Abstract:
In this paper, the poly-Si nanowire (NW) field-effect transistor (FET) sensor arrays were fabricated by adopting low-temperature annealing (600 °C/30 s) and feasible spacer image transfer (SIT) processes for future monolithic three-dimensional integrated circuits (3D-ICs) applications. Compared with other fabrication methods of poly-Si NW sensors, the SIT process exhibits the characteristics of highly uniform poly-Si NW arrays with well-controlled morphology (about 25 nm in width and 35 nm in length). Conventional metal silicide and implantation techniques were introduced to reduce the parasitic resistance of source and drain (SD) and improve the conductivity. Therefore, the obtained sensors exhibit >106 switching ratios and 965 mV/dec subthreshold swing (SS), which exhibits similar results compared with that of SOI Si NW sensors. However, the poly-Si NW FET sensors show the Vth shift as high as about 178 ± 1 mV/pH, which is five times larger than that of the SOI Si NW sensors. The fabricated poly-Si NW sensors with 600 °C/30 s processing temperature and good device performance provide feasibility for future monolithic three-dimensional integrated circuit (3D-IC) applications.

Abstract:
Fast and accurate quantification of gas fluxes emitted by volcanoes is essential for the risk mitigation of explosive eruption, and for the fundamental understanding of shallow eruptive processes. Sulphur dioxide (SO2), in particular, is a reliable indicator to predict upcoming eruptions, and its systemic characterization allows the rapid assessment of sudden changes in eruptive dynamics. In this regard, infrared (IR) hyperspectral imaging is a promising new technology for accurately measure SO2 fluxes day and night at a frame rate down to 1 image per second. The thermal infrared region is not very sensitive to particle scattering, which is an asset for the study of volcanic plume. A ground based infrared hyperspectral imager was deployed during the IMAGETNA campaign in 2015 and provided high spectral resolution images of the Mount Etna (Sicily, Italy) plume from the North East Crater (NEC), mainly. The LongWave InfraRed (LWIR) hyperspectral imager, hereafter name Hyper-Cam, ranges between 850–1300 cm−1 (7.7–11.8 µm). The LATMOS (Laboratoire Atmosphères Milieux Observations Spatiales) Atmospheric Retrieval Algorithm (LARA), which is used to retrieve the slant column densities (SCD) of SO2, is a robust and a complete radiative transfer model, well adapted to the inversion of ground-based remote measurements. However, the calculation time to process the raw data and retrieve the infrared spectra, which is about seven days for the retrieval of one image of SO2 SCD, remains too high to infer near real-time (NRT) SO2 emission fluxes. A spectral image classification methodology based on two parameters extracting spectral features in the O3 and SO2 emission bands was developed to create a library. The relevance is evaluated in detail through tests. From data acquisition to the generation of SO2 SCD images, this method requires only ~40 s per image, which opens the possibility to infer NRT estimation of SO2 emission fluxes from IR hyperspectral imager measurements.

Abstract:
Geographical images are systems of ideas, concepts and stereotypes that represent a particular territory in people's minds. Geographical image is one of the most important means of describing and understanding a country. The study of geographical images is of great practical importance and contributes to various aspects of foreign policy, regional politics, intercultural communication and tourism. The aim of this study is to analyze the image of the USSR of the 1920s and 1930s in the works of the writers of the New Culture Movement on the example of the leading representatives of the movement, Chen Duxiu and Hu Shi. Hu Shi and Chen Duxiu were more concerned with the political image of the Soviet Union, and that their views were closely linked to their own political positions and views. After the October Revolution, Marxism spread widely in China and during this period, Hu Shi and Chen Duxiu lauded the Soviet Union as a great political experiment that deserved praise and opened up new avenues for human society. However, as the shortcomings and problems of the Soviet system became apparent and Chen Duxiu and Hu Shi's rejection of Marxist ideas changed their views of the Soviet Union, they began to criticize its problems and attack the dictatorial rule of Stalin.

Abstract:
This paper reports the application of novel, digital image analysis techniques in the study of slug flow characteristics, under dynamic conditions in two-phase gas-liquid mixtures. Water and an oil of viscosity 18 cP were used for the liquid phase and carbon dioxide was used for the gas phase. Flow in a 75-mm i.d., 10-m long acrylic pipeline system was studied. Images of slugs were recorded on video by S-VHS cameras, using an audio-visual mixer. Each image was then digitized frame-by-frame and analyzed on a SGI™ workstation. Detailed slug characteristics, including liquid film heights, slug translational velocity, mixing length, and, slug length, were obtained.

Abstract:
Abstract. Accurate gas velocity measurements in emission plumes are highly desirable for various atmospheric remote sensing applications. The imaging technique of UV SO2 cameras is commonly used to monitor SO2 emissions from volcanoes and anthropogenic sources (e.g. power plants, ships). The camera systems capture the emission plumes at high spatial and temporal resolution. This allows the gas velocities in the plume to be retrieved directly from the images. The latter can be measured at a pixel level using optical flow (OF) algorithms. This is particularly advantageous under turbulent plume conditions. However, OF algorithms intrinsically rely on contrast in the images and often fail to detect motion in low-contrast image areas. We present a new method to identify ill-constrained OF motion vectors and replace them using the local average velocity vector. The latter is derived based on histograms of the retrieved OF motion fields. The new method is applied to two example data sets recorded at Mt Etna (Italy) and Guallatiri (Chile). We show that in many cases, the uncorrected OF yields significantly underestimated SO2 emission rates. We further show that our proposed correction can account for this and that it significantly improves the reliability of optical-flow-based gas velocity retrievals. In the case of Mt Etna, the SO2 emissions of the north-eastern crater are investigated. The corrected SO2 emission rates range between 4.8 and 10.7 kg s−1 (average of 7.1 ± 1.3 kg s−1) and are in good agreement with previously reported values. For the Guallatiri data, the emissions of the central crater and a fumarolic field are investigated. The retrieved SO2 emission rates are between 0.5 and 2.9 kg s−1 (average of 1.3 ± 0.5 kg s−1) and provide the first report of SO2 emissions from this remotely located and inaccessible volcano.

Abstract:
Studying the relationship of individuals with their own body and appearance as a real sociological question, such was the aim of this thesis. Building on an intellectual astonishment - the difficult constitution that marked the field of the sociology of the body and the huge gap between the omnipresence of aesthetic issues in the social world (including media) and their modest consideration in the Social Sciences world - this aim has been materialized through the implementation of a qualitative survey, conducted between 2013 and 2014, with 60 individuals (32 women and 28 men), aged from 21 to 52 years. The common thread of this study was to outline the terms of the aesthetic experience of individuals (costs, benefits, experiences, relationship with oneself and with others) and we used the analytical tool of gender, real catalyst of the autonomy and aesthetic reflexivity injunctions ongoing in our society since the second half of the twentieth century. The two analytical axes that guide the frame of this thesis are as follows: (1) what are the issues of the two dimensions: "intra-gender", "cross-gender" in the construction of an aesthetic identity, (2) to what extent the dialectic between self-relation and relationships with others could be the base of the aesthetic appropriation of a gendered self? Indeed, studying the appearance as a dramatization of the gender of individuals, has enabled us to highlight how the consistency of the body and aesthetic practices represente essential modalities regarding the contemporary restructuring of gendered lives. Our investigation let us think that the most legitimate analytical posture for a sociology of appearance is the one considering this item "appearance" first and foremost as a reflexive experience to which each individual is faced, relationship with the body constituting a central identity support for the contemporary individual. In this sense, the study of "self-esthetics handiwork" of social actors is in our opinion a relevant guidance for sociologists to grasp the framework of what being an (embodied) individual today in our society represents for everyone

Abstract:
This PhD thesis focuses on the self-presentation of member states in and through their speeches at the United Nations General Assembly. In keeping with the French tradition of Discourse Analysis, it questions the verbal modalities of self-image construction in light of the circumstances in which speeches at the UN are made. How does the self-image of the Member State emerge in a context where speech are submitted to strong restrictions linked to the imperatives of legitimating the institution? The textual corpus is made up of speeches at general debates which each year introduce the ordinary session of the General Assembly: 150 speeches delivered in French by 10 French-speaking member states between the year 2000 and the year 2014. The method of analysis combines qualitative and quantitative perspective, based on one hand on a computer-assisted quantitative linguistics, and on the other hand on lexical, enunciative, pragmatical and argumentative approach. The thesis is subdivided in two parts which correspond to the underlying concerns of the general issue. The first part is devoted to the determination of generic invariants, which are accessed through phraseological objects that emanate from the language practices of all speakers. The second part relates to the self-images of the member states which, in turn, emanate from the remarkable lexical attributes of their different discourses. We thus manage to identify, beyond discursive determinations specific to gender, general strategies used in discourse by the member state for enhancing the self-image, in order to cultivate international recognition. The image of the other is comprehended through the prism of the belonging communities developed in discourse by the speakers. We then observe the representation that a community of states has of another, and how this affects the self-images of the communities. The controversy turns out to be enlightening for our analyzes at this stage, since, in addition to the situations of inequalities between actors that it exhibits, it resolutely draws attention to the ability of the United Nations to unite around common values actors defending divergent stakes

Abstract:
A small-scale physical modelling system was developed and employed to investigate the effects of tube sampling. Amorphous silica and an oil blend of matching refractive index were mixed to form a transparent soil. Black glass beads were embedded within the soil body on the vertical central plane. After consolidation in a Perspex box, a glass model sampler was pushed into the transparent soil. Movements within the soil body were recorded using digital photography; these images were later analysed by Particle Image Velocimetry. The centreline strain path (CSP) of the sample during tube penetration was calculated and compared to existing analytical and numerical models’ strain predictions, and some degree of correlation was observed. However, it is shown that the CSP is not constant throughout the sample, but varies with depth below the base of the borehole. It was also noticed that after tube penetration, significant residual extensive strains remain for soil on the centreline of the specimen. Different tube geometries were tested and a correlation was found between strain magnitudes and the Area Ratio, Inside Clearance Ratio and the Outer Cutting Edge Taper Angle. It was also found that samples taken in normally consolidated soils were more heavily disturbed than those in lightly overconsolidated soils. After removal from the soil model, samples were stored for six months and volumetric strains within them, set up by a redistribution of pore fluid pressures, were found to be small, typically less than 1%. Soil at the edge of the sampler wall reduced in volume, while the centre swelled. Specimens were thereafter extruded from the sampling tube and the strain path created by this step was quantified. It was found that extrusion compresses the soil while still inside the tube, with soil closest to the extruder more significantly affected. All of these parts of the sampling process contribute to the overall sample disturbance and can therefore have an effect on the sample’s measured properties.

Abstract:
Can we content ourselves with the lack of objective data on a population as numerous in france as the administrative personnel? this is the issue of professional recognition which is here dealt with under the assumption that administrative personnel possesses craftsmanship. First, a brief historical sketch of the representations of administrat work and those that carry it out leads to the observation that, ever since the beginning of criticism against bureaucrac office clerks have always been disparaged by the public opinion complaining about the excessive power of administrations, for instance in popular literature and theater in the 19th century. As a matter of fact, even today, th administrative personnel remains tributary to this social representation. The 1960s and 70s are another important period of time, when the sociology of organizations and the movement of reflection on the social classes started to deal with t place of this rising category in the society. The first part of this research ends with a presentation of the administra personnel's search for an identity through the exteriorization of their professional experiences. A three-year field stu in a big public organization led to the reconstruction of the professionalcurriculum of abourt 50 office clerks ; the ce part of this thesis concerns the transformation of jobs into a crait. The concept of craft is here defined as a hard cor expertise, a common reference for secretaries and office clerks. As for the nature of administrative work, it is here defined through the obstacles encountered by the employes wehn describe their activity : an intangible material (information), indirect objectifes (the administration is a support for production), an uncertain ratio of work hours to yield, a definition of the professional specialty that is hardly operative in its traditional sense etc. This method, wh proper to the specificities of administrative work, leads to the more general issue of the sociologist's mode of intervention in an organization that is dealt with in the third part. At which stages of his approach is it necessary t0

Abstract:
Luther's tischreden (table talk), an important medium of the reformer's concepts, have often been overlooked by critics. Yet the diversity of the themes he tackled gives us an overall view of his ideas and concerns during the latter part of his life which was characterized by his polemics against the turks, the jews and the pope. Based on the weimar edition, the present study establishes luther's perception of the germans and foreigners (italians, jews, turks) and endeavours to bring to the fore the extent to which this image was dependent on existing stereotypes or created new ones. If due to the cultural antagonism between germany and italy, one notices a symmetry concerning a number of stereotypes (the simplicity, naivety, love of truth of the germans as opposed to the cleverness, cunning and mendacity of the italians), and if the image of italy suffers from its identification with the papacy, one is not aware in luther of any particular glorification of germany; on the contrary the faults of the germans in general and of each german region in particular are denounced without any pity. The christian anti-judaism and the prejudices it conveys are taken up by luther, as by the majority of his contemporaries; however the tischreden, often filled with hostility, do not peddle the calumny contained in his last writings. Despite his visceral suspicion, luther does not remain insentive to the fate of the jewish people. The image of the turks is centred on the fear raised by the political and military events on the one hand and on the muslim religion on the other; the latter lutter refuses to view any differently than as a lie. The comparison between the qualities and defects of each group with those of the world in general reveals that luther's arguments are essentially religious. His intention is not to stigmatize the particular defects of each nation but to denounce everywhere the different forms of sin from which man cannot escape

Abstract:
Septembre 1870.

Abstract:
Water jet is utilized in various industrial application such as cutting carious materials and soil. In particular, jet grouting for soil improvement is one of the most important application of water jet under high pressure and high liquid flow rate. Such technology is already in practical use in civil engineering. In order to improve the efficiency and performance of jet grouting, it is quite important to clarify the hydrodynamic structure of water jet under high pressure and high flow rate. However, basic researches on this subject are quite insufficient both experimentally and analytically. Water jet utilized in jet grouting is usually very high speed ( up to 500 m/s) two-phase dispersed flow. Therefore, it is quite difficult to make visual observation of such water jet using conventional optical methods. In the present work, the authors utilized high sensitive CCD camera with image intensifier of which gate speed is 10 ns. Using this optical device, the authors obtained still image of high speed water jet for the first time. Visual observation revealed that high speed water jet is composed of very fine droplets and has complicated structures such as swirl and cluster of droplets. Velocity of water jet was also measured using two consecutive images taken between 10 microsecond. Such direct measurement of jet velocity of high speed water jet has not been carried out so far. The result indicated that jet speed (droplet speed) is even very high even at the boundary of water jet. Measure water jet velocity was reasonably correlated with jet velocity at the exit of nozzle.

Abstract:
In sacred musical works we find structures and composing solutions that introduce a specific action, similar to visual elements. What are the means for the architectural and sound space that create a sacred space? Are there playing in common? I answer this question on the basis of contemporary architecture (e.g. Church of Light by Tadao Ando in Ibaraki/Japan, Fritz Hogers Kirke in Berlin/Germany, Basilica Sanctuary of Our Lady of Tears by Stephane Aboudaram in Syracuse/Italy) confronted with music dedicated to the sacred sphere. In accordance with the currently developed cognitive interpretation, I will guide towards the sphere of experience and define a sacred place as an area where you can feel safe, surrounded by somewhat mysterious; calm down, focused on, forget about reality. At this place you can also be moved, sublimed and touched by presence of eternity, and share or express the fullness of life emotions. I present a musical analysis of sacred elements on the examples of works by contemporary Polish composers focused on the image of the suffering Mother of God under the cross of her son: Luctus Mariae by Pawel Lukaszewski from 2010 based on the Latin version of the Stabat Mater sequence, referring to the convention of the Italian madrigal theater from the 18th century and representing a severe beauty of the contemporary vision of meditation, and Stabat Mater by Ignacy Zalewski from 2018 making the suffering of the Mother of God more real basing on the contemporary version of a medieval sequence in a current experience of symbolic performative and vivid image that can be shared by the recipient.

Abstract:
Driven by the demand for innovation, design is constantly evolving and is increasingly focused on integrating new technologies into design processes. Technological innovations have proven to be of fundamental importance, both in speeding up and improving production processes and managing and enriching the ideational process. We are now surrounded by software in which the participation of artificial intelligence is constant, but although it has become pervasive, we often do not even notice its presence. In the field of product design, several software exploiting artificial intelligence have been diffused to provide us with virtual products at the two-dimensional level. These software are capable of transforming the ideational stages of a project, as they generate original idea proposals in a matter of minutes. One of the most popular software is Midjourney, which is based on the key text-to-image concept, and can create images from prompts, and descriptive keywords provided by the designer. There are also interesting examples in this regard. Think of the work done by Filippo Nassetti, a British architect and designer, who came up with a series of sunglasses and eyeglasses by going through Midjourney, to obtain zoomorphic-inspired products that recall the textures of biological and mineral microstructures. The surreal collection of biomorphically shaped glasses is an example of the exploration of the creative potential of Midjourney software.Another interesting project is the one tackled by the Oio company for the Spawns spoon collection, in collaboration with Giosanpietro Jewelry. According to Simone Rebaudengo, director and co-founder together with Matteo Loglio of the Oio company, the products in the Spawns collection derive from an ongoing dialogue between different skills that has led to the collaboration between man and algorithm, resulting in an expansion of the handmade, merging the ancient world of craftsmanship with that of advanced technology, defining what they call 'craft intelligence. The paper aims to explore the relationships, potentials and limitations of integrating artificial intelligence into the design process through a design experience that tests the innovative potential of text-to-image software in product ideation and reflects on the redefinition of the designer's role in this rapidly and continuous changing scenario. The case study presented therefore experiments with a design process in which the ideation phase is supported by AI, particularly by text-to-image software, which allows textual descriptions to be translated into visual representations, generating highly detailed images and offering new creative possibilities. The work addressed outlines perspectives and critical issues, which deserve further investigation. On the one hand, one potential that is being outlined is the possibility of visualizing even complex ideas by entrusting the imaginative component to the software, having a multiplicity of alternatives and expanding the ideational range with novel solutions from which to make more informed design choices. Text-to-image software also simulates effective virtual prototyping, allowing a concept to be prefigured and visualized in a three-dimensional context before committing to physical production. On the other hand, text-to-image software has some significant limitations, for example in the poor correspondence of generated images with design intentions and the designer's need to acquire technical skills to effectively use text-to-image software, going on to delineate the possibility of a figure such as that of the prompt designer. Therefore, the presented project aims to contribute to the contemporary debate on the integration of AI into design processes with the collaboration of text-to-image software as another avenue for innovation in product design. The scenario sketched out defines an area in which the role of the designer and human creativities proves irreplaceable, leaving one to understand how more and more a process of understanding and collaboration with AI technologies is needed, and how the skills required of future designers are going to vary and expand.Nozaki, N., Konno, E., Sato, M., Sakairi, M., Shibuya, T., Kanazawa, Y., & Georgescu, S., 2017, Application of artificial intelligence technology in product design. Abstract:
The binary phase gratings (BPGs) for generating multispot array1 (called Dammann grating) are promising optical fan-out elements for applications including fiber-optic star couplers, free-space optical interconnections, and multiple image arrays. The conventional BPGs, however, have been so far mainly developed for odd numbered spot array generation because of its simplicity of design algorithm.2 We present a novel method of designing the BPGs for generating selective order missing (SOM) spot arrays including odd numbered, even numbered3, and irregularly spaced spot array. Gradient descent rule with variable target values in the merit function is introduced as a nonlinear optimization algorithm. The uniformity of the SOM array is very high such that the standard deviation of the beam array intensity is less than 10−6. It is also found that when the structure of the grating is symmetric in a period, it should be anti-symmetric in each half period in order to get an even numbered spot array, and vice versa. The designed BPGs are also experimentally demonstrated using the conventional e-beam lithographic technique on a quartz substrate. The SOM spot array may be applicable to the digital optical processing systems using S-SEED and smart pixel devices.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to determine the artistic and graphic peculiarities of the Franco-Belgian exhibition poster of the 1890s in the context of the formation of the Art Nouveau style. The research methodology of the work is based on the use of traditional art methods: historical and cultural, reconstructive and model, historical and attributive, which contributed to the revealing of artistic and graphic transformations in the field of Franco-Belgian spectacular poster. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the author’s artistic interpretation of the stylistic manner of the creators of the spectacular poster in “style floreale” as one of the leading directions of the development of the artistic style of that period. The distinctive features of this type of the artistic work are outlined on the basis of the review of the stylistic and image transformations of exhibition posters of the famous artists – J. Chéret, A. Toulouse-Lautrec, E. Grasset, A. Mucha, A. Privat-Livemont and others. Attention is focused on the identification of the presentation features of the advertised exhibition events as an important cultural events of that time. Means of artistic visualization of information are studied taking into consideration the specific nature of the poster. Conclusions. In the general cultural and historical context of that time, the poster has become a significant component of the formation of national trends in the artistic style of the day, in particular - the Franco-Belgian Art Nouveau style. The exhibition poster, reflecting the stylistic landmarks of the time, contributed to the formation of the artistic vision as a manifestation of the cultural and artistic landmarks of the studied period.

Abstract:
We provide an updated presentation of the spectacular erosion forms at French River Ontario (Kor et al. 1991) based on new methods of data collection and wider observations. This work includes ~ 10 more detailed study sites, documentation of the range of forms over a larger area, the use of extensive drone image capture and ground surveys, as well as a detailed inventory of forms. Key sites are illustrated using video images. The update extends the conclusions of the Kor paper regarding the significance and scale of subglacial meltwater erosion with some novel findings. We document the importance of plucking (including hydraulic plucking) and, the control of structure on s-forms, which were not highlighted in the Kor study. Apparent cavitation erosion forms are prominent across the study area and provide support for inferred high-velocity meltwater flow. A growing interpretative framework includes discussion of evidence to test a theorized hydraulic sequence of sheet-channel-distributed flow, followed by re-grounding of glacial ice as meltwater flow waned. This hydraulic sequence may also be complementary to observations in thick sediment terrain down flow.

Abstract:
Based on literature review it was established that the use of augmented reality as an innovative technology of student training occurs in following directions: 3D image rendering; recognition and marking of real objects; interaction of a virtual object with a person in real time. The main advantages of using AR and VR in the educational process are highlighted: clarity, ability to simulate processes and phenomena, integration of educational disciplines, building an open education system, increasing motivation for learning, etc. It has been found that in the field of physical process modelling the Proteus Physics Laboratory is a popular example of augmented reality. Using the Proteus environment allows to visualize the functioning of the functional nodes of the computing system at the micro level. This is especially important for programming systems with limited resources, such as microcontrollers in the process of training future IT professionals. Experiment took place at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University and Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A. S. Makarenko with students majoring in Computer Science (field of knowledge is Secondary Education (Informatics)). It was found that computer modelling has a positive effect on mastering the basics of microelectronics. The ways of further scientific researches for grounding, development and experimental verification of forms, methods and augmented reality, and can be used in the professional training of future IT specialists are outlined in the article.
