Abstract:
Fibry Jati Nugroho, Pastoral Assistance Holistic: A Proposed Conceptual Development Residents Church. A strong church is formed of a strong congregation. Strong congregation obtained from the pastoral care that actively touches the whole life of the churches. The Church should strive to develop a holistic pastoral care to the congregation. Various programs designed to be used to achieve a holistic pastoral care. Multiculture congregation accompanied by multiproblem, requiring pastoral agents set the strategy and create a model to be able to provide a holistic pastoral care services to the citizens of his church. The concept of holistic pastoral care of Howard Clinebell and Totok Wiryasaputra will help create a framework to analyze the development of church people holistically. The theoretical framework will be integrated with pastoral models developed by David Yonggi Cho's Yoido Full Gospel Church. The concept and model of pastoral care holistic support each other as well as a "scalpel" of pastoral care that is geared towards the empowerment of the laity effectiveness and small groups methods.

Abstract:
<p>A study program at a private higher education institution, namely CT, a transformational holistic education organization, implements an academic and non-academic guidance program through small groups called CARE Groups (CG). However, regardless of there being a CG program, there are still many cases of CT students breaking rules. These range from general cases to more severe ones that result in warning letters. The discrepancy found in the range of cases is the topic of this study, which focuses on the perspective of the CG leadership. The qualitative method of case study was utilized so that the data may be accurate and in-depth for analysis, in order for there to be further discussion. The three main findings that answered the problem formulated in this study were the description of strategies and CT efforts in equipping CG Leader (CGL), an explanation of the reasons for the emergence of cases among students, and the formulation of an ideal profile for a CGL.</p><p><strong>BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK:</strong> Sebuah program studi di suatu perguruan tinggi swasta, sebut saja CT, suatu lembaga pendidikan holistis yang transformasional menerapkan suatu program bimbingan akademik dan non-akademik berbentuk kelompok kecil bernama <em>CARE Group</em> (CG). Abstract:
Health can be interpreted not only as an important element of sustainable development. It is connected to its all the three pillars namely its environmental, economic and social dimension as well. Health can be found directly or indirectly in every goal related to sustainable development. Considering the importance of health, the aim of our research was to elaborate a holistic health conscious model encouraging sustainable development. Holistic health conscious model means a model including the physical, psychical and mental health of the individual. Furthermore, besides the responsibility of the individual environmental effects are also taken into account as well as the intervening factors. In addition, it integrates the aspect of sustainable development. In our research, first of all we were looking for the answer to the following (1) what kind of stakeholders play a role in developing health consciousness? (2) What is the role of individuals, the state, the companies and NGOs in developing health consciousness? The article presents the holistic health model which was created as a result of the empirical research.

Abstract:
The recent self-adaptive software systematic literature reviews stated clearly the following insufficiencies: (1) the need for a holistic self-adaptive software model to integrate its different aspects (2) The limitation of adaptations to context changes (3) The absence of a general and complete adaptations’ picture allowing its understandability, maintainability, evaluation, reuse, and variability. (4) The need for an explicit and a detailed link with resources, and (5) a usual limitation to known events. In order to metigate these insufficiencies, this paper is proposing a holistic model that integrates the operating, adaptations, and adaptations’ manager aspects. The proposed model covers all possible adaptations: operating (dealing with software functions failures), lifecycle (handling adaptations required by some software lifecycle steps), and context (facing context changes events). The presented work introduces the concept of software adaptations process integrating the specifications of all the above kind of adaptations. In fact, this work shows an explicit trace to its pure bio-inspired origin. An application of the proposed approach on a “car industry case study” demonstrated its feasibility in comparison with similar works that proved its meaningful added value and its promising research perspectives.

Nicolaou, Daina. "An holistic customer satisfaction model." Thesis, University of Warwick, 2007. http://wrap.warwick.ac.uk/1155/.

Full text
Abstract:
The thesis proposes an holistic customer satisfaction model that can be used as a metric for marketing performance evaluation. The hypotheses aim to develop an integrated customer satisfaction model that synthesizes customer satisfaction antecedents and consequences. The rationale behind this thesis and its relevant hypotheses is multi-faceted. Chiefly, customer satisfaction is considered as marketing's sine qua non; often cited, in the first pages of most of the best-selling marketing books, as the ultimate purpose of the marketing function and even as the short definition of marketing. As such, if there is one metric by which marketing performance should be evaluated with, it should be against its scope and how well it fulfils its goal. Customer satisfaction measurement is not an exact science by default mainly because it deals with human beings and their behaviour that is not only difficult to surface but also difficult to measure. This challenge translates into a plethora of customer satisfaction definitions, antecedents and consequences leading to reluctance to employ customer satisfaction formally for such a serious matter such as marketing performance evaluation and control. Thus, the thesis is a synthesis of prominent customer satisfaction models in an effort to integrate them into one, since the evaluation activity does take an holistic perspective whereas partial models pose the risk of losing synergies that may form in the whole. A multi-method approach is employed to arrive at the integrated customer satisfaction model to be used as a marketing performance metric, commencing with a rigorous review of available models in the literature, continuing with in depth interviews with company managers to understand the industry utilised for the research and content analysis of customer-completed questionnaires and also documents of voluntary expressed free-flow voice of customer (availa1?le online where customers rate companies). The latter consists of elaborate questionnaires completed by customers regarding the different elements of the model. Structural Equation Modelling is deployed to build and test the holistic model as it is the only technique that can simultaneously deal with antecedents and consequences. The first (literature review) and second (in-depth interviews with managers and content analysis of customers' reviews and opinions regarding their purchase experience) phases of the research revealed a massive 25-construct model for customer satisfaction with thirteen antecedents (expectations, performance, disconfirmation, service quality, value, dissonance, emotions/affect, equity, regret/rejoice, assimilation/contrast, attribution, recovery and justice) and eleven consequences (stated loyalty, switching, price tolerance, repurchase, share of wallet, trust, complimenting, complaining to the firm, complaining to a third party, positive and negative word of mouth). In order to test the model, in phase three, a survey questionnaire was designed and calibrated to collect data for analysis using LISREL. Thorough and strict CFA and SEM revealed that thirteen (eight antecedents: performance, disconfirmation, service quality, value, dissonance, emotions/affect, equity, regret/rejoice, and four consequences: trust, repurchase and positive and negative word of mouth) constructs constituted the holistic customer satisfaction model empirically verified in the present thesis.

Full text
Abstract:
Model driven product realization is an emerging methodology in industrial scenario. It focuses onusing 3D models in various formats to design, manufacture and inspect a product. The benefits ofthis methodology are improved cross functional interoperability, reliable modeling and simulation, optimized design decision making, improved performance predictability, strengthened collaborative environment and shortened development time. Currently the prominence of 2Ddrawings and its usage is still prevalent in the industries which results in under‐utilization of the presently available CAx systems leading to diminished productivity. This thesis is aimed to demonstrate the capabilities and impact of model driven approach to formulate an efficient product development methodology in a real industry scenario. For achieving the intent a prototype product is considered which is used in suspension system of the research concept vehicle developed by KTH transport labs. The scope includes the industrialization of the prototype resulting in new/final design, process plan, operation plan inspection plan and eventually a manufactured part using annotated 3D models at all stages. It also showcases the process and product feedback methodologies possible by this approach. The foundations for this demonstration are ISO 10303 standard and STEP (standard for the exchange of product model data) application protocols. These define the computer interpretable representation and exchange of product manufacturing information across various domains. There have been considerable advancements in these standards in recent years but a standard way of approaching the model driven product development does not exist. Hence this demonstration enables as a stepping stone for implementation of this approach in real world.

LaValley, Christopher Travis. "Holistic Model of Website Design Elements that Influence Trustworthiness." UNF Digital Commons, 2018. https://digitalcommons.unf.edu/etd/812.

Full text
Abstract:
Trustworthiness of a website relies foremost on a good first impression which includes the visitor’s perception of the user interface. The focus of this research is to investigate the effects of website design elements on user perception of trustworthiness of a site and provide a set of guidelines for website designers. The research design is based on Yosef Jabardeen’s (2009) “conceptual framework analysis”. In this research paper, a holistic model is developed to depict the relationships among website design elements and trustworthiness. The model was tested, validated and updated using the results of the repertory grid technique, a process that elicits perceptions about a topic from an individual. For this research, the topic was website trust, the objects were the website design elements, and the constructs were elicited perceptions regarding those website design elements. The repertory grid technique was applied in two stages to a set of participants made up of website users and website designers. Analysis yielded useful information regarding website design associations and correlations of perceptions. The research findings confirmed original suggestions regarding associations and produced an updated, validated model of website design elements. The research indicated that while all design elements had their importance regarding trust, those elements that provided for the function and security of the website rated the highest in importance and expectation. The validated model will aid website designers in understanding what elements are appealing to the visual senses and conjure credibility and trust. Most importantly, this new understanding may help designers to create websites that attract and retain new users and establishing a successful presence on the Internet.

Ricks, Esmeralda Jennifer. "A holistic healthcare model for higher education campus health services." Thesis, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, 2008. http://hdl.handle.net/10948/666.

Full text
Abstract:
Most students are adolescents and young adults, a group characterized by a new-found sense of independence, experimentation with sex and sometimes drugs and a feeling of invincibility (Gayle, Richard, Keeling, Garcia-Tunon, Kilbourne, Narkunas, Ingram, rogers and Curran, 1990:1538). These behavioural, developmental and environmental issues may contribute to premature morbidity, mortality and reduced quality of life for university students (Patrick et al., 1992:260). The ages of staff on the other hand range from young adults to retirement age. The types of health problems that exist among staff who use the campus health service include First Aid treatment on site for injuries on duty and more chronic health problems such as, for example, hypertension and diabetes mellitus. To date there is very little evidence as to whether or not the healthcare needs of students and staff are being met comprehensively or whether the practitioners rendering the service are knowledgeable and complying with the PHC norms and standards developed by the department of Health’s Quality Assurance Directorate. The lack of such empirical data can contribute to misconceptions and hamper the management of public health problems experienced in SA, for example sexually transmitted infections and the transmission of HIV. Thus the purpose of this research was to develop a model that would assist registered nurses employed at a higher education campus health service in the Western Region of the Eastern Cape Province to render a healthcare service relevant to the healthcare needs of the students and staff on campus.

Mihindu, S. "Holistic model for knowledge collaboration in scientific communities of practice." Thesis, University of Salford, 2010. http://usir.salford.ac.uk/26817/.

Full text
Abstract:
This research sets out to develop a holistic model for Knowledge Collaboration for scientific Communities of Practice (CoP). It, inter alia, investigates appropriate methods which support Knowledge Collaboration of Scientific Community of Practice (SCoP). It also identifies the main challenges associated with supporting Knowledge Collaboration and ways of addressing specific challenges in the development of a Knowledge Collaboration Environment (KCE) within SCoP. In addition, it establishes how individuals within CoP and groups associated with CoP create new knowledge in collaboration. The necessity for scientific communities to work as CoP has significantly risen in recent years. The requirement of standard collaboration and communication tools, and appropriate methodologies to author KCEs has been an important development for the success of Distributed Knowledge Collaboration (DKC) activities of scientific CoP. The study addresses key issues and gaps found in four different areas: understanding of knowledge and Knowledge Collaboration, KCEs, tools and techniques for supporting Knowledge Collaboration, and specific requirements of scientific communities. The thesis employed a multi-methodological approach in conducting the study, which included the use of questionnaire, workshop, observations, interviews, and focus groups in obtaining data on which the study was based. SCoP refers to those who employ the 'scientific method' for seeking, interrogating, and creating processes and systems in conducting and advancing their work. Knowledge Collaboration needs of SCoP are different to the needs of CoP as members of the SCoP come from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, and their involvement is with heterogeneous work environments. A holistic Knowledge System Model (KSM) and a live prototype to establish the requirements related to the facilitation of Knowledge Collaboration within a SCoP was developed and validated. This development utilises non-intrusive technologies to provide appropriate incorporation of collaboration tools within their work environment and the potential of multiple server integration. The KSM provides the required flexibility and configurability within a prospective Knowledge System due to its ability to fulfil specific needs of the SCoP. The study recommends that members of the SCoP require Knowledge Collaboration tools that can co-exist within their work environment but operate non-intrusively within their professional work setting. Virtual Infrastructure integration provides the required functionality to overcome the challenges of creating an appropriate KCE for realising successful collaboration. The KSM facilitates the development of appropriate KCE for SCoP. There is paramount value in embracing the holistic view of Knowledge Collaboration as defined through the Knowledge Collaboration terminology stack and vast potential in utilising non-intrusive client/server technology for DKC applications. The holistic model's flexibility provides timely provision of an acceptable KCE for community collaboration.

Abstract:
To develop holistic review processes, admission professionals are changing the ways they structure applications for undergraduate admissions. This study examines how the Stephen M. Ross School of Business (Ross School) at the University of Michigan requests, collects, and reviews portfolios of student work along with traditional application materials. The first section presents the rationale for the new holistic review process, the second shares insights it provides the Ross School, and the third details how admission professionals at the Ross School built it. The case illuminates the use of student-generated portfolios as one possible model for other higher education systems seeking to evolve their holistic admission processes.

Kinikles, Dellena, and John McCartney. Hyperbolic Hydro-mechanical Model for Seismic Compression Prediction of Unsaturated Soils in the Funicular Regime. Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center, University of California, Berkeley, CA, December 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.55461/yunw7668.

Full text
Abstract:
A semi-empirical elasto-plastic constitutive model with a hyperbolic stress-strain curve was developed with the goal of predicting the seismic compression of unsaturated sands in the funicular regime of the soil-water retention curve (SWRC) during undrained cyclic shearing. Using a flow rule derived from energy considerations, the evolution in plastic volumetric strain (seismic compression) was predicted from the plastic shear strains of the hysteretic hyperbolic stress-strain curve. The plastic volumetric strains are used to predict the changes in degree of saturation from phase relationships and changes in pore air pressure from Boyle’s and Henry’s laws. The degree of saturation was used to estimate changes in matric suction from the transient scanning paths of the SWRC. Changes in small-strain shear modulus estimated from changes in mean effective stress computed from the constant total stress and changes in pore air pressure, degree of saturation and matric suction, in turn affect the hyperbolic stress-strain curve’s shape and the evolution in plastic volumetric strain. The model was calibrated using experimental shear stress-strain backbone curves from drained cyclic simple shear tests and transient SWRC scanning path measurements from undrained cyclic simple shear tests. Then the model predictions were validated using experimental data from undrained cyclic simple shear tests on unsaturated sand specimens with different initial degrees of saturation in the funicular regime. While the model captured the coupled evolution in hydro-mechanical variables (pore air pressure, pore water pressure, matric suction, degree of saturation, volumetric strain, effective stress, shear modulus) well over the first 15 cycles of shearing, the predictions were less accurate after continued cyclic shearing up to 200 cycles. After large numbers of cycles of undrained shearing, a linear decreasing trend between seismic compression and initial degree of saturation was predicted from the model while a nonlinear increasing-decreasing trend was observed in the cyclic simple shear experiments. This discrepancy may be due to not considering post shearing reconsolidation in the model, calibration of model parameters, or experimental issues including a drift in the position of the hysteretic shear-stress strain curve. Nonetheless, the trend from the model is consistent with predictions from previously- developed empirical models in the funicular regime of the SWRC. The developments of the new mechanistic model developed in this study will play a key role in the future development of a holistic model for predicting the seismic compression across all regimes of the SWRC.

Socio-Emotional and Academic Learning Before and After COVID-19 School Closures: Evidence from Ethiopia. Research on Improving Systems of Education (RISE), November 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.35489/bsg-rise-wp_2021/082.

Full text
Abstract:
This paper presents the findings of research undertaken in Ethiopia to examine the effects of COVID-19 school closures on children’s holistic learning, including both socio-emotional and academic learning. It draws on data collected in 2019 (prior to the pandemic) and 2021 (after schools reopened) to compare primary pupils’ learning before and after the school closures. In particular, the study adapts self-reporting scales that have been used in related contexts to measure Grade 3 and 6 children’s social skills, self-efficacy, emotional regulation and mental health and wellbeing, along with literacy and numeracy. Lesson observations were also undertaken to explore teachers’ behaviours to foster socio-emotional learning (SEL) in the classroom. The findings advance current knowledge in several respects. First, they quantify the decline in Ethiopian pupils’ social skills over the period of the school closures. Second, they identify a significant and strong relationship between learners’ social skills and their numeracy, even after taking other factors into account. Third, they reveal a significant association between children’s social skills and their mental health and wellbeing, highlighting the importance of interpersonal interactions to safeguard children’s holistic welfare. The paper concludes by proposing a model for understanding the relationship between learners’ SEL and academic outcomes, and with recommendations for education planning and practice, in Ethiopia and elsewhere.

Atkinson, Dan, and Alex Hale, eds. From Source to Sea: ScARF Marine and Maritime Panel Report. Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, September 2012. http://dx.doi.org/10.9750/scarf.09.2012.126.

Full text
Abstract:
The main recommendations of the panel report can be summarised under four headings: 1. From Source to Sea: River systems, from their source to the sea and beyond, should form the focus for research projects, allowing the integration of all archaeological work carried out along their course. Future research should take a holistic view of the marine and maritime historic environment, from inland lakes that feed freshwater river routes, to tidal estuaries and out to the open sea. This view of the landscape/seascape encompasses a very broad range of archaeology and enables connections to be made without the restrictions of geographical or political boundaries. Research strategies, programmes From Source to Sea: ScARF Marine and Maritime Panel Report iii and projects can adopt this approach at multiple levels; from national to site-specific, with the aim of remaining holistic and cross-cutting. 2. Submerged Landscapes: The rising research profile of submerged landscapes has recently been embodied into a European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) Action; Submerged Prehistoric Archaeology and Landscapes of the Continental Shelf (SPLASHCOS), with exciting proposals for future research. Future work needs to be integrated with wider initiatives such as this on an international scale. Recent projects have begun to demonstrate the research potential for submerged landscapes in and beyond Scotland, as well as the need to collaborate with industrial partners, in order that commercially-created datasets can be accessed and used. More data is required in order to fully model the changing coastline around Scotland and develop predictive models of site survival. Such work is crucial to understanding life in early prehistoric Scotland, and how the earliest communities responded to a changing environment. 3. Marine & Maritime Historic Landscapes: Scotland’s coastal and intertidal zones and maritime hinterland encompass in-shore islands, trans-continental shipping lanes, ports and harbours, and transport infrastructure to intertidal fish-traps, and define understanding and conceptualisation of the liminal zone between the land and the sea. Due to the pervasive nature of the Marine and Maritime historic landscape, a holistic approach should be taken that incorporates evidence from a variety of sources including commercial and research archaeology, local and national societies, off-shore and onshore commercial development; and including studies derived from, but not limited to history, ethnology, cultural studies, folklore and architecture and involving a wide range of recording techniques ranging from photography, laser imaging, and sonar survey through to more orthodox drawn survey and excavation. 4. Collaboration: As is implicit in all the above, multi-disciplinary, collaborative, and cross-sector approaches are essential in order to ensure the capacity to meet the research challenges of the marine and maritime historic environment. There is a need for collaboration across the heritage sector and beyond, into specific areas of industry, science and the arts. Methods of communication amongst the constituent research individuals, institutions and networks should be developed, and dissemination of research results promoted. The formation of research communities, especially virtual centres of excellence, should be encouraged in order to build capacity.

Abstract:
Recent developments in transformative technologies hold the promise to provide holistic solutions for affordable transportation services to rural areas and thus greatly alleviate existing social inequality through efficient planning and management of complex transportation systems and systemwide interactions among multiple modes. To realize the promise, many challenging research questions need to be addressed, which often leads to computationally intractable, large-scale, dynamic/stochastic, discrete optimization models. This project proposes to address some of the challenges by building a series of holistic and tractable models on the design of mobility services, capacity planning, dynamic matching, and routing, as well as pricing. The proposed project is expected to create a new series of planning and management models that can support strategical and operational decisions for large-scale autonomous and shared mobility systems in rural areas. The planned case study and simulation for the Village of Rantoul, Illinois, will lay the foundation for future field implementation.
