impact on the expected credit losses of accounts receivable according to IFRS 9 Financial Instruments of the distribution companies of electric power in Lima iii Metropolitana. The justification for this research project arises from the need to identify the impact of Covid-19 in the determination of the expected credit losses of accounts receivable, especially, in the forecast of future scenarios, the determination of credit risk and the redefinition of the loan portfolio segments. The foregoing will not only favor accounting professionals, but also the different stakeholders of electric power distribution companies. Furthermore, this research looks at an unprecedented health crisis and is therefore expected to help lay the groundwork for related research. Regarding the methodology, this research is of the mixed type, since it will incorporate both the qualitative and the quantitative approach. On the one hand, financial and non-financial information will be collected from the electric power distribution companies. On the other hand, numerical and statistical calculations will be carried out. In this way, it seeks to demonstrate the hypotheses raised.

ABSTRACT The state of alarm decreed in Spain and many other countries around the world in response to the Covid19 pandemic, unleashed in early 2020, limited the mobility of the population, forcing them to confine themselves to their homes. This anomalous situation generated an alteration in certain aspects of the way of living, causing in architecture professionals a demand to deliberate on changes in the design processes of residential projects. The state of global confinement is a phenomenon that will undoubtedly alter every arrangement involved in the life of human beings, and their relationship with the environment in which they inhabit. The gap in knowledge about the final extent of impact and the degree of affectation adds up to the stagnation in domestic space design in contemporary architecture. Therefore, it is imperative to rethink houses, in all its areas, its links, and the role that the domestic space plays in relation to the other spaces sorrounding it. The study begins questioning what analysis the current confinement situation allows in terms of the way of living. In answer to the problem raised two objectives are established: the first will be to identify the relationships between pandemics and advances in domestic architecture, exploring architecture history to make a comparison of the implications derived; and the second, to establish recommendations for the adaptation of domestic architecture as a consequence of the confinement imposed by Covid-19. To this end, the starting point was to disaggregate the significance of the domestic space, under the theoretical concepts considered most relevant, to extrapolate, on a representative sample of the population, this significance to the empirical investigation of the specific experience of the COVID-19 pandemics, conducting an investigation of a qualitative nature with a methodological multiple case study approach. Consequently, after contrasting the theory with the experience, as a way of conclusion some recommendations are suggested with the intend of answering, with greater accuracy, to the abovementioned need of adapting domestic architecture to contemporary reality. Thus, this unprecedented situation generated by the coronavirus pandemic can be used as an opportunity to accelerate the evolutionary process of housing design, based on the reconceptualization of the domestic space, through a paradigm shift in which the individual is the center of the architectural project and the goal is to achieve the upmost feasible comfort for that individual.
