Abstract:

Människor är i behov av hopp under helalivstiden och ett liv utan hopp kan ses sommeningslöst. Hopp är ett mångdimensionellt,komplext begrepp som förändras över tiden ochblir särskilt märkbart vid sjukdom. Syftet var attbelysa upplevelsen av hopp hos patienter. Studiengenomfördes som en litteraturstudie där resultatetutgjordes av elva vetenskapliga artiklar. Känslorsom oro, rädsla kunde bli märkbara vid sjukdomoch känslor av hopplöshet dominerade. Hoppetansågs vara framåtdrivande och gav motivationatt kämpa vidare. Anhörigas stöd var viktigt föratt känna värde och stödet inifrån varbetydelsefullt för att finna hoppet.Sjuksköterskans inbringade hopp genom närvaro,aktivt lyssnande och uppmuntrande handlingar.Hopp var något som fanns inom varje patient ochupplevdes på liknande sätt oberoende avsjukdom. Det är av stor betydelse att belysa hoppi sjuksköterskeutbildningen, metoder för attinbringa hopp bör utvecklas och användas iklinisk verksamhet.

Abstract:

In today’s world data is extremely valuable. Companies and researchers store every sort of data, from users activities to medical records. However, data is useless if one cannot extract meaning and insight from it. In 2004 Dean and Ghemawat introduced the MapReduce framework. This sparked the development of open source frameworks for big data storage (HDFS) and processing (Hadoop). Hops and Apache Hive build on top of this heritage. The former proposes a new distributed file system which achieves higher scalability and throughput by storing metadata in a database called MySQL-Cluster. The latter is an open source data warehousing solution built on top of the Hadoop ecosystems, which allows users to query big data stored on HDFS using a SQL-like query language.Apache Hive is a widely used and mature project, however it lacks of consistency between the data stored on the file system and the metadata describing it, stored on a relational database. This means that if users delete Hive’s data from the file system, Hive does not delete the related metadata. This causes two issues: (1) users do not get an error if the data is missing from the filesystem (2) if users forget to delete the metadata, it will become orphaned in the database. In this thesis we exploit the fact that both HopsFS’ metadata and Hive’s metadata is stored in a relational database, to provide a mechanisms to automatically delete Hive’s metadata if the data is delete from the file system.The second objective of this thesis is to integrate Apache Hive into the Hops ecosystem and in particular in the HopsWorks platform. HopsWorks is a multitenant, UI based service which allows users to store and process big data projects. In this thesis we develop a custom authenticator for Hive to allow HopsWorks users to authenticate with Hive and to integrate with its security model.

Abstract:

YARN is the resource management framework for Hadoop, and is, in many senses, the modern operating system for the data center. YARN clusters are running at organizations such as Yahoo!, Spotify, and Twitter with clusters of up to 3500 nodes being reported in the literature. To harness the power of so many nodes and manage them efficiently YARN is required to fulfill the requirements like scalability, serviceability, multitenancy, reliability, high cluster utilization, secure and auditable operation. Currently, YARN supports three different schedulers for prioritizing the allocation of resources (CPU, memory) to applications. Existing schedulers have a broken incentive model for popular frameworks like Apache Spark and Apache Flink where applications have gang-scheduling semantics, that is, they need all nodes to be available before they can start work. Users are incentivized to launch and hog their resources, as there may be a substantial delay (in Spotify, up to 1 hour) in getting 100 or more nodes allocated to your application. Users are not penalized for hogging resources. Capacity scheduler is one of the schedulers that has been used as a default scheduler in YARN which is quite good in sharing resources among tenants with a degree of guaranteed resource availability. Still there is room for improvements. In this thesis, we propose the design and implementation of a new system called Quota-based access control system that will work as a layer over capacity scheduler for Hops-YARN, a project developed on Apache YARN. Quota-based access control system involves allocating a quota of resources to projects. A project consists of a number of users who manage a number of data sets and is taken from a new frontend for Hadoop called HopsWorks, (www.hops.io). Project members can spend part of their quota to launch and run applications. In contrast to existing schedulers, our control system will incentivize users for not launching unnecessary applications or hog resources. In this work we also have analyzed the operational model of the scheduler including Quota-based access control system with different application scheduling scenarios. We also have investigated the failure scenarios which includes network partition and failure of different components of YARN and analyzed the consequence of the failure on the scheduling operation. Finally, we have proposed some future improvements for this scheduling system.

Abstract:

Detta är en studie om hur det är att studera på Högskolan i Halmstad när man har någon form av funktionsnedsättning. Vi har i denna studie tittat på hur deras funktionsnedsättning har påverkat deras liv allt ifrån när de fick sina diagnoser tills det att de började studera. Vi har även velat få fram hur deras funktionsnedsättning har påverkat deras studier i den bemärkelse att dem har fått stöd och olika hjälpmedel för att klara av dessa. I denna studie så har vi också tagit reda på hur mycket tid och energi som studenterna får lägga ner på sitt skolarbete, men också hur allt detta har påverkat deras sociala tillvaro i och utanför skolan. Vi har även försökt ta fasta på vad studenterna upplever som problematiskt under sin studietid, och tittat på om deras funktionsnedsättning varit en orsakande faktor i detta.

Abstract:

Bakgrund: Patienter som vårdas palliativt behöver hopp för att klara av att leva den tid de har kvar. Sjuksköterskans omvårdnad av patienter som vårdas palliativt är förbundet med patienters upplevelse av hopp. I svensk kontext har det sedan 1998 inte publicerats någon studie som visar resultat angående hur sjuksköterskor gör för att förmedla hopp till patienter som vårdas palliativt.Syfte: Syftet med föreliggande studie var att belysa hur sjuksköterskor i Sverige förmedlar hopp till patienter som vårdas palliativt.Metod: En kvalitativ empirisk induktiv studie genomfördes. Åtta sjuksköterskor som arbetade på palliativ vårdavdelning eller Avancerad Sjukvård i Hemmet-enheter (ASIH) intervjuades. Intervjuerna analyserades med inspiration av Graneheim & Lundmans kvalitativa innehållsanalys (2004). Resultat: Studien visar att sjuksköterskorna omriktar hoppet, tillåter det otroliga hoppet, bygger relationer, samtalar, hjälper praktiskt, symtomhanterar medicinskt, berör fysiskt och involvera andra för att förmedla hopp till patienter som vårdas palliativt. Resultatet presenteras som kategorier och subkategorier, där kategorierna utgör ovanstånde begrepp.Konklusion: Studien visar särskilt att sjuksköterskorna omriktar hoppet samt tillåter det otroliga hoppet för att förmedla hopp till patienter som vårdas palliativt. Studien visar även på spänningen mellan dessa båda kategorier.
Background: Patients in palliative care are in need of hope to be able to live during the time left for them. The nursing care of patients in palliative care is connected to the patient’s experience of hope. In a Swedish context it has not been published any study since 1998, concerning how nurses do to mediate hope to patients in palliative care.Aim: The aim of this study was to elucidate how nurses in Sweden mediate hope to patients in palliative care.Method: A qualitative empirical inductive study was conducted. Eight nurses working in a palliative care-unit or a palliative home care-unit (ASIH) were interviewed. The interviews were analyzed with inspiration of Graneheim & Lundman´s qualitative content analysis (2004).Results: The study shows that nurses redirect the hope, permit the incredible hope, build relationships, help with practicalities, handle symptoms medically, touch physically and involve others to mediate hope to patients in palliative care. The result is presented in categories and subcategories, where the categories constitute above-mentioned concepts.Conclusion: The study especially shows that nurses redirect the hope and permit the incredible hope to mediate hope to patients in palliative care. The study also shows a tension between these two categories.

Abstract:

Användningen av Internet of Things inom sport är svår att hitta forskning om, inte minst i samband med ridsport. Kandidatarbetet forskar kring problemen vid användning av Internet of Things och hur man implementerar system på bästa sätt. Jag utvecklar en prototyp vars syfte är att underlätta hästhoppning genom att automatisera hästhinder då deltagande observation avslöjade problemen ryttare möter vid hoppträning. Vid varje rivning tvingas ryttaren hoppa ner från hästen och resa bommen, någonting som ödslar tid och energi, men inte minst påverkar hästens rygg. Med hjälp av Internet of Things, context mapping, deltagande observation och design utvecklade jag en produkt som underlättar och effektiviserar hoppträning och tävling. Tillsammans med ryttarna i stallet och i diskussioner har vi fokuserat på att designen är säkerhetsanpassad och att produkten fokuserar på det ryttarna själv anser är viktigt. Med teknikerna raspberry pi, stegmotordrivare och en stegmotor kan ryttaren styra hästhindret direkt från hästryggen och därmed underlätta träningen.
Usage of Internet of Things in relation to sports is a hard subject to find research about, especially with a connection to equestrian sports. This bachelor thesis researches the problems you face when developing Internet of Things and how to implement systems efficiently. I’ve developed a prototype whose purpose is to facilitate showjumping by automating a horse jumping obstacle since participatory observations revealed problems riders face when practicing showjumping. Every time the horse knocks down the bar the rider must jump off the horse and lift the bar up, wasting time and energy, but also with a risk of hurting the horse’s back. By using Internet of Things, context mapping, participatory observations and design I developed a product that facilitate showjump practice and competition. Together with equestrians in the stable and in discussions we’ve focused on making the design safe for the horses and riders, and that the product focuses on what equestrians believe is important. Through the usage of a Rapsberry pi 3, a stepper motor driver and a stepper motor the rider can control the horse jumping obstacle directly from the horse back and thus facilitating the practice.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to investigate if pedagogues treat children differently, depending on the children's sex. In the study, interviews are made with pre-school pedagogues about their thoughts on gender education in pre-school. The research questions are as follows: How do the pedagogues treat children depending on their sex in some pre-selected situations in pre-school? What do the pedagogues think about gender education in pre-school? How do their reasoning about gender education differ from how they treat girls and boys in their every day practice? In total nine observations and six interviews have been made in order to analyse these questions. During the observations we wrote down keywords, and we used audio recording to record the interviews. The overall theoretical framework is based on Yvonne Hirdman's work on gender theory. The results of this study show, that the pedagogues on numerous occasions do not treat girls and boys equally. All pedagogues, however, say that they either treat girls and boys equally, or that they hope that they treat girls and boys equally. A conclusion in the study is that the reality of the pedagogues’ treatment of children of different sexes, is not compatible with the pedagogues’ perspective of how they treat the children

Abstract:

Bakgrund: Palliativ vård innebär att ge vård till patienter med en obotlig sjukdom samt tillstånd där patienten inte förväntas att överleva sjukdomen eller tillståndet. Hopp är viktigt att eftersträva inom den palliativa vården, där sjuksköterskan har en betydande roll. Det är svårt att förmedla hopp till svårt sjuka patienter, och därför är kunskapen om hur det kan förmedlas viktig. Syfte: Att beskriva hur sjuksköterskor förmedlar hopp till patienter i livets slutskede. Metod: En innehållsanalys gjordes där en kvantitativ och åtta kvalitativa vetenskapliga artiklar granskades. Resultat: De nio vetenskapliga artiklar som granskades resulterade i en kategori; kommunikation i palliativ vård med tre subkategorier; kommunikation om fokus på livet, sjuksköterskans närvaro vid kommunikation och kommunikation om döden. Slutsats: Resultatet i studien visar att kommunikation med patienter angående döden var en svårighet för sjuksköterskor. Där rädsla för att patienten skulle förlora hoppet helt är en stor del till varför sjuksköterskor valde att undvika att tala om döden. När sjuksköterskor har vågat bemöta patienten i fråga om döden påvisade detta positiva effekter hos patienten då de hade uppnått en acceptans av den obotliga sjukdomen och hade på så vis kunnat behålla hoppet. Studien påvisar vikten av att sjuksköterskor vågar kommunicera med patienten om döden.
Background: The definition of palliative care is to give treatment to patients with incurable disease when the patient is not expected to survive the disease. Hope is important to strive for in palliative care, where the nurse has a significant role. It is difficult to convey hope to critically ill patients, and therefore the knowledge of how it can be conveyed is important. Aim: To describe how nurses can convey hope to patients in palliative care. Method: A content analysis was made where nine scientific articles were audited. Results: The nine scientific articles that were audited resulted in one category; communication in palliative care with three subcategories; communication about focus in life, nurse’s presence when communicating and communication about death. Conclusion: The results of this study indicated that communication with patients about death was a difficulty for nurses. Where fear of patient losing their hope was a big part of why nurses choose to avoid talking about death. When nurses have had the courage to talk about death with the patient it has shown positive effects within the patient where they have reached an acceptance of the incurable disease and they have been able to keep their hope. The study has shown how important it is that nurses dare to communicate with patients about death.

Abstract:

FC Rosengård driver Framtidsprojektet som en del i sitt integrationsskapande arbete. Projektet följer två klasser från Rosengårdsskolan från sjunde klass till första året på gymnasiet, där meningen med projektet är att vara förberedande inför gymnasieval, förberedande inför yrkesval, att ge en inblick i föreningslivet och att ge deltagarna en meningsfull fritidssysselsättning.Syftet med denna uppsats är att skapa en förståelse för hur de delaktiga inom projektet upplever Framtidsprojektet och vilken utveckling av deltagarna som anses ske. Resultaten visar att respondenterna inte upplever Framtidsprojektet som ett integrationsprojekt utan som ett skolprojekt som skulle kunna drivas på vilken skola som helst. Det finns dock anledningar till att detta stöd behövs mer på Rosengårdskolan än andra skolor. Många elever beskrivs inte ha förstått skol – eller betygsystem och många anses sakna vuxenstöd utanför skolan gällande sin skolgång. Projektet bygger på en röd tråd, där deltagare genom att välja intresseområden skall få information om olika gymnasieskolor och program, för att sedan prova på olika yrken genom praktik på arbetsplatser. Denna röda tråd har bland annat lett till att deltagare har fått en större förståelse för hur högstadieskola, gymnasieskola och yrkesliv hör ihop. Deltagare menar att de främst har utvecklats genom att ha fått möjligheten att prova olika yrken och därmed inte bara funnit intressanta yrken inför framtiden utan även fått insikter i vilka yrkesområden de inte vill arbeta inom. Genom att kunna sortera bort olika yrken kan de istället koncentrera sig på relevanta områden. Några deltagare anser även att projektet har fått dem mer intresserade av skolan och att de nu lägger ner mer tid på sina skolarbeten. Abstract:

Apache Kafka is a distributed, high throughput and fault-tolerant publish/subscribe messaging system in the Hadoop ecosystem. It is used as a distributed data streaming and processing platform. Kafka topics are the units of message feeds in the Kafka cluster. Kafka producer publishes messages into these topics and a Kafka consumer subscribes to topics to pull those messages. With the increased usage of Kafka in the data infrastructure of many companies, there are many Kafka clients that publish and consume messages to/from the Kafka topics. In fact, these client operations can be malicious. To mitigate this risk, clients must authenticate themselves and their operation must be authorized before they can access to a given topic. Nowadays, Kafka ships with a pluggable Authorizer interface to implement access control list (ACL) based authorization for client operation. Kafka users can implement the interface differently to satisfy their security requirements. SimpleACLAuthorizer is the out-of-box implementation of the interface and uses a Zookeeper for ACLs storage.HopsWorks, based on Hops a next generation Hadoop distribution, provides support for project-based multi-tenancy, where projects are fully isolated at the level of the Hadoop Filesystem and YARN. In this project, we added Kafka topicbased multi-tenancy in Hops projects. Kafka topic is created from inside Hops project and persisted both at the Zookeeper and the NDBCluster. Persisting a topic into a database enabled us for topic sharing across projects. ACLs are added to Kafka topics and are persisted only into the database. Client access to Kafka topics is authorized based on these ACLs. ACLs are added, updated, listed and/or removed from the HopsWorks WebUI. HopsACLAuthorizer, a Hops implementation of the Authorizer interface, authorizes Kafka client operations using the ACLs in the database. The Apache Avro schema registry for topics enabled the producer and consumer to better integrate by transferring a preestablished message format. The result of this project is the first Hadoop distribution that supports Kafka multi-tenancy.

Abstract:

Syftet med detta arbete är att ta del av hur nyutbildade lärare erfarit sin första tid i yrket. Jag har också varit intresserad av att synliggöra om de nya lärarna är nöjda med den introduktion de fått och om de fått något mentorsstöd. Lärarutbildningens nytta i deras arbete är en annan aspekt som studeras.I arbetet har jag valt att använda mig av två metoder, dels en litteraturstudie och dels en kvalitativ intervjustudie av sex nyutbildade lärare. Denna studie sträcker sig över ett brett spann då deltagarna arbetat allt från tre månader till tre och ett halvt år. Resultatet visar att de flesta lärare i intervjustudien har upplevt det första året som mycket påfrestande. Men redan i slutet av den andra terminen har situationen förbättrats och de har känt sig tryggare i sin lärarroll. Dåhar de lärt känna eleverna, kollegerna och lokalerna samt upplevt en större säkerhet i undervisningen.

Background. While the provision of respite care is a well-known strategy for supporting caregivers of persons with dementia (PWD), it is still unclear what influences its use by caregivers. Objective. To explore respite care use through the lens of a hopes and expectations framework. Methods. Six caregivers of PWD took part in one semi-structured interview. A phenomenological approach to data collection and analysis was employed. Results. The data showed that caregivers still felt burdened despite utilizing respite care. Hopes and expectations for the PWD tended to converge for all caregivers, yet diverged depending whether they were considering impact on themselves or the PWD, and whether they had used respite care or not. Conclusion. Preliminary data suggests that respite care services may need to focus more on helping caregivers. The framework of hopes and expectations is useful for exploring the use or non-use of respite.

This dissertation contains a detailed report on the results of a research project on the behaviour of a dynamical system consisting of a hoop to which a heavy particle is fixed at the rim. This loaded hoop rolls on a rough surface while remaining in the vertical plane. The motion of the hoop consists of various, possibly alternating, phases consisting of rolling without slipping, spinning or skidding motion and in some cases ends by hopping off the surface. A general mathematical model is developed, consisting of a system of second order ordinary differential equations, one for each of the three degrees of freedom. Analytic solutions are obtained in some cases; otherwise numerical solutions are used. Three specific applications of the general model are dealt with. In the first application the problem of massless hoops is investigated. The main emphasis is on the somewhat controversial question of what happens after the normal reaction becomes zero in a position where the particle is still moving downwards. A new result shows that the hoop can continue to move horizontally in a motion defined as skimming. The second application deals with rigid hoops and a large number of detailed results are presented. Classification schemes for the different types of behaviour are introduced and summarised in the form of phase diagrams. Some emphasis is placed on the rather amazing number of different patterns of motion that can be obtained by varying the parameters. In the third application two elastic models are analysed, with the primary purpose of explaining one aspect of the reported behaviour of experimental hoops, namely hopping while the particle is moving downwards. A chapter on experimental models rounds off the project.

Abstract:

Det övergripande syftet i denna uppsats har varit att undersöka hur författare på 2010-talet från en ekumenisk huvudfåra i Sverige och Sydafrika förmedlar hopp till sina läsare. Utifrån två delvis kompletterande teorier om kristet hopp har jag format en teoretisk modell om ansvarsfullt hopp som tillsammans med frågeställningar utgjort ett analysredskap i läsningen av mitt källmaterial. Källmaterialet har utgjorts av uppbyggelselitteratur skriven av fyra författare, i Sverige respektive Sydafrika. Studiens frågeställningar var: på vilka sätt beskriver författarna hopp, vilka praktiker av hopp förordas, hur förhåller sig författarna till utmaningar i sina respektive kontexter? Baserat på tron på Jesus uppståndelse så utgör hoppet en kärna i kristen tro. Många teologer, ekumeniska organisationer och kyrkliga företrädare har mot bakgrund av detta skrivit om kristet hopp. Många har även betonat betydelsen av kristet hopp i att möta samtida utmaningar. Vissa anser till och med att det kristna hoppet är nödvändigt för att möta dessa svårigheter. Min studies viktigaste bidrag har varit att kasta ljus över hur detta kristna hopp förmedlas i praktiken. I min studie har jag inspirerat till interkulturell teologi genom att jag utforskat olika sätt att förmedla kristet hopp i olika kulturella kontexter, jag har resonerat kring globala utmaningar såväl som svårigheter inom länder och satt kontextuell teologi om hopp i dialog med andra tolkningar av hopp. Jag har funnit att författarnas delvis kontextbundna, delvis gemensamma sätt att förmedla kristet hopp i uppbyggelselitteratur kan inspirera till interkulturell teologi om kristet hopp som svarar an på samtida gemensamma utmaningar. Min studie har därmed bidragit med ny teologisk forskning och kompletterar även forskning inom andra akademiska discipliner om hopp. Studien har dessutom bidragit till utvecklingen av en interkulturell teori om kristet hopp, som förhoppningsvis kan utgöra underlag för fortsatta studier.

Abstract:

This thesis explores how hope in relation to the threats to the earth’s biosphere can be formulated theologically. The starting-point is a questioning of hope raised by the French sociologist and anthropologist Bruno Latour. In Facing Gaia. Eight Lectures on the New Climatic Regime (2015) he asks why so little has happened to reduce the emissions of CO2. Parts of his answers relate to the view that hope is preventing action. Since hope is a central part of Christian doctrine, this study lets Latours scepticism meet some eco-theological litterature, mainly representing evangelical, orthodox and radical material theology, and religious naturalism. Since critic against eschatology is important in Latours explanatory model, this theme is discussed together with the possibilities of the church practices of liturgy and eucharistic celebration, especially in relation to the concept of time and space, the latter elaborated by the radical material theologian Petra Carlsson Redell. Although putting different emphasis on an ultimate eschatological hope, all authors stress the importance of acting now. The evangelical authors Daniel Brunner et al. present a strategy “living as if”, practicing restoration of the Earth here and now. In religious naturalism the hope lies in the common biological ground for all humanity and living things, also leading to a caring ethics. In general, relationality and materiality as well as including marginalized voices are important concepts when the authors are formulating environmental ethics and eco-theology. The concept of hope is shown to be important to define, in order to sort out especially false hope from a possibly fruitful concept: resilient hope. A resilient hope is grounded in Christian discipleship, is adaptive and able to recover. It is in a reciprocal relation to action. To develop a resilient hope I argue that it is important to allow both desperation and hope, since the free moving between the two “poles” can act liberating and enable action. A resilient hope gives space for scepticism since it is grounded in a reality always on the move. It is open for emergence and construction. Christianity has resources to house the space between hope and despair both in central biblical narratives and in bodily practices as liturgy and eucharist. Resilient hope in this thesis is earthbound, withstands being lost, and arises again and again in search for new constructive possibilities.

Nationwide, the craft brew industry has enjoyed massive growth. Hops are an important ingredient in craft brew beer and rapid growth of this industry has created many opportunities to grow hops. Currently, hops production is concentrated in the Pacific Northwest. That is beginning to change with new hops acres being planted every year across the country. The study looks at how economically feasible it is to plant hops in Nebraska. Is there enough local demand? Finally, given that Nebraska’s weather is dramatically different than the Pacific Northwest, can hops flourish there? The research begins by assessing all costs associated with a starting a three acre hops operation. Estimated yield and income is projected for ten years to establish cash flow. Instances of hail, wind and tornados for Clay County Nebraska for the years 2006-2016 were calculated to determine a probability of those weather events occurring. The probability was then used to determine the effect it could have on yield of hops per year. In addition to cost of production, the study also documented the growth of Nebraska’s craft brew industry to establish demand for locally grown hops. The researched concluded that if production stayed constant and our discount rate at 5%, assuming prices remain where they are or higher, then it is economically feasible to grow hops in Nebraska. Wind, hail and tornadoes do pose a threat in the Midwest but their effect on yield is not enough to deter someone from planting hops there. Access to reliable capital to begin and sustain a hops operation appears to have a greater impact. In addition, Nebraska’s craft brew industry continues to expand rapidly suggesting a strong market for locally grown hops. This information is important for anyone who is considering planting a commercial hops yard. Given how expensive the start-up costs are and how labor intensive the crop is, this research can provide guidance to those seeking to add hops production to their new or existing farming operation.
