Full textIn the last decades, landscape, intended both from the objective and subjective point of view as a manifestation of visible and invisible structures, has been greatly influenced by the effects of the globalization which has revolutionized the space-time dimension, thus creating a new way of dwelling on earth. With the aim of highlighting how landscape, its theories and representations have changed under the impulse of the processes of the current historic phase, in this paper after having introduced a reference terminology grid we passed on to inquire into the evolution of the relationship between man and nature, beginning from the mythical creations to landscape ecology. As the changing of landscapes, from the agrarian to the metropolitan one, is however at the same time also an expression of a society and its culture, here we first analyze the changes of the symbolic and semeiotic structures of landscape and their transposition in artistic works, to focus afterwards on the changes of the urban landscape, which is considered the one in which globalization has most expressed its peculiarity, in the direction of a diffuse urban spatiality. Finally, in the light of such reflections, the features of the post-modernity global landscape will be enucleated by analyzing some of its most specific types, beginning with the non-lieux and heterotopies until sprawl and Third Landscape.
Lorenzi, Federica. "Il paesaggio nell'opera di Nico Orengo." Thesis, Université Côte d'Azur (ComUE), 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016AZUR2029.
Full textThis thesis is the first monograph about the work of the Italian writer and journalist Nico Orengo (Turin, 1944-2009), the author of poetry collections, short stories and novels, nursery rhymes and children’s short stories. Even if critics have admitted the value and the interest of his work and despite portraying Orengo as one of the most original voices of contemporary Italian literature, not a single work of interpretation and analysis has yet to be written about him. This work aims to fill that void, showing that Orengo was a precursor for both the themes he approaches and the modalities of his writing style. All of his texts have been analysed through the landscape. The interest of this choice lies in the fact that Orengo, although a native of Turin, set almost all of his work in Liguria, focusing on a particularly defined and distinguishable landscape; the far west landscape, between France and Italy, the original region of his family. This allows us to show how Orengo uses this landscape reality, how he re-elaborates it in his writings and the meanings he gives to it, if he makes a coherent construction of it or, on the contrary, whether this construction changes over time and according to the genre of literature. The aim is to show what landscape writing consists of. Composed of three parts, this thesis is introduced by a preamble that defines the subject of this analysis, explaining the issues of research on the landscape in literature. On the methodological level, it is based on the perspective of landscape as proposed by Michel Collet and is inspired by his approach, appealing to thematic critics, but also to linguistics, stylistics and phenomenology
Annibaletto, Matteo.

Full textThis research proposes a virtual reconstruction method based on the relationship between historical-artistic and archaeological knowledge and experimentation with new representations of medieval landscapes through the use of digital graphics. The argument is based on the experience gained in more than four years of developing organizational strategies, methods of translation and data communication within contexts of archaeological interest. The practical application of the study, expressed through the graphic contribution, testifies to the consolidation of traditional restoration and reconstructive development processes, obtaining innovations on a technical level and interdisciplinary research. The argument is organized through two main parts: The first part aims to identify the elements that affect the imagination when it comes to the Middle Ages. We will begin by addressing the theme of the narration of history within the cinema; continuing with a comparison between scientific and artistic tools framed within the context of the enhancement of cultural heritage and scientific dissemination; subsequently the theme of the landscape and the scenic construction will be studied in depth in order to face the last chapters dedicated to Virtual Archaeology and computer graphics. Each topic will be treated on the basis of an interdisciplinary approach in which the synergies and contrasts between different thinking and work logics will be highlighted. The second part, on the other hand, will be characterized by an archaeological setting which highlights the steps of analysis of the find, architecture and landscape up to the description of the process of its virtual reconstruction. The result is a product written through the frequent use of iconographic references associated with attention to the applied method.

Full textWithin the complex scenario of architectural research in recent decades, this study identifies and investigates the common thread that links, transversally compared to different linguistic styles, the theories and proposals around an idea of landscape as a theoretical paradigm through which design experimentation has opened up to new configurations that more effectively reflect the changeable, dynamic and contradictory reality of our era. Seen in this way, the landscape, with its intrinsically interdisciplinary nature, is treated as a research tool and a model of thought which is used insofar, compared to other consolidated models, as it manages more efficiently to represent and synthesize the ever more multiform and articulated nature of the project. By means of this new alliance, architecture has seen the creation of new research paths, new possibilities of expression, new formal categories and new contextual relations that have determined profound changes starting from its fundamental concepts of space, form and material. The research was subdivided into four different sections: the first presents the theoretical matrices at the base of this new paradigm, in the second three recurrent themes are identified in the context under scrutiny, the third sees an analysis of the design paths of three different – by geographical and design culture – internationally renowned contemporary architects that more or less consciously draw on this model of thinking, and in the fourth some design experiments are presented which were carried out at the University of Ancona. Together, this material demonstrates how architecture, through the landscape, opens up to dialogue, to comparison, to contamination, to hybridization with other contexts, crossing new thresholds that make it able to update its statute vis-à-vis the new themes and new applications of society and the contemporary world.

Full textThe overlook on the Emilian landscape offers us many causes for an architectural, landscaping and anthropological reflection about the identity of the Italian condition, in a time of crisis and decline, second thoughts and the longing for change. The research aims to open a question on the future of the rural abandoned landscape, focusing on hidden and less known things of our architectural tradition that are hanging in the balance between “not being anymore, not yet being”, an undefined condition very common in the contemporary times. The rural chapels theme of the research discovered in an abandoned state, tell us about that silent and invisible action of time, revealing the essence of the places not as a chronicle of a foretold death, but as a promise of a renewed life for every new cycle. The research considers, as a basis for the reflection, the original meaning of these stratified places where the current empty space is fertile and useful because it can bring out connections between things that would have been invisible in other ways. The work began photographing the presence rather than the absence, seeing the past as a fertile material, which let us perceive a future: the research coincided with a trip to the plains of Emilia - just as Luigi Ghirri and Gianni Celati did - to take a look back to the meaning of rural chapels, disconnected from their original function but still bounded to the territory that has been profoundly shaped and modified by the work of man. It was decided to inscribe this category of buildings as “architecture without architects”, a theme developed in the beginning of the twentieth century with a few awards and honours, that was cyclically proposed again over the years and today is still actual, although it is partly unexplored.

Full textAim of thesis is to face practical problems related to the land management and biodiversity conservation, using methods of landscape analysis through approaches of synphytosociology. Studied area is Sila Grande (Calabria, S Italy), for which an exhaustive bibliographic analysis was carried out and cartographic materials collected. Spatial data and different themes were organized in a GIS, proceeding with a first segmentation (environmental patches identification) based on geomorphologic, geological land use, bioclimatic, etc. In addition an analysis of mountainous plant communities has been carried out, based on 1047 phytosociological relevés (554 original) in order to investigate paleo-geographic, ecological and anthropic factors that influence flora and vegetation diversity. Data from literature and field studies (1998-2013) have been critically analyzed in order to clarify syntaxonomic position of the main vegetation types. Twenty-six new syntaxa (associations and subassociations) are proposed and an updated sintaxonomic scheme is presented. Querco-Fagetea and Molinio-Arrhenetheretea are the most represented classes in the area due to the bioclimatic factors. Wet communities (Isoeto-Nanojuncetea, Nardetea strictae, Scheuchzerio- Caricetea fuscae, Montio-Cardaminetea and Littorelletea uniflorae) have a significant biogeographical importance thanks to a rich group of boreal species. This “Nordic imprint” of the flora, vegetation and landscape is of special interest and its peculiarities are analyzed from ecological and biogeographycal point of view. Mediterranean and sub-Mediterranean elements prevail in dry grasslands and shrublands. Some problems about dynamics of vegetation are discussed such as the role of black pine communities and their relations with beech forests, trying also to give clues for conservation strategies and management.

Full textCalabria is one of the Italian region less known from geobotanical point of view. Aim of this research is to carry out a floristic, phytosociological synphytosociological study of the Uria Stream hydrographic basin (Catanzaro). Study area (72.8 square Km), has altitude ranging 0-1,300 m a.s.l., a complex geomorphology (faults, steep slopes, cliffs, gorges) and a wide substrata diversity. Vascular flora counts 846 species (454 genera, 107 families): 1/3 of the regional flora into 1/200 of the surface. Several are species of phytogeografical interest (Pteris cretica, Osmunda regalis, Paraceterach marantae, Woodwardia radicans, Ephedra distachya, Acer lobelii, Helianthemum jonium, Berteroa obliqua, Dianthus vulturius, Lomelosia pseudisetensis, Armeria brutia, Salix brutia, Tilia platyphyllos ssp. pseudorubra, Stipa oligotricha, Typha minima, Veronica anagalloides, Platanus orientalis). Among the endemics (4.6%) also a species (Centaurea calabra) recently described for this territory as part of this research. Outputs of the phytosociological study are a number of associations, series of vegetation and geosygmeta. Have been also recorded rare associations, some of which for the first time in Calabria (Cheilantho maderensis-Notholaenetum marantae, Helianthemo jonii-Thymetum capitati, Petasiti hybridi-Platanetum orientalis) and even new sintaxa (community with Dianthus vulturius and Centaurea calabra, Gypsophilo arrostii-Stipetum olotrichae, Gypsophilo arrostii- Hyperrhenietum hirtae, Anthyllido maurae-Lomelosietum pseudisetensis, Euphorbio arbusculae-Alnetum glutinosae, Drymochloo exaltatae-Platanetum orientalis). In the study area 14 habitats of the Directive 43/92 EEC have been found, covering 29.1% of the hydrographic basin. Among these some are priority habitats (5230, 9180, 9210, 9530), while other are not yet included into Natura 2000 network in Calabria (e.g. 92C0 Platanus orientalis and Liquidambar orientalis woods). In order to protect such a natural heritage from existing threats it has been proposed the ex-novo establishment, on a geobotanical basis, of the Site of Community Importance “Valle del Torrente Uria”, first unit of the futuristic Presila Natural Regional Park.

Full textThis thesis expands on the status of legal protection of landscape in the two Countries. The Constitutional level of landscape preservation is older and specific in Italy, in France it is most recent and environment based in general. In regards to the ordinary legislation, beyond the Alps, we find a large number of institutions of preservation, differing according to the asset or the considered territory. There are overabundant administrative/urban instruments, that often provide only a formal protection and create some doubts. However, the preservation is high for some assets or areas, such as those in charge of the “Architectes des Bâtiments” or for the coastal areas. It is important the role of the administrative judge. On the contrary, in Italy, the fundamental tools (constrains, urban planning and permission) work for assets and protected territories in a generalized way. The planning has been little and badly implemented, while the permission has been used by the Regions with ease. However, the absolute right to the landscape presents itself in both Countries. In the conclusion, in regard to France, we advance, amongst other things, a specific system of legal permissions, the reduction of urban/environment documents, the introduction of more binding regulations and a specific scheduling. In regard to Italy, we think it appropriate to create a landscape planning, or better, to unify the landscape planning to the local urban one, creating a coordination, missing for the time being. In addition, we advance that authorization will be on State exclusive jurisdiction. The regulations could rise to the higher rank of ”Landscape State Property”, to be considered not as property regimen but as binding statute of priceless value and eminent domain assets for several respects

Full textIn the 90s, the explosion of the web has brought distances in the physical world, while not moving away from the city. While in the past they were the port cities to take on the role of gateway cities, ie gates to the continent, are considered gateway all access places digitally. The sprawling city, vast territory urbanized by the invisible margins, where the alternation between rural and urban generates large distances between functional centers, needs to realize nodes of exchange and trade, intercepting the flows of people, capital, know-how that every day move inefficiently over a vast territory, generating, often, time and money wasted. It must switch them on the land and turn them into local resources, thus generating a huge amount of information that is potentially convertible into with answers app urban. The methods used so far to analyze the growth process of urban sprawl, urban development of most of the Italian cities, have highlighted the critical issues like the phenomenon of dispersion, the risk of not grasping the potential that, if properly designed with new technologies, can be transformed into strengths. Urban planning and same shape as the traditional plan, always has the task of regulating land use in relation to the local community, however, aware that the functions of certain soils interact with the increasingly extensive interests systems and physically distant, with the order to make dynamic and flexible to the needs and resources increasingly larger territories. The research, to meet the operational needs and planning related to the Marche region, is the current need to develop a strategic plan to program, thanks to the use of technology and digitization. The interdependence and complementarity of the different vocations of these extensive areas, which ignore the rigid administrative borders, need to develop a method capable of activating forms of coordinated action, based on networks of services and mobility through digital technologies such as to cope against waste in municipal budgets and respond efficiently to the ever more rapid transformation of social life through the sharing of information and the reduction of physical travel.
