The semantic orientation of terms is fundamental for sentiment analysis in sentence and document levels. Although some Chinese sentiment dictionaries are available, how to predict the orientation of terms automatically is still important. In this paper, we predict the semantic orientation of terms of E-HowNet. We extract many useful features from different sources to represent a Chinese term in E-HowNet, and use a supervised machine learning algorithm to predict its orientation. Our experimental result showed that the proposed approach can achieve 92.33% accuracy, which is comparable to the accuracy of human taggers.

The sentiment vocabularies are the most powerful key point which can influence user’s opinion in commends. It is very time-wasted and costs people lots of efforts to manually make the polarity classification. Besides, it is impossible for us to catch the speed of information produced in the World Wide Web. The thesis proposes an unsupervised method to deal with the problem of the polarity classification. The goal is to analyze the commends in the movie domain, to find the sentiment vocabularies, and to classify them with the polarity. The research consists of two main parts. In the first part, the Chinese syntactic rules are built to find the positions where the sentiment vocabularies may appear. The vocabularies in the positions are collected as the seeds, and then E-HowNet is utilized to expand the sentiment vocabularies. In the second part, the terms in NTUSD are segmented and served as seeds, and E-HowNet is employed subsequently. The terms in NTUSD are used to determine the polarity of the words which can't be classified in the preceding steps. At last, we use the polarity of the class to classify the structural words in E-HowNet. Combining with the two parts, there are 980 sentiment vocabularies chosen as the test data in a man-made fashion. The result shows a good performance of 92.48% accuracy.

This thesis proposed a semi-supervised Chinese word sense disambiguation based on E-HowNet, training word vector into sense vector. Because the lack of Chinese word sense-tagged corpus, we labeled corpus with sense by synonyms we sorted from E-HowNet. We used context words of the target word as information to predict which synonyms is most likely to be here. And label the target word with the corresponding sense of the synonyms. After initial labeling, we trained sense vector via our sense-tagged corpus by word2vec. And we relabel the corpus by the sense vector. We get better result from relabeling, and we retrain the relabeled corpus to get better sense vector. Iterated by relabeling and retraining, we construct a Chinese word sense-tagged corpus and sense vectors.

This thesis aims to explain how to use the use of cross-language to augment the Chinese general knowledge network architecture tree. It is different from the training method that uses parallel corpus training together in the past papers. This paper proposes two methods to convert, They are linear regression and transformation models of neural networks. In addition, in the selection of data, more attention should be paid to the conversion of polysemous words, which will also result in poor conversion. Compared with the past experiments, this thesis will input the words of the polysyllabic phrase provided by English Word Net into the word vector space of the Chinese-English conversion model, and then the database of the previous experiment can be used in the same point. The amount of data under the expansion, which in turn improves the accuracy of multi-label category classification.

The research topic of this paper is motivated based on the observation that when entering the TV advertising time, most of the advertising content is very tedious and lengthy, and no relevant ads for TV content. It results that many viewers will choose to turn to other channels, or busy with some things at hand. This situation will reduce the benefits of advertising firms. Besides, the broadcast of ads needs to use the manpower scheduling, which is time-consuming and laborious. Therefore, this paper hopes to establish an automated script analysis and advertisement recommendation system. This study extracts the important features via mining the scripts. The features are used to build a model with characteristics of high accuracy, so that the recommended advertising can attract the viewers’eyes. It will provide the maximum benefit for the advertised goods. The experimental data of this study come from two sources : the first one of 12 plays is from the Golden Harvest Awards script site script;the second one is from the Wikipedia which contains the introduction of the searched advertised goods. For evaluating the proposed method, an automated way is used. The evaluation target is focused on the script which contains a paragraph degree 4 or 5 stars. Finally, the best advertising is recommended. The study has two main goals : (1) automated computing the emphasis degrees of paragraphs, and (2) recommending the best advertising. In order to calculate the emphasis degrees of paragraphs, this study utilizes the previous related method to automatically identify the focus of the script by analyzing the feature words. The feature words play an important role on the analysis of the emplasis degrees of paragraphs, also called the focus of the scripts. For the best ad recommendation, this study first finds out all the features of word NA from the paragraphs with the emphasis degrees 4 and 5. Then E-HowNet is used to extend the contents of feature words by retrieving the parents and grandparents words, called the extension words. Finally, the collection of feature words and extension words is compared to the paragraphs with 4 and 5 emphasis degrees in order to recommend the suitable advertising for these paragraphs. The recommended ads are provided to the advertisers for their references. The detailed steps and methods will be described in the paper. The experimental results are evaluated by the accuracy metric.

Automatic question generation is an important tool for e-Learning environment. It is also a useful tool for teachers to reduce workload of generating questions. There are some related works discussed the possibility of automatic question generation. From existing literature, it shows that an automatic question generation system can save lots of effort and time for teachers. Moreover, in some special type of test such as cloze test, it can output materials that can be used in real classes. In this paper, we use E-HowNet ontology database to construct a cross-domain automatic question generation system. In order to overcome the coverage limitation of ontology database, we retrieve description from Wikipedia to cover the missing words of E-HowNet ontology. This paper focuses on generating multiple-choice questions. We use machine learning based methods to decide which kinds of sentences contain factual knowledge. After identifying the suitable sentences, we apply machine learning methods again to identify which word phrases are suitable to become blank parts. Then, we use the semantic definitions of ontology database to choose close but not the same meaning words to become distractors. If we cannot find the words of blank parts, then we try to retrieve their description and also other existing ontology words from Wikipedia. By applying an unsupervised clustering method, we can discover the relationship between the missing words and those existing words. Therefore, we can use the relationship and combine the missing words with existing ontology database to help us retrieve suitable distractors. Because each question have only one correct answer, we need to verify whether other distractors could be the correct answer or not. If yes, then we should discard it and find another one. We retrieve the number of Google search results of the sentence which fills the correct answer back to the original sentence. Then, compare it with other distractors’ Google search results. If the number of results of a distractor exceeds a certain threshold or has the approximate number results to the number of the correct answer, we will assume it has a higher possibility that also could be a correct answer. If that is the case, we will discard it and choose another one. Finally, we conduct a user study to analyze the usability of our results. We invite some people to evaluate our system. The evaluation result indicates that our prototype system is feasible to generate multiple choice questions in 70.4% acceptable rate.

My Class, My Story─ A Narrative Inquiry of How an Elementary School Teacher Shapes Her Classroom Climate Abstract This inquiry represents the way how I and teacher Hwa-Hwa become aware of the details and how we put into practice our practical teaching knowledge throughout the narrative inquiry. By using the continuance of investigation and looking back toward our practical teaching knowledge, we would like to know how to use our own knowledge more efficiently, how to integrate with personal style, how to construct an appropriate and efficient framework of practical teaching knowledge to work with, and how to establish the nature of principle. We’ve made a journey for our professional identity. The findings and suggestions: 1. Through teacher Hwa-hwa’s practical knowledge, we can tell that there is a consistence between her attitude and behavior toward her teaching life, her personal philosophy, and values. One’s knowledge is formulated by various experiences of life. Through the teacher’s thinking process, conducting some actions, and revising it, the knowledge could become the logical resource of conjecture in our intra-consciousness. Each teacher’s vivid image and metaphor, form the knowledge of our own, also have affected how teacher Hwa-hwa make her choices and conduct them in the complicated classroom situations. The complicated and various resources construct and shape the personal practical teaching knowledge of teacher Hwa-hwa. Moreover, the results by using teacher''s practical knowledge again become one of teacher''s personal life experiences. It enters the circle of conducting the practical knowledge, and enriches, shapes, deepens, and extends teacher''s personal practical knowledge. In the process of life cycle, teacher Hwa-hwa’s personal philosophy and value are constantly resented, revealed, and shuttled in the patrol cycle of her own personal practical knowledge. In the meantime, it shows her affections in every single interaction between teacher and students in her personal life, in her practical teaching, and in the school life. 2. In the perspective of how teacher Hwa-hwa shapes the class climate of her classroom by using her practical knowledge, we can see that she has “a post-modern perspective on curriculum”. By using a huge number of "dialogues" and "narratives" to associate with each member in her class, and using various kinds of learning activities to help students act out their attitude and emotions, she created a culture mode and a sense of identification, which particularly belong to teacher and all students of grade 5 classes 1. 3.While I participated into the narrative inquiry, I became a part of it. Teacher Hwa-hwa and I have the chance to slip out from the ongoing and cycling automatic mechanism and to see through the intra-mechanism at work in various angles. By investigating the effect of every detail and rethinking the deeper meanings underneath every single process, we can observe the possibility of reestablishing and reconstructing, and also the relations between culture and social structure and personal practical knowledge, and the conflicts and differences between them. we hope that teachers can understand more the factors and images behind their teaching actions through their own stories. This narrative inquiry is in the core of teacher''s view and it emphasizes daily dialogues. It could be the reference of teacher education and teacher development in the future. Furthermore, We hope that more researchers can join narrative inquiry in order to accumulate more practical cases and information for establishing the frame of domestic instructional theory.
