Abstract:
Departing from an understanding of today’s liberal capitalist society as deeply concerned with individual growth through higher education, this paper aims to explain the well documented fact that working class students are underrepresented within the higher levels of the Swedish educational system. The study assumes that the prevailing recruitment pattern is created by informal societal structures influencing the individual decisions of would-be students. It then continues to explore the decision-making processes leading a number of students from working class backgrounds into higher education, as well as their experiences of navigating this new environment, in order to better understand the obstacles that this group need to overcome in order to enter the academic area. This is done through an analysis of semi- structured interviews, informed by the career choice theory of Careership. The reading shows that these student’s choice to enter higher education largely has been a pragmatic-rational one, driven more by the need to adapt to circumstances like a changing job market than social expectations to continue their education. The interviewed students often describe the process of entering this new arena as filled with feelings of inferiority and a sense of not belonging that seems to persist even after they acquire additional cultural capital in the form of knowledge and acceptable behaviors. The results of this study implies that a long-term approach towards reversing recruitment bias within higher education must start with the development of a full understanding of these and other challenges facing underrepresented groups.

Rådande föreställningar, förväntningar och normer bland högskolestudenter menas vara präglade av samhälleliga förändringar, varav det akademiska förhållningssättet till högre studier manifesteras annorlunda mot vad det tidigare har gjort (Arensmeier & Lennqvist Lindén, 2014). Detta hänvisas bland annat till de senaste decenniernas kraftigt ökade studentvolym och breddade rekrytering från tidigare underrepresenterade grupper (Universitetskanslersämbetet, 2018). Detta har i sin tur har följts av friktion i att mötet mellan studenter, lärare och utbildning som konsekvens av att tidigare etablerade förväntansstrukturer successivt omförhandlas (Olofsson, 2013), vilket menas vara präglat av negativa tendenser i förhållande till utbildningens kvalitet (Arensmeier & Lennqvist Lindén, 2014). Föreliggande studie syftade därmed till att studera hur problematiken kan förklaras i termer av akademiskt berättigande hos svenska högskolestudenter. Med en svensk översättning av Academic Entitlement Scale (Wasieleski et al., 2014) kartläggs potentiella förklaringsfaktorer genom åskådliggörande av dagens högskolestudenters attityd till högre utbildning. Resultatet erhöll underlag för preliminär validering av den svenska översättningen av Academic Entitlement Scale, vars reliabilitet uppmätte Cronbach’s α =.78 (n = 274) hos en svensk studentpopulation. Vidare indikerades ett signifikant negativt samband mellan akademiskt berättigande och studiemotiv, baserat på intresse inför ämnet studenten läser. Sammanfattningsvis framhåller studien att förklaringsfaktorer som bakomligger svenska studenters förhållningssätt till högre studier kan erhållas med hjälp av akademiskt berättigande, varav studiens diskussion förs kring resultatets möjliga implikationer samt hur framtida forskning förslagsvis kan bedrivas för att fortsatt undersöka området.
Current beliefs, expectations and norms among today's Swedish university students are meant to be characterized by the social changes, of which the academic approach to higher studies manifests differently to what it was done in the past (Arensmeier & Lennqvist Lindén, 2014). This is referred to the recent decades of increasing student volume and broadened recruitment from previously under-represented groups (Universitetskanslersämbetet, 2018). This has in turn been followed by friction in that the meeting between the pupil, teachers and education as a consequence of the earlier established expectation structure is gradually renegotiated (Olofsson, 2013), which is meant to be characterised by negative tendencies in relation to the education’s quality (Arensmeier & Lennqvist Lindén, 2014). The present study aimed to investigate how the problems can be explained in terms of Academic Entitlement among Swedish university students. With a Swedish translation of the Academic Entitlement Scale (Wasieleski et al., 2014), potential explanatory factors are pointed out by illustrating the current attitudes toward higher education among students. The result supported a preliminary validation of the Swedish translation of Academic Entitlement Scale, which reliability measured Cronbach’s α =.78 (n = 274) within a Swedish student population. Further on was an indication of a significant negative correlation between academic entitlement and study motives, based on interest regarding the subject which the student is involved in. In conclusion, the study gives prominence to that explaining factors underlaying Swedish students approach to higher studies can be obtained by using academic entitlement, of which the study’s discussion is conducted around the result’s possible implications as well as which course of action future research suggestively might apprehend in their further research of the field.

Abstract:
This essay is a qualitative case study about the Swedish university programme Music & Event Management (MEM). The programme is a part of the Linneaus University (LNU) and the education takes place at two different locations, the first half of the programme in the small town of Hultsfred and the remaining time in the city of Kalmar. The programme has existed since the year 2001. Since 2013 the number of applying students has decreased and this resulted in the decision that the programme will not accept any applications the year 2019. This study is of an abductive nature. Nine people from MEM and other similar programmes have been interviewed. Results have been made by analyzing and coding the empirical data collected in the interviews along with presented theories.   The purpose of this case study is to identify and analyze the possible causes behind the decreasing number of applying students and to find out which factors the programme and university can work with in order to turn this negative trend around. By doing so we hope to identify factors that other higher creative educational programmes, nished for a specific industry, can have in mind to avoid a decreasing number of applying students or when having this problem.   Our findings suggests that there are a number of different factors that can have an impact on the number of applications for this kind of education. Some of these factors are possible to avoid to some extent and some are not. We found that the world in which the education operates within can affect the attractivity of the programme, such as the economical situation and the ever changing industry that the programme is nished to. The educational content of the programme can also have great effect on whether or not students find the programme suitable for eventually working in the music industry, there is a choice of being a practical or academically focused programme. We also identified that the marketing is a crucial factor regarding the attractivity, how the programme presents itself for the students as a brand and how available the education is. We hope that our findings in this case study can help MEM and other programmes of this kind to prevent the problem of decreasing applications.

Abstract:
Sammanfattning Heder är ett omdiskuterat begrepp och det finns idag ingen renodlad definition vilket även är en anledning till svårigheten i att ange problemets extension. Därför är denna studies syfte att undersöka hur media idag framställer hedersrelaterad problematik. För att studera valda ämne analyserades tidningsartiklar publicerade år 2014 från ett urval av kvälls- och dagspress. Utgångspunkten för analysen av materialet är ett feministiskt perspektiv som utgår från antagandet om att kategorierna kvinnor och män, manligt och kvinnligt är socialt skapade och där fördelningen av makt och resurser är central. En fråga för vår analys blir därför om kategorierna kvinna och man också återspeglas som ojämlika dikotomier i media. För att analysera materialet har metoden kritisk diskursanalys samt tematisk analys använts och fokus har legat på en dominerande könsskillnadsdiskurs gällande män och kvinnor. Den kunskapsteoretiska utgångspunkten är socialkonstruktivistisk, vilket innebär att verkligheten är socialt konstruerad, subjektiv och föränderlig. Vid analysen av materialet fann vi att medias framställning av hedersproblematiken dominerades av begrepp så som kön, kultur, dominans och förtryck. Problematiken grundar sig enligt media i hederskulturer där mannens överordnade position tar sig uttryck i brottsliga handlingar och kvinnoförtryck. De brottsliga gärningarna sker ofta på grund av att kvinnan brutit mot hederskoden, dessa brott mot normerna som hederskulturen präglas av är enligt artiklarna anledningen till att våld, mord och andra övergrepp sker. Normerna antas vara starkt knutna till patriarkatet där män är överordnade och kvinnor är underordnade. Övergripande faller fler kvinnor offer men media lyfter även andra sociala kategorier som vanligtvis inte associeras till hedersproblematik vilket är väsentligt att belysa. Analysen visade även att media tenderar att framställa människor från en viss kultur som en kulturell produkt, då dessa människor tillskrivs snarlika egenskaper och handlingsmönster. ”Vi” och ”dem” är en uppdelning som görs i tidningsartiklarna, en uppdelning som skildras i framställningen att skapa ett jämställt ”vi” och ett patriarkalt ”dem”. Hedersvåldet mot kvinnor framställs utifrån en kulturantropologisk förklaringsmodell som också synliggör en viss etnocentrisk sida av media.

Syfte och problemformulering Syftet med uppsatsen är att studera hur förutsättningarna till inkomstomvandling skiljer sig mellan fåmansföretag. Vidare är syftet att studera hur statens syfte med 3:12-reglerna efterlevs. • Hur skiljer sig förutsättningarna till inkomstomvandling mellan fåmansföretag? • På vilket sätt efterlevs lagstiftarens syfte med 3:12-reglerna om sysselsättning, tillväxt och avkastning? Metod I uppsatsen tillämpas en kvalitativ studie gällande fåmansföretag och inkomstomvandling genom 3:12-reglerna. Semistrukturerade intervjuer har genomförts på nio respondenter, tre som verkar inom tjänstebranschen, tre inom tillverkningsbranschen och tre jurister. Ansatsen i uppsatsen är abduktiv, då den innefattar både deduktiva och induktiva bidrag. Resultat Resultatet i uppsatsen visar att förutsättningarna till inkomstomvandling skiljer sig mellan tjänste- och tillverkande företag, men att den stora skillnaden är mellan små- och stora företag. Resultatet visar även att statens syfte med införandet av 3:12 reglerna om ökad tillväxt, sysselsättning och avkastning i stora drag efterlevs.

Abstract:
The aim of this study is to describe the experience of social support among female elite athletes who combine handball with higher education, with the underlying purpose to describe these persons’ experience of the functions of the support. These functions are materialistic, informative and emotional. There are ten women in the ages 22 to 24 (M=23.1, S=0,83) participating in the study. The study uses a semi-structured interview, based on two articles that studied social support (Knight et al., 2018; Schaefer et al., 1981). The result was sorted in three categories: emotional support, materialistic support and informative support. The result showed that women experienced emotional support, especially affinity, in the dual career (DC). Materialistic support was experienced in terms of support thru adjustment from coach and university. However, materialistic support was also identified lacking. Lastly, informative support, in shape of information and guidance in dual career, was experienced missing.
Syftet med studien är att beskriva upplevelsen av socialt stöd hos kvinnliga elithandbollsspelare som kombinerar elitidrott med högre utbildning, med det underliggande syftet att beskriva dessa personers upplevelser av stödets funktioner, så som materiellt, informativt och känslomässigt. I studien deltog tio kvinnor i åldrarna 22-24 år (M=23,1, S=0,83). Studien använde en semistrukturerad intervju, som var baserad på två artiklar där socialt stöd studerats (Knight et al., 2018; Schaefer et al., 1981). Resultatet sorterades i tre kategorier; känslomässigt stöd, materiellt stöd och informativt stöd. Resultatet påvisar att kvinnorna upplevde känslomässigt stöd i dubbla karriären (DK), där framför allt samhörighet med andra upplevde stötta kvinnorna. Kvinnorna upplevde också materiellt stöd, i form av anpassningar från både tränare och universitet/högskolepersonal. Resultatet visar även att flera kvinnor upplevde att de saknade denna typ av materiellt stöd i deras DK. Till sist identifierades kvinnorna uppleva att de saknade även informativt stöd i form av vägledning och information i DK.
