Abstract:
The aim of this research is to understand the Internet impact on Uppsala Nya Tidning (UNT) traditional newspaper. By answering the question; has the internet resulted in UNT developingnew products? A case study was selected. The findings indicate that the internet has resulted in UNT consumers, demanding quick, free, and user-generated news. The fact that the newspaper is presently unable to accommodate these different needs have made the consumers discard the paper, thus causing a decrease in UNT newspaper readership. This, however, resulted in UNT developing  new  products (e.g., Free online reading, tabloid newspaper, and multimedia portfolio).

Precious, Yasmine. "The impact of the internet on self-harm." Thesis, University of Hertfordshire, 2009. http://ethos.bl.uk/OrderDetails.do?uin=uk.bl.ethos.606826.

Full text
Abstract:
This study aimed to investigate the qualitative nature of two different self-harm internet websites (professionally-led and user-led websites) using thematic content analysis (TCA). The second phase of the study posted questionnaires onto both websites to explore participants’ experiences of using self-harm websites and to investigate any relationships between the cultures of the websites and participants’ reports from the questionnaires. The second part of the questionnaire investigated individuals’ views regarding the type of professional support they would ideally like to receive for help with their self-harm. Particular interest was placed on respondents’ views on internet-based ‘professional’ help and whether they regarded it more or less beneficial than traditional face-to-face support (e.g. community mental health teams). The TCA revealed similar cultures between the professionally-led and user led self-harm websites and some subtle thematic differences. The majority of participants’ responses to the questionnaire revealed that they would favour internet based support for self-harm, moderated by both professionals and trained service-uses over face-to-face support. The limitations of the study were noted, with suggestions for future research. Finally, important implications of the research findings for service delivery were provided.

Martin, Ross A. "The impact of the Internet on small firms." Thesis, University of Canterbury. Accountancy, Finance and Information Systems, 1998. http://hdl.handle.net/10092/10353.

Full text
Abstract:
Several researchers have designed frameworks to model and analyse impacts of the Internet on firms. This research takes one such framework aimed at small firms (Lymer et al., 1997b) and attempts to validate its usefulness by comparing it to similar and conflicting models, and by applying it to impacts collected from both the literature and from four case studies of small firms. The findings suggest that several changes to Lymer et al.'s (1997b) framework are necessary to make the model more effective and more practical for researchers and practitioners. A revised Internet impacts model is proposed that incorporates these changes. Preliminary evaluation has been performed on the revised model, resulting in the conclusion that the study makes a valuable contribution to the area of Internet research by significantly enhancing the usability and analytical usefulness of Lymer et al.'s (1997b) Internet impacts model.

Abstract:
The urban population is predicted to increase to 66% by 2050. The rapid growth of urbanization and increasing congestion are significant challenges faced by the world today. Innovative solutions in urban mobility are key for a successful development and a sustainable future. The new paradigm, Internet of Things (IoT), facilitates the need for new approaches in urban transportation, leading to a modern concept: Smart Mobility. The boom of technology and innovation from recent years allowed a great expansion of IoT. Furthermore, the number of smart devices that communicate, cooperate and complement each other, grows rapidly in every domain broadening the scope of IoT applications. This paper sets to discuss the impact that IoT might have on urban mobility, mentioning its implications, challenges and technical solutions. It further reviews the advancements made in the transport infrastructure along the years that support the emergence of Smart Mobility. Three main research questions stay at the forefront of this paper which are drafted in pursuit of the solutions for the problems and challenges currently faced by urban transportation. Which leads to a sustainable future with efficient and effective urban transportation system. The paper uses a mix-method approach, using on one hand qualitative research for literature review (State of the field) and on the other hand quantitative research to assess public opinion on the research topic, through an online questionnaire. To answer the research questions with proper arguments, both research methods were necessary, which lead to optimal results. The results of the questionnaire were interpreted based on Spearman's correlation and descriptive statistical analysis. They brought an in-depth view on the public opinion regarding IoT and the developments enabled by this paradigm within the urban mobility sphere. The output of the questionnaire highlights the eagerness of participants usually stuck in traffic to see innovation within urban mobility. Over all the results based on the opinions suggest that the public strongly believes in the Internet of Thing's applications and its adaptation will benefit the urban transportation system. Furthermore, new developments in the urban mobility sphere will be largely embraced.

Abstract:
The Internet has emerged as a prominent medium of communication. Today, it has become the focus of enormous debate and evaluation. The objective of this study is to examine the evolution of its impact on society. In this regard, various interpretations of its societal impact are provided. First, the debate on the information society exhibits the widespread belief that society is transforming and a new type of society is emerging. Second, a chronological description of the evolution and development of the Internet displays its burgeoning growth and current utility and capacities. Third, optimistic and pessimistic perspectives elucidate opposite views of the potential it can have on society and humankind. Lastly, a synchronic analysis of media coverage, using The Globe and Mail as an illustration, demonstrates the present reporting of its impact. These various interpretations provide an understanding of the Internet's increasing significance and position within society.

Arthur, Colin Michael. "Measuring impact of packet reordering on internet protocol networks." Thesis, University of Strathclyde, 2008. http://oleg.lib.strath.ac.uk:80/R/?func=dbin-jump-full&object_id=21987.

Full text
Abstract:
Packet Reordering in IP networks is a phenomenon which is becoming increasingly important in network performance analysis. Reordering is a consequence of network equipment manufacturers increasing switch and link level parallelism within networks, in the quest for performance, reliability and fiscal gains. Wireless technologies are also expected to increase the amount of packet reordering observable in an end-to-end path. This thesis addresses the issue of measuring the impact of packet reordering on Internet traffic, by proposing a number of measurement methodologies and metrics. Previous techniques assume that packet reordering does not often occur, or make assumptions which severely limit the results obtained. This thesis proposes a twopoint passive measurement technique, which improves on previous methods by allowing lightweight measurement of the amount and extent of reordering observed in a TCP flow, and classification of the cause of each reordering-induced packet retransmission. A large testbed measurement study performed using this technique indicated that TCP is tolerant to large percentages of reordered packets, providing that the delay of these packets is maintained below a threshold relative to Round-Trip-Time. This study further indicated that the effects of TCP packet reordering are not always negative. In specific scenarios reverse-path reordering can increase the overall throughput of a flow. This thesis further proposes a mid-point passive Measurement Technique and Visualisation Metric of TCP packet reordering, designed to classify out of sequence packets for many thousands of concurrent TCP flows. This technique is lightweight to implement and does not require symmetric TCP connections to operate. Finally, this thesis argues that future packet reordering metrics must correlate reordering observed at the network layer, with the resulting impacts observed at the application layer. An example of an application-specific metric is developed for MPEG-4 video over UDP traffic, and this metric is used to describe the effects of packet reordering on streamed video traffic.

Nwoffiah, Lucy Chineze. "E-commerce: the impact of internet technology on retailing." Thesis, Cape Peninsula University of Technology, 2005. http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.11838/1771.

Full text
Abstract:
Thesis (MTech (Business Information Systems))--Cape Peninsula University of Technology, 2005
Where customers have freedom of choice, their level of satisfaction will determine if they are loyal, long-term and profitable customers. If customers are not satisfied they will take their business elsewhere. The increase in the level of satisfaction in key element areas would increase overall customer satisfaction and increase customers' future behaviours such as purchasing on the Internet and recommending the e-retail websites to others. This thesis also explains in the previous chapters that early adopters of eretailing exhibited more of the elements of service transactions than goods transactions and that these elements best explain the e-retailer-consumer relationship. Creating the trust between a customer and its service provider {e-retailer} is one of the key factors in ensuring customer loyalty and retention. Other challenges that were discussed include controlling customer data, integrating on-offline orders, delivering goods cost effectively and handling of returns. Strategies e-retail businesses implement and use in improving product and service quality, gain market share and maintain greater customer loyalty were discussed in this research. If the e-retail businesses can continue to improve consumers' satisfaction they will be rewarded with continued improvement in overall customer satisfaction, customer loyalty and retention and increase profitability. While the Internet certainly poses new challenges for e-retailers, and offers them invaluable new tools, a spate of new research suggests that there is no reason for traditional retailers to consider themselves doomed. The big question is: how does Internet technology assist e-retail businesses to create loyal e-customers?

The present study examined whether married individuals hold boundaries for online social networking and the relationship between these boundaries and relational trust and satisfaction. Participants included 205 married individuals who had been married for an average of 27 years. Five specific boundaries were identified and tested using group comparison (by sex) structural equation modeling. Confirmatory factor analysis revealed two latent constructs for internet boundaries: Openness (3 items: Know Friends, Share Passwords and Account Access) and Fidelity (2 items: No Flirting and No Former Partners). Findings suggest that couples in long-term committed relationships have boundaries or rules for social networking. Furthermore, trusting one’s partner, but not relationship satisfaction, contributes to behaviors that reflect sharing online social networking information, and curb online flirting and relationships with former romantic partners. Trust was more strongly associated with men’s than women’s motivation to avoid flirtatious online interaction and communicating with former romantic partners online. These findings that indicate that the use of internet boundaries is highly related to marital trust support the development theory of trust.

Abstract:
Today communicating sensors are everywhere. There are sensors in our smart phones, in our vehicles, even in our homes. As the technology in electronics and wireless communication is developed more devices is installed all around us. The Internet connected network of physical objects is called the Internet of Things (IoT). The IoT devices send, receive and exchange data in order to control, monitor and optimize. The possible appliances for IoT spans industries, healthcare, cities, airports, and much more. This project targets the current state of IoT, how the development of IoT might affect building services engineering and possible future IoT appliances in buildings. The main appliances of IoT in buildings are energy saving procedures, maintenance improvements, chore automation and security enhancements. Energy saving in buildings has been a hot topic for many years due to global warming. IoT offers the possibility to reduce greenhouse gases, not only locally but also on a grander scheme. This project investigate possible energy savings by assuming that IoT can create an optimal ventilation and heating schedules. The analysis is carried out by simulating energy consumption in an apartment building using IDA ICE. The apartment building used as a reference model is located in Lycksele, Sweden. The result shows a modest energy saving of 100 kWh/apartment for heating and 250 kWh/apartment for ventilation optimization. The conclusion is that energy saving potential of IoT lies in interoperability between devices and the possibility to find correlations between data, not in individual optimizations. The main focus of IoT today in the building sector is to assist facility management with supervision of real estate. Sensors that send information about the state of devices decreases the supervision time of operating technicians. It's fundamental for facility management companies to cooperate with building engineering companies in order to avoid a constant change of batteries in IoT devices installed in buildings. By settle necessary power connections during the construction phase of a building the need for batteries is limited.

Abstract:
Internet addiction (IA) is a relatively new field of academic inquiry. Empirical studies suggest that IA, like other well researched addictive behaviours, has an effect on many aspects of a person‟s life, including academic/work performance, relationships, and physical and mental health (Goldberg, 1996; Young, 1996, 1998). Evidence of IA has been suggested by the findings that some Internet users spend increasingly longer periods of time online and experience withdrawal symptoms when offline. Those preoccupied with Internet-related activities may neglect exercise, family and social activities (Kim et al., 2010; Nalwa & Anand, 2003; Seo, Kang, & Yom, 2009; S. Yang & Tung, 2007; Young, 1998, 2004). Problems arising from excessive Internet use have been documented worldwide, including in Thailand where the use of the Internet has increased noticeably (National Statistical Office, 2008a, 2008b, 2010). It is a particularly common problem among students, as demonstrated in several international studies (Ko, Yen, Yen, Lin, & Yang, 2007; Konstantinos, Evaggelia, Dimitrios, Odysseas, & Nikiforos, 2008; Lam, Peng, Mai, & Ing 2009; Lee et al., 2007; Niemz, Griffiths, & Banyard, 2005; Thomas & Martin, 2010; Zboralski et al., 2009). However, few researchers have investigated IA and its impacts on Thai secondary school students. This thesis fills a gap in the international IA literature by developing a consensus definition and diagnostic criteria of IA, investigating the prevalence of IA among Thai secondary school students, as well as conducting an exploration of the impacts of IA on these students and their prevalence.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of this exploratory dissertation was to gather data regarding information technology and the internet as it related to clinical counselors. The findings have the potential to add to the sparse information base regarding use of technology and the internet in clinical counseling practice. The data for this dissertation was collected by surveying a national sample of 534 clinical counselors who were recruited from state clinical counseling organizations. The survey instrument was done on-line and disseminated via the internet. Of those recruited, 215 counselors were used in the final data analysis. The survey instrument was designed to assess a) the extent to which counselors are knowledgeable of computer technologies, b) the extent to which their clients make use of the internet, and c) the extent to which they believe computer technology contributes to their professional practice. The study found that clinical counselors in this sample rate themselves highly in terms of internet competence and their knowledge of information technologies. However, despite these high rates of knowledge, counselors are not implementing the internet in their counseling practices at very high rates. This research suggests that clients are increasingly becoming more internet savvy and are using the internet in their own mental health research. As such, counselors need to begin to implement internet components into their practice when appropriate.

Abstract:
Despite expectations in the late 1990s that the Internet would lead to frictionless commerce, empirical research shows that electronic commerce is characterized by persistent price dispersion. This paper examines reasons why online price dispersion exists in the books, CDs, and consumer electronics retail sectors. The Internet allows for multi-channel retailing, and it influences supply, demand, and market-related factors for both retailers and consumers. These factors shape retailers’ price-setting abilities which, in turn, shape their pricing strategies. I find that different pricing strategies result in online price dispersion, and I ultimately predict that retail e-commerce markets, which are oligopolistic in nature, will continue to exhibit persistent price dispersion. In particular, price dispersion will decrease the most in the CDs sector, followed by the books and then the consumer electronics sectors.

Hoover, Joseph H. "The impact of Internet GIS on access to water quality information." Thesis, University of Denver, 2014. http://pqdtopen.proquest.com/#viewpdf?dispub=3641992.

Full text
Abstract:

Empowering citizens to comprehend complex environmental issues affecting their daily lives is essential to sustaining a healthy and informed public. The work of many environmental nongovernmental organizations (ENGOs) and institutions of higher education (IHEs) center around helping their stakeholders become informed of, and in turn, better understand complex environmental problems. However, providing individual stakeholders with knowledge about environmental issues that is easily accessible and understandable represents a recurring challenge in today's society. As a result, a gap continues to exist between that which is known about environmental problems and the public's awareness and understanding of those issues. Arsenic contamination of drinking water from privately owned groundwater wells in rural areas of the southwest the United States is one such environmental issue, which is the focus of this research project.

Results from this study demonstrate that an Internet-based GIS application represents a promising tool for informing stakeholders of selected water quality issues and helping stakeholders comprehend the scope of arsenic found in drinking water in rural areas. Specifically, findings from this research suggest that the interactive environment of an Internet GIS is an easy to use technology that facilitates the visualization of arsenic water quality impairment in an accessible format for stakeholders. Feedback from ENGO and IHE professionals (who were the target population in this study) indicated that an Internet GIS application, such as the one used in this project, represents one method to inform stakeholders of drinking water quality issues. This, in turn, contributes to reducing the gap between known scientific information about environmental issues and stakeholder knowledge of the facts and consequences associated with those concerns.

Results from this study inform an important initial step in reducing the knowledge gap (i.e., determining ENGO and IHE professionals' perspectives about the value of use of an Internet GIS for engaging with public stakeholders), leading to the subsequent task of ensuring that public stakeholders are aware of the opportunities to use Internet GIS to become more informed about water quality issues. To advance the findings from this project, additional research is needed to further clarify best practices that ENGO and IHE professionals may employ to disseminate an easily accessible Internet GIS for water quality from rural, unregulated sources. Additional need exists to gather and compare the perceptions of stakeholders with the perspectives of ENGO and IHE professionals to best clarify the use of Internet GIS as a tool to disseminate unregulated drinking water quality information to rural water users.

Abstract:
This study examines the media habits of young people in Saudi Arabia, in particular their use of the Internet and television, and how use of the Internet impacts upon other activities. Using a combination of methods (focus groups, survey and time diaries) this thesis examines the rate of Internet adoption, the different uses of the Internet that are driving its penetration among the population, and the motives of media users in relation to the adoption and use of the Internet compared with television. The study also includes pertinent information regarding the notion of how the use of new media might be seen to be taking over the use of other types of media, whereby a new medium may replace traditional media if the time for media consumption is limited and if the new medium is regarded as more appealing than traditional media. The study has produced results on three main areas: Firstly, in respect of the interaction between the Internet usage behaviour and television viewing patterns, the study has demonstrated that there is a negative association between both mediums in relation to some activities. In other words, the uses of the Internet for social and entertainment functions displaced TV viewing. However, the relationship between the Internet and TV use is more complex scenario because of the multiple applications offered by the Internet. Secondly, with regard to the use of the Internet and television in a social context, television has become a central part of social life within the household where television represents a main source for family time, particularly in Ramadan while the Internet is a solitary activity where it is used in more private spaces. Thirdly, the key findings concern the gender differences of media use, and factors that might explain gender differences. The study found that Saudi females are less likely to engage in certain online activities such as social networking. Furthermore, Saudi females were also more likely to have their Internet access monitored and circumscribed by family members, with parents controlling the location and the amount of time spent using the Internet.

Abstract:
Internet marketing and relationship marketing are becoming prevalent in Australian firms. The advent of the internet has created numerous opportunities for marketing professionals to enhance current marketing practices, including relationship marketing. However, the investigation of marketing relationships in an internet environment is scant. Further, there appears to be no investigation of this phenomenon within the context of Australian service industries. Thus this research attempts to bridge the gap that exists between academia and practitioners by investigating internet-facilitated relationship marketing. Given these gaps in the literature, the research problem investigated in this research is: How does B2B internet use affect inter-firm relationships in service industries? The literature does not investigate this research problem in any depth. However, a framework about internet-facilitated marketing relationship in the extant literature was integrated and synthesised with literature about internet marketing and relationship marketing to arrive at three research issues: RI 1: How does level of internet use affect structural and social bonds in an inter-firm relationship? RI 2: How do structural bonds interact with social bonds in an internet environment? RI 3: How do structural and social bonds determine relationship outcomes in an internet environment? To investigate these three research issues, a combination of qualitative and quantitative two-stage methodological approach was used. The first stage was eleven convergent interviews to build on the extant literature and to further confirm and refine the theoretical framework. In the second stage, a survey methodology was used to test the model about internet-facilitated inter-firm relationships in Australian business internet banking users. Data was analysed and the hypotheses specified in the main model were tested using structural equation modelling techniques. Thus this research involved both theory building and theory testing. The findings of this research have implications for the three research issues. The results for the first research issue showed that the internet has little negative impact on relational bonding in the B2B context. That is, technology-mediated transactions in financial services may not be detrimental to established relationships because trade efficiencies are more of a concern for businesses rather than the social aspects. Information technology-enabled connectivity can facilitate trade efficiency, therefore the relationship. Moreover, the impact of internet use on relational bonds of trust and dependence is moderated by the length of B2B internet use. That is, a longer period of dealing with an exchange partner on the internet facilitates relational bonding. The findings for the second research issue were that most interrelationships between structural and social bonds in an internet environment are in line with the generic literature. The findings for the third research issue are related to the relational outcome as a result of bonding. Although the internet has little direct impact on commitment and intention to stay, it contributes indirectly to the relational outcomes through structural and social bonding. In addition, the findings of this research highlight some important issues in relationship marketing research. That is, inter-relationships of the relational constructs depend on the context in which the relationship exists. The main contribution of this theory building research is the development and confirmation of a final theoretical framework about internet-facilitated inter-firm relationships. That framework is a contribution because it is the first rigorously researched step towards understanding the important confluence of two new and powerful streams of business activity of internet marketing and relationship marketing. This thesis has both theoretical and practical implications in the area of internet marketing and relationship marketing. The framework was built from theory and empirical research to represent this process and provides a foundation for further research.

Abstract:
Astrology is a feature of modern culture. While the academic study of the culture of astrology is on the increase, virtually no scholarship exists on astrology and the Internet. However a large body of literature exists on the relationship between the Internet and religion, and this literature is used as a framework for the study of astrology and Internet. This research investigates the use of the Internet by modern Western Astrologers, within the context of theories of cyberspace. It looks at how the Internet is being used by astrologers and what effects they believe it can have on astrology and its practice. The research was both quantitative and qualitative. Questionnaires were issued at astrological conferences in the United Kingdom and the United States of America. In addition sixty-five astrologers were interviewed. In the 1990s a body of literature was produced that associated the physical Internet with the virtual world of cyberspace. From this literature came claims of cyberspace as dualistic or Cartesian. My research was informed by theories of dualism inherited from the classical world, and by previous arguments that astrology is dualistic. The thesis concludes that the majority of astrologers have a dualistic view of the Internet and cyberspace; the online world of cyberspace is viewed as a mental arena in contrast to the offline, physical world. A highly positive use of the Internet is the growth of online astrological communities; connections can be made with astrologers in different parts of the world. The Internet is perceived as a source of vast quantities of astrological information of varying quality. In the views of the astrologers poor quality astrological information can have a detrimental effect on the practice of astrology in the modern Western world.

Jackson, Nigel. "Online political communication : the impact of the Internet on MPs 1994-2005." Thesis, Bournemouth University, 2008. http://eprints.bournemouth.ac.uk/12339/.

Full text
Abstract:
Existing research on MPs using the Internet (Halstead 2000, Perrone 2002, Ward and Gibson 2003, Jackson 2003, Ward and Lusoli 2005, Ward et al. 2005, Jackson 2005, Auty 2005, Jackson 2006b) has tended to be too reliant on content analysis; restricted to one part of the Internet, and involved limited research on the views of actual users of an MP.s online presence their views of it. This thesis seeks to identify the impact of the Internet on MPs through: their campaigning abilities; the impact on their role as representatives and how MPs communicate. The research triangulates data on the impact of websites, email, e-newsletters and weblogs through content analysis, questionnaires and interviews. The data collated has helped develop a theoretical understanding of how MPs campaign, represent and communicate. First, there is evidence that e-newsletters can be used as effective vote- winners by encouraging constituents to switch votes. This „incumbency effect. (Krasno 1994) suggests that existing research (Curtice and Steed 1997, Butler and Collins 2001) has under-estimated the effect of a personal vote (Cain et al. 1987). Second, websites and e-newsletters are helping MPs develop a new representative role, by providing an „information portal. which encourages local participation. Third, there is evidence that we are on the threshold of a new model of e-representation. MPs. use of e-newsletters appears to be developing a parallel of e-constituency which enhances the relationship geographical constituents have with their MP. At the same time, weblogs are creating a separate e-constituency whose online link to an MP is based on interest not geography. Fourth,a typology has been created for explaining how MPs use the Internet, with four different characteristics:technophobes; bandwagoners; mapie; and pioneers. The Internet is creating a new architecture of representation with both a territorial axis, and an issue axis accessible from the computer keyboard.

Ryan, Jo-Anne. "Exploring the investor relations website : the impact of internet reporting on institutions." Thesis, University of Birmingham, 2011. http://etheses.bham.ac.uk//id/eprint/1530/.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis employed a case study approach to explore the rules and routines that have evolved within the Investor Relations (IR) functions of a large Canadian public company (ABC) from the inception of their IR website in 1997 to 2010. Utilizing weblog analysis, institutional theory (specifically, the Burns and Scapens (2000) institutional framework), and a detailed case study analysis of the interviews undertaken, the findings of this study illustrate that rules and routines of operation within an IR web team are likely to be dynamic and will evolve at a quick pace if the business is actively seeking to employ best practice in its IR website strategy. The results also show how both internal and various external influences are likely to play key roles in altering the rules and routines of IR websites operation. Within the case study presented, five distinct stages of institutionalization were recognized. The analysis framework used provided an effective tool to analyze the internal aspects of these stages. However, it was also enlarged to incorporate specific external influences to show how they play a parallel part in affecting activity in this domain specifically. The findings further show that there is minimal normative isomorphism occurring in this domain. It is proposed that the lack of formalized education in the IR website management and operation area may be playing a key role in constraining the further development of this. Further, the thesis concludes by highlighting the critical need for senior management ‘buy-in’, identification and development of a suitable lead for this activity within the company, and the right context in which they can be allowed freedom to innovate and explore best practices applicable to the online IR function, where-ever they may be found. These features must then be balanced with the overall strategic placement of the IR website as a best practice driver, or follower, to ensure a successful, strategically aligned operation in this domain. While these issues individually have been found to be important in other rapidly innovating business domains, this thesis illustrates and explores their need for the first time, in the IR field in the context of a recognized leader in its field.

According to TWNIC, the public announced number of total population on the internet has been reached 1,593 million in 2012. The growth rate is 3.56%. The rate of the youths before 12 who have internet access are almost 79.18%. Compared with the data five years ago, 70.98% of people on the web less than 3 hours have come to 20% growth. This research places internet utilization as the background, anticipating to provide the basic manifestation of people on the internet in general. Furthermore, this research also expects to inspect the internet addiction and the relationships among internet self-cultivation, social support and life satisfaction. The research exploits ordinary people as research samples, and on-line internet questionnaires for the benefits of easier recovery. Moreover, at the same time, seeking helps from friends and colleagues to gather information by emailing or calling people around. Additionally, I also use laptop or tablet computer to conduct interviews with the public in general. This research has sent 520 copies of questionnaires out, retrieving 507 copies back, deducting 24 copies of invalid questionnaires. The valid questionnaires are 483 copies. After recycling those valid questionnaires, by means of manual examination utilizing SPSS19.0 software as analyzing tools, this research went through descriptive statistical analysis, factors analysis , and reliability analysis to test the validity of the numbers as well as the hypothesis. The main conclusions of the research are as follows: 1.The internet self-cultivation and social support are clearly positively correlated. 2.The social support and life satisfaction are distinctly positively correlated. 3.The internet self-cultivation and life satisfaction are markedly positively correlated. 4.Internet addiction possesses moderating influences on Internet self-cultivation and social support. 5.Internet addiction holds mediating effects on social support and life satisfaction. 6.Social support has intermediary effects to both internet self-cultivation and life satisfaction. This research suggests future investigation can improve by profoundly interviewing experts in subjects, or case by case study. Through enhanced quality and greater quantity of research methods, the investigation can prove that the internet addiction will progress better because of internet self-cultivation, social support and life satisfaction.

The rapid development of information technology has allowed internet financing to grow at an incredible pace. Under this trend, traditional banks need to re- position themselves in order to maintain their competitiveness. The birth of P2P credit loans platform not only enhances market efficiency through internet technology and big data analytics, but also provides faster and more reliable matches among lenders and borrowers. However, compared with the rest of the world, Taiwan’s P2P credit loans platform is still in very early stages. This research aims to identify the development trends, feasible business model and associated risks in establishing P2P credit loans online platform. Through benchmarking against successful applications in the U.S., England and China, we look to provide the most suitable direction in terms of risk management and governing/ oversight for Taiwan’s P2P credit loan platform and internet financing development.
