Abstract:
The effects of carteolol 2% and a fixed combination of carteolol 2% and pilocarpine 2% (CBS 341 A) eye-drops on intraocular pressure (I.O.P.) were compared in a multicenter double-blind, cross-over prospective trial. Twenty-eight patients were initially selected after at least three weeks of carteolol 2%, with a morning I.O.P. greater than 21-mmHg. They received 2 drops a day (b.i.d.), in a random order, alternating two weeks of carteolol 2% alone or two weeks of CBS 341 A. After each two-week period a 12-h I.O.P. curve was plotted. Compared to carteolol the combination reduced I.O.P. on average by around 20% (4 mmHg), with maximum effect 4h after instillation. The effectiveness was confirmed after twelve hours. Some side effects were reported with CBS 341 A, due to the well known pharmacological effects of pilocarpine. The new combination could be useful for second-line therapy in glaucoma.

Nzalakanda, Rufin. Electronic Thesis or Diss., Paris, HESAM, 2021. https://tel.archives-ouvertes.fr/tel-04164360.

Full text
Abstract:
Since the 1950s, the pharmaceutical industry is still affected by the scandals of health scandals (thalidomide 1961, 1962 and 1963), Distilbène (1977), Vioxx (2004), Mediator (2009), breast prostheses PIP (2010), ...These are generally health products that have a harmful effect that is not detected earlier in the collective management of these products throughout the health product development chain. These harmful effects have generated disastrous consequences in France and abroad ( some organizations say that these are cases of pain that have caused illness, cancer or death), but also in economic and financial terms (national health costs), image and trust. This is the diagnosis made about the functioning of the pharmaceutical industry. This diagnosis reveals the existence of a dilemma that this sector must undoubtedly resolve. Various situations are often mentioned to refer to this dilemma. Some situations refer to the negligence and imprudence of institutions and organizations for the control and supervision of health products, others are oriented towards the fault and error of the actors involved in the collective management of these products, and others are about fraud perpetrated by actors mandated to develop health products that help the population to eliminate the different diseases. This thesis focuses on situations of fraud committed by big pharma as a research subject. She positions him in the field of white-collar crime, a term invented by American sociologist Edwin. Sutheland in the 1930s). The analysis of this research subject poses a practical question: How big pharma performs to normalize fraud in the health product development chain that includes national, transnational and global levels. It is important to note that this thesis does not aim to stigmatize big pharma, which are essential actors because they contribute to the disappearance of diseases by providing health products to society. Rather, it focuses on a phenomenon that has been clearly identified and that represents a threat to the planet, which has already affected health systems several times, thousands of people in the world and caused considerable human and financial losses. Thus, it relies on the experience of institutional, organizational and individual actors in the health sector, in terms of health scandals marked by pharmaceutical fraud, to answer research questions. The research results show that, big pharma is instrumentalising P.O.I, a structured and structuring organisation, to perform the actors who are involved in the collective management of health products in such a way that their practices and discourse are consistent with what she thinks, says and does. It is through this mechanism that pharmaceutical fraud is normalized at the national, transnational and global levels. More specifically, the P.O.I is a network organisation composed of human and non-human actors.Hidden within the big pharma, it materializes the ability of this enterprise to produce a generalized effect in the process that describes the different phases of realization of a health product, which will encourage the actors involved to legitimize the fraud in order to serve the interests of the entreprise in which it is housed

Abstract:
This study explores discussion forums within two autistic community websites in an attempt to gain intimate insights into the educational experiences and cultural identification of high functioning autistics (HFAs). Throughout this thesis I have referred to people with Autism as 'autistics' or HFAs in recognition of their self-referencing on the websites and to strike consistency with their identity politics. (ex: Autistic Pride Parade). The study maintains a narrative component from the perspective of a teacher-researcher as a means of facilitating the development of a grounded theory for educating high functioning autistics. The study begins with an examination of contemporary controversies within the field of autistic studies, with a particular focus on issues surrounding the classification of Asperger's Syndrome under the deficit model of mental disorders. Several tables are then presented from data collected from Aspiesforfreedom.com and Wrongplanet.net. The tables present high functioning autistic opinions, thoughts and experiences related to emerging autistic advocacy efforts, as well as retrospectives of their social and academic experiences over the course of their schooling. An Internet Culture Theory (ICT) develops which honors the existence of an authentic community of autistics online. ICT explores how this acknowledgment can help shape educational policies and practices related to improving the self-esteem, identity formation, academic success and social experiences of HFAs in both our schools and communities. The study contends that modifications should be implemented prior to grade 7 due to reports of emotional deterioration during this particular year of development. Existing programs operating in the spirit of ICT are discussed in order to provide some concrete examples of what certain modifications might look like.

Abstract:
The hydrogeochemistry of the southern Lincolnshire Limestone is investigated employing inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) as the primary analytical technique. Two simultaneous, multi-element instruments were used. The principles of the technique and comparisons of the hardware, operating conditions and routine sample preparation methods are outlined and realistic levels of precision and detection limits evaluated. The range of determinations in the groundwaters was extended by the development of novel sample treatment techniques including the determination of dissolved sulphide down to the 1 level using a gas-liquid separator, and the determination of rare earth elements in groundwater evaporation residues. The methods were applied to the analysis of groundwaters and rocks of the Lincolnshire Limestone in southern Lincolnshire. The geology, hydrogeology and hydrochemistry of the aquifer are reviewed and the sample collection methods described, stressing the precautions taken to avoid contamination. The Lincolnshire Limestone is an aquifer of considerable heterogeneity, argillaceous limestones are intercalated with pure oolites and it is confined by predominantly clastic formations. The major element chemistry of the groundwaters follow a down-dip trend between calcium-bicarbonate-sulphate waters near outcrop and saline, non-potable waters in the east. The groundwaters are sub-divided into zones based on the processes of calcite dissolution, ion exchange and the mixing of recharge and saline interstitial waters. Minor and trace element behaviour is controlled by a combination of oxidation-reduction reactions, adsorption on clay minerals and organic matter, mineral solubilities, complex formation andgroundwater pH. Ultimately the low levels of most trace metals are limited by their low abundance in the limestone. Temporal hydrochemical trends are identified, and the influence of man, with reference to the down-gradient migration of agrichemical pollutants (e.g. nitrates) is assessed. Fluctuations in the movement of the potable/saline water interface are noted and theories on the origin of the saline waters reviewed.

Abstract:
The present investigation was born with the purpose of analyzing the causes that originate the high rate of rotation in the teaching population of the Private Educational Institution José Carlos Mariátegui and generate a motivational action proposal to counteract it. In this regard, it should be noted that the turnover rate of teaching staff had a significant increase between 2014 and 2016, from 14% to 22%, affecting the profitability estimated by the management of the institution for those years. The methodology used for the collection of information was through open interviews in order to obtain the largest amount of relevant information that allows knowing, at the most detail, what the teaching staff thinks and feels in relation to the culture and administrative management of the campus. Finally, we conclude that if we want to reduce the turnover rate of the Private Educational Institution José Carlos Mariátegui, we have to generate a plan that identifies the needs of its administrative and administrative staff and the tasks in which the intrinsic part of the staff can be accessed (self-realization and recognition). The extrinsic part (salaries), generating in them the sensation of unity, commitment and recognition.

Abstract:

Abstract:
To focus the analysis on national harbor problem, we havelloked into the case of eight commercial ports belonging to the national ports institute (i. N. P. ), in order to outline the role they fulfill in the international economic context, emphasize their incidency on regional development and expose the broad outlines of venezuelan harbor institutional reform at the beginning of the years 90. At the sight of an archaic physical infrastructure, unskilled and over-crowded force labour, but under hight syndical protection a not very advanced " containerizacion " movement, a deficient administrative organism unable to reach its self financing, various options are considered, such as : 1) participation of private sector 2) suppression of national ports institute, 3) harbor administration on regional level. New commercial policy based on a program of exportation's promotion & customs reform will come withs these measures

Abstract:
This chapter describes the construction, tenanting and management of an experimental scheme for slum-dwellers, utilising a largely unnoticed clause of the 1919 Housing Act. It shows how the scheme was built on residual land and contained small, if new, houses. There was acute conflict about the small size of these new council houses within the Corporation, with the socialist I.L.P. arguing that no more small houses, with consequent overcrowding, should be built for workers. Although the scheme was managed in an authoritarian manner, it was massively popular with its tenants who created a thriving, left-wing, community with it.
