Abstract:
AbstractThe history of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) meetings goes back to 1922 when the first IAU General Assembly (GA) was held in Rome, Italy, following the IAU creation in 1919. However, until 1953, no individual symposia were organized and the GAs were the only official gatherings for astronomers. All together, eight IAU GAs were held during 1922–1952. The IAU Symposium 1 was held in 1953 in Groningen, Netherlands. Starting with 1955, several IAU symposia were regularly held in different places, and since 1959, the IAU also began to organize colloquia to discuss relatively smaller topics. Twenty IAU colloquia numbered as I–XX were held in the period 1959–1971, and another series of IAU colloquia was organized in 1968–2005, numbered as Nos. 1–200. At present IAU symposia are the only official scientific meetings, nine of them being organized every year. IAU S349 “Under One Sky: the IAU Centenary Symposium”, held in Vienna during the IAU GA XXX, was the last one by number in 2018. Thus, the IAU has a 65-year history of symposia and all together 348 such meetings have been held, on average 5–6 annually. At present most of the IAU symposia during the years of GA are being organized in the framework of the GA, there being typically six symposia during each GA. All together, 31 IAU GA have been organized during the years 1922–2018, including 30 regular ones and one Extraordinary GA (1973 in Warsaw, Poland), typically once every three years. Since 1974, the IAU has also organized regional meetings in Europe, Asia and Pacific (APRIM), Latin America (LARIM), and the Middle East and Africa (MEARIM). The European ones were discontinued in 1990 after the creation of the European Astronomical Society (EAS) and the organization of the yearly JENAM/EWASS. The 348 IAU symposia have been organized in 43 countries. We give the statistics of all IAU symposia by year of organization, by various topics of astronomy and astrophysics, and by host countries and cities.

Abstract:
In the past, the IAU has adopted standard values for some constants, primarily for use with solar system ephemerides. The constants adopted in 1976 were specifically adjusted to provide internal consistency. In each case, when constants have been adopted, the changes have reflected accuracy improvements, and the purpose has been to encourage the accomplishment of better science.Over the past 12 years, the Working Group on Cartographic Coordinates has issued triennial reports giving the best values for the sizes and rotations for the planets and satellites. This working group now is an IAU/IAG/COSPAR working group reflecting the different organizations that have recognized the benefits of this group. This is an example of a properly functioning working group, which provides the best values on a regular basis. The IUGG also provides best estimates triennially for values of interest in geodesy and geodynamics.

Abstract:
This work aims to highlight the importance of teaching freehand drawing in the courses of Architecture and Urbanism, focusing on the observation drawing, which allows a close contact with objects and urban reality. In order to do so, we have retrieved concepts about the origins of architectural drawing and based on the perception phenomenology, we set up three instances of the drawing act from which the bibliographic review and reading of two case studies are performed: the visual, the sensory and the cognitive. In addition, studies of the subjects of drawing in the Architecture and Urbanism courses at the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism (University of São Paulo, Campus São Carlos, Brazil) and at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Oporto (Oporto, Portugal) pretend to understand teaching methodologies, but mainly, as each school explores drawing by hand, as a tool for design, communication, personal expression or graphic representation. The observation drawing is seen as the starting point of the pedagogic cycles, from which other proposals are derived for the mediation of an attentive look, a sensitive perception of the spaces and the city, of its registers by the drawing and interactions in the design processes

A distribui??o espacial e a an?lise multivariada ajustaram e avaliaram os dados.
The main issues associated with the research proposal is the city density impact on urban climate. Some of these problems have been minimized with the use of several urban scale strategies addressed for the specialized literature, as well as can be approached through prospective methods from previous local climatic data and microscale models. The microclimate study and urban thermal comfort requires understanding how these concepts relate with the city form. This research contributes to the discussion about urban thermal comfort with emphasis on the open spaces user, aiming to elaborate a numerical index in order to define the best relationship between environmental variables, urban morphology and urban thermal comfort in the city of Jo?o Pessoa/PB, located in hot and humid climate and low latitude. The values of the environmental variables were acquired through previous surveys with measurements in loco in open urban spaces. Morphological study was carried out by means of relevant urban indicators from a Geographic Information System (GIS) model. Data were treated through spatial distribution and multivariate analysis. Thermal comfort analysis in open spaces was performed by Physiological Equivalent Temperature (PET) with the ENVI-met? program. Artificial intelligence (RNA) was used to estimate the PET index values and the microclimatic variables at the urban level. Finally, a numerical index was elaborated through multivariate analysis, in particular principal component analysis (PCA). Index was applied in several points at Jo?o Pessoa/PB city, as well as in future scenarios constructed from the data acquisition by the microclimatic variables prediction. Results demonstrate which the urban points didn?t allow comfort sensation during the studied period. Index shows a distance of an adequate relationship between morphological and environmental variables allowing thermal discomfort to user when it is applied in this areas. The application this research helps the decision of choicing the best relationship between urban prescriptions and thermal comfort of outdoor users.

Abstract:

Nurses are subjected to occupational stress factors that can result in the syndrome of burnout. This study compared levels of burnout in nurses in a medical-surgical ICU setting to those in non-ICU medical-surgical settings. A randomized sample of 40 nurses of an urban hospital in Taiwan, twenty nurses in an ICU and 20 in five non-ICU settings (general medical-surgical wards), who returned the questionnaire used to measure burnout, were included in the study. The instrument utilized was the Staff Burnout Scale for Health Professionals. The study found no significant difference in levels of burnout in the two groups. Both groups in this study experienced a higher level of burnout than was reported in other studies in United States literature. In particular, two general medical-surgical wards which had high patient/nurse ratios, had very high levels of burnout. The study also found that all nurses with lower educational levels and ICU nurses with more years of work experience had more burnout.

The dissertation is devoted to the development of criminological characteristics of crimes in the field of gambling, which should become the basis for the further construction of effective system of measures to combat this category of crimes. During the study of the concept of crime in the field of gambling, two approaches as to its definition have been identified – in the broad and narrow senses. The first includes all crimes related to the phenomenon of gambling business: economic crimes, corrupt crimes, crimes against property, crimes against morality, etc. On this side, basing the general concept of crime, the crime in the field of gambling is proposed to be considered as the social phenomenon that derives from the activity of a part of society and is manifested in the system of criminal acts 8 committed in the gambling business.

Abstract:
AbstractWe all know that evaluation is a sophisticated science. However, when we talk about celebrating 70 years of the International Association of Universities (IAU), the word “sophisticated” gets an even deeper meaning. How do we evaluate the activity of a global organization, founded in 1950 by UNESCO, whose mission it is to be the voice of universities worldwide and the main defender of the two fundamental academic values: (i) academic freedom and (ii) university autonomy? Naturally, an anniversary is always an occasion to look back, just as it is natural to look ahead.

Abstract:
AbstractOn 9 December 2020, the International Association of Universities (IAU) celebrated the 70th anniversary of the historic signing of the IAU Constitution. The IAU was called into life when UNESCO and its Member States brought together universities of the world to jointly draft the founding text, signed on 9 December 1950, in Conference, in Nice, France. By doing so, they officialised the creation of an Association with a unique global mandate. The text of the Constitution opens with the following words, which still mark the work of IAU.

Abstract:
Abstract In the offshore oil and gas industry the pipeline integrity during the whole life cycle is an aspect of paramount importance. During Installation phase pipeline structural integrity can be compromised by fabrications defects and by the action of external forces in case of accidental events, that could generate pipe instability and, in the worst-case scenario, thepipe collapse. Current offshore regulations provide the requirements to be respected during pipelaying operations in terms of Buckle Detection to meet the pipeline Piggability requirements. The debate on the use of a Mechanical Buckle Detector (MDB), i.e., a gauge plate trolley pulled through the pipeline by a wire connected to the vessel and placed at a certain distance behind the touchdown point, is still open. Indeed, Buckle Detection by deploying the MBD may introducesome operational risks, i.e., the cable break, the stacking during motion and the damage of the internal coating. This may lead toadditional vessel time, extra launch/recovery operations and false readings/bias. With the main target to overcome the above issues, Saipem has developed a tool based on acoustic technique to detect deformations of the internal sections of pipes during installation operations: the Integrated Acoustic Unit, IAU (Patented Technology, see Ref. [1]). The tool works by means of a non-intrusive technique andcan provide the continuous characterization of the whole pipe span up to the touchdown point in a single shot. This paper gives an overview of recent developments of Saipem Integrated Acoustic Unit. It describes the working principle and the available IAU Functions, the pipe defects characterization campaign through modelling (FEA) and laboratory tests, the system validation activity through the experimental campaign, the third-party qualification and the new Saipem Procedure for Technology Qualification that was at the basis of the process.
