Abstract:
From the mid-nineteenth century to the early twentieth century British Idealism was a leading school of philosophical thought and the Scottish Idealists made important contributions to this philosophical school. In Scotland, there were two types of post-Hegelian idealism: Absolute Idealism and Personal Idealism. This article will show the ways in which these philosophical systems arose by focusing on their leading representatives: Edward Caird and Andrew Seth Pringle-Pattison.

AbstractDuring the early twentieth century, British novelist and philosopher May Sinclair published two book-length defenses of idealism. Although Sinclair is well known to literary scholars, she is little known to the history of philosophy. This paper provides the first substantial scholarship on Sinclair's philosophical views, focusing on her mature idealism. Although Sinclair is working within the larger British idealist tradition, her argument for Absolute idealism is unique, founded on Samuel Alexander's new realist beliefs about the reality of time. Her metaphysics takes idealism and pantheism in new directions and provides fresh insight into 1920s debates between British idealisms and realisms.

Abstract:
Abstract: The Communication aims a comparative analysis on the philosophical problem of the art as an expression of truth, considering the Platonic idealism and the modern esthetic idealism from Hegel. The starting point is the assumption that this analysis holds a paradoxical relationship between both idealistic proposals, Insofar as Plato affirms the art thesis as detachment from the truth, considering his character essentially mimetic, Hegel says that the art to establish itself as a moment of effective realization from the Spirit (Wirklichkeit) can only be understood from the paradigm of the idea, of Platonic inspiration. We emphasize the art understanding coming from the Platonic metaphysics theory and his idealistic conception of aisthesis, as well as the scientific character of aesthetics, according to Hegel, whose philosophical foundation claims the understanding of the idea, as absolute reason that self unfolds historically carries up within the limits of finitude sensitive. It is intended to show that the Hegelian overcoming supposed from Platonic idealist conception about the art can not prescind from foundation of Platonism - the universal idea, the infinity. Palabras clave: Romanticismo, Fichte, Spinoza, idealismo, realismo, naturalismo, auto-determinación Abstract Romantic Metaphysics is presented as an attempt to fuse Fichtean idealism and Spinozist realism. It is argued that the problem with this attempt is that it not always achieved to reconciliate the main tenents of both idealism and realism: that for the first the self is everything and that for the second it is the world which is everything. Abstract:
ABSTRACT – The existence of women can be actualized through the expression of idealism in the journalist profession. This study aims to describe the expression of idealism and the construction of the identity of millennial female journalists. The study was qualitatively conducted by interviewing ten women journalists using the snowball sampling technique and through analysis based on identity theory. The results indicated that the expression of millennial female journalists’ idealism was enacted via subtle news language, perspectives, or angles prioritizing women’s feelings, the capability to master media technology, and overall professionalism. Outwardly, millennial women journalists were shown to construct their identities by dressing in typical business dress, acting with confidence, and playing the role of a journalist. This media management system was revealed to shape the journalists’ self-constructions of their professional identities as the expression of idealism. AbstractChekhov depicted a number of idealists – individuals whose behavior and thought is based on ideals that for the most part prove to be impractical or unattainable in reality. These noble visionaries have a conception of things as they wish them to be. Many of Chekhov's idealists are doctors who, more often than not, suffer defeat on a personal rather than on a professional level. Dr. Astrov appears to suffer a defeat both on a personal level and in some respects on a professional level. The present study aims to provide an analysis of the nature of Dr. Astrov's idealism, his struggle with existential obstacles, and his personal and professional struggle against the complex forces that challenge his idealism and eventually turn him into a cynic.

Abstract:
The Case of Johannes Scottus Eriugena”. In this paper, I wish to argue (against Myles Burnyeat) that idealism is a genuine philosophical possibility prior to Descartes. Indeed, a version of idealism which implies a developed concept of subjectivity is actually to be found in a sophisticated version in the Periphyseon of Johannes Scottus Eriugena. Eriugena’s extreme intellectualist immaterialism differs from modern idealism in that it is motivated not so much by an epistemological consideration of skeptical arguments concerning the existence of the external world, but rather by theological consideration of the consequences of the doctrine of divine creation. Eriugena thinks of the world as an expression of the divine mind, and of all things in the world as contained in the divine mind. Furthermore, following the Neoplatonic tradition, he denies the existence of matter as a separate principle, and considers creatio ex nihilo to mean creatio ex deo.

Abstract:
International Relations (IR) textbooks often make reference to an idealist paradigm in interwar IR. This article argues that an idealist paradigm did not exist, and that interwar references to idealism or utopianism are contradictory and have little to do with defining a paradigm. Not only is there no idealist paradigm in IR at this time, but authors from the interwar period that have since been dismissed as idealists rarely share the attributes assigned to idealism or utopianism by later writers. If IR scholars are serious about understanding the history of their discipline then they will have to stop applying misleading and anachronistic terms like idealism.

Abstract:
AbstractSince the initial reception of the Critique of Pure Reason transcendental idealism has been perceived and criticized as a form of subjective idealism regarding space, time, and the objects within them, despite Kant's protestations to the contrary. In recent years, some commentators have attempted to counter this interpretation by presenting transcendental idealism as a primarily epistemological doctrine rather than a metaphysical one. Others have insisted on the metaphysical character of transcendental idealism. Within these debates, Kant's rejection of ontology (of the kind exemplified by Wolff and Baumgarten) has received comparatively little treatment, although it is often acknowledged. The present essay seeks to contribute to the secondary literature on Kant by offering an analysis of this claim and elaborating its consequences for transcendental idealism. This will take the form of a critical examination of transcendental idealism's supposed ontological agnosticism—that is, its disavowal of any ontological claims. The overall conclusion is that Kant's rejection of ontology is deeply problematic, and to such an extent that it may be necessary to reconsider the possibilities of defending transcendental idealism as a purely epistemological, non-ontological doctrine.

This thesis aims to investigate the overcoming of the kantian transcendental idealism held by the hegelian absolute idealism. The arguments in favor of hegelian overcoming the dualism between thing in itself and the phenomenon will be detailed and tested. As Kant points out that metaphysics as a science is impossible, ie the objects that denote the transcendental ideas are beyond space and time, since there are no corresponding object in the sensible world to her and therefore can not be known, because not affect the sensitivity, Hegel presents the reality as subject and denies any form of division between being and thinking.

Full text
Abstract:
The thesis examines Schopenhauer’s relation with the Post-Kantian thinkers and his critical reception of their philosophical systems, from his University years until the times of his mature work. The controversy against the Post-Kantian philosophy is closely related to Schopenhauer’s "zurück zu Kant" proposal which in its behalf lays the foundations for Schopenhauer’s own system – hence the importance of such controversy, which until now has been poorly known and even ill-known. After an introductory chapter about Schopenhauer’s initiation in academic philosophy and his first approach to Kant’s critical philosophy, the next three chapters are dedicated to his reception and polemic against the three big names of the so-called German Idealism, i.e. Fichte, Schelling, and Hegel. Chapter 5 deals with the "lesser" names of the Post-Kantian era, such as Reinhold, Schulze, Jacobi, Schleiermacher, Fries, and Herbart. Generally speaking, Schopenhauer’s legacy for this properly unwritten "Critique of the Post-Kantian philosophy" is extremely asystematic and dispersed: as a result, the polemic has been subject of poor researches and recurring misunderstandings in the tradition of the Schopenhauer-Studien. The thesis tries to push this state of the art to a new level, through a meticulous and detailed research, analysis, and comparison of the scattered materials, and finally through their systematization and critical presentation. As some important results of the thesis we could mention the determination of an ethical controversy in the background of the apparent main arguments (focused on ontology, methodology and such) in the discussion with Fichte and, especially, Schelling. Another main result is underlining the need to revise the image of Schopenhauer as an "anti-Hegelian" philosopher, paying closer attention to his arguments and to the facts we know about Schopenhauer’s peculiar way of studying Hegel’s works: this investigation shows the big amount of misunderstandings about Schopenhauer’s relation.

Abstract:
The thesis compares the philosophical consequences of Critique of Judgement to the poetic and philosophical productions of F.Höldelrin and S.T. Colerige. The main source of research are those aspects of Critique of Judgement relevant to understand the outbreak of idealism particularly where this new system deals significantly with art and aesthetic experience. Hölderlin stands in a genuine position beneath the tensions of idealism and kantian criticism, and his radical aproach to poetry allows to present him as a romantic poet or forerunner of romanticism. For S.T. Coleridge we study the immediate reception of kantian philosophy in british soil in order to highlight his role as a mediator of the german romantic ideology. The aim is to portrait Coleridge as a poet who assumed the main postulates of german idealism and to investigate how far those postulates can be connected to the final conclusions of kantian philosophy as formulated in Critique of Judgement.

Abstract:
The “spiritual” appears today as a hypothecated concept leading to a frequent underuse of the expression. To an extent, the equivocal derives from the systematics granted by the German Idealism metaphysics, in which the spiritual calls for human perfecting as its own content, and of which the axiological object is identified as the model of Reason as entelechy. Observing at the determining aspect of such model for later Philosophy, the conceptualization of the “spiritual” disavows part of its history, which undergoes through the development of cultural and religious traditions. The case of Kandinsky works here as a node to which philosophical implications of both, German Idealism and Russian religious Idealism, arrive, therefore the post-kantian aesthetical gets framed by the Christian religious influence over his personality. A phaenomenological-hermeneutical analysis of the case succeeds informing a concept of das Geistige that calls that notion of “spiritual” which is relative to the numinous.

Resumo: O tema central deste trabalho é a teoria do comunismo no jovem Marx.
Abstract: The central theme of this work is the communism theory in the young Marx. Its general plan is to expose, following the writings of his youth ranging from Rhenish Gazette to German Ideology, the path and the theoretical-conceptual arrangement through which Marx developed the theory of communism as a alternative sociability to the bourgeois social order. In this movement, it seeks to show how Marx's thought starts from the hegelian perspective of the Ethical state, it advances in debates on issues of political and human emancipation and of the unity of the universal political and of the particular social, until it reaches the concept of generic being, taken from Feuerbach, which still operates in Economic and Philosophic Manuscript, where the first thesis of the communism theory will be found, which will reach in German Ideology the foundations of historical materialism

This research aims to present a reading of the notion of intersubjectivity based on the Cartesian Meditations work of Edmund Husserl. For this, will be demonstrated, how, from of solipsism to the formation of a Intermonadologic universal community, Husserl offers a proposal for theoretical reasoning about knowledge of the alter ego, based on the status of phenomenology as transcendental idealism. At first moment, will be done an approach of the major concepts of phenomenology contained in the work, and that arise in the first meditations until the theoretical core of the question: the Fifth Meditation. In the intermediate section will be prioritized the description of the donation modes of the alter ego to ego through the constitutive dynamic. Finally, will be explained the formation of communities of higher grade as a result of the unity of monadic egos and response at the problem of intersubjectivity.

Abstract:
This study explores the differences and similarities between Oliveira Vianna and Raymundo Faoro. Their theses diverge because they are paradigmatic of two opposing lines of the Brazilian political and social thought - respectively, the organic idealism and the constitutional idealism. However, there are numerous points of intersection between the lines mentioned. We emphasize the points of intersection related to the fact that Vianna and Faoro were both engaged in the legal debate about the limits of the democratic state; which pervaded the history of Brazil throughout the 20th century. More precisely, we analyze the participation of Vianna in the period of the constituent assemblies, in the 1930s, and the activities of Faoro in the 1980s, as well as the fact that they both faced the same opponent, that is, the ruling elite. In the opinion of both authors, this elite imported foreign political institutions, and considered it possible to change the country based exclusively on laws then creating a legal country that mismatched with the real country.

Abstract:
The formation of ideals inspired by heroic facts in campestral battles, during the landmarks of borders and the affirmation of national identities, evidenced the presence of a literary production engaged with that image. The poetry, in particular, contributed to the consolidation of certain social and politics structures associated with the interests of the dominant classes in each country during that period of occupation of the territory. This work aims at pointing some elements in the regionalist poetry which contributed so that the authoritarianism and the violence became intrinsic elements to the cultural formation of gauchos and gaúchos as a constituted society and also as individuals who reproduce such ideals. The confrontation among literary productions through a comparatist and an interdisciplinary approach (associated with the Frankfurt School's Critical Theory) is an attempt to keep the discussion in a constant tension, in the search of questioning the validity of certain concepts built along the history.

The present thesis intends to analize the relationship between Hegelian System and philosophical Skepticism. It focuses Hegel?s interpreteation of Schulzean and Pyrronian Skepticism, as well as his attempt to refute both of them. The main Idea is that Agrippa?s Tropes assume a capital role in the process of justification of the Hegelian Science

Abstract:
Abstract: This paper seeks to demonstrate that Le Corbusier's autodidactic agenda between 1908 and 1911 reflects a consistent philosophical reasoning based on the philosophical tradition of German idealism. The vehicle of analysis is the connection between Édouard Schuré's 'Sanctuaires d'Orient', a book Le Corbusier read in 1908, and three key episodes of the subsequent period of travel. Schuré's book provides us with the philosophical framework to which he was exposed. The three episodes, in turn, are taken as case studies in order to demonstrate the correlation between the philosophical background of the book and Le Corbusier's changing attitudes during this period. The terms of this correlation are based on an evolutionary conception of history and can be synthesized as the belief in cultural progress, leading to a new society built upon the unity of science, religion and art, in a secular-sacred life attained through the recovery of a pantheistic existence, and in art and architecture as a means to an epistemological experience. I will lastly argue that this creates the basis for the lifelong influence of idealism in Le Corbusier's work and thought. Keywords: Le Corbusier's Education; Schuré; German Idealism; Romanticism. Abstract:
As part of WILS II (Wave Induced Loads on Ships) Joint Industry Project organised by MOERI (Maritime and Ocean Engineering Research Institute, Korea), Lloyd’s Register has undertaken time domain springing and whipping analyses for a 10,000 TEU class container ship using computational tools developed in the Co-operative Research Ships (CRS) JIP [1]. For idealising the ship and handling the flexible modes of the structure, a boundary element method and a finite element method are employed for coupling fluid and structure domain problems respectively. The hydrodynamic module takes into account nonlinear effects of Froude-Krylov and restoring forces. This Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI) model is also coupled with slamming loads to predict wave loads due to whipping effects. Vibration modes and natural frequencies of the ship hull girder are calculated by idealising the ship structure as a Timoshenko beam. The results from springing and whipping analyses are compared with the results from linear and nonlinear time domain calculations for the rigid body. The results from the computational analyses in regular waves have been correlated with those from model tests undertaken by MOERI. Further the global effects of springing and whipping acting on large container ships are summarised and discussed.

Abstract:
The purpose of the research is to outline the structure of the main methodological ideas within the frames of interpretive thinking in the essay of the famous Vistnyk’s writer, critic and essayist Yevhen Malaniuk. Considering the purpose and tasks of the studio, an interdisciplinary methodological base, related to the author’s “national approach”, has been worked out. The epistemological potential of national philosophy as a philosophy of national existence, national science as a theory of nation, hermeneutics as a theory and practice of interpretation and post-colonialism as interpretation of cultural phenomena from the standpoint of anti- and post-imperial consciousness are used in the work. The scientific novelty is that on the basis of the previous hermeneutic generalization and definition of national-existential methodology, a propaedeutic outlining of the structure of national-philosophical concepts within the frames of the essayistic interpretation of reality in Ye. Malaniuk is proposed. In the methodological sense, the writer’s essayism is structured by such concepts as nation-centrism, idealism, voluntarism, heroism, and can be considered as one of the variants (close by the experiences of D. Dontsov, Yu. Lypa, M. Mukhyn, etc.) of the Vistnyk’s national-philosophical (national-existential, nationalistic or nation-centric) hermeneutics, that is, the way of understanding, which the author by himself outlined as a “national approach”. The support of Ye. Malaniuk as a culture-philosopher and exegete on the eternal nation-centric values and criteria in his essayistic studies makes his reflections not only historically interesting, but also theoretically productive, classically important for the development of modern Ukrainian hermeneutics and humanities in general.
