Abstract:
Baroreceptors play a pivotal role in the regulation of blood pressure through moment to moment sensing of arterial blood pressure and providing information to the central nervous system to make autonomic adjustments to maintain appropriate tissue perfusion. A recent publication by Zeng and colleagues (Zeng WZ, Marshall KL, Min S, Daou I, Chapleau MW, Abboud FM, Liberles SD, Science 362: 464–467, 2018) suggests the mechanosensitive ion channels Piezo1 and Piezo2 represent the cellular mechanism by which baroreceptor nerve endings sense changes in arterial blood pressure. However, before Piezo1 and Piezo2 are accepted as the sensor of baroreceptors, the question must be asked of what criteria are necessary to establish this and how well the report of Zeng and colleagues (Zeng WZ, Marshall KL, Min S, Daou I, Chapleau MW, Abboud FM, Liberles SD, Science 362: 464–467, 2018) satisfies these criteria. We briefly review baroreceptor function, outline criteria that a putative neuronal sensor of blood pressure must satisfy, and discuss whether the recent findings of Zeng and colleagues suitably meet these criteria. Despite the provocative hypothesis, there are significant concerns regarding the evidence supporting a role of Piezo1/Piezo2 in arterial baroreceptor function.

Abstract:

Det har visat sig att inom specialpedagogiken finns det många motstridigheter. Åsikterna går isär om vilka lösningar som är bäst för elever i behov av särskilt stöd. Mitt syfte med uppsatsen är att genom en kvalitativ fallstudieinspirerad undersökning få insikt i hur man på en skola har valt att ge stöd till elever som är i behov av särskilt stöd. För att få en uppfattning om skolans alternativa undervisningsform har jag intervjuat berörda parter och dessutom gjort en observation. Den alternativa undervisningsformen är en liten undervisningsgrupp som har visat sig vara allt vanligare i grundskolan idag. De barn som blir aktuella har svårt att fungera i stor grupp. Resultatet i min undersökning visar att den alternativa undervisningsformen har stora möjligheter för just de här barnen men det går inte att generalisera och säga att verksamheten är bra för alla elever. Valet av metoder måste väljas utifrån varje elevs behov.

Abstract:

The drama of Kristina Lugn’s Kvinnorna vid Svansjön (The women by the Swan Lake) takes place in the dialogue and language; the same ambiguous language that is found in Lugn’s poetry. In this essay I examine how meaning and dramatic tension is created in the dialogue of Kvinnorna vid Svansjön.

I describe the play, using concepts from various drama theories. However, the most important concepts of classical drama theory such as "story" and "plot" are not really applicable. This is because of the contradictory information given in the dialogue. For the same reason, the dramatic ”space” is very hard to define. I found other concepts, ”theme/motif” and ”symbol”, more rewarding. These elements carry the spheres of interest and constitute the metaphors that create unity in the play. The main themes/motifs in this drama are ”love” and ”death”, which are closely connected to the main symbol, ”water”.

According to theatre theorist Erika Fischer-Lichte, dramatic dialogue contains a tension between ”writing” and ”orality”. This tension is my starting point when examining the dialogue of Kvinnorna vid Svansjön, which constantly alternates between monologue (writing) and face-to-face dialogue (orality). The tension between writing and orality is also present linguistically in the play; writing is represented by lyrical, metaphorical language and orality by everyday spoken language. I find that communication often occurs through associative and thematic language use. There are many connections between the metaphors/themes on the linguistic level and the motifs/themes on the dramatic level. Lugn’s thematic dialogue gives new life to worn-out metaphors.

I connect the tension in dialogue and language to the play’s floating spatial dimension, in which I make out two levels: ”reality” and ”fantasy”. These levels are as deceptive as the language of the play and help to create uncertainty and suspense about the dramatic reality.

Sammandrag

Många undersökningar har visat att det inte råder likvärdig bedömning av elevtexter i Sverige. Endast genom att fortsätta belysa ett sådant problem och betona vikten av likvärdig bedömning kan vi nå en förändring mot det bättre. Syftet med detta arbete är att studera hur ett urval lärare och lärarstuderande betygsätter samma elevtexter, för att iaktta eventuella skillnader i bedömningen, diskutera dessa bedömningar samt försöka sätta dem i relation till

den nya lärarutbildningen och dess innehåll av kurser. Bedömningarna av elevtexterna varierade starkt trots att informanterna motiverade sina betyg utifrån samma kursplan. Kursplanen ger alltså utrymme för subjektiva bedömningar, och det gör att vi inte kan nå nationell likvärdighet i betygsättningen.

Bakgrund: Från internationell forskning framkommer att det finns kunskap om hur sjuksköterskor som arbetar på vårdavdelningar inom akutvården upplever omvårdnaden av patienter i livets slutskede. Dock finns sparsamt med forskning inom detta område i en svensk kontext. Syfte: Studiens syfte var att belysa hur sjuksköterskor som arbetar på vårdavdelningar inom akutvården upplever omvårdnaden av patienter i livets slutskede. Metod: Studien har en empirisk design med kvalitativ ansats. Samtalsintervjuer med fyra legitimerade sjuksköterskor genomfördes och analyserades med hjälp av modifierad innehållsanalys, editing analysis style, enligt Malterud (2009). Resultat: Ur analysen utkristalliserades tre kategorier vilka beskriver hur sjuksköterskan, inom den akuta kontexten, upplever omvårdnaden av patienter i livets slutskede: Godtycklig anpassning, Den obarmhärtiga omvårdnadsverkligheten och Den goda omvårdnaden – En önskedröm? Slutsats: Analysens resultat vittnar om att sjuksköterskans beslutsautonomi är hotad i omvårdnaden av patienter i livets slutskede inom den akuta kontexten, att sjuksköterskan har svårt att leva upp till kraven i omvårdnaden som dessa patienter har rätt till samt att sjuksköterskan saknar närhet till patienten. Detta innebär att hon inte alltid kan göra gott och därmed riskerar att skada patienten, vilket leder till att rättvisa i omvårdnaden inte alltid kan skipas i en kontext som delas av den kurativa och den palliativa patienten. I en ytterligare tolkning menas att den palliativa patientens människovärde kränks. Klinisk betydelse: En konsekvens av studien är att rekommendera vårdavdelningar inom akutvården att vidta åtgärder som förbättrar sjuksköterskans möjligheter att utföra en tillfredställande omvårdnad av patienter som avslutar livet inom denna vårdkontext.
Background: International research indicates that there is knowledge of nurses’ perceptions of palliative nursing care in wards in acute care settings. However, there is little research in this field in a Swedish context. Aim: The aim of this study was to elucidate nurses’ perceptions of palliative nursing care in wards in acute care settings. Method: The study has an empirical design with a qualitative approach. Interviews with four registered nurses were analyzed using the modified content analysis, editing analysis style, by Malterud (2009). Results: From the analysis three categories emerged which describe how the nurse, within the emergency context, experience the caring of patients near end of life: Arbitrary adaption, The unmerciful nursing reality and The good care – A utopia? Conclusion: The result of the analysis showed that the nurse decision-making autonomy is threatened in the care of patient in palliative care in the acute context, that the nurse finds it difficult to live up to the demands of the care that these patients are entitled to and that the nurse lacks closeness to the patient. This means that the nurse cannot always do good and risks to harm the patient, which leads to that justice cannot always be guaranteed in a context that is shared by the curative and the palliative patient. In a further interpretation the dignity of the palliative patient is violated. Clinical significance: A consequence with the study is to recommend wards in acute care settings to take actions to improve nurses’ ability to perform an adequate nursing care of patients who end life within this context.

Abstract:

Den här uppsatsen har som syfte att undersöka vad elever och lärare på en gymnasieskola har för åsikter i frågor som rör ordning, fostran och disciplinering i dagens skola. Den övergripande frågan som uppsatsen har försökt att besvara är: Vad har elever och lärare för åsikter i frågor som rör ordning, fostran och disciplinering i skolan?

Den empiriska undersökningen har gjorts i form av en enkätundersökning som har besvarats av 54 elever och 7 lärare. När resultatet av enkätundersökningen har diskuterats har det skett utifrån Michel Foucaults teorier om makt och disciplinering samt utifrån forskning kring läroplaner och skolans värdegrund kopplat till ordning, fostran och disciplinering.

Resultatet av undersökningen visar att elevernas och lärarnas åsikter om ordning, fostran och disciplinering i skolan i huvudsak överensstämmer med varandra. Båda grupperna anser att skolan ska ha ett fostrande uppdrag, att fostran ska ske med stöd av gemensamma regler och, vid behov, påföljder om dessa inte följs. Lärarens betydelse betonas vad det gäller att engagera och motivera men också som övervakare av att reglerna följs. Dock anser eleverna i större utsträckningen än lärarna att betyg kan inverka positivt på ordningen i skolan – särskilt betyg i ordning och uppförande.

Läraren, regler och påföljder är följaktligen viktiga för ordningen i skolan och för skolans fostrande uppdrag.

A dengue é um dos principais problemas de saúde publica do mundo, especialmente nas regiões tropicais e subtropicais. Apesar da magnitude do problema, ainda existem limitações relacionadas ao diagnóstico, devido à presença de resultados falsos negativos, muitas vezes apresentados nos laudos laboratoriais. Estudos com a proteína do envelope são extremamente importantes para o desenvolvimento de novas vacinas e testes de diagnóstico. Os métodos sorológicos são importantes para o diagnóstico das infecções por dengue, entre eles, o imunoensaio enzimático para detecção de IgM contra o vírus da dengue. Neste estudo, 82 amostras de soro de pacientes com suspeita de dengue foram classificadas como positivas ou negativas utilizando o kit comercial Panbio ELISA de Captura Dengue IgM. O desempenho do ensaio do kit comercial foi comparado com os novos ensaios ELISA indireto usando três peptídeos sintéticos derivados da proteína E como substrato. De um total de 82 amostras de soro, (52,4%) foram positivas pelo kit comercial Panbio Dengue IgM ELISA de Captura, 18 (21,9%) apresentaram reatividade contra Pep1, 40 (48,7%) contra o Pep2 e 66 (80,4%) contra Pep3. Entre as amostras de soro classificadas como positivas pelo kit comercial (42), 11 (26%), também foram classificadas como positivas usando o peptídeo Pep1. Vinte e duas (52,3%), utilizando o Pep2 e 40 (95,23%) utilizando Pep3. Entre as amostras classificadas como negativas por meio do kit comercial (40), 28 (70%) foram classificadas como negativas usando como substrato o Pep1, vinte 20 (50%) utilizando como substrato o Pep2 e 13 (32,5%), utilizando como substrato Pep3. Os resultados demonstram que os peptídeos sintéticos podem ter potencial biotecnológico para o desenvolvimento de novas vacinas, tratamentos e testes de diagnósticos.
Dengue is a major public health problem worldwide, especially in the tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Despite the magnitude of the problem, there are still limitations related to the diagnosis, due to the presence of false negative results often presented in the laboratory reports. Studies using the envelope protein are extremely important for the development of new vaccines and new diagnostic tests. Serological methods are important for the diagnosis of dengue infections, and among them, the enzyme linked immunoassay that detects IgM against Dengue virus is very employed. In this study, a panel of 82 serum samples from dengue suspected patients was classified as positive and negative using the commercial ELISA kit Panbio Capture Dengue IgM. Assay performance of the commercial kit was compared with the new indirect ELISA assays using synthetic peptides derived from E protein (Pep1, Pep2 and Pep3) as substrate. Of a total of 82 serum samples, (52.4%) were positive by the commercial ELISA kit Panbio Capture Dengue IgM, 18 (21,95%) showed reactivity against Pep1; 40 (48,78%) against Pep2 and 66 (80,48%) against Pep3. Among the serum samples classified as positive by the commercial kit (42), 11 (26%) are also classified by positive using Pep1 as substrate, 22 (52,3%) using Pep2 as substrate and 40 (95,23%) using Pep3 as substrate. Among the samples classified as negative by the commercial kit (40), 28 (70%) were also classified as negative using Pep1 as substrate, 20 (50%) using Pep2 as substrate and 13 (32.5%) using Pep3 as substrate. The results showed that the synthetic peptides can have biotechnological potential for the development of new vaccines and treatments and diagnostic tests.

Abstract In Pythian 5, Pindar adapts Cyrene’s colonial tradition to fit the conventions of epinician poetry; in drawing close parallels between the civic roles of founder and victor, he suggests that each brings significant power and fame to his city. In Olympian 1 as well, Pindar paints an elaborate triptych of colonial tales in praise of Diagoras of Rhodes’ victory in the boxing competition at Olympia in 464 B.C.E. We have already examined one panel of this aetiological tableau-the marriage of Helius and Rhodes-within the larger context of marriage and rape imagery in city foundation legends. Now in this chapter, I will focus on another chapter in Rhodes’ early history-its colonization by Tlepolemus of Argos. Pindar uses the colonial tradition of Rhodes to celebrate his client’s athletic success both in terms that will be familiar to us from our discussion of Pythian 5 and in new ways as well. In addition to praising the victor in light of the city founder, Pindar exploits the murderer founder analogy that we discussed in Chapter 2 (for Tlepolemus, the founding hero of Rhodes, is also a murderer) and extends it to include athletic victory as well. Bacchylides, too, describes Panhellenic competition and city foundations as parallel acts of purification, and for this reason, a reading of Bacchylides Ode 11 in conjunction with a discussion of Olympian 1 will explore how the purification-colonization metaphor operates within the context of epinician poetry.

Abstract I. For many philosophers, particularly among those who have found their inspiration in Wittgenstein’s later work, appeals to the distinction between what does and does not make sense seem to be an important part of philosophical method. Wittgenstein himself said that his aim was to teach his readers to pass from disguised nonsense to patent non sense (Philosophical Investigations, §464), and he gave numerous examples of the use of this method. I shall try to argue, however, that it is not clear precisely how invocations of nonsense in philosophy are to be understood. My aim in this essay is to try to clarify the role or status of such invocations. I shall do so through a discussion of the reading of Wittgenstein’s view of nonsense put forward by Cora Diamond.

Introdução: O tratamento da tuberculose (TB) com esquema básico tem duração mínima de 180 dias e se divide em duas fases. Fatores como a composição medicamentosa em cada fase, regularidade das tomadas e ajuste de comprimidos para o peso são determinantes para evitar a persistência bacteriana e a resistência aos fármacos e assegurar a cura do caso. Para assegurar o desfecho favorável, o Tratamento Diretamente Observado (TDO) é estratégia fundamental, pois permite o desenvolvimento de atividades programáticas pela equipe multidisciplinar no acompanhamento da pessoa com TB de forma sistemática. Objetivo: descrever a adesão ao esquema básico de casos novos de TB residentes em Governador Valadares, com período de avaliação 2017-2021. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, quantitativo e baseado na análise de indicadores epidemiológicos e operacionais relacionados à adesão do tratamento de pessoas com TB (proporção de cura e abandono nas coortes e realização de TDO), utilizando dados levantados em 4 de abril de 2022 no Tabnet - Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação, de domínio público no sítio eletrônico da Secretaria de Estado da Saúde de Minas Gerais. A análise foi categorizada: pulmonares confirmados laboratorialmente, pulmonares e total de casos novos. Resultados: No período estudado, 464 casos novos de TB foram registrados em Governador Valadares de 2017 a 2021. Em relação ao total de casos, a proporção de casos novos que realizaram TDO diminuiu (2017-82,1%; 2020-16%; 2021-45%). A repercussão consequente foi redução da proporção de curados (2017-79,5%; 2021-62,3%) e aumento do abandono (2017-6,8%, 2020-16,4%, 2021-14,2%). Os casos pulmonares e pulmonares positivos seguem o mesmo padrão. Conclusão: Em todos os anos estudados, os achados foram inferiores aos parâmetros mínimos preconizados pelo Ministério da Saúde (85% e 5%, respectivamente, para proporção de cura e abandono); somente em 2017, foi alcançado 84,2% de cura entre pulmonares confirmados. 2020 foi o ano com desempenho mais baixo, provavelmente pelas repercussões da pandemia por covid -19. Medidas como manejo de casos com base na estratificação de risco, cuidado multiprofissional e intersetorial em vulnerabilidades estabelecidas, educação permanente, educação em saúde e estímulo ao autocuidado apoiado podem ser úteis para alcance dos desfechos esperados.

Abstract:
The unexpected transition from in-person to online teaching in the spring of 2020 took university language instructors off guard. The objective of my research is to show that adapting to the new-normal (i.e. unplanned shift to online teaching) had a ripple effect on teaching methods, learning goals, student motivation. The setting of the research is a Business English course at a university in Budapest (Hungary). The autoetnographic research I carried out provides personal reflections both on the objective elements of the course: needs, learning objectives, teaching material and methods and evaluation, and on the affective elements: student motivation and emotions. The findings show that adverse circumstances can force teachers and students not only to set more realistic learning goals, focusing on the most relevant and important materials, but by keeping standards high, to find a new form of motivation.

Havsfiskelaboratoriets trålexpeditioner i Västerhavet (Skagerrak och Kattegatt) genomförs två gånger årligen, i kvartal 1 och 3. Fisket utförs med den franska bottentrålen GOV. Under expeditionen gjordes totalt 46 giltiga tråldrag i hela området, 22 i Skagerrak och 19 i Kattegatt samt fem i östliga Nordsjön. Fångsten utgjordes av 18,1 ton sill, 6 ton skarpsill, 5 ton kolja och 275 kg torsk, inalles 57 fiskarter med en totalfångst av 35,6 ton. Biologiska parametrar på individnivå samlas in på sill- och torskfiskar samt några plattfiskar. Totalt provtogs 3 343 individer från 11 olika målarter med avseende på ålder och könsmognad. Torsk-index i både Skagerrak och Kattegatt har minskat kraftigt. Ettårig kolja uppvisar en relativt god förekomst i Skagerrak till följd av förra årets starka rekrytering men årets rekrytering är svag. Sillen visar en stor 1-grupp i både Skagerrak och Kattegatt.

IBTS trålexpedition i Västerhavet genomförs två gånger årligen, i kvartal 1 och 3 och täcker Skagerrak, Kattegatt och delar av östra Nordsjön. Den franska bottentrålen GOV används för fisket dagtid. Under kvartal 1 används också en mindre finmaskig trål nattetid för provtagning av primärt sill-larver. Under expeditionen genomfördes totalt 46 godkända tråldrag med GOV-trålen, 5 i Nordsjön, 22 i Skagerrak och 19 i Kattegatt. Den totala fångsten uppgick till drygt 14,9 ton (nästan 45 % utgjordes av sillfiskar) och inkluderade 69 fiskarter. Den biologiska provtagningen som också innefattar insamling av otoliter för åldersbestämning, gjordes på de kommersiellt betydelsefulla arterna. Totalt togs 5479 otoliter från 11 olika arter. Preliminära abundansindex på 1-gruppen hos målarterna beräknades. Larvtrålningen resulterade i 47 godkända tråldrag, 67 sillarver, 493 sardinlarver, 5 glasålar men inga skarpsillslarver.

Previous research has identified several likely causes of eligible non-participation in the Canada Learning Bond (CLB), including awareness, financial exclusion, and administrative barriers. This study expands on that research, with a particular focus on the role of tax-filing as an administrative obstacle to accessing the CLB. I present results from an online survey of low and modest income parents (n=466) conducted in 2021. We find that, even among parents reporting they have received the CLB (46%), a majority (51%) report low confidence in their familiarity with the program, and more than one in six (17%) are unaware of the need to file tax returns to maintain eligibility for annual CLB payments. Self-reported regular tax-filing is associated with a 59% increase in the probability of accessing the CLB, even when controlling for a range of parental characteristics. This study confirms previous work by Harding and colleagues (2019) that non-filing may explain some share of eligible non-participation in education savings incentives. Tax-filing services may be an important pathway to improve CLB access. Low and modest income parents show substantial diversity in their preferred filing methods and outreach efforts cannot be concentrated in only one avenue if they are to be successful. The study also tests a small ‘nudge’ to address gaps in awareness and finds that information-only approaches to outreach are likely to have limited success, even with motivated populations.

Viltolyckorna på järnväg har ökat stadigt de senaste åren – inte bara i Sverige och Norge utan även internationellt. För att minska de ekologiska och socioekonomiska effekterna behövs bättre åtgärder och nya åtgärdsstrategier. Stängsel och faunapassager har vanligtvis god effekt men är dyra lösningar som kan motiveras endast längs särskilt olycksdrabbade sträckor. De behöver därför kompletteras med åtgärder som ger skydd längs huvuddelen av järnvägsnätet. Viltvarslingsprosjektets centrala mål er att bidra till att skapa säkrare väg- och järnvägstransporter i Norden med en infrastruktur som är väl integrerat i landskapet så att naturliga processer och viktiga ekologiska tjänster kan bibehållas. Projektet är en gränsöverskridande satsning inom insatsområde Innovativa Miljöer der svenske og norske forskningsmiljøer sammen med berörda myndigheter, tågbolag, teknologiutviklere, samt andra relevanta aktörer utvikler og tester nya tekniska lösningar. Forskningen har lagt et godt grunnlag for å kunne videreutvikle de tekniske løsningene og gjøre dem mest mulig relevante for formålet å drive vilt bort fra jernbanesporene når toget skal passere. Flest mulige skal ha tilgang til kunnskapen som genereres i prosjektet og dette muliggjør kommersiell utvikling av slike tekniske systemer. Videre har vi bidratt til internasjonal kunnskapsproduksjon og kunnskapsutveksling innenfor problematikken rundt dyrepåkjørsler. Dyrepåkjørsler både på veg og jernbane som involverer større pattedyr har økt betydelig i både Norge, Sverige og resten av Europa i løpet av de siste 40 år. Slike ulykker fører ofte til kostbare skader på kjøretøyet og at det påkjørte dyret påføres store skader eller dør. Ifølge det norske hjorteregisteret har nesten 64.000 større dyr blitt påkjørt på norske veier og jernbaner de siste fem årene. I underkant av 10 prosent av alle viltpåkjørsler skjer med tog. Mellan 4.000–6.000 påkörningar med vilda djur och ren har registrerats längs järnvägsnätet i Sverige per år under det senaste decenniet och trenden är ökande. Mörkertalet i statistiken är okänt men förväntas vara stort i både Norge och Sverige. Metoderna bygger på att med utvalda akustiska signaler skapa en kontrollerad flyktrespons hos djuren när tåg skall passera, och därmed avvärja djuren från infrastrukturen när olycksrisken är som störst. Metoden ska kunna tillämpas där fysiska åtgärder som t ex viltstängsel eller viltpassager inte är möjliga eller där de traditionella åtgärderna behöver kompletteras. Åtgärdskonceptet inkluderar både en stationär lösning vid järnväg med mycket trafik och hög hastighet, och som en mobil lösning för tågfordon längs med järnvägen med mindre trafik och lägre hastighet. Resultaten kommer även att kunna tillämpas i andra sammanhang, t ex för att säkra öppningar i viltstängsel längs väg och vid tunnelmynningar. Projektet utgör en plattform för gränsöverskridande forskning om viltvarning, och en grundförutsättning för att företag och myndigheter skall kunna tillämpa och utveckla metoder för att minska problematiken med viltpåkörning. Prosjektet inkluderer tre arbeidspakker: - AP1) Kontrollerade experiment med det stasjonære skremmesystemet «Motion Activated Scare System» (MASS) der vi undersøker dyrenes respons på olika skrämselsignaler på platser längs järnväg. I projektet har vi kunnat vidareutveckla både funktion och utformning av de tekniska enheterna som vi använder för att avvärja vilt från spåren. De stationära MASS-enheterna har använts vid totalt 29 platser längs järnväg. När MASS-enheterna spelade upp ljudet av en människoröst lämnade klövdjuren området där vi filmade i ca 88 % av fallen. Olika ljud från tåg och järnväg (Bell, Horn, Train) inducerar en något lägre flyktrespons, men trots allt avvärjs djuren i medeltal ca 65 % av tillfällena med dessa ljudtyper. Den vanligaste rörelseriktningen (ca 57 %) var att djuren rörde sig bort från järnvägen efter att de skrämts, medan en lägre andel (ca 22 %) rörde sig mot och över järnvägen. - AP2) Framtagning och test av mobil skrämselenhet «Driver Activated Scare System» (DASS) som er installert innenfor frontruten på ulike togsett og aktiveres av togførere når vedkommende ser dyr på/ved jernbanelinja. I pilotstudien använde vi DASS-enheter för att utforska hur klövvilt, särskilt rådjur (Capreolus capreolus) och älg (Alces alces) reagerar på mötande tåg. Interaktionerna analyserades både ur djurens perspektiv (deras beteende, hur de flydde från tåget etc.) och lokförarnas möjligheter att se djuren från tåghytten (detektionsavstånd). Siden mars 2022 har slike enheter vært i bruk langs Nordlands- og Rørosbanen i Norge. I juni ble DASS-enheter tatt i bruk langs Gjøvikbanen. I tillegg har togførere filmet Kinnekullebanan i Sverige siden slutten av april 2022. Totalt ble det filmet vilt i 192 tillfeller med DASS-enhetene. Totalt ble det registrert 460 individer. Dovhjort (N=230) var den absolutt vanligste arten i forsøkene, etterfulgt av rådyr (N=100). Elg ble registrert på 5 filmer, og kronhjort i 8 filmer. I filmene fra togførerne kunne vi oppdage dyr som sto oppe på selve banelegemet i gjennomsnitt 157 meter fra toget vilket är mycket nära för att ge tillräckligt tid åt både lokförare och djuret att reagera. På grund av försenade tillstånd i arbete med högtalare samt ej tillräckliga tekniska lösningar kunde vi inte montera en högtalare utanpå tåget för att spela upp varningsljud för tester. Istället fokuserade vi på att studera effekten av befintliga alternativ för signalering. Studien kommer att fortsätta under nästa år och arbetet med att hitta en lämplig högtalarlösning pågår. - AP3) Kommunikasjon og prosjektledelse. En bra kommunikation och samverkan med berörda myndigheter, företag och intresseorganisationer är en grundförutsättning när praktiska åtgärder ska utvecklas och implementeras. Viltvarslingsprosjektet inkluderer mange aktører og samarbeidspartnere, både faglige og praktiske, nasjonalt og internasjonalt. Blant allmennheten og blant togaktørene har det i lang tid vært opprørthet og fortvilelse over det store antallet dyr som hvert år dør i kollisjoner med tog og på vei. Det har derfor skapt stor medial interesse når vi nå har begynt å få forskningsresultater som kan bidra til å minske påkjørslene, det vil si både redusering av dyrelidelsene og skadene på togene. I løpet av prosjekttiden med Interreg har det vært en meget hektisk periode med mye media-dekning og kommunikasjon utad om viltprosjektet. Det har vært et 30-talls nyhetsoppslag om prosjektet i nasjonale og lokale norske og svenske aviser. Samtidigt har projektet varit i kontakt med företag och myndigheter i frågor gällande tillämpningen av systemen och hjälp vid experimenten. Det på går flera parallella studer kring järnvägssäkerhet som har beröring till viltvarningsprojektet och där synergier kan tas till vara.Även internationellt bedrivs jämförbar forskning som vi har etablert ett utbyte med och söker nya samarbetsformer. Våra studier visar hittills att det är mycket sannolikt att ett varningssystem som bygger på akustiska signaler, främst den mänskliga rösten, kan vara kostnadseffektiva åtgäder mot djurpåkörnignar på järnväg. En kommersiell, järnvägsbaserad lösning anses vara mycket möjlig. För att nå fram till en tågbaserad lösning däremot behövs fortsatta studier och vidare teknisk utveckling. Vi söker därför för nya medel under 2023-2024 för att kunna driva utvecklingen fram mot implementering och konkreta demonstrationsprojekt.

Abstract:
This paper studies the effects of water sector privatization on consumers' welfare in 46 municipalities in Colombia. The paper evaluates the impact of privatization on access, price, and quality of water as well as health outcomes using differences-in-differences methodology with variation across time (before and after privatization) and between treatment and control groups (privatized and non-privatized municipalities) and controlling for household and municipality characteristics. The results show positive effects of privatization, in particular in urban areas. There are four main results: (i) Privatization in urban areas increases access, has positive effects on the quality, and improves health outcomes. (ii) Privatization increases the price of water in the lower quintiles, although these effects may be the result of the joint implementation of privatization and the elimination of cross subsidies. (iii) In privatized municipalities with better governmental technical capacities there are positive effects on access, prices and quality. (iv) The positive effects of privatization in rural areas on the frequency of the service and on health outcomes are outweighed by negative impacts on access and prices.
