The industrial design of a component is a complex, time-consuming and costly process constrained to precise physical, styling and development specifications led by its future conditions and environment of use. Indeed, an industrial component is defined and characterized by many parameters which must be optimized to best satisfy all those specifications. However, the complexity of this multi-parametric constrained optimization problem is such that its analytical resolution is compromised. In the recent past, such a problem was solved experimentally, by trial and error, leading to expensive and time-consuming design processes. Since the mid-20th century, with the advancement and widespread access to increasingly powerful computing technologies, the ``virtual twins'', or physics-based numerical simulations, became an essential tool for research and development, significantly diminishing the need for experimental measurements. However, despite the computing power available today, ``virtual twins'' are still limited by the complexity of the problem solved and present some significant deviations from reality due to the ignorance of certain subjacent physics. In the late 20th century, the volume of data has surge enormously, massively spreading in the majority of fields and leading to a wide proliferation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques, or ``digital twins'', partially substituting the ``virtual twins'' thanks to their lower intricacy. Nevertheless, they need an important training stage and can lead to some aversion since they operate as black boxes. Today, these technological evolutions have resulted in a framework where theory, experimentation, simulation and data can interact in synergy and reinforce each other. In this context, Stellantis aims to explore how AI can improve the design process of a complex aerodynamic system: an innovative cockpit air vent. To this purpose, the main goal of this thesis is to develop a parametric surrogate of the aerator geometry which outputs the norm of the velocity field at the pilot's face in order to explore the space of possible geometries while evaluating their performances in real time. The development of such a data-based metamodel entails several conceptual problems which can be addressed with AI.The use of classical regression techniques can lead to unphysical interpolation results in some domains such as fluid dynamics. Thus, the proposed parametric surrogate is based on Optimal Transport (OT) theory which offers a mathematical approach to measure distances and interpolate between general objects in a novel way.The success of a data-driven model relies on the quality of the training data. On the one hand, experimental data is considered as the most realistic but is extremely costly and time-consuming. On the other hand, numerical simulations are cheaper and faster but present a significant deviation from reality. Therefore, a Hybrid Twin approach is proposed based on Optimal Transport theory in order to bridge the ignorance gap between simulation and measurement. The sampling process of training data has become a central workload in the development process of a data-based model. Hence, an Active Learning methodology is proposed to iteratively and smartly select the training points, based on industrial objectives expected from the studied component, in order to minimize the number of needed samples. Thus, this sampling strategy maximizes the performance of the model while converging to the optimal solution of the industrial problem. The accuracy of a data-based model is usually the main concern of its training process. However, reality is complex and unpredictable leading to input parameters known with a certain degree of uncertainty. Therefore, a data-based Uncertainty Quantifcation methodology, based on Monte Carlo estimators and OT, is proposed to take into account the uncertainties propagation into the surrogate and to quantify their impact on its precision

Assembly operations of aerostructures are nowadays planned using the Digital Mock Up of the considered products. To allow a good realization of the aforementioned operations, the geometry of the physical product must remain as faithful as possible to the reference geometry contained in the Digital Mock Up. Because of the complexity of the considered products, unanticipated geometrical deviations may however appear. These geometrical deviations lead to longer cycle times and higher assembly costs. The increasing integration of data processing system gives new prospects on how to organize production systems. These prospects include the possibility to optimize the manufacturing and assembly operations in real time thanks to the use of digital twins of the manufactured products. In this work, we propose the implementation of a geometrical digital twin. This digital twin is capable of mirroring the geometry of the physical product being assembled and optimizing the geometry of some components remaining to be assembled. With this in mind, the initial Digital Mock Up is updated in order to obtain a hybrid representation of the product. This representation includes the different states of the components, which are called as-designed, as-built and interface. The as-built components are more particularly updated in order to mirror the geometry of the physical product being assembled. A method using digitized data is proposed. From there, the geometry of interface components is updated so that the final product complies with the functional requirements which were defined. A method is also proposed for this purpose. The feasibility of the approach as well as the proposed tools is evaluated through two application cases, one of which is directly representative of the industrial context of the works. The obtained results allow to consider enriching the proposed approach by considering non-geometrical constraints in order to optimize assembly operations

Doctoral dissertation summarizes the research on the functioning and flow around a two-stage, shrouded wind turbine. Placing the turbine at the inlet of a diverging channel allows to increase the mass flow rate of the flow through the rotor. To better take advantage of the increase in wind speed at the diffuser inlet, it was decided to examine the possibility of placing a second rotor in this area, with the opposite direction of rotation. The conducted study combined several different research paths, including Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) methods and experimental studies. This allowed for a more refined understanding of the nature of the flow and operation of a wind turbine with two rotors. Experimental research was carried out in the IMP TUL wind tunnel. A series of measurements of various turbine systems with and without shroud, with single- and double-rotor wind turbine were made. The collected results allowed to confirm that the shrouding can significantly (even twice) increase the efficiency of the rotor. However, aerodynamic forces and rotational speed also increase. This disadvantage can be partially addressed by using a second rotor and distributing aerodynamic loads to two turbine stages. An important part of the study were numerical simulations. They allowed to specify in more detail the nature and parameters of the flow and to estimate their impact on the performance of the wind turbine. Two different numerical models were developed:• Fully-resolved Rotor Model: URANS model in ANSYS CFX, based on discretising the entire geometry of the rotor, used for the flow analysis,• Hybrid model CFD-BET (Blade-Element Theory): RANS model in ANSYS Fluent, in which the rotor is represented by source terms in the Navier-Stokes equations, determined by an in-house code; the model was used to evaluate the performance of different wind turbine configurations. In the course of the research an in-house, empirical tip loss correction was proposed, taking into account the influence of the diffuser. The performed study permitted to observe, among others, that moving the rear rotor towards the outlet of the diffuser may result in a reduction of the wind speed through the front rotor, placed at the inlet to the diffuser, and a decrease in the overall system power

Polyoxometalates (POM) are anionic compounds formed by the assembly of metal oxide polyhedra {MOy}, (with M, MoVI or WVI) linked together by oxygen atoms. POM thus form a remarkable class of nanometric inorganic metal oxide clusters, with a wide variety of charges and structures. It is possible to form hybrid systems including the inorganic part of the POM and a grafted organic part, allowing new functionalities to be added to the POM, such as selfassembly. We have dedicated this thesis work to the characterization of standards, hybrid and self-assembled POM systems by mass spectrometry coupled to ion mobility spectrometry (IMS-MS). A first experimental approach using drift tube ion mobility spectrometry (DTIMS) allowed us to determine the collision cross sections (CCS) of standard POM in helium and nitrogen. The CCS of the POM standards then allowed us to calibrate an IMS cell of a Travelling Wave ion mobility instrument (TWIMS). The analysis by IMS-MS of organic-inorganic hybrid POMs alone or in the presence of transition metal cations revealed the presence of self-assembled triangular [POM3·cation3], square [POM4·cation4] or pentagonal [POM5·cation5] systems with different charge states. CCS values of these self-assemblies was estimated from the calibration of the TWIMS cell. Using a theoretical approach, we modelled several standard POM structures with and without tetrabutylammonium counterion (TBA+) using density functional theory (DFT). The optimized structures were used to determine theoretical CCS using the trajectory method of the MOBCAL software, in which we incorporated molybdenum and tungsten atoms for which we optimized new Lennard Jones potential parameters. The correspondence of experimental and theoretical CCS of standard POM structures offers new possibilities for structural attribution of self-assembled hybrid POM by coordination in the presence of metal cations

In the present work nitrogen-containing monomers have been synthesized by reactions of silicon tetrachloride with amines or lactames and were characterized by different spectroscopic and thermal analysis methods. The twin monomers 2,2‘-spirobi[3,4-dihydro-1H-1,3,2-benzodiazasiline] and 1,1’,4,4‘-tetrahydro-2,2‘-spirobi[benzo[d][1,3,2]¬oxazasiline] can be converted to hybrid materials containing polyaniline-formaldehyde resins and polysilazane or SiO2 by thermal induced twin polymerization under variation of the reaction temperature. The obtained nano composites were investigated by spectroscopic methods and electron microscopy. The lactam containing monomers were polymerized to polyamide 6/SiO2-composites by addition of aminocarbonic acids and -caprolactam. The analysis of the molecular structure as well as the investigation of the thermal behavior and the homogeneity of materials was emphasized. It could be shown, that the synthesis can be performed reproducible. Furthermore, it is possible to extrude the thermoplastic composite materials to films

Summary This study was for the purpose of investigating various cutting methods and their improvements in Hippeastrum, and thereby to increase the propagation rate and growth speed of the bulblets, thereafter by means of developing a simple manipulation technology to achieve the best economic benefit in bulblet production. The cutting methods underwent investigation including notching, notching twin-scaling, notching coring and top-notching. The results showed that notching twin-scaling was the highest in number of bulblet formation, then notching and notching coring came next and both had no significant difference, and top-notching was the lowest. In comparison among cultivars ,‘Lady Jane’and‘Apple Blossom’was the highest in rate of bulblet formation, then‘Red Lion’came next, and‘Double Record’was the lowest. The notching twin-scaling developed in this study is the improved method of notching technique. The bulbs were first cut into eight parts from the base evenly. The cutting depth was approximately 2/3 of the bulbs length but each equal part was not separated from the mother bulb. After two days curing, bulbs were placed into the moisturized vermiculite for 4 month incubation. In comparisons for the bulblet reproduction percentage in different seasons showed January and July were the highest and had no significant difference, October came next, and April was the lowest. The bigger the bulb circumference size was the higher the bulblet reproduction percentage obtained. The bulb with a circumference size above 20 centimeters can be the standard size for reproduction. The most suitable bulb cutting number is 8 equal parts. Compare with the twin-scaling, the notching twin-scaling technique had faster initial growth of bulblets and the bulblets were larger. Moreover it could shorten the growth in period from bulblet to flowering bulb. The result from the improvement on incubation method showed that initial period bulbs could put on non-medium incubation shelf, then place into moisturized vermiculite after one month later when bulblets reproduced. This method can avoid the scales rottenness , thus raising the bulblet formation rate and growth speed. Furthermore can save the manipulation management space. In conclusion, the notching twin-scaling propagation technique effectively save nursery space, obtain higher bulblet formation percentage and shorten the initial growth period of the bulblets, therefore it can be applied to a simple massive and fast bulblets production program, and can also performed as a reference for commercial propagation of Hippeastrum bulbs. Specially prepared 2-amino-5-bromo-3-iodoacetophenone and 5-bromo-2-hydroxy-3 iodoacetophenone were subjected to Claisen-Schmidt aldol condensation with benzaldehyde derivatives followed by sequential and/or one-pot palladium catalyzed Sonogashira cross coupling and heteroannulation of the 3-alkynylated intermediates to afford indole-chalcones and benzofuran-chalcones, respectively. The indole-chalcones derivatives were, in turn, subjected to trifluoroacetic anhydride in tetrahydrofuran under reflux to afford the corresponding 3-trifluoroacetyl substituted indole-chalcone derivatives. The coupling constant values (Jtrans) of about 16.0 Hz for the chalcone derivatives corresponding to the vinylic protons confirmed the trans geometry of the α,β-unsaturated carbonyl framework in all the cases. Their trans geometry of the chalcone derivatives was further confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses. Further structural elaboration of the ambident electrophilic α,β unsaturated carbonyl (chalcone) moiety of the indole-chalcones and the analogous benzofuran chalcones with 2-aminothiophenol afforded novel benzothiezapine-appended indole and benzofuran hybrids, respectively. Sonogashira cross-coupling of 5-bromo-2-hydroxy-3 iodoacetophenone with terminal acetylenes followed by heteroannulation of the intermediate 3-alkynylated 5-bromo-2-hydroxyacetophenones afforded the corresponding 7-acetyl-2-aryl-5-bromobenzofurans in a single-pot operation. The oximes derived from the 7-acetyl–substituted 2-aryl-5-bromobenzofurans were subjected to Beckmann rearrangement with triflic acid in acetonitrile under reflux. We isolated the corresponding 7-amino-2-aryl-5 bromobenzofuran derivatives formed from hydrolysis in situ of the intermediate 7-acetamide 2-aryl-5-bromobenzofurans. Amino-dechlorination of the 4-chloroquinazoline derivatives with the 7-aminobenzofurans afforded novel benzofuran 4-aminoquinazoline hybrids. The prepared compounds were characterized using a combination of nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR & 13C-NMR including 19F-NMR), infrared (IR) and mass spectroscopic techniques complemented with single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses and/or density functional (DFT) method. The benzofuran-chalcone 203a–y derivatives were evaluated for anti-growth effect against the breast cancer (MCF-7) cell line by the MTT cell viability assay. Their mode of cancer cell death (apoptosis versus necrosis) was detected by Annexin V-Cy3 SYTOX staining and caspase-3 activation. The most cytotoxic compounds 203i and 203o were also evaluated for potential to inhibit tubulin polymerization and/or epidermal growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase (EGFR-TK) phosphorylation. The experimental results were complemented with theoretical data from molecular docking into ATP binding site of the EGFR and colchicine binding site of tubulin, respectively. The benzofuran–4-aminoquinazoline hybrids 215a–j, on the other hand, were evaluated for antiproliferative propeties in vitro against the human lung cancer (A549), epithelial colorectal adenocarcinoma (Caco-2) and hepatocellular carcinoma (C3A) cell lines. The benzofuran-aminoquinazoline hybrids were also evaluated for potential to induce apoptosis and for their capability to inhibit EGFR-TK phosphorylation complemented with molecular docking (in silico) into the ATP binding site of EGFR. Mechanistic studies demonstrated that the benzofuran-appended aminoquinazoline hybrids 215d and 215j induced apoptosis via activation of caspase-3 pathway. Moreover, compounds 215d and 215j exhibited significant and moderate inhibitory effects against EGFR (IC50 = 29.3 nM and 61.5 nM, respectively) when compared to Gefitinib (IC50 = 33.1 nM). Molecular docking of compounds 215 into EGFR-TK active site suggested that they bind to the region of EGFR like Gefitinib does.
