Abstract:
Aim: To systematically review surveys of 12-month prevalence of homeopathy use by the general population worldwide. Methods: Studies were identified via database searches to October 2015. Study quality was assessed using a six-item tool. All estimates were in the context of a survey which also reported prevalence of any complementary and alternative medicine use. Results: A total of 36 surveys were included. Of these, 67% met four of six quality criteria.Twelve-month prevalence of treatment by a homeopath was reported in 24 surveys of adults (median 1.5%, range 0.2–8.2%). Estimates for children were similar to those for adults. Rates in the USA, UK, Australia and Canada all ranged from 0.2% to 2.9% and remained stable over the years surveyed (1986–2012).Twelve-month prevalence of all use of homeopathy (purchase of over-the-counter homeopathic medicines and treatment by a homeopath) was reported in 10 surveys of adults (median 3.9%, range 0.7–9.8%) while a further 11 surveys which did not define the type of homeopathy use reported similar data. Rates in the USA and Australia ranged from 1.7% to 4.4% and remained stable over the years surveyed. The highest use was reported by a survey in Switzerland where homeopathy is covered by mandatory health insurance. Conclusions: This review summarises 12-month prevalence of homeopathy use from surveys conducted in eleven countries (USA, UK, Australia, Israel, Canada, Switzerland, Norway, Germany, South Korea, Japan and Singapore). Each year a small but significant percentage of these general populations use homeopathy. This includes visits to homeopaths as well as purchase of over-the-counter homeopathic medicines.

Abstract:
This article provides multifaceted information as well as an assessment of how and why homoeopaths engage in quackery, which is neither safe, effective, or legal. The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors that influence the majority of homeopaths in Sindh to promote quackery through allopathic medical system, which is outside the boundaries of a homeopath’s practice license and competency. The study also explains why homeopathy has remained popular in Sindh, Pakistan, despite its limitations and waning popularity in the United States (USA), the United Kingdom (UK), Russia, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Spain over the last decade, based on major national clinical research studies claiming that homeopathic medicines are no more effective than a placebo. Abstract:
This paper focuses on homeopaths’ strategies to popularise homeopathy from 1850 to 1870. I argue that homeopaths created a space for homeopathy in Mexico City in the mid-nineteenth century by facilitating patients’ access to medical knowledge, consultation and practice. In this period, when national and international armed conflicts limited the diffusion and regulation of academic medicine, homeopaths popularised homeopathy by framing it as a life-enhancing therapy with tools that responded to patients’ needs. Patients’ preference for homeopathy evolved into commercial endeavours that promoted the practice of homeopathy through the use of domestic manuals. Using rare publications and archival records, I analyse the popularisation of homeopathy in Ramón Comellas’s homeopathic manual, the commercialisation of Julián González’s family guides, and patients’ and doctors’ reception of homeopathy. I show that narratives of conversion to homeopathy relied on the different experiences of patients and trained doctors, and that patients’ positive experience with homeopathy weighed more than the doctors’ efforts to explain to the public how academic medicine worked. The fact that homeopaths and patients used a shared language to describe disease experiences framed the possibility of a horizontal transmission of medical knowledge, opening up the possibility for patients to become practitioners. By relying on the long tradition of domestic medicine in Mexico, the popularisation of homeopathy disrupted the professional boundaries that academic physicians had begun to build, making homeopaths the largest group that challenged the emergent medical academic culture and its diffusion in Mexico in the nineteenth century.

Abstract:
AbstractHomeopathy was introduced into the USA by Hans Burch Gram in 1825. It developed largely through immigration of German homeopaths. The first homeopathic medical college was established in Allentown, PA in 1835. The American institute of Homeopathy (AIH) was founded in 1844. The American Medical Association was founded in 1847 and pursued policies hostile to homeopathy from the outset. Eclectic medicine was widespread in nineteenth century medicine, one of the greatest homeopaths, JT Kent had originally been an eclectic. The International Hahnemannian Association split from the AIH in 1880. The Flexner Report of 1910 resulted in many homeopathic medical colleges being closed down. Homeopathy in the USA was in steep decline from the 1920s to the 1960s but has had a strong recovery since the 1970s.

Abstract:
Influenza is a common disease, widespread all over the world, that has no satisfactory treatment up to now. Homeopathy has a long tradition of being used to treat influenza and has accumulated empirical and experimental evidence showing positive effects. Large scale observational studies in different continents have never been carried out to assess the overall benefits of homeopathy in flu, what prescription strategy and medicines are more effective and for which group of patients it can be most helpful. On the other hand, there is a predicted pandemic of avian flu and it is important to be proactive and to be prepared to test homeopathy in this context. This worldwide study will collect observational data on patients with influenza or influenza-like illness treated with homeopathic by experienced homeopathic doctors during a period of 2 years. Measurements will include duration of influenza illness, change in total score of symptoms and clinical scales, as well as safety aspects (presence of adverse effects and complications). Homeopathic and any conventional medicines prescribed will be registered. Data will be entered and loaded in a web application, and will be statistically analyzed using descriptive and inferential techniques. Ethical approval will be sought, and all cases are to be submitted in an anonymous way to protect patient identity. This project aims to enable collection of useful data, together with the development of information technology infrastructure, that could be useful in future multi-centre randomized controlled trials in the treatment of influenza patients with homeopathy, besides testing a new strategy for accumulating evidence on the benefit of homeopathic treatment in other diseases and conditions. Abstract:
The article entitled "Treatment of Acute Childhood Diarrhea With Homeopathic Medicine: A Randomized Clinical Dual in Nicaragua" by Jacobs et al (Pediatrics. 1994;93:719-725) reported a study of the efficacy of homeopathy in the treatment of acute childhood diarrhea. Children with diarrhea were entered into the study if the diarrhea was not severe (type C severe diarrhea patients were sent to a hospital). Oral rehydration therapy was begun, and subjects were randomly assigned to receive either homeopathic preparations or placebos. The preparations were determined by a computerized therapeutic scheme. This scheme depended on a family observer's answers to questions from an "experienced homeopathic practitioner." The article purports to show a statistically significant difference favoring the treatment group over the controls. The report has faults of 1) purpose, 2) method, 3) diagnosis and treatment selection, 4) results interpretation, and 5) authors' editorial comments. The reported difference between treatment and control groups are of dubious significance. This article argues that the study's conclusion that homeopathy is effective for childhood diarrhea is unwarranted. Homeopaths claim that homeopathy is an "alternative" medical system. The authors justify their research in the hope that homeopathy would have public health importance. If true, one would presume the system to be equal to or better than oral rehydration therapy. Therefore, even if it were positive, this study would not prove homeopathy to be an alternative to the standard treatment of childhood diarrhea. METHODS Government agencies do not routinely assay homeopathic products. Homeopathic products have been found to be adulterated with active material.1-3

Abstract:
AbstractAmong all the discoveries of Hahnemann, potentisation was the most important, though controversial. The curative effect of individualised homeopathic potencies is empirical but inexplicable by the conventional principles of science. This paradox is a highly contentious topic of debate between rationalists and homeopaths. Recent discoveries relating to the nano-particulate nature of homeopathic ultra-high potencies and their potential effect on individual gene expression give new insights into this complex issue. It is concluded that homeopathy may be viewed as ‘personalised nanomedicine’.

If there were one lacking or insufficient issue which conscious medical orientated homeopaths could regret, it would be probably high quality clinical research. A big part of the homeopathic community still insists in the traditional ways of building knowledge, leading us nowhere. Abstract:
AbstractThis is another article of what we hope will be a series of interesting contributions about the relationship between art and homeopathy and the art and science of homeopathy. Many have noted this connection between art and homeopathy, and there is something about the nature of the creative force and the way in which we perceive the vital force as creative, which puts homeopathy in the same dynamic place as that which drives artistic inspiration. We would like readers to reflect on these connections and how they may have experienced, used or made art a focus of their homeopathic practice and understanding. I know from starting my group ‘Art and Homeopathy’ that the direction of our own work is diverse, but all is founded on the principle of using art in some way to clarify and enhance practice. We invite you to send us your experience or take on this, be you artist, homeopath or both. This article tries to explain how art, homeopathy and myth are totally interconnected.

Abstract:
Homeopathy, a system of Traditional and Complementary Medicine (T&CM, according to WHO definition), is under frequent attack by skeptics because of its supposed “lack of evidence.” To overcome the distrust of skeptics and the public, many databases have been created, which focused on collecting all the published and indexed studies; however, none of these seem to be “comprehensive” and systematic enough. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the most reliable and available homeopathic studies in order to systematize the best evidence at all levels of research (studies based on humans, animals, and plants, randomized controlled trials [RCTs], observational studies, fundamental studies, etc.). A dynamic database was created containing 1,146 reliable pieces of evidence. It is being updated every three months and is available both for the whole homeopathic community and for the patients, Institutions, stakeholders, and skeptics. In the last 50 years, evidence in homeopathy has been increasing both at a quantitative and qualitative level. Unfortunately, it is not well known by the homeopaths themselves and also by the medical and scientific community. Therefore, a comprehensive database will not only support homeopaths but also assist in the better promotion and worldwide recognition of homeopathy as a significant field of medicine.

Abstract:
Homeopathy is universally known as an opponent of allopathic Medicine, namely scientific medicine based on ponderal drugs and recognised mechanisms of receptor agonism and antagonism following the dose-response curve. Over time the difficulty to explain with arguments the action of homeopathic ultra-diluted remedies has led many homeopaths to distance themselves from any pharmacological knowledges. Nevertheless this position fortgets not only the modalities in which homeopathy was born and has grown, but a lot of modern changes of view in body-mind communication, cell communication, neuro-immune-endocrinology and bioelectromagnetism, that could give new reasons to treat as clinical homeopathic practice is teaching and to recognize the principle of similars as a modern pharmacological principle. These arguments, receptorial cell communication, bioelectromagnetism and body-mind unity are the bases of Homeopathy and of the Similia Principle and are all included in embryonic but sufficiently clear considerations in the fundamental book of Hahnemann, the Organon (parr. 11, 13, 15-18, 21, 22, 29-32, 63-70). Two kind of evidences confirm the pharmacological bases of SimiliaPriniciple, in vitro experiments and homeopathic pathogenetic trials on healthy volunteers, best known as provings. Even clinical homeopathic phenomena like initial aggravation and return of old symptoms confirm this pharmacological view of the Simila Principle.

Abstract:
Abstract Homeopathy arrived from the United States to Peruvian soil in the last decades of the nineteenth century, broadening the repertoire of existing medical knowledge, which included an emerging medical profession, Chinese herbalists, and indigenous practitioners. This article examines the circulation and use of homeopathic therapies and medicines in Lima from the time when the American homeopath George Deacon initiated his practice, in the 1880s, until his death, in 1915. Although homeopathy was not the most widely used medical therapy in the country, it nevertheless posed a threat to professional medicine and the School of Medicine’s desired monopoly of the field of medicine.

Abstract:
Introduction: Homeopathy is a pharmaceutical and medical specialty practiced in Brazil since 1840 and known by the Federal Council of Medicine since 1980. The homeopathic pharmacy is a recognized part of the pharmaceutical profession regulated and supervised by the Federal Council of Pharmacy (CFF) and the Regional Councils of Pharmacy throughout Brazil (CFF 319/97 and CFF 440/05). Despite the existence of a Federal Law (number 1552, published in 1952) which implemented the teaching of “Notions of Homeopathic Pharmaceutical Techniques” in all colleges of pharmacy, these lectures are still not present in the majority of Brazilian Pharmacy curricula. This reluctance in the implementation of the teaching of homeopathy consists in an obstacle to the formation of new pharmaceutical homeopaths in Rio de Janeiro. Aim: To evaluate how the teaching of homeopathy is being taught in undergraduate courses in pharmacy in Rio de Janeiro and register through a specific questionnaire, the students' interest, as well as the availability of internships in the field of homeopathy. Methodology: The survey was started in May 2011 with a sample of ten pharmacy colleges in the state of Rio de Janeiro (UNIG, UNIGRANRIO, UNIABEU, UNIPLI, Universo Niterói, Universo São Gonçalo, UFRJ, UNISUAM, Estácio de Sá and UFF). A specific previously developed questionnaire was applied to undergraduate students to register their interest and availability for internships in the field of homeopathy. Moreover, the students were interviewed for relevant information about their interests in the area of homeopathy. Results: Preliminary results showed that 57% of the respondents presented interest so far in qualifying in homeopathy pharmacy, 32% of them did not show any interest in the area and 11% reported not having a definite position. Regarding working with homeopathy, 51% expressed interest in working in this area, 36% showed no interest and 13% were indecisive. As far as conducting a refresher course in homeopathy, 57% showed interest, 35% showed no interest and 8% expressed no definite opinion. The traineeship of at least 240 hours, required by the Federal Council of Pharmacy to all pharmacists who wish to assume responsibility for technical laboratory or industrial homeopathic pharmacy, has not been offered by the majority of Pharmacy Faculties, considering that 89% of the respondents have not done this traineeship. Data collection will be finished by the second half of June. Conclusion: The spread of homeopathy should be done from the beginning of the undergraduate course in pharmacy to evoke the interest in the discipline, especially in colleges where it is not compulsory. Most of interviewed students were not informed about the legal obligation of the training in the laboratory or pharmacy of homeopathy. Almost all colleges used in this study do not provide the internship for the students who show an interest in homeopathy. This scenario draws our attention to the necessity of new projects that enable a comprehensive and systematic teaching of homeopathy, providing new possibilities for homeopathic professional activities.

Abstract:
Homeopathy and its transnational transmission have received significant attention from historians of medicine. But the emergence of homeopathy in modern Chinese society has remained little explored. This article identifies the homeopathic practitioners arriving in nineteenth-century China, and then explores their origins, efforts and sense of professional identity in a transnational context. The history of homeopathy in China is found to begin in the late nineteenth century, during which the growth of the Christian missionary enterprise promoted the arrival of sporadic Euro-American homeopathic practitioners, also missionaries, in coastal regions of China. Almost all of them received professional training in American homeopathic medical institutions; and most of them were females, providing additional opportunities for local women patients to receive treatment. The practitioners recognized homeopathy and their collective homeopathic identity, but their healing services were not necessarily essentially homeopathic. Homeopathy that they learnt also evolved and transacted with exotic knowledge during its globalization. Under the influence of homeopathy, some Euro-Americans claimed to have discovered homeopathic elements in Chinese medical ideas and practice. The early history of homeopathy explored in this article helps deconstruct the popular imagination of a coherent ‘Western medicine’ in modern China.

Abstract:
This paper presents the results of conceptual research on the nature and operation of visual signs in homeopathic clinical practice. Aims: to analyze the role of visual signs in homeopathy together with their specific semiotic structure in correlation with the codes leading to possible significations and then to assess the possibility of establishing coherence between the symptoms and signs of patients. Methodology: Sign-complexes are approached through a four-stage model including: 1) delimitation; 2) decomposition; 3) correlation and; 4) reintegration of signs. Data for analysis were collected along 15 years of homeopathic clinical practice and recorded by visual means; theoretical foundations derive from Jakobson’s theory of communication and Peirce’s semiotics. Results: stages of delimitation and decomposition are illustrated by a homeopathic semiology of the tongue; analysis of correlation allowed to identify 9 different possible patterns; reintegration requires a first phase of extension of the connotation and denotation of signs followed by a phase of contraction of meaning leading to decision-making. Conclusion: application of the model proposed results in highly qualified and individual visual signs that bring new elements to reconsider the role of objective signs in homeopathic practice. Abstract:
AbstractHIV-AIDS is an epidemic that causes an excessive load on the health care system. In the last decade, HIV has erupted worldwide. Homeopathy holds the potential for improving patients' well-being and prolonging life by ameliorating the draining side effects of anti-retro viral (ARV) drugs. This article attempts to bridge the gap between homeopathic and conventional therapeutic plans. The author has cited a case from a clinical setting where a patient discontinued ARV drugs, and consulted a homeopath for herpes zoster infection. The patient was followed up for 1 year, was relieved from symptoms and remained free from opportunistic infections. Homeopathy helped him; he regained confidence in himself and the homeopathic therapeutic measures. The case illustrated here, which has shown improvement in both subjective and objective parameters, may be used for the management of patients suffering from HIV or AIDS.

Abstract:
AbstractHomeopaths believe that a medicine, which causes a particular symptom in a healthy volunteer, will cure a similar symptom in a sick patient. From this phenomenon, it is possible to deduce a hypothesis: homeopaths should be able to distinguish a homeopathic medicine from a placebo by taking both and observing their effects. If true, this would support an effect of homeopathic medicines different from that of placebo. If false, it casts serious doubt on the contemporary homeopathic knowledge base and on homeopathic pathogenetic trials (HPTs) as currently practised. The study design was a double-blinded, crossover trial. It consisted of a 1-week study medication period, a 2-week washout period and a further 1-week on study medication. Bryonia in a 12c potency was chosen as the trial medication. Participants were recruited in the UK from the Faculty of Homeopathy and the Society of Homeopaths and were currently healthy, aged 18 or over with at least three years' clinical experience of homeopathy. Of the 500 recruitment packs despatched, we received 88 responses (17.6%). Seventy homeopaths were randomised of whom 50 completed the trial. In the main analysis 60% correctly identified the bottle containing Bryonia (n=40; 95% confidence interval 43%, 75%; P=0.27). There was evidence of an order effect: subjects were much more likely to think they received active Bryonia in the first rather than the second period. In this study a promising trend was observed that symptoms reported by some homeopaths may not be completely attributable to placebo. A multi-national, large-scale trial will be required to investigate this phenomena with adequate statistical power.

Abstract:
Background: Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common condition characterized by stomach contents flowing into the esophagus, causing distressing symptoms and potential complications. GERD is primarily linked to lower esophageal sphincter dysfunction, and its symptoms can impact quality of life. Treatment options include lifestyle changes, medications, and surgery, with concerns about prolonged medication use. Homeopathy is an alternative approach gaining recognition and interest as an alternative to conventional orally administered drugs for GERD. Aim/Objective: This review examines the clinical evaluation of homeopathic treatments for GERD, highlighting their potential role by analysing existing clinical studies. Methodology: We conducted a comprehensive database search for clinical studies on homeopathic treatments for GERD, adhering to inclusion criteria related to homeopathy in GERD treatment. Results: Eight clinical studies were identified. Renu Mittal's study demonstrated significant symptom improvement and enhanced quality of life with homeopathic treatment. Dr. Leena Dighe's study reinforced the effectiveness of homeopathic medicines in GERD, Acid-Peptic Disorder (APD), and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Dossett et al. highlighted the significance of patient-provider interactions, while Sitharthan's retrospective analysis supported the potential of homeopathy for gastrointestinal disorders. A study exploring Robinia pseudoacacia in GERD treatment showed positive results. Conclusion: These studies suggest the potential of homeopathic treatments in managing GERD and related gastrointestinal disorders. These findings encourage future studies and applications of homeopathic interventions in GERD management. Further research, including randomized trials, is needed to solidify homeopathy's role in gastroenterological care.

Abstract:
Background: Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by a reversible obstruction and hyperactivity of inferior aerial treat [1]. It is responsible for lifestyle modification and, considering its high frequency, it became an important issue in the budget of health services around the world. Aspects like the lack of definitive results and presence of adverse effects, observed for traditional therapy, as well as the search for better quality of life have increased patients’ interest for complementary and alternative medicines (CAM), being homeopathy one of the most cited [2]. In 2001, asthma was between the 10 diagnostics most treated by homeopaths in USA [3]. Aims: In this work, a qualitative research was made focusing the evaluation of the real contribution that homeopathy can represent for asthma patients and the role of pharmacist in this therapy. Methodology: databases such as Medline, Sciencedirect and Bireme were used to find scientific articles, applying the expressions “asthma”, “homeopathy” and “complementary and alternative medicine”. Results: At least six works demonstrate successful applications of homeopathic treatment in children or adults with asthma. The main benefits cited are the decrease of frequency and gravity of the crises, besides of some cure cases. Conclusions: Data available are still scanty about asthma homeopathic treatment. The few works found showed this kind of therapy is very adequate, mainly because of the emotional component of the disease, but also because it represents to be away from the adverse effects commonly related to the traditional therapy (e. g. corticoids). To ensure a correct therapy is being made, the pharmacist must be present and active in the patients’ identification and documentation, giving them right orientations about the use and storage of homeopathic medicines, besides of stimulating a close and confidence relationship with the homeopath. Also, the manufacturing of remedies must be according to the official guidelines in order to guarantee their quality.

Abstract:
During the last two centuries homeopathy is a part of Russian medicine in whole, that’s why its development must be studied by historical medical science. There are following main stages in the development and dissemination of homeopathic medicine in Russia: 1) 1820ies-1860ies: penetration of homeopathic ideas into Russia - since the first physicians who practiced homeopathy in treatment up to organization of the first homeopathic societies and journals; 2) the end of 1860ies-1918: this stage was characterized by strengthening of homeopathy positions in Russia - since the organization of the first homeopathic societies and journals up to radical political changes in Russia which influenced on the government attitude to homeopathic medicine; 3) 1918 - second half of 1980ies - these years were a severe time for homeopathy, when it was nearly underground; 4) since the end of the 1980ies till nowadays - this period is characterized by rapid development of homeopathic medicine, including its recognition by physicians and people. The same four stages (start, spreading, decline and renaissance) can be seen in the history of homeopathy in the most developed countries as well.

Classical homeopathy is a method belonging to complementary and alternative medicine and is used in treatment of both people and animals. In human medicine, classical homeopathy has a different status within the European Union, depending on legislation that applies in the member countries Veterinary homeopathy has currently being developed in three directions: scientific researches are being conducted, animals are being treated by homeopathy and education for homeopathic treatment of animals is being organized as well. European Council for Classical Homeopathy (ECCH) in 2007. published a report on homeopathic treatment of animals in Europe. The report encompassed a variety of issues related to homeopathic treatment in veterinary medicine in the countries of the European Union (EU) as well as ECCH members, wherein the situation in Serbia is also mentioned. The current veterinary homeopathy in Serbia is in the early development. Compared to the moment of publication of the report, there is a slight positive change, but there still lacks a standardized education and licencing system in this field.

Abstract:
Background: The phenomenon of people’s attraction to Homeopathy throughout its history is a known fact by all homeopaths. This attraction is noted in polarization of people’s opinions, some for and some against. People in favor of Homeopathy use dynamized drugs and contribute to the area, for example, the development of the methodology Self-Organizing Factors of Biofield (BioFAO). In contrast, people against Homeopathy try to stop its use and feed endless discussions. Despite be aware of these events, there was no prior description about the whole process identified as an effect to make easy the development of an appropriate response. This understanding was published in a brief explanation of the phenomenon exemplified by development of BioFAO. Due to similar behavior of people that happened with another great work, which is a famous painting, the phenomenon was called La Gioconda Effect. Aims: The purpose of this paper is to describe the La Gioconda Effect. Methodology: After comparing both Homeopathy’s and Mona Lisa’s histories found at bibliographic review, the La Gioconda Effect was revealed, described qualitatively, and published. Results and discussion: The relationship between people with Homeopathy showed several similarities with people and Mona Lisa. Both works survived on a secular scale, influenced generations, have a period of social acceptance, many people show extreme interest in the use, education, research and dissemination of them. A remarkable example of the development of Homeopathy is the creation of BioFAO, which is a protocol with a complex of dynamized dugs. The description of La Gioconda Effect helps to understand the history and development of Homeopathy, as well as people's behavior. Conclusion: La Gioconda Effect demonstrates people's attraction to Homeopathy.

Abstract:
Abstract Objectives In France, homeopathy is the most frequently used complementary therapy in supportive care in oncology (SCO); its use is steadily increasing. However, data is limited about the perception and relevance of homeopathy by oncologists and general practitioners (GPs) both with and without homeopathic training (HGPs and NHGPs, respectively). Our aim was to evaluate French physicians’ perceptions of homeopathy to clarify its place in SCO through two original observation survey-based studies. Materials and methods Two cross-sectional surveys of French physicians were conducted involving (1) 150 specialist oncologists; (2) 97 HGPs and 100 NHGPs. Questions evaluated physician attitudes to homeopathy and patterns of use of homeopathic therapies in patients requiring SCO. Survey responses were described and analyzed on the basis of physician status. Results Ten percent of oncologists stated they prescribe homeopathy; 36% recommend it; 54% think that homeopathy is potentially helpful in SCO. Two-thirds of the NHGPs sometimes prescribe homeopathy in the context of SCO and 58% regularly refer their patients to homeopathic doctors. HGPs have a positive perception of homeopathy in SCO. Conclusions Homeopathy is viewed favorably as an integrated SCO therapy by the majority of French physicians involved with cancer patients—oncologists and GPs. Symptoms of particular relevance include fatigue, anxiety, peripheral neuropathy, sleep disturbance, and hot flashes. In such clinical situations, response to conventional therapies may be suboptimal and homeopathy is considered a reliable therapeutic option. These two studies highlight the fact that homeopathy has gained legitimacy as the first complementary therapy in SCO in France.

Abstract:
India is a country of wide diversity in terms of physiography, climate, language, religion andavailable methods or systems of treatment. India also has a rich culture and heritage with ancient beliefs and knowledge; a large number of people use traditional methods of healing. Homeopathy was first introduced in Kolkata, in 1810, by a German geologist who had come to perform geological investigations. By this time, Mr. Mullence, of the London Missionary Society, was known for treating the local people of southern Kolkata. The Calcutta Medical College was the first homeopathic medical college, established in 1881. This institution played a major role in the spread of homeopathy in India. However, at an earlier time, a homeopathic hospital was set up by the surgeon Samuel Brooking in south India. Many clinics and dispensaries opened at this time. In 1973, the Government of India passed the Central Act, by which homeopathy is recognized as one of the national systems of medicine in India. This represents a true milestone in the growth and development of homeopathy in the country. The Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH) was established to regulate homeopathy education. In the present time, there are about 200 homeopathic medical colleges and 38 post-graduate colleges that deliver degree courses; institutions such as like CCH (Central Council of Homoeopathy), NIH (National Institute of Homoeopathy), CCRH (Central Council For Research In Homoeopathy), AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy)promote high-level research. Several hundred thousands of practitioners deliver homeopathic medications all over the country. There are over 200, 000 registered homeopathic doctors, and further 12,000 graduate every year. Government of India introduced the Homeopathic Enquiry Committee in 1948, which recognized homeopathy as a scientific system of medicine. Scientific homeopathic research is performed by investigators from different fields, such as: zoology, physiology, physics, etc. The mechanism of action of homoeopathic potency is actively investigated by them. The experiments are performed on human, animal and plant’s body. The faith in homeopathy increases day by day, as it represents a safe, effective and natural mode of healing. The aims of the present study were: 1) to analyze the growth and development of homeopathy in India; 2) To establish the degree of acceptance of homeopathy by different socioeconomic groups; and 3) To establish the degree of satisfaction with homeopathic treatment of different socioeconomic groups. The study was based on primary and secondary data. The primary data were collected in a survey using a questionnaire applied to 100 individuals, randomly selected and with different socioeconomic background in and around Kolkata; the participants were categorized in 3 groups. The secondary data were gathered from the electronic media. The data were subjected to statistical analysis. Variables assessed were: 1) frequency of visits to homeopathic services; 2) type of diseases for which homeopathy is preferred; 3) age range for which homeopathy is preferred; 4) Weather the respondent is the first generation using homeopathic medicine or his/her ancestors used to take it; and 5) level of satisfaction. These variables were compared among the 3 groups. The result showed that low-income group - family income 8,400 Euro per month (businessmen, college professors etc) prefer homeopathy for their children, visit reputed urban doctors and obtain medicines from reputed manufacturers, but the level of satisfaction is almost equal in 2nd and 3rd groups.

Abstract:
Introduction: Homeopathy is being questioned mostly in developed countries, despite the growing body of basic and clinical research with positive results. Even though many meta-analyses show positive findings, there is an urge for large clinical studies to improve the perception that there is an effect. To test the awareness of homeopaths in the research needs, a survey was developed asking about usefulness, and everyday use of research findings. Methods: The respondents were identified by the degree of academic study, age, experience, kind of practice, region of practice, and scientific background. To understand the predominant thoughts, questions were asked to define whether Homeopathy should be considered and studied as science if the homeopath regularly reads scientific papers, and of what kind. Also, the definition of which kind of literature contributes the most to ameliorating the quality of medical attention, the usefulness of basic and clinical research, the source of the research budget, and the priorities for future research. The forms were created in Spanish and Portuguese, and distributed by email, mostly in South America during July and part of August 2023. Results: A total of 463 responses were analyzed. More than 90% of the respondents were practicing homeopaths and 209 were MDs, 64% participated in a scientific study in the past. When asked about developing homeopathy, 50% preferred clinical research, 19% meta-analysis, 11% basic research, 11% HPT and 6% clinical verification. Funding should be provided by public institutions, Universities, and pharmaceutical companies. When asked about prescribing 76% relied on experience transmitted by masters, 66% on their own experience, and 48% on clinical research. Clinical research was found useful in 88% of the sample. There was no clear response when asked about sources for improving clinical practice. Conclusion: Homeopaths are informed about scientific research but have no clear perception of how it may improve clinical practice.

Abstract:
(1) Background: Classical (=individualized) homeopathic therapy is based on the individual and not on the indication. (2) Methods: The prerequisite for conducting methodologically high-quality studies on indvidualized homeopathy is that the principles of homeopathy are considered, since the selection of the simile (the individually appropriate homeopathic medicinal product) is decisive for the effectiveness of the homeopathic treatment, because only an application lege artis can be effective for the respective patient. Apart from this, criteria for evidence-based medicine must be considered for design, conduction, documentation, and rating of studies in homeopathy. (3) Results: When criteria for evidence-based medicine for design, conduction, documentation, and rating of studies in homeopathy are considered, effects on all quality levels according to Cochrane criteria are recognizable, especially for individualized homeopathy, even in the methodologically high-quality studies. (4) Conclusions: Based on the following three facts, the discussion of the evidence in human and veterinary homeopathy lays the foundations for a comprehensive presentation of the evidence on homeopathy: (a) homeopathic medicinal products without indication are 100% identical with regard to production, quality, safety, and principles of application, regardless of whether they are used in animals or humans; (b) if the simile principle (Similia similibus curentur, or ‘Let like be cured by like’) is adhered to that classical (=individualized) homeopathic therapy is based on the individual and not on the indication; and (c) if the proof of effectiveness of individualized homeopathy in one or more indications is available, the logical consequence seems to be that it can be concluded that it is effective in other indications. In view of One Health and of the demands of the European Green Deal (Farm2Fork Strategy) and the EU Organic Regulation 2018/848, the application of homeopathy in the sense of integrative veterinary medicine and the integration of complementary medicine including homeopathy at universities seems a necessary consequence and requirement in the interests of the patient, which is already expressed in the American consensus guidelines for an integrative veterinary medicine curriculum and is legally anchored in Switzerland by the Medical Professions Act for university teaching and research.

Abstract:
Background Acute upper respiratory tract infections (URTIs) and their complications are the most frequent cause of antibiotic prescribing in primary care. With multi-resistant organisms proliferating, appropriate alternative treatments to these conditions are urgently required. Homeopathy presents one solution; however, there are many methods of homeopathic prescribing. This review of the literature considers firstly whether homeopathy offers a viable alternative therapeutic solution for acute URTIs and their complications, and secondly how such homeopathic intervention might take place. Method Critical review of post 1994 clinical studies featuring homeopathic treatment of acute URTIs and their complications. Study design, treatment intervention, cohort group, measurement and outcome were considered. Discussion focused on the extent to which homeopathy is used to treat URTIs, rate of improvement and tolerability of the treatment, complications of URTIs, prophylactic and long-term effects, and the use of combination versus single homeopathic remedies. Results Multiple peer-reviewed studies were found in which homeopathy had been used to treat URTIs and associated symptoms (cough, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, otitis media, acute sinusitis, etc.). Nine randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and 8 observational/cohort studies were analysed, 7 of which were paediatric studies. Seven RCTs used combination remedies with multiple constituents. Results for homeopathy treatment were positive overall, with faster resolution, reduced use of antibiotics and possible prophylactic and longer-term benefits. Conclusions Variations in size, location, cohort and outcome measures make comparisons and generalisations concerning homeopathic clinical trials for URTIs problematic. Nevertheless, study findings suggest at least equivalence between homeopathy and conventional treatment for uncomplicated URTI cases, with fewer adverse events and potentially broader therapeutic outcomes. The use of non-individualised homeopathic compounds tailored for the paediatric population merits further investigation, including through cohort studies. In the light of antimicrobial resistance, homeopathy offers alternative strategies for minor infections and possible prevention of recurring URTIs.

Abstract:
Background: The use of homeopathic medicines has increased, partly because conventional drugs do not always elicit the desired effects, and partly because their side effects might compromise the patient’s’ adherence to treatment. Several studies showed benefits in the use of highly diluted medicines for the treatment of infectious diseases. Aim: The aim of the present review was to perform a critical discussion about aspects of homeopathy and the current status of veterinary experimentation, as well as of the use of highly diluted drugs in infectious and parasitic diseases. The main aspects of effects, therapeutic regimens and / or dynamizations used in various models are discussed. Methods: Articles published since 2000 in journals included in databases PubMed and SciELO and specialized journals sought for and reviewed using keywords “parasitic diseases/homeopathy” and “parasitic diseases/ ultra-dilutions”. Results: Several recent experimental studies demonstrated the biological effect of highly diluted medications on parasitic infections, with reduction of the number of parasites and improvement of the clinical condition of the affected animals. Several articles exhibit problems in the description of methods, which threaten the reproducibility of experiments. Conclusion: The acknowledgment of homeopathy depends on the credibility of investigators. Although research on homeopathy has clearly increased in recent years, relative to both implementation of more consistent methods and description of data and methods, improvement is still required. Precise and detailed descriptions will contribute to advance the use of homeopathy, so that society at large might benefit in actual practice.

AbstractHealing patients who have to live in a destructive environment demands of us as homeopaths to also participate in the healing of the whole system. Setting homeopathic work into a global context we can see that with our large experience of working with crises, we can well contribute to a solution of the global problems. For many reasons, homeopathy can serve as a model of a sustainable healing art. Seeing ourselves as part of a global community of workers for change will also help us to be perceived in a different way.

Abstract:
This article examines homeopathic practitioners ‘real life’ accounts, and illustrates the ways in which they negotiate their homeopathic practices as contingently formulated ongoing social events in research interview settings. Interview transcripts were analysed in a qualitative framework using discourse analysis. The findings show that practitioners construct homeopathy and defend their own individual practices either by ‘alignment-with-medicine’ or by ‘boosting-the-credibility-of-homeopathy’. Homeopathy is also negotiated and sustained as an ‘alternative’ to notions of conventional medicine, which is the accepted yardstick for practice or as a practice that is portrayed as problematic. Overall, managing personal credibility is accomplished through specific ways of accounting that tend to marginalise homeopathy. Developing and establishing homeopathic practice further as a discipline in its own right is offered as a ‘nucleus’ to reduce continuing marginalisation.

Abstract:
The clinical studies on the effectiveness of homeopathy in respiratory allergy (18 randomized trials and 9 observational studies) are described. The literature of common immunologic disorders including also upper respiratory tract infections (URTI) and otorhinolaryngology (reported in part 1), is evaluated and discussed. Most of initial evidence-based research was addressed to the question of whether homeopathic high dilutions are placebos or possess specific effects, but this question has been often equivocal and is still a matter of debate. The evidence demonstrates that in some conditions homeopathy shows significant promise, e.g.Galphimia glauca(low dilutions/potencies) in allergic oculorhinitis, classical individualized homeopathy in otitis and possibly in asthma and allergic complaints, and a few low-potency homeopathic complexes in sinusitis and rhinoconjunctivitis. A general weakness of evidence derives from lack of independent confirmation of reported trials and from presence of conflicting results, as in case of homeopathic immunotherapy and of classical homeopathy for URTI. The suitable methods to evaluate homeopathy effectiveness, without altering the setting of cure, are also analyzed.

Abstract:
Abstract Background: Homeopathy is being increasingly practiced within different medical areas of use. Homeopathic medicines are sold in German pharmacies, whereas the assortment of Swedish pharmacies does not include homeopathic medicines. Despite differences between Sweden and Germany, homeopathic medicines are classified as drugs in both countries. Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the pharmacy employees’ self-rated knowledge, use and attitudes toward homeopathy in Sweden and Germany. Methods: A quantitative web-survey was sent to 30 pharmacies in Sweden and 30 pharmacies in Germany, which were selected by using a multi-stage clustering sampling. The questionnaire contained closed-ended rating scales. To compare the self-rated knowledge, use and attitudes toward homeopathy of Swedish and German pharmacy employees, chi-square tests and Mann-Whitney tests were performed in SPSS. Results: A total of 209 pharmacy employees answered the survey (108 in Sweden and 101 in Germany). German participants estimated their knowledge higher than the Swedish participants (p < 0.01). In both countries, most participants thought that pharmacy employees should have knowledge about homeopathy. Although most Swedish participants stated that they receive questions about homeopathy, the German pharmacy employees receive questions about homeopathy more frequently (p < 0.01). Swedish participants reported less experience of own use of homeopathic medicines and less belief in their effectiveness as compared to the German participants (p < 0.01). However, in both countries, most participants stated that homeopathic medicines should be sold in pharmacies. Conclusion: As pharmacy employees should act professionally to advice customers on all drugs, increased homeopathic knowledge in pharmacy employees could potentially improve pharmaceutical practice.

Abstract:
Homeopathy has contributed throughout history to the control and eradication of epidemic diseases. Facing the challenge of controlling an outbreak of dengue, the Secretary of Health of the county of Macaé, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in early 2007 carried out a “Homeopathy Campaign against Dengue”. 156,000 doses of homeopathic remedy were freely distributed in April and May 2007 to asymptomatic patients and 129 doses to symptomatic patients treated in outpatient clinics, according to the notion of “epidemic genus”. The remedy used was a homeopathic complex against dengue containing Phosphorus 30cH, Crotalus horridus 30cH and Eupatorium perfoliatum 30cH. The incidence of the disease in the first three months of 2008 fell 93% by comparison to the corresponding period in 2007, whereas in the rest of the State of Rio de Janeiro there was an increase of 128%. While confounding factors were not controlled for, these results suggest that homeopathy may be an effective adjunct in Dengue outbreak prevention. Abstract:
Research into the homeopathic consultation has largely focused on patients’ experiences, although the practitioner is a crucial component of the therapeutic context and may have an important part in optimizing health outcomes. Therefore the aim of this qualitative research was to gain an in-depth understanding of homeopathic practitioners’ perceptions and experiences of the consultation. Medical and non-medical homeopaths were sampled from the registers of the Faculty and Society of Homeopaths. Two phases of data collection were employed. Phase 1 used in depth face-to-face interviews enabling the development of an initial model of the homeopathic consultation. Phase 2 involved observations of homeopathic consultations and practitioner reflective diaries in order to confirm, refute, or enlarge the model. Using the constant comparative method of grounded theory five main categories emerged, exploring the journey, finding the level, responding therapeutically, understanding self, andconnecting, forming a model entitled “a theoretical model of a UK classical homeopathic consultation” which describes how homeopaths view and enact the consultation process. This study suggests that the process of identifying and prescribing the remedy is embedded in the consultation, highlighting the interconnectedness of the whole homeopathic consultation and aspects of the consultation that are unique and specific to homeopathy.

Abstract:
The question, proposed by the German Central Union of homeopathic Doctors, is the pivotal subject addressed in a series of lectures and discussions being held all over Germany in 2010, to celebrate the bicentenary of homeopathy´s first medical textbook. Hahnemann´s Organon of the Healing Art is the basis for classical homeopathy. Reading its 6th and posthumous edition is part of the education of 90% of the homeopaths, as indicated by a survey carried out at the 60th Homeopathic World Medical Congress (Berlin 2005). This might be odd to conventional doctors, used to read the latest editions of textbooks and journals, but Hahnemann´s therapeutics seems to be ahead of his time, in that classical homeopathy can be at least as effective as current standard pharmacotherapy. For instance, classical homeopathy for children suffering from atopic eczema showed comparable results to conventional treatment in usual care. Moreover, randomized controlled double blind trials using the dynamization scale introduced by the 6th edition (fifty-millesimal or Quinquagintamillesimal dynamization and its products, the Q-potencies) showed that homeopathically individualized Q-potencies were superior to placebo for fibromyalgia or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in children, and not inferior to the antidepressant fluoxetine in a sample of patients with moderate to severe depression. More studies using the clinical-pharmaceutical protocol of the Organon are of course needed, but so far its use by trained physicians have yield to challenging results, keeping up with what is recommended in most recent clinical textbooks for the treatment of some chronic diseases.

Homeopathy is a medical approach fit to the principles that guide the Brazilian public health policy and agrees with the new paradigm in pharmaceutical education, with the focus on the human condition.Thence the importance of the teaching of homeopathy in pharmacy undergraduate courses. This study aimed to analyze the models for the teaching of homeopathy in three Institutions of Superior Education (IES) in the State of Goiás and to verify its reflection on the level of knowledge on homeopathy expressed by the students. The study programs of the IES were analyzed and questionnaires were applied to students who had already attended homeopathy courses. The results allowed to verify that mistaken ideas on homeopathy were mainly expressed by the students who learned homeopathy as a subtopic of another more general subject. This variability in the models of homeopathy teaching may lead to qualitative diversity in the homeopathic understanding of the pharmacy professionals in the State of Goiás.

Abstract:
Homeopathy is widely recognized globally, including in Bangladesh, as part of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) acknowledged by the World Health Organization (WHO). It is noted for effectively treating various conditions without adverse effects, which has garnered significant interest. This recent study investigated the acceptance of homeopathic medicine among Bangladeshi people, surveying 157 respondents. The participants comprised of 64.3% males and 35.7% females; among them a large majority (88.5%) had at least a graduate-level education, and 72.6% belonged to middle-class families. Interestingly, middle-aged individuals (45.2%) showed a particular affinity for homeopathy. This study revealed a high awareness levels among the respondents, with 89.8% familiar with homeopathic medicine and 86.6% erudite about its utilization. In addition, safety was mentioned by 65.6% of respondents, affordability by 55.4%, and effectiveness in many cases by 44.9%. However, all the above points collectively influenced their preference for homeopathy. There was a consensus among 69.4% of respondents advocating for integrating homeopathy into mainstream healthcare. The study participants endorsed few ideas including ensuring quality control of homeopathic medicines, promoting research initiatives, and providing greater integration opportunities for homeopathic practitioners within the healthcare system. Abstract:
AbstractAmong homeopaths the common idea about a working hypothesis for homeopathic effects seems to be that, during the potentization process, ‘information’ or ‘energy’ is being preserved or even enhanced in homeopathic remedies. The organism is said to be able to pick up this information, which in turn will stimulate the organism into a self-healing response. According to this view the decisive element of homeopathic therapy is the remedy which locally contains and conveys this information. I question this view for empirical and theoretical reasons. Empirical research has shown a repetitive pattern, in fundamental and clinical research alike: there are many anomalies in high-dilution research and clinical homeopathic trials which will set any observing researcher thinking. But no single paradigm has proved stable enough in order to produce repeatable results independent of the researcher. I conclude that the database is too weak and contradictory to substantiate a local interpretation of homeopathy, in which the remedy is endowed with causal-informational content irrespective of the circumstances. I propose a non-local interpretation to understand the anomalies along the lines of Jung's notion of synchronicity and make some predictions following this analysis.

AbstractThe sharp increase of the prescription of methylphenidate (MPD) in hyperactive children in recent years is a matter of increasing uneasiness among professionals, parents and politicians. There is little awareness of treatment alternatives. The purpose of this prospective trial was to assess the efficacy of homeopathy in hyperactive patients and to compare it MPD. The study was performed in a paediatric practice with conventional and homeopathic backgrounds. Children aged 3–17 y, conforming to the DSM-IV criteria for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) with a Conners Global Index (CGI) of 14 or higher were eligible for the study. All of them received an individual homeopathic treatment. When clinical improvement reached 50%, the parents were asked to reevaluate the symptoms. Those who did not improve sufficiently on homeopathy were changed to MPD, and again evaluated after 3 months. One hundred and fifteen children (92 boys, 23 girls) with a mean age of 8.3 y at diagnosis were included in the study. Prior to treatment the mean CGI was 20.63 (14–30), the mean index of the homeopathy group 20.52 and of the MPD-group 20.94. After an average treatment time of 3.5 months 86 children (75%) had responded to homeopathy, reaching a clinical improvement rating of 73% and an amelioration of the CGI of 55%. Twenty-five children (22%) needed MPD; the average duration of homeopathic (pre-) treatment in this group was 22 months. Clinical improvement under MPD reached 65%, the lowering of the CGI 48%. Three children did not respond to homeopathy nor to MPD, and one left the study. In cases where treatment of a hyperactive child is not urgent, homeopathy is a valuable alternative to MPD. The reported results of homeopathic treatment appear to be similar to the effects of MPD. Only children who did not reach the high level of sensory integration for school had to be changed to MPD. In preschoolers, homeopathy appears a particularly useful treatment for ADHD.

From a scientific point of view, we did not receive an explanation mechanism of action of homeopathic dilutions of drugs, laid down in the concept of potentiation. In the light of the best available data to date there is no reason to include homeopathy in clinical guidelines for the treatment of patients with various diseases. Abstract:
Introduction: Alternative and complementary therapy systems, such as homeopathy, have long been used around the world. Since 1995 homeopathy has been officially recognized in Europe as a system of medicine or a medical specialty. Portuguese community pharmacists have long-standing experience with homeopathic products. By contrast, healthcare professionals in Turkey are less experienced with homeopathic practice although there is a new regulatory setting in place. There are a limited number of studies addressing pharmacists' role within the homeopathic system. Aim: To investigate the attitudes (knowledge, feelings and behaviour) of experienced Portuguese pharmacy practitioners who deal with homeopathy, and thus to inform Turkish pharmacy practice and policy on homeopathy-related success factors. Methods: A qualitative cross-sectional design was followed, using semi-structured and face-to-face individual interviews with purposively selected Portuguese pharmacists experienced with homeopathic medicines. Audio-recordings were transcribed verbatim and the transcriptions imported into QSR NVivo v10 software for qualitative coding and analysis. Using a thematic content approach, the extracted codes were grouped and indexed by recurrent themes through a reflective procedure and constant comparison. Results & discussion: Six general themes emerged, the most relevant being participants' feelings of gratitude for the ability to work in homeopathy; other themes were a helpful regulatory body, clear practice boundaries, scientific support and product quality assurance. Specialized homeopathic education was considered the most important factor for success. This was related to patients' positive perceptions and acceptance, suggesting an increase in public awareness through the pharmacy network. Conclusions: Portuguese pharmacists' attitudes towards their homeopathic practices highlighted the key elements for success in a field that is usually distant from traditional pharmaceutical education and practice. The present findings provide guidance for Turkish pharmacists willing to expand their professional scope and to embrace complementary medicines.

AbstractBovine mastitis is an important disease in dairy farming. As alternative therapy to antibiotics, whose use is seen as increasingly critical, farmer try to treat mastitis with homeopathy, for example. The present study examined i) whether homeopathic treatments for bovine mastitis can have positive treatment outcomes, ii) which treatments have been successful and under which conditions, iii) indications for future studies and applications for homeopathy to treat mastitis. 32 studies published to date have been evaluated. Assessment criteria and a rating score of 0 to 5 points were fixed for the appraisal. Healing and prophylaxis of mastitis were the primary focus to highlight the medication success and its framework for suitable mastitis therapy. The top eight studies of this quality ranking were subjected to differentiated evaluation. The selected studies showed a positive treatment outcome of homeopathy. Due to the homeopathic effect and the most used remedies in the selected studies, the medication should be chosen according to the homeopathic drug picture. With homeopathic drugs it was possible to reduce the antibiotic use by up to 75%. Some studies indicated that homeopathy might have a positive long-term effect. Furthermore, the results suggested a high self-healing ability in bovine mastitis.

Possible non-local components such as ‘generalised entanglement’ as the basis of the homeopathic phenomenon and experimental evidence for them. 3. The capability of highly diluted homeopathic remedies to provoke tangible biological changes in whole organisms and cellular experimental systems. 4. Abstract:
The world is changing! This is certainly true regarding the homeopathic practice and access to homeopathic medicine. Therefore our first priority at the ECH-LMHI [1] has been to produce a yearly report on the scientific framework of homeopathy. In the 2010 version a new chapter about epidemic diseases has been added including the Leptospirosis survey on the Cuban population. A second priority has been to review the definition of the homeopathic medicines respecting the new framework generated by the official registration procedure and the WHO report. We are working now on a documented (Materia Medica and provings) list of homeopathic remedies to facilitate the registration of our remedies. The new challenges are: first of all more good research proposals and as such more funding (possible through ISCHI + Blackie Foundation as examples) [2]; international acceptance of new guidelines for proving and clinical verification of homeopathic symptoms (Proposals are ready for discussion); total reconsideration of the homeopathic repertories including results of the clinical verification of the symptoms. The world is changing, we are part of the world and changes are needed also for homeopathy!

Abstract:
Pharmaceutical care is a concept already well established, but its application presents difficulties in homeopathy since homeopathic medicines have no the same indications as traditional drug classes. In recent decades the Brazilian Homeopathic Pharmacy presented a major development in the area of Pharmacotechnics, exemplified by the creation of local and national associations, the publication of technical texts and the fact that homeopathic medicines are, almost entirely, manipulated in pharmacies. It is also important to develop a pharmaceutical care in homeopathy, optimizing the activities of the medical homeopath and extending the service to the population. For two years, in a medical education and clinical service conducted at the Medical Faculty of Jundiaí, and supported by the Public Medical Service (SUS), three pharmacists and one pharmacy student, were responsible for pre and post consultation and dispensing of medicines. The objectives of this paper are to document the activities of pharmaceutical care, in order to encourage the activities of pharmacists in homeopathy. We developed a form for interviews as a pre-consultations. In the first consultation, it was used to record the identification data of the patient, the symptoms that brought him to the consultation, information about the presence of several physicians in the consultation and about the homeopathic treatment. In subsequent consultations, it was used to investigate the changes that have occurred since the last visit to the service. In post-consultation, the dispensation of the medication was done, with information about its use and conservation. The forms were given to the physicians and kept for future reference along with the clinical records of patients. As a result there was a positive reaction on the part of patients, probably because they felt more confident and instructed about the homeopathic treatment. The physicians referred in a positive manner about the help of pharmacists. Pharmacists have the opportunity to closely follow the changes in the health of patients, verifying the effectiveness of homeopathic treatment. The relationship between doctors and pharmacists developed in a positive way. Unfortunately, despite numerous cases of improvement of patients' symptoms, as well as its appreciation for homeopathic care, homeopathic service ended abruptly in the first half of 2011 due to lack of support from the Medical Faculty and public health service of that municipality, demonstrating once again the fragility of homeopathic services.

Abstract:
Classical homeopathy was shown to be beneficial in climacteric syndrome in many studies, but the clinical effect is unclear. To inspect if individualized classical homeopathy has a role in treating complaints after surgical menopause through real world case, we present a case of a 54-year-old Russian woman treated with individualized classical homeopathy for multimorbid conditions after surgical menopause examined for changes from homeopathic treatment. We assessed changes in climacteric symptoms, changes in comorbidities, and the general well-being of the patient. The woman had severe climacteric syndrome, pelvic inflammatory disease, dyslipidemia, obesity, hepatic steatosis, pancreatic lipomatosis, gall bladder disease, and mild subclinical hypothyroidism to begin with. She was treated with individualized classical homeopathy and followed up for 31 months. She was relieved of the vasomotor symptoms and psychological disturbances of climacteric syndrome, her weight reduced, the ultrasound scan showed absence of lipomatosis/gall bladder disease/hepatic steatosis. Blood tests showed reduction of thyroid stimulating hormone and a balance in the lipid status. Individualized classical homeopathy may have a role in the climacteric syndrome and comorbidities after surgical menopause. The efficacy of homeopathic therapy in climacteric problems must be scientifically investigated further.
