Abstract:
AbstractIntroduction. High-category hotels are considered to be one of the most important elements of every tourist destination’s supply. Recently, the lack of highly rated hotels in the Republic of Croatia has often been criticized by the public because they are believed to be a prerequisite in the creation of a competitive tourist offer.Material and methods. The authors have performed a multi-criteria decision analysis of eight companies owning five-star hotels in Primorsko-Goranska County using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. Their business performance was evaluated based on both financial and market criteria. The financial criteria encompassed indicators of liquidity, indebtedness, activity and profitability. Data regarding the market indicators were collected using a questionnaire.Results. The importance of market criteria in the tourism industry is visible in tourist demand, which is founded on the perception of potential hotel guests, their recognition of the brand and thus the market potential of the hotels themselves. Therefore, both the financial and market aspect have been included in the Analytic Hierarchy Process analysis and synthesized to estimate the overall priority based on which the hotels were ranked. According to all criteria and sub-criteria, the best ranked hotel company is Eles Turizam j.d.o.o with its five-star hotel Mozart (0.2540), followed by Milenij hotels d.o.o. with its Milenij and Milenij Sveti Jakov. The third place has been assigned to Liburnija Rivijera Hoteli d.o.o. and its Ambasador.Conclusions. All but one of the analyzed five-star hotels are under the ownership of the biggest hotel companies in PGŽ with a long presence in the tourism industry. Therefore, it was expected that, due to their market recognizability and, consequently, their good financial performance, they would rank first. However, the research has shown that market potential does not necessarily imply best practices. Eles Turizam and its hotel Mozart were ranked the highest according to financial and overall priority scores. It may thus be concluded that even a small family hotel company with reduced marketing costs, especially one with an elite tourist offer, can compete with big hotel companies if it continuously assures the quality of its services.

Abstract:
At the time it was built, Hotel Majestic set the standards for elite hotels and for a high level of hotel management services in Serbia. Its owner, also the designer of the hotel, Milan Minić, fully carried out his intention for his hotel to stand out from other hotels, and become an elite and fashionable meeting place in Belgrade and in global high society. The building is a combination of architecture, fine and applied arts, and at the same time it represents high standards in design, construction and interior design, which makes it a significant authorial achievement of Belgrade's interwar architecture. The aim of this research was to analyze the architectural, urban, artistic and other characteristics of the Hotel Majestic building, in order to re-examine the view that Hotel Majestic was the forerunner of modern boutique hotels, and thus decades ahead of its time. Many authors have written about the characteristics of boutique hotels; however, the definition of the concept still remains vague. By comparative analysis of the available literature and by summarizing the results of this research, it can be concluded that Hotel Majestic fully meets all relevant criteria by which a boutique hotel can be recognized. The contribution of this research in the theoretical sense is reflected in the analysis and systematization of the most important interpretations of the concept of boutique hotels, as well as their basic characteristics. In the historiographical sense, the research provides a new insight into the so far unexplored area of boutique hotels in Serbia. Guidelines for further research could be directed towards discovering new examples of boutique hotels, as well as clarifying their definition and introducing them into legal regulations.

Abstract:
Hotel service is a complex process that can be considered from different aspects. New technologies are constantly entering the hotel service. "Smart hotels" are the wonder of the 21st century. The smartphone is becoming the main asset in the hotel. With it we control everything - we open our rooms, book various services, etc. Virtual and augmented reality are one of the main trends in the hotel industry. The possibilities of such technologies are endless. They can be used during the booking process, but mostly during the guest's stay at the hotel. Another important topic here is the sustainable development of tourism. More and more hotels are betting on the eco trend by using eco products and recycling materials and resources. This saves energy costs, which overall improves business results.

Abstract:
In the decades following the war, the spread of international luxury chain hotels was instrumental in shaping the global image of modernity. It was not simply the export of modernist architecture as a style, but rather a process which brought about an overall transformation of the industry and culture surrounding modern domesticity. For Adelaide, well before the arrival of large brand hotel chains like Hilton and Hyatt, this process was initiated by the construction of its first international style hotel in 1960 – Australia Hotel. The proposed paper traces the history of this structure and its impact not only on local design and construction industries but also on domestic culture and lifestyle after the shadow period of recovery after the war. This paper looks at three specific enduring legacies of this structure that went well beyond the modernist aesthetics employed by its original designers, the local firm of Lucas, Parker and Partners. The hotel was one of the first to employ the new technology of lift-slab construction and was recognised by the Head of Architecture at the University of Adelaide, Professor Jensen, as the outstanding building of 1960. It is argued that it was the engagement with such technological and process innovations that has allowed the building to endure through several renovation attempts. In her study of Hilton International hotels, Annabelle Wharton argues how architecture was used for America’s expansion to global economic and political power. Following on from her arguments, this paper explores the implications of the acquisition of the Australia Hotel by the Indian hotel chain Oberoi Hotels in the late 1970s when it became Oberoi Adelaide. The patronage of Indian hotelier Mohan Singh Oberoi came alongside the parallel acquisition of Hotel Windsor in Melbourne, heralding a new era of engagement with Asia. Finally, the paper also highlights the broader impact of this hotel, as a leisure venue for the burgeoning middle class, on the evolving domestic culture of Adelaide.

Abstract:
Suvremeni turistički trendovi svim destinacijama nameću potrebu za okretanjem ka zelenom turizmu, a turisti svojim ponašanjem i sami sudjeluju u stvaranju takvog oblika turizma u nekoj destinaciji.

Abstract:
With the rapid expansion of the internet corporate websites are becoming an important tool of communication with target markets. The target markets of the hotels go beyond the borders of the country and can be anywhere in the world. Effective use of the corporate web sites is an important factor that affects the success of hotel enterprises in the competitive environment. In this context, the main purpose of this study is to evaluate hotels’ web sites in Bishkek and to reveal the situation in terms of characteristics that should be in their web pages. A total of 30 hotel websites have been reviewed. Data was obtained from hotel web sites using an evaluation form. Percentage and frequency techniques were applied to analyze the data and results are given by hotel types (three or four stars). According to the results, it was found that hotels’ web sites are not sufficient in terms of required features and both three and four star hotels demonstrate same performance. In particular, it can be said that the hotel web sites are very poor in terms of information about the destination. Hotels should benefit from the results of academic studies and, if necessary, to conduct their own researches in order to have an effective web sites.

Abstract:
Ever since the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic in early 2020, it has had an impact on all industries globally, especially the tourism and hotel sector. China’s hotel industry was one of the first to experience the challenge related to COVID-19. However, due to early interventions, Chinese hotels are on a faster recovery route than many other global markets. This study examined the relationship between customers' perception of COVID-19 and factors that affect hotel service quality. Through a Chinese online crowdsourcing platform, this study obtained 429 samples from participants who stayed in hotels before and during the pandemic. This study aims to serve as a reference for hotel service innovation and guide hotel managers on how to improve customer experience in the post-pandemic era.

Abstract:
Purpose - From its foundation until today, Valamar Riviera hotels are one of the leaders in the Croatian hotel industry. Their strong positioning on the market is recognized throughout Europe, and this is particularly visible through the high ratings of former guests on social networks. Online reviews have become an excellent source for capturing the entire experience, which is why potential guests looking for accommodation are increasingly inclined to search platforms such as Tripadvisor for past experiences of previous guests. Based on the above, the purpose of this research was to gain insight into the factors that influence the overall experience of the guests of the Valamar Riviera Hotel. Methodology - For the purpose of this research, online reviews of three Dubrovnik’s Valamar Riviera hotels were analyzed. Online reviews were scraped from the Tripadvisor platform with the help of the ParseHub software for the period from January 1, 2020 to July 1, 2022, after which a sentimental analysis was performed on a sample of 261 online reviews. Based on the results of the sentimental analysis according to factors and connotation, a cause-and-effect diagram was created. Findings - Obtained empirical results indicate that positive comments from former hotel guests are leading for all three samples. Such results were expected; given that these are hotels that won the Tripadvisor Excellence Award. Former guests of Dubrovnik’s Valamar Riviera hotels who wrote online reviews on Tripadvisor about their experience staying at the hotel are mostly women from abroad. Through the sentiment analysis, “Housekeeping” was determined as the most important factor of the overall hotel experience. On the other hand, the largest share of negative particles was determined for the „Other hotel services“, therefore this factor has the greatest negative impact on the eWoM of hotel guests. Contribution - This research contributes to reducing the existing gaps in the literature on hotel experience, by identifying factors that have a negative impact on the eWoM of hotel guests. The findings of this study also provide practical implications based on which hoteliers can improve their strengths and weaknesses in the existing elements of the hotel offer.

Abstract:
Purpose - The dynamic globalisation processes and the processes of tourism and hospitality business development put ever increasing challenges before hoteliers. The COVID-19 pandemic has called for hotel guests’ new routines and expectations. The combination of work and holiday is taking hold, especially since the pandemic changed work methods which have become more f lexible. Remote work has enabled people to travel and conduct their business activities; therefore, a new word explaining this new concept is forged; workspitality (abbreviation of words work + hospitality). The purpose of this paper is to show in what measure hotel companies, given the guests’ new routines and expectations, have adapted their offer to their guests’ new requirements. By consideration of the tourists’ requirements, a new specific trend has been identified, which presumes stays in hotels away from home, with pursuit of business activities. The aim of this paper is to research the hotels’ preparedness to offer workspaces as an element of their offer during tourists’ stays in the hotels, combining work and leisure activities. Methodology – includes qualitative and quantitative analyses of the potential of affirmation of the new accommodation concept in hotels. The paper analyses aspects which affect the positioning of remote workplaces as a part of hotel offer, given the tourists’ new routines and expectations. The research was conducted using a survey questionnaire on a sample of hotel managers of small hotels, medium-sized and large sized hotels. The questionnaire contained Likert scale 1-5 research and open-ended questions which explored in depth the attitudes by combining them coded by statistical methods with qualitative research where the results were obtained via open ended questions. The methodology, supported by creative thinking techniques, included desktop meta research and impacted the formation of conclusions which point to new scientific knowledge. Findings – The research results point towards scientific and practical comprehension of hotel offer organisation and innovativeness. The research results influence the formation of scientific knowledge in the area of hotel offer organisation, as well as on the identification of its key elements. Space organisation and Internet communication technologies – ICT services in hotels, by which remote work with simultaneous use of accommodation services and leisure activities would be enabled for tourists, present a prerequisite for new offers. The findings indicate that this new concept produces higher price levels, affirm new market niches and prolong the tourism season. Contribution – The paper represents a valuable contribution to the comprehension of the organisation and innovation of a competitive hotel offer. The possibility of remote work enables tourists to stay in a hotel on holiday and take advantage of a wide choice of recreational facilities. Remote work has become commonplace for many employees, and it is predicted that it will become more than a passing trend. The goal was to understand changes in the guest hotel accommodation affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and to examine the attitudes and the resulting hotel managers’ answers in the segment of organisation of services for remote work. The research results, as well as the acquired knowledge, could influence the perception of the hotel management about the importance of adaptation of the hotel offer to new expectations of hotel guests, and to its organisation. Namely, it could influence the new strategic decisions related to the investments and innovations in accommodation structure design. The contribution is reflected in raising awareness and bridging the gap between theory and practice of innovative accommodation organisation which impacts competitiveness.

Abstract:
Hotel chains are major actors in the hospitality industry. Still, many hoteliers have not decided yet whether to join their properties to a chain or stay independent. The paper explores how the managers of Bulgarian independent hotels perceive hotel chains as a development opportunity. More specifically it evaluated their opinions about the advantages of chain affiliated and of independent hotels, the suitability of the various types of affiliation for the Bulgarian hotel market, the factors that influence on hoteliers' decision to choose a type of affiliation, the preferred attributes of the chain, and the hotel attributes preferred by the chains. Furthermore, the paper compares the current findings with the results of a previous study, implemented in 2012, and identifies how the opinion of hoteliers changed over time.

Abstract:
This study focuses on the Australian hotel organisation and their organisational resilience (O.R.) during the Covid-19 pandemic. Its objectives are to leverage the “Hotel Resilience model” developed by MeliánAlzola et al. (2020) and the Benchmark Resilience Tool to gain indications of the level of O.R of the Australian hotel sector, to determine the relationship between the hotel O.R. indicators and the financial outcomes and to document O.R. related tactics and strategies implemented in the Australian hotel industry during the Global pandemic. By adopting a qualitative research approach using experts’ interviews with 10 hotels general or operations managers, the study found that there was no formal awareness of or adoption of formal O.R. frameworks within the participating hotels nor was there any indication of an appetite for the implementation of any O.R. frameworks, also as a result of lack of data, the study was unable to determine a link between O.R. indicators and financial outcomes.
