Braizaz, Marion. "L'esthétique de soi : individu(s), corporéité(s) et apparence(s) genrée(s)." Thesis, Sorbonne Paris Cité, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016USPCB229.
Studying the relationship of individuals with their own body and appearance as a real sociological question, such was the aim of this thesis. Building on an intellectual astonishment - the difficult constitution that marked the field of the sociology of the body and the huge gap between the omnipresence of aesthetic issues in the social world (including media) and their modest consideration in the Social Sciences world - this aim has been materialized through the implementation of a qualitative survey, conducted between 2013 and 2014, with 60 individuals (32 women and 28 men), aged from 21 to 52 years. The common thread of this study was to outline the terms of the aesthetic experience of individuals (costs, benefits, experiences, relationship with oneself and with others) and we used the analytical tool of gender, real catalyst of the autonomy and aesthetic reflexivity injunctions ongoing in our society since the second half of the twentieth century. The two analytical axes that guide the frame of this thesis are as follows: (1) what are the issues of the two dimensions: "intra-gender", "cross-gender" in the construction of an aesthetic identity, (2) to what extent the dialectic between self-relation and relationships with others could be the base of the aesthetic appropriation of a gendered self? Indeed, studying the appearance as a dramatization of the gender of individuals, has enabled us to highlight how the consistency of the body and aesthetic practices represente essential modalities regarding the contemporary restructuring of gendered lives. Our investigation let us think that the most legitimate analytical posture for a sociology of appearance is the one considering this item "appearance" first and foremost as a reflexive experience to which each individual is faced, relationship with the body constituting a central identity support for the contemporary individual. In this sense, the study of "self-esthetics handiwork" of social actors is in our opinion a relevant guidance for sociologists to grasp the framework of what being an (embodied) individual today in our society represents for everyone
Tchemako, Yongue Olivia. "Images de Soi et de l'Autre dans les discours européens et africains aux Nations Unies." Electronic Thesis or Diss., Toulon, 2021. http://www.theses.fr/2021TOUL3003.
This PhD thesis focuses on the self-presentation of member states in and through their speeches at the United Nations General Assembly. In keeping with the French tradition of Discourse Analysis, it questions the verbal modalities of self-image construction in light of the circumstances in which speeches at the UN are made. How does the self-image of the Member State emerge in a context where speech are submitted to strong restrictions linked to the imperatives of legitimating the institution? The textual corpus is made up of speeches at general debates which each year introduce the ordinary session of the General Assembly: 150 speeches delivered in French by 10 French-speaking member states between the year 2000 and the year 2014. The method of analysis combines qualitative and quantitative perspective, based on one hand on a computer-assisted quantitative linguistics, and on the other hand on lexical, enunciative, pragmatical and argumentative approach. The thesis is subdivided in two parts which correspond to the underlying concerns of the general issue. The first part is devoted to the determination of generic invariants, which are accessed through phraseological objects that emanate from the language practices of all speakers. The second part relates to the self-images of the member states which, in turn, emanate from the remarkable lexical attributes of their different discourses. We thus manage to identify, beyond discursive determinations specific to gender, general strategies used in discourse by the member state for enhancing the self-image, in order to cultivate international recognition. The image of the other is comprehended through the prism of the belonging communities developed in discourse by the speakers. We then observe the representation that a community of states has of another, and how this affects the self-images of the communities. The controversy turns out to be enlightening for our analyzes at this stage, since, in addition to the situations of inequalities between actors that it exhibits, it resolutely draws attention to the ability of the United Nations to unite around common values actors defending divergent stakes

Can we content ourselves with the lack of objective data on a population as numerous in france as the administrative personnel? this is the issue of professional recognition which is here dealt with under the assumption that administrative personnel possesses craftsmanship. First, a brief historical sketch of the representations of administrat work and those that carry it out leads to the observation that, ever since the beginning of criticism against bureaucrac office clerks have always been disparaged by the public opinion complaining about the excessive power of administrations, for instance in popular literature and theater in the 19th century. As a matter of fact, even today, th administrative personnel remains tributary to this social representation. The 1960s and 70s are another important period of time, when the sociology of organizations and the movement of reflection on the social classes started to deal with t place of this rising category in the society. The first part of this research ends with a presentation of the administra personnel's search for an identity through the exteriorization of their professional experiences. A three-year field stu in a big public organization led to the reconstruction of the professionalcurriculum of abourt 50 office clerks ; the ce part of this thesis concerns the transformation of jobs into a crait. The concept of craft is here defined as a hard cor expertise, a common reference for secretaries and office clerks. As for the nature of administrative work, it is here defined through the obstacles encountered by the employes wehn describe their activity : an intangible material (information), indirect objectifes (the administration is a support for production), an uncertain ratio of work hours to yield, a definition of the professional specialty that is hardly operative in its traditional sense etc. This method, wh proper to the specificities of administrative work, leads to the more general issue of the sociologist's mode of intervention in an organization that is dealt with in the third part. At which stages of his approach is it necessary t0
Laharpe, Nicole de. "Les stereotypes nationaux dans les tischreden de luther. Image de l'autre et image de soi." Strasbourg 2, 1997. http://www.theses.fr/1997STR20076.
Luther's tischreden (table talk), an important medium of the reformer's concepts, have often been overlooked by critics. Yet the diversity of the themes he tackled gives us an overall view of his ideas and concerns during the latter part of his life which was characterized by his polemics against the turks, the jews and the pope. Based on the weimar edition, the present study establishes luther's perception of the germans and foreigners (italians, jews, turks) and endeavours to bring to the fore the extent to which this image was dependent on existing stereotypes or created new ones. If due to the cultural antagonism between germany and italy, one notices a symmetry concerning a number of stereotypes (the simplicity, naivety, love of truth of the germans as opposed to the cleverness, cunning and mendacity of the italians), and if the image of italy suffers from its identification with the papacy, one is not aware in luther of any particular glorification of germany; on the contrary the faults of the germans in general and of each german region in particular are denounced without any pity. The christian anti-judaism and the prejudices it conveys are taken up by luther, as by the majority of his contemporaries; however the tischreden, often filled with hostility, do not peddle the calumny contained in his last writings. Despite his visceral suspicion, luther does not remain insentive to the fate of the jewish people. The image of the turks is centred on the fear raised by the political and military events on the one hand and on the muslim religion on the other; the latter lutter refuses to view any differently than as a lie. The comparison between the qualities and defects of each group with those of the world in general reveals that luther's arguments are essentially religious. His intention is not to stigmatize the particular defects of each nation but to denounce everywhere the different forms of sin from which man cannot escape
