Abstract:
While most video game players play in moderation and for fun or to relax, a significant minority of players develop problematic or addictive patterns of gaming. Research has indicated that gamers’ motivations for playing differ between addicted and non-addicted gamers. Accordingly, as with other addictions, if clinicians are able to understand the function of the addictive behaviour in the overall context of a client’s life and the motivations that drive the addictive behaviour, they will be better placed to assist the client to overcome the addiction. Motivations for gaming associated with addiction can be summarised as gaming in order to experience meaning and purpose, to experience potency and achievement, to experience community and belonging, to experience escape and emotional regulation, and to experience a stronger sense of identity and self. This article examines each of these motivations in the context of modern gaming and provides clinicians with sample questions to guide an exploration of these motivations when working with clients affected by gaming addiction. Abstract:
There is a need for the compilation of a list of all human psychosocial needs with an accompanying justification for each for several reasons; as knowledge of itself and for itself about our species; for a greater understanding of the socialisation process potentially leading to improved parenting; for more precise descriptions of need and consequences of absence that cause human dysfunction including psychosis among other, thereby enabling more effective research into cause and treatment. This brief theoretical article provides such a list in a figure with a brief explanation for the need of each. There are two figures. Firstly, socialization as a process is depicted, then the second figure is the list of all human psychosocial needs. It contains a rationale for variable inclusion as well as explanation of consequence of privation and as such introduces some innovative and paradigm changing ideas regarding psychosocial need and cause of mental health issues.

AbstractVan de Vliert embraces a “supply side” model of human needs, underplaying a “demand” model whereby individuals, motivated by psychological needs, develop coping strategies that help them meet their personal goals and collectively exert an influence on social and economic systems. Undesirable climates may inflate the value of financial capital, but they also boost the value of social capital.

Abstract:
Modern society exists in conditions of evident contradictions and complex problems. In addition to chronic poverty, ethnic violence, regional war conflicts, the expansion of terrorism and organized crime, we have long faced climate change and environmental degradation. The destruction of ecosystems has become a kind of crisis multiplier, which has deep implications for international peace and stability. In the age of scientific and technological prosperity in the search for answers to old and new security threats, we are also facing a latent moral stumbling on a global level, which is reflected in the phenomenon of “alienation of man from man”, which is the cause of many evils. Addiction diseases, where drug addiction, smoking and alcoholism predominate, dominate among the young population and develop serious diseases with fatal outcomes. It is known that many important aspects of human development also relate to the security of people, who naturally strive for “freedom from fear and freedom from poverty.” Therefore, building and maintaining a security culture, on the one hand, is not a simple process, and on the other hand, it is like any other process that people manage and which involves continuous activities, planning, control and audit. The sentence, “what kind of security culture you have, such is the character of your society”, has gained real meaning in the current time.

Abstract:
This article reviews the need to provide greater human rights protections through Indonesia’s Human Rights Court mechanism. Despite the Court gaining momentum with the emergence of greater democratic freedoms, there is still quite a long way to go before the Court can function in a transparent and accountable way. The opportunity to do this was missed when political interests were put ahead of human rights protections when the legislation creating the Court paid no attention to the investigating and procedural complexities of categories of the crimes falling within the jurisdiction of the Court. Moreover, the lack of protection for victims and witnesses has had an adverse impact on prosecutions. This article recommends that some legislative reform is desirable but legislative reform alone will not bring about the equally important cultural change required to achieve this objective. This transformation can only be achieved by ensuring that all the relevant actors operating within the system are held accountable and required to operate in a professional manner.

Abstract:
Assisted living institutions such as nursing homes were established to answer a vital social need. Such services are needed by the elderly, disabled, and chronically ill. The social demand for these institutions is growing due to a deficit of care functions in families, among other factors. Undoubtedly, assisted living institutions play a vital role by providing help and assistance to less-independent individuals, and for many, they are a chance for survival or a dignified life because they offer food and shelter. However, nursing homes as assisted living institutions are not limited to satisfying the needs of their residents. There is something surprising and worrying about their functioning. To use R.K. Merton's terminology, they operate according to latent functions that maintain social order and social control. To better understand the problem, it is worth looking at Erving Goffman' s popular theory of total institutions and Niklas Luhmann's social systems theory.
