This thesis proposes to rethink the notion of hospitality in the reception of migrants through the sharing of the artistic practice of drawing. This practice, which is as creative as it is human, has a cross-disciplinary character that encourages the sharing of knowledge and the creation of narrative identities. It enables migrants to experience a welcome in the reciprocity of the encounter, and to escape from a situation of emergency. This experience mobilizes both the poetic and the political by paying attention to each person in the moment so as to invent new ways of overcoming the cultural prejudices that create borders between the people. It has given rise to specific research in artistic practice, in which interdisciplinarity has become a necessity: The role of the artist-researcher has developed from on the exploration and use of tools that combine ethnology, action-research and creative-research to achieve a dialogue, through creation, with the effects of hospitality practices on all participants (including the artist-researcher)

This thesis proposes to explore different representations of Russia through the figure of the Russian emigrant in the film and press cartoons published in France in the inter-war period. First of all, it discusses Russia in exile, a mosaic Russia which contains numerous ethnicities hailing from various locations of the former Russian Empire. These ethnicities thus comprise a large palette of social features (from aristocrats and notable people to those without any titles or professions), professional ones (artists, politicians, military men, workers), political ones (monarchists, liberals, socialist revolutionaries, anarchists), religious, educational and cultural ones. We are therefore interested in the ways that this Russia in exile is perceived and represented by the artists who are nostalgic of their past, emigrant caricaturists and film-makers, as well as French film directors who were passionate about Orientalism and the subsequent “Russian fashion”. Secondly, we capture the ways in which the emigrant artists deal with Soviet Russia, namely the Bolshevik leaders, ordinary Soviet people and their everyday lives. We also look at the notion of communicable experience, which is employed by Walter Benjamin, and different ways in which the life in exile could be communicated both to the emigrant public and to the French one

This thesis is a study of the role of Sevillan civil society in the integration process of migrants, in particular Moroccan migrants. In just a few decades, Spain has gone from the status of country of emigration to the status of country of immigration. This country that wasn't a privileged destination but rather a land of transit, or even a step towards the traditional host countries, became from the 1990s a land of welcome for numerous immigrants. Being very close to Morocco, Andalucia is an area highly exposed to Moroccan immigration. This new reality with which Spain is confronted results in numerous social conflicts arising from the meeting of identity and otherness. However, underlining that today's migrations are the signs of economical and social inequalities of the actual world is no longer enough. The problem raised here both in terms of scientific analysis and ethical reflection is : how to build a reflection that takes into account all the new realities of migrations and not only those of immigration ? How can we approach the issue of immigration when we wonder about how Spain is managing the reception and the integration of migrants in its territory and in particular Moroccan migrants living in the Andalusian capital ? The final purpose of this work is to consider the integration process and really measure the integration of Moroccan immigrants present in the province of Seville

« Exile » is presented in literature as an awful experience where the subject cries desperately after the lost object. Freudian psycho-analysis shows how important it is for the infant to get exiled from the primordial Wohl. The Lacanian definition of « exile » suggests to talk about « exiles », a plural, i.e as a structural disharmony. We have, therefore, wanted to examine the relationship between « exile », foreign langage » and their function for a foreign patient. The other side of our work is to examine the effects of exile upon the next generations. Actually, the main question is in what way both exile and foreign langage are symptoms when the father’s function is inefficient. We have based our everyday work with foreign patients upon a clinical approach which respects the psychic structure, the symptom and the various solutions or subjective inventions looking for a place in this world among men.Key words
Lochmann, Alexia. "Essays on the economics of migration and cultural identity." Thesis, Paris 1, 2020. http://www.theses.fr/2020PA01E018.
This dissertation aims at shedding light on the interplay between human mobility, cultural identity and globalization. The critical role that human mobility and cultural identity play in the history of economic development is undeniable, for both phenomena accompany humankind throughout space and time. The questions I answer in this dissertation intend to focus on three aspects of these phenomena, that are at the core of the current public debate. I address these questions using novel data, partly coming from recently digitized historical files in the context of this doctorate. I provide conceptual, historical and theoretical frames for each topic, while relying on rigorous state-of-the-art econometric methods to infer causality. Following an introduction on the economics of migration and diversity, the core of this dissertation comprises three research papers. The first paper evaluates the effects of language training on the economic integration of immigrants; the second highlights the role of cultural identity and economic factors when taking the decision to emigrate, and the third investigates the effects that misleading information can have on the formation of cultural identity
