Abstract:
Objective To assess hand hygiene compliance in selected primary hospitals in Ghana. Design A cross-sectional health facility-based observational study was conducted in primary health care facilities in five regions in Ghana. A total of 546 healthcare workers including doctors, nurses, midwives and laboratory personnel from 106 health facilities participated in the study. Main outcome measures The main outcome measures included availability of hand hygiene materials and alcohol job aids; compliance with moments of hand hygiene; and compliance with steps in hygienic hand washing. These were assessed using descriptive statistics. Results The mean availability of hand hygiene material and alcohol job aids was 75% and 71% respectively. This was described as moderately high, but less desirable. The mean hand hygiene compliance with moments of hand hygiene was 51%, which was also described asmoderately high, but less desirable. It was observed that, generally, hand hygiene was performed after procedures than before. However, the mean compliance with steps in hygienic hand washing was 86%, which was described as high and desirable. Conclusion Healthcare workers are generally competent in performance of hygienic hand washing. However, this does not seem to influence compliance with moments of hand hygiene. Efforts must therefore be made to translate the competence of healthcare workers in hygienic hand washing into willingness to comply with moments of hand hygiene, especially contact with patients.

Abstract:
The problem presented in the article concerns the concept of hygienic care and the reasons for objectifying hygiene practices related to the body. The analysis of hygiene goals made based on a critical analysis of key publications and texts inscribed in the evolution of hygiene and educational activity was used to determine the methods of shaping hygienic body awareness in contemporary educational practice. The article attempts to define the common fields of influence of hygiene and pedagogy, draw attention to the reflective way of reading the canon of vital needs of children and adolescents to give them a pro-health meaning in the life cycle. The main conclusions resulting from the analyses carried out are: 1) departing in the education process from traditional thinking about hygiene, i.e. perceiving it as a set of norms and rules of purely medical origin (giving instructions, recommendations to guarantee hygiene safety, focusing awareness on prevention), 2) overcoming the model of preventive hygiene (negative, passive) for the release of hygiene care and education based on transgressive practices of caring for the body, 3) locating hygienic activity in the area of life skills, 4) inducing hygienic sensitivity based on the resources of the living environment and vital values.

Abstract:
Abstract Risk of neonatal mortality secondary to infections such as pneumonia and diarrhoeal diseases can be influenced by maternal hygiene, but little information is known about current maternal hygiene practices in low- and middle-income countries. This study aimed to assess the hygiene practices of mothers of neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) patients in Lusaka, Zambia and associated epidemiological factors. A cross-sectional survey of the mothers of hospitalized neonates at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka was conducted. Study nurses orally administered questionnaires to mothers in their local languages about their hygiene practices related to newborn care. Of the 201 mothers surveyed, self-reported hygiene practice was associated with literacy (p = 0.013) and income (p < 0.0001). In contrast, adherence to recommended hygienic newborn care was less common, with only 36% of mothers practising recommended cord care practices. Forgetfulness (32%) and lack of hygiene resources (13%) were the major barriers to hygienic behaviours. Surveyed Zambian women who delivered babies requiring NICU care self-reported adequate hygienic practices and apparently faced difficulty practising them due to forgetfulness and a lack of hygiene resources. Future efforts should focus on improving cord care education, reinforcement of the importance of hygienic behaviours, and the supply of affordable antiseptic tools.

Abstract:
Hindu culture and religion has its own idea regarding what constitutes excellent physical, mental, and spiritual purity. It would be interesting to learn more about whether or not the Hindu society of today adheres to the same practices. All Hindus view maintaining personal hygiene, including cleanliness of the body, hands, clothes, hygienic toilet, and menstrual hygiene management, as a duty and a fundamental principle. Personal hygiene is considered to be a key component of Hindu society. The major objective is to comprehend the level of awareness and personal hygienic behavior in Hindu society. The study primarily takes into account two cultural and social aspects of personal hygiene. The study used hand washing behaviors, trimming and combing procedures, menstrual hygiene management, usage of safe toilet, brushing, bathing, and cleaning practices as the main areas of the study. The necessity of hygienic habits for happiness, social status, and cultural continuity was also well understood in Hindu society. More Hindus now practice personal hygiene than during the Vedic Hindu era. Hygiene habits may be improved by affecting the attitudes of the society. A social and behavior change communication approach for hygiene behaviors should be implemented by the society. The improvement of daily personal hygiene routines and behavior adjustment are required to raise a better social status and cultural practices. The Hindu community is also adopting a novel viewpoint on the connection between personal hygiene and Hindu culture.

Abstract:
Abstract The Total Bacterial Count (TBC) and the Somatic Cells Count (SCC) in the milk are important indicators of its hygiene and quality. Hygienic conditions in barns, milking procedures, udder hygiene before, during and after milking, milking machine hygiene, as well as milk cooling procedures immediately after milking, have direct or indirect influences on milk hygiene indicators. Poor results of milk hygiene quality, when it comes to SCC and TBC, which are often seen in dairy cattle farms in our country, indicate numerous omissions before and during milking. To determine the possibility of improving milk hygiene quality, training of extension service professionals and farmers was conducted, corrective and preventive measures were determined and the achieved state was monitored on 128 dairy farms where SCC and TBC were observed at regular monthly intervals for 6 months. The results showed a continuous statistically very significant improvement in hygienic conditions in barns, milking procedures, udder hygiene before, during and after milking, milking machine hygiene, as well as milk cooling procedures. This has contributed to a statistically very significant improvement in the hygienic quality of milk, both in SCC and TBC indicators, continuously from month to month, with a visible improvement at the end related to the beginning of the study period. At the begining and the end of survey 19.7% and 50.0% of milk samples belong to 1st class of milk quality, respectively, indicating a significant improvement after implementation of corrective measurements.

Abstract:
Today, street food vending is becoming a dynamically developing food industry in Europe, including Poland. Lifestyle changes and socioeconomic factors, especially among young consumers, make it a convenient food alternative, even in countries without this tradition. The aim of the study was to evaluate hygiene conditions and practices in selected street food facilities in Poland. The study was carried out in accordance with an observation checklist developed on the basis of the hygienic requirements of the European Union. The study covered 550 randomly selected street food vendors in Poland in 10 cities. The hygiene of street food outlets was assessed in three aspects: ensuring proper production conditions, hygiene of production and distribution, and hygiene of personnel. The evaluation of street food outlets showed that the level of hygiene was not fully acceptable. A small percentage of the examined objects satisfactorily fulfilled the requirements of the production conditions, production and distribution hygiene, and staff hygiene. The proposed hygienic checklist for quick daily monitoring of street food outlets can be used to perform internal and external inspections. It seems that specific codes of conduct for European street foods facilities are necessary.

Abstract:
The current study analyzed the hygiene anxiety of consumers within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hygiene anxiety means the state of being worried about the cleanliness of purchased or to-be-purchased products/services that may cause illness. It is hypothesized that the hygiene anxiety experienced by consumers with strong emotional bonds with their brands - consumers who love the brand - would not reduce their purchasing intentions. In the first study, unexpectedly, it was found that the purchase intention of consumers with higher brand love significantly decreased when their hygiene anxiety was triggered. In the second study, what can reduce the hygiene anxiety of consumers is qualitatively inquired. Direct and indirect anxiolytic efforts were discovered. Indirect efforts are the brand's hygienic image, brand trust, and country of origin. Direct efforts are categorized under a hygienic 3P (product, promotion, and place) concept inspired by the classical marketing mix (4P).

Abstract:
Abstract Suboptimal understanding of concepts related to hygiene by the general public, clinicians and researchers is a persistent problem in health and medicine. Although hygiene is necessary to slow or prevent deadly pandemics of infectious disease such as coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), hygiene can have unwanted effects. In particular, some aspects of hygiene cause a loss of biodiversity from the human body, characterized by the almost complete removal of intestinal worms (helminths) and protists. Research spanning more than half a century documents that this loss of biodiversity results in an increased propensity for autoimmune disease, allergic disorders, probably neuropsychiatric problems and adverse reactions to infectious agents. The differences in immune function between communities with and communities without helminths have become so pronounced that the reduced lethality of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 in low-income countries compared to high-income countries was predicted early in the COVID-19 pandemic. This prediction, based on the maladaptive immune responses observed in many cases of COVID-19 in high-income countries, is now supported by emerging data from low-income countries. Herein, hygiene is subdivided into components involving personal choice versus components instituted by community wide systems such as sewage treatment facilities and water treatment plants. The different effects of personal hygiene and systems hygiene are described, and appropriate measures to alleviate the adverse effects of hygiene without losing the benefits of hygiene are discussed. Finally, text boxes are provided to function as stand-alone, public-domain handouts with the goal of informing the public about hygiene and suggesting solutions for biomedical researchers and policy makers. Lay Summary: Hygiene related to sewer systems and other technology can have adverse effects on immune function, and is distinct from personal hygiene practices such as hand washing and social distancing. Dealing with the drawbacks of hygiene must be undertaken without compromising the protection from infectious disease imposed by hygiene.

Abstract:
Rambak (hide’s cracker) produced by small and medium-scale local communities still relies on production processes that have been passed down from generation to generation, resulting in minimal application of information and technology related to food safety. Thus, training in food hygienic practices needs to be carried out on different food handlers in order to provide an overview of the level of success of a program. This research aims to evaluate the impact of food hygienic practices training on knowledge, perception, attitude, and practice of food handlers in producing rambak. Training activities were carried out at the rambak production site involving 14 workers. The training process included presentations of raw materials (hides), rambak qualities, and good hygienic practices, then it was followed by demonstrations of good hygiene practices. Furthermore, the workers put into practice the work method demonstrated by the team. The assessment of knowledge, attitudes, and practices using questionnaire were carried out before and after the training. After training, the majority of rambak workers understand how to use raw materials and food hygiene practices, but they lack knowledge about packaging aspects and good rambak quality, such as washing fresh ingredients with tap water. Worker attitudes show that they have positive attitudes toward good hygiene practices, with the exception of touching food with bare hands. Food hygiene practice demonstrates that they had good hygienic practices, but they did not separate raw materials from cooked rambak. The effect of food hygiene practices training on internal characteristics demonstrates that workers' attitudes improved significantly (p<0,05), but not their knowledge and practice of hygienic principles. In summary, several aspects of worker characteristics need to be improved includes knowledge, attitude, and practice of food hygiene. The training effect improved rambak workers' attitudes but did not improve their knowledge or practice of hygienic principles

Abstract:
During the nineteenth century socio-political and economic transformations, as well as scientific discoveries, changed views on health and its value. Also, the concept of public health, which was no longer concentrated on the individual but on a group of people, was included in the sphere of interest of thebroader strata of society in the Central and Eastern Europe. The hygienic movement occupied an important modernizing segment in a wide range ofsocial movement and had an influence on changes in urban space during the nineteenth and the twentieth centuries. Cleanliness and health became signsof modern city and civilization.More noticeable public interest to hygienic ideas in Lviv emerged in the late nineteenth-early twentieth century. One of the manifestations of this was the emergence of hygienic periodicals that focused on issues of public health issues, and especially hygiene, covered almost all areas of everyday life – hygieneof clothing, nutrition, school an urban hygiene etc. At the first time, such journal was published in Lviv during 1872. Four periodicals dedicated to hygiene were published in the city in the period between 1902 and 1914. The publishing of all these periodicals was a non-profit enterprise, and editors were constantly looking for financial resources to ensure their existence. In the first place, the initiative of publishing belonged to Ukrainian and Polish doctors. Lviv hygienic periodicals were published in Polish and Ukrainian and were addressed to the respective national communities. They discussed the same issues, spread the same ideas, but focused mostly on Polish or Ukrainian readers, reflected the socio-political ideas of that time and integrated the concept of health into the competitive ideas of national development.

Abstract:
Systemic scleroderma is a multisystem autoimmune disorder characterized by widespread fibrosis, vascular alterations and inflammation. Systemic scleroderma mainly affects people in age from 30 to 50 years, but the onset of disease can occur in any age. Oral hygiene details in these patients are still poorly known, that is why more researches should be made to improve dental prevention measures. In the study, the hygienic status of 80 patients with systemic scleroderma was determined. The level of hygiene was determined using the Green Vermilion Index (OHI-S). The assessment was carried out before the individual oral hygiene correction and a week after. Results: in group 1 (patients from 30 to 44 years) before the individual hygiene correction, the average value of the index was 3.31, after correction (after 7 days) - 2.32, in the 2nd group (patients from 45 to 65 years) - 5.6, after training - 3.56. Correction of the hygienic status of these patients leads to a dental health improvemant, therefore great attention should be paid to oral hygiene.

Abstract:
To improve and maintain dental health among the population today, the leading task of primary prevention is to increase motivation in individual oral hygiene. The low level of oral hygiene comes to the fore, which forms the hygienic and dental status, leading to an increase in the prevalence of caries and inflammatory periodontal diseases in the population. The survival of dental prophylactic knowledge, taking into account the hygienic and periodontal status in the adult population, was studied to determine the need for dental hygiene education and upbringing. Preservation of dental hygiene knowledge determines the level of dental health in the adult population. The leading feature of the prevention of major dental diseases among various groups is the constant repeated “hygiene lessons” in the adult population, taking into account their dental status, which maintains a higher level of preservation of preventive knowledge and motivation to take the necessary actions. The ongoing monitoring made it possible to correct the preventive focus of sanitary and educational work, which increased the level of dental health among the population.

Abstract:
Cystic fibrosis (CF) promotes the development of gingivitis in children. The high prevalence and early manifestation of gingivitis is due to a combination of many factors. The pathogenic mechanisms of cystic fibrosis lead to disruption of normal physiological processes in the oral cavity, in particular, to a decrease in the level of salivation, to an increase in the viscosity of saliva, to a suppression of local immunity. Therefore, poor oral hygiene contributes to oral diseases. The aim of the study was to determine the level of oral hygiene in children with CF as one of the reasons for the development of gingivitis, and to select dental hygiene products that active towards factors that affect plaque. Material and methods. A total of 24 children with CF in the Ukrainian population participated in the study. The hygienic index OHI-S (J. C. Green, J. R. Wermillion, 1964) was calculated. The data were analyzed using Student’s criterions. The analysis was performed with a confidence level of 95 %. Results. The level of hygiene of the oral cavity was unsatisfactory among patients (OHI-S=2.19±0.11). Hygiene methods and dental hygiene products, to taking into account the manifestation of the pathogenesis of somatic disease, were selected. A follow-up study after 3 months revealed a significant positive trend in indicators of oral hygiene. Conclusions. This study has shown the low level of oral hygiene in children with CF. Hygienic education and motivation of these patients could help them achieve a higher level of oral health knowledge and are important starting points for the treatment and prevention of gingivitis. There was a significant improvement of the oral hygiene level after training children and after the proper selection of hygiene products. The dentists should use means and methods that have not contraindicate in patients of this category. It is recommended to monitore the hygiene indices to establish the effectiveness of the measures and necessity for individually therapy correction.

Abstract:
Background: The level of personal hygiene has a strong bearing on preventive capacity for many diseases and hence the assessment of its level assumes great significance. The school being a strong base for hygienic practices, the present study aimed to assess the level of personal hygiene and its associated factors as well as its effect on morbidity level of school children in a rural belt of southern Rajasthan. Methods: The cross-sectional study was conducted among 250 students studying in classes VIII to XII in 3 different schools of southern Rajasthan from November 2018 to February 2019.The data was obtained by interview method using pretested questionnaire which included socio-demographic factors, the hygienic practices and occurrence of diseases as dichotomous questions. The association of the attributes was tested through Chi-square test, correlation and regression techniques. Results: Only 22% students scored above 75% and were categorized as good practioners of personal hygiene. The age of students, parents literacy, and household income were significantly associated with personal hygiene. The common morbidities like head lice and dental caries were found gender sensitive in the study area. The negative association between disease score and personal hygiene score implied that the disease burden of children can be minimized with higher personal hygiene practices. Conclusions: Systematic efforts to sensitize school children and parents about importance of personal hygiene, improvement in parental literacy coupled with economic empowerment of rural families can help to enhance the status of personal hygiene of students and thereby drastic reduction in their disease burden.

Menstruation is a normal and necessary part of life, and maintaining proper menstrual hygiene is crucial for women's and girls' health as well as their right to access basic services for sanitation, hygiene, and reproductive health.Thesafe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) aspectof menstrual hygiene has significantly gained attention in recent times. In lowand middle-income nations, womenface significant menstrual hygiene management challenges. These problems stem from a lack of information and inadequate water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities.Women frequently struggle with a lack of access to menstrual hygiene products, or if they do, the high priceof sanitary pad render them unaffordable. The lives of vulnerable women are significantly impacted by stigma and period poverty, forcing them to use unhygienic alternatives like dried leaves and soiled old clothes as sanitary pads. The Menstrual Hygiene Day is observed on May 28 because women menstruate on average five days per month and menstrual cycles last an average of 28 days. 25 percent of World Bank education projects included menstrual hygiene management components, such as the provision of sanitary and hygienic restrooms or separate restrooms for boys and girls in their schools. To empower women and tackle misinformation, this study will contribute to raising awareness regarding the management of menstrual hygiene.

Abstract:
Hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) are a major contributor to death, morbidity, diminished quality of life, and growing healthcare expenditures. To protect patient health, it is crucial to reduce the risk of HAI by organising and putting into practice efficient preventative measures. The most important method of infection prevention generally agreed upon is hand cleanliness. Washing your hands can keep you healthy and stop the transmission of many respiratory and diarrheal illnesses. On any given day, 1 in 31 hospital patients develops an HAI while being treated. Hand hygiene is the simplest and effective method for the prevention of these. This study aimed to assess the hand-hygiene compliance among health care workers at GMC Anantnag and associated hospitals. A cross-sectional observational study was carried out among HCWs and 313 opportunities were observed using WHO tool for hand hygiene according to WHO “5 moments of hand hygiene.” The sampling technique adopted for selection of sample was non-probability convenience sampling. Out of total 244 opportunities of nurses, 181 (74%) had non-hand hygienic actions while 63 (26%) had hand hygienic actions. Out of total 59 opportunities of doctors, 29 (49%) had non-hand hygienic actions while 30 (51%) had hand hygienic actions. Out of total 10 opportunities of nursing aides, 9 (90%) had non-hand hygienic actions while 1 (10%) had hygienic actions. The overall hand hygienic observed among health care workers as per WHO Guidelines was 30 percent only. Nurses had an adherence rate of 26 percent, doctors 51 percent and nursing aids had 10 percent only. The present study showed low levels of adherence to best hygiene practices with overall compliance of 30 percent revealing that there is need to implement immediate strategies for infection control at GMC Anantnag and associated hospital.

Abstract:
Purpose: analysis of the preventive effectiveness of the agent based on bacteriophages “Phagodent” in persons with dental implants. Material and methods: two groups were compared: with standard hygienic oral care and with additional applications of Phagodent gel on the gum (main group, 15 people, bridges on 49 implants; comparison group, 10 people, bridges on 42 implants); observation of patients with implants. For comparison, hygienic periodontal indices (oral hygiene index, hygiene index, gingivitis index, Mulleman index) were used. Results: when using the Phagodent gel at home and with standard oral hygiene, no development of periimplantitis with bone resorption was recorded during the year of observation. At the same time, mucositis was found in one implant in the main group (2.0%) and in two in the comparison group (4.8%). A year later, the index of oral hygiene of IG-U deteriorated in the main group to 1.9±0.1, in the comparison group to 2.1± 0.2; the index of hygiene of IG in the comparison group corresponded to 1.3±0.3, in the main group – 1.0±0.1; the index of gingivitis of IG in the main group was 0.1± 0.1; in the control group 0.2 ±0.1; The Mulleman index in a year it did not exceed 0.1 ±0.1 in both groups. Thus, the use of “Phagodent” gel in the main group of patients prevented the development of mucositis due to the positive effect on oral hygiene, reflected by the hygienic indices of IGM-U and IGIM. Due to the positive effect on oral hygiene in patients with dentures on dental implants, the gel based on bacteriophages “Phagodent” has a preventive effect on inflammatory complications in the state of periimplant tissues and can be used by the patient independently at home.

It is pointed out that these milking procedures should be carried out in a clean environment and without any disturbance to cows. In addition, the need to control the implementation of these hygiene measures is emphasized. A proper way of carrying out the hygienic procedures essentially contributes to reduction of the number of microorganisms and the number of somatic cells in milk, the frequency of occurrence of mastitis, which significantly affects quality of milk and health of milking cows.

Abstract:
The Hodgkin’s disease (lymphogranulomatosis, LGM) stands at the top of the list among malignant lymphomas in children. The highest rate of it occurrence coincides with childhood. LGM is most common at 4-6 and 12-14 years. The scope of scientific clinical research on odontoand parodontopathology is limited among pediatric population. The quantitative and qualitative composition of plaque, its thickness and area is primary pathogenic chain. In turn, unsatisfactory oral hygiene contributes to the development of decay and periodontal and oral mucosal disease in children with LGM. Our research aims to study the oral hygienic condition in patients with LGM during different clinical stages of the underlying disease. In order to reduce the toxic effect of LGM treatment, rational oral hygiene preventive measures shall be implemented. Matherials and methods. A total of 45 patients of both sexes in the 5-15 year age group diagnozed with lymphogranulomatosis (LGM) were examined. 243 healthy age-and-sex-matched children were included in the control group. The patients with lymphogranulomatosis (LGM I) were examined after the initial diagnosis. Group II (LGM II) consisted of patients who had completed the first polychemestry treatment cycle. Group III (LGM III) included patients who had a constant remission period (from over 6 months to 5 years). The oral hygienic condition was studied using the Pahomov’s hygienic index, the simplified oral hygiene index (OHI-S by Greene and Vermilion), the PHP hygiene hygiene efficiency index (Podshadley, Haley, 1968), the modified Turesky index (1970), and API surfaces [6]. The data was statistically analyzed using Student's-Fisher's method. The Pahomov's hygienic index (PHI) in children aged 5-15 with LGM was quite different in the main and control groups (p<0.05). The score of PHI was 2.3 ± 0.05 (p<0.05) in patient group with LGM (LGM I). The Pahomov's hygienic index had increased in the children aged 5-15 diagnozed with LGM. The Pahomov’s index values from the second (LGM II) and third (LGM III) examinations were found to be quite different when compared to the control group of children of the same age (p<0.05). This PHI value was 3.39 ± 0.11 (very poor) after the second examination (LGM II) and was at 2.7 ± 0.10 (poor) during the third examination (LGM II). The satisfactory and unsatisfactory oral hygiene conditions according to the Pahomov’s index were observed in 5-15 year old children with LGM. The satisfactory and unsatisfactory oral hygiene conditions have been established using the Pahomov’s index, Green-Vermilion, Tureski, PHP, API in 5-15 year old children with LGM. The children might have completely given up on tooth brushing due to increased trauma and bleeding gums. Soft plaque is often responsible for dental decay in primary and permanent teeth in children and periodontal diseases. The analysis of the individual oral hygiene condition determined poor level of hygiene skill in patients with LGM compared to somatically healthy children. Hygienic condition and care depend on age, clinical stage of the underlying disease, the course of pathological complications in hard dental and soft oral tissues. Conclusion. Our clinical study established a poor oral hygiene condition by using different groups of dental hygiene indicators in patients with LGM. This condition particularly worsens during chemotherapy, which causes significant changes in periodontal, oral mucous and hard dental tissues. Children have low awareness of oral cavity care requirements or the specifics of selecting hygiene supplies and facilities. In those cases, the dental examination was required for raising awareness and providing oral hygiene control which was carried out among patients at different stages of the Hodgkin’s disease and it remission. Therefore, adopting such measures would provide an opportunity to increase the resistance of hard dental and periodontal tissues.

Abstract:
Every religion and culture has its ideas about purity, cleanliness, and what constitutes good physical, personal, and mental cleanliness. The current Hindu society of today stands the same knowledge and customs, but they view hygiene from a different angle. Personal hygiene and sanitation are taken as significant aspects linked to Hindu society. Purity, faith, ritual, and cleanliness in Hindu society are based on the Hindu scriptures related to sanitation and hygiene patterns and the main objective of cleanliness and regular practice in the current society. The study is based on Hindu men and women above 35 years old. The study considers sanitation and hygiene in numerous aspects, including religion, social prestige, self-satisfaction, health, etc. The study includes toilet use, personal hygiene, safe drinking water, and household hygiene as variables. While sanitation and hygiene are prioritized in Hinduism, the modern Hindu community is evolving to recognize not only religious but also physical, social, and psychological well-being. The respondents had high knowledge, favorable attitudes, and good behavior about sanitation and hygiene. Hindu society has internalized and practiced sanitation and hygienic behavior from both religious and health perspectives. The Hindu community also agrees with the new approach to the relationship between Hindu rituals and hygiene and sanitation.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate hygiene conditions and practices in selected street food facilities in Paris, France. One hundred twenty mobile food establishments were studied: kiosks, 66 (55%); stands, 32 (26.7%); and food trucks, 22 (18.3%). Inspection of street food vendors and short interviews with staff using a specially designed checklist revealed that none of them were entirely hygienic. The hygiene conditions of the facilities themselves were the most satisfactory (77% of them were up to standard), but hygiene was less so for production and distribution processes (65% were satisfactory) and personal hygiene (67% were satisfactory). A significant (P ≤ 0.05) correlation between the general hygiene status and the hygiene conditions of the production and distribution processes (r = 0.86) and the hygiene practices of workers (r = 0.86) was found. The instances of noncompliance that were found may affect the safety of street-vended food. Because of its increasing popularity, it is important to correct poor hygiene practices. It is very important to identify common instances of noncompliance for street food facilities and to develop real remedial actions. Procedures to control the hygiene of street food vendors should also be developed. The checklist, which was specially designed to evaluate street vendor outlets, could also be used to pre-assess the hygiene conditions of production by those responsible for food hygiene. Furthermore, it could serve as a checklist for self-assessment (internal audit) by the vendors themselves and be adopted as a consumer education tool, to increase awareness of food hygiene of a catering facility.

Abstract:
Relevance. The oral hygiene and prevention quality depends on toothpaste. The literature analysis shows the underuse of saliva biochemical parameters for assessing oral hygiene product effectiveness.Materials and methods. Thirty-three subjects aged 19 to 22 years participated in the study. The participants used four kinds of toothpaste by the same manufacturer to evaluate the toothpaste’s effectiveness. We conducted clinical examinations and collected saliva samples on the 1st, 14th and 28th days of the study. The saliva was collected on an empty stomach without stimulation in the morning. Then it was centrifuged. The supernatant was biochemically studied.Results. The study established the criteria for the toothpaste’s low effectiveness, which involve a signifcant increase in hygienic indices and total antioxidant activity, associated with a statistically signifcant trend towards an increase in lactate content. The criteria for a toothpaste with medium effectiveness are a signifcant decrease in one of the hygienic indices, associated with an alkaline pH shift, and an increase in the total antioxidant activity, without signifcant changes in the lactate content. The criteria for a highly effective toothpaste are a signifcant decrease in hygienic indices, and an alkaline pH shift, associated with a signifcant lactate decrease. Determination of total calcium and inorganic phosphorus in the oral fluid may be crucial for assessing the toothpaste remineralizing properties. The glucose content in mixed saliva yields little information for the toothpaste’s hygienic effectiveness assessment.Conclusion. We can recommend saliva biochemical parameters for assessing the oral hygiene status and the effectiveness of oral hygiene products during oral hygiene product comprehensive studies.

Abstract:
For the 17- and 120-day isolation campaigns within project SIRIUS, the stock of personal hygiene items (PHIs), underwear and clothes was supplied in compliance with the current ISS rates of consumption. Over 120 questionnaires filled by the human subjects made possible estimation of the total weight of these provisions in a mission to the Moon, and get feedback about the hygienic means and methods. The hygienic comfort of 6 crewmembers of the 120-d isolation campaign required more than 500 kg of underwear, bedclothes, towels, personal hygiene items, pieces of toilet and household essentials, which are also musts in a mission to the Moon and back. Long-duration missions and sojourns on lunar and Mars bases will call for designing arrangements for personal hygiene, shower, dish washing and laundry integrated with regenerative life support systems. Results of the investigation showed effectiveness of the sanitation and hygiene system and its functional significance.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Background: Menstrual hygiene management is integrally associated with reproductive health of women. Menstrual health and hygiene needs, particularly of tribal women still remain unmet for many reasons. Inappropriate menstrual behaviour leads to adverse health consequences. Objectives: This study aimed to ascertain the menstrual hygiene behaviour of tribal married women aged 15 to 49 years and its correlates. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted from May 2019 to April 2020 in the Barabani block of Paschim Bardhaman district, West Bengal. A calculated sample of 530 women was selected randomly from 10 tribal villages of the study area; they were interviewed through a pre-designed schedule for socio-demographic and menstrual hygiene behaviour characteristics. Menstrual hygiene management score was derived based on five essential components- hygienic absorbents, hygienic disposal of absorbents, frequency of changing of absorbents, cleaning of external genitalia and source of water for cleaning; menstrual hygiene behaviour was categorised as favourable and unfavourable. Bivariate and multivariable logistic regression was performed using SPSS v. 20. Results: All 530 women were Hindu and belonged to Santhal ethnicity; 53.4% were illiterate. Sanitary pads were used by 43.8% of women; 63% practised indiscriminate throwing for disposal of absorbents; 86% practised appropriate changing of absorbents. Overall, 63% had favourable menstrual hygiene management behaviour, and the literacy status of women was found to be a significant predictor. Conclusion: Unfavourable menstrual practices are still widely prevalent among tribal women, mainly attributable to lack of knowledge. Awareness generation should be focused on improving those practices, which would also result in the improvement of general health conditions.
