Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
With the introduction of FRBR (Functional Requirements of a Bibliographic Record) in 1998, IFLA (the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutes) introduced a new conceptual entity relationship model. FRBR was soon followed by FRAD (Functional Requirements of Authority Data) and FRSAD (Functional Requirements of Subject Authority Data). With LRM (IFLA Library Reference Model) and two descriptive standards, the RDA Toolkit and BIBFRAME to follow, it helps catalogers to have a greater understanding of the entity relationship models they use for bibliographic description. The authors compare the models and descriptive standards. Differences among the entities, their definitions, and properties are examined and analyzed.

Abstract:
The author reviews the activity of the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) in the area of bibliography and bibliographic studies since the second half of 20th century. IFLA bibliography-oriented divisions with the account to the recent structural changes are named. The changes are approved at 2021 World Library and Information Congress. The key projects in blbliography and cataloguing are discussed: Universal Bibliographic Control (UBC), UNISIST (United Nations International Scientific Information System); National Information Systems; International Standard Bibliographic Description (ISBD). The current technological projects, e. g. FRBR, FRAD, FRSAD, FRBRoo, PRESSoo, IFLA LRM, are to regulate and standardize requirements to bibliographic records to support multiaspect information retrieval. The author argues that IFLA has transformed its bibliographic activities from large-scale global projects intended to embrace various types of documents and to unify bibliographic records toward narrower technological projects oriented toward disclosing data on format and contents of documents and efficient utilization of bibliographic information. The author emphaszes that IFLA is now focusing on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals agenda and 2030 Culture Coalition. The author based her article on the paper delivered at the Third World Bibliographic Congress (Novosibirsk, 27–29 April, 2021).

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to study the technological implementation of the emergent bibliographic models (IFLA LRM in particular) taking into account one of the most widespread platforms for the semantic web, namely Wikibase. Different initiatives of implementation of LRM have been taken into account, included: a) a prototype cataloging interface; b)the implementation of the new cataloging system for the Bibliothéque Nationale de France (Bnf); c) a test of use of one of the feature of the Wikibase data model - namely the "qualifier"- to find a sustainable solution for the LRM nomen entity. Wikibase and his data model cannot be considered the magical unicorn that solves all problems. More in-depth analysis and tests are needed, but – as an intermediate result – we can consider Wikibase a promising platform also in the bibliographic field with a low entry barrier.

Vecchio, Erica. "Evoluzione storica dei linguaggi di indicizzazione semantica." Doctoral thesis, 2020. http://hdl.handle.net/2158/1214548.

Full text
Abstract:

Abstract:
With the contributions of international experts, the book aims to explore the new boundaries of universal bibliographic control. Bibliographic control is radically changing because the bibliographic universe is radically changing: resources, agents, technologies, standards and practices. Among the main topics addressed: library cooperation networks; legal deposit; national bibliographies; new tools and standards (IFLA LRM, RDA, BIBFRAME); authority control and new alliances (Wikidata, Wikibase, Identifiers); new ways of indexing resources (artificial intelligence); institutional repositories; new book supply chain; “discoverability” in the IIIF digital ecosystem; role of thesauri and ontologies in the digital ecosystem; bibliographic control and search engines.

Abstract:
Rekomendācijas ir pirmais mēģinājums aprakstīt vajadzības jaunam datu modelim datu semantiskās sadarbspējas veicināšanai starp Latvijas kultūras mantojuma institūcijām digitālā vidē. Tajās raksturoti Latvijas atmiņas institūciju atšķirīgie datu modeļi un standarti, galvenās datu elementu klases un praksē izmantotās vērtību vārdnīcas. Rekomendācijās veikts starptautisko konceptuālo arhīvu, bibliotēku un muzeju datu modeļu (RiC CM, IFLA LRM, CIDOC CRM) būtisko entīšu salīdzinājums, kā arī analizēti sešu starpnozaru kultūras mantojuma platformu (SNAC, Finto, FINNA, Wikidata, EDM, Intermi) sadarbības datu modeļi, standarti un principi. Noslēgumā apkopoti secinājumi un rekomendācijas, kā, izmantojot atvērto saistīto datu risinājumus, no ierakstiem atsevišķu institūciju slēgtās sistēmās pāriet uz vienotu kultūras mantojuma entīšu reģistra izveidi, kam jākļūst par galveno Atsauču datu risinājuma komponenti.
