Abstract:
What follows is a list — covering items published between 1900 and 1986 — of serious accounts of the history of important architectural projects undertaken in Ireland between the late seventeenth and early twentieth centuries. It is intended to be comprehensive in respect of monographs, collective works and articles in non-Irish periodicals, but in respect of Irish periodicals it is a supplement to Richard J. Hayes, Sources for the history of Irish civilisation: articles in Irish periodicals (9 vols, Boston, 1970). None of the above definitions is rigidly adhered to: much is included which falls outside their limits, but an attempt has been made to include everything that falls within them. The following have not been comprehensively included: (1) Monographs on non-resident architects whose careers, notwithstanding Irish commissions, were mainly abroad, e.g. Robert Adam, G.E. Street, Edwin Lutyens. This is partly because such architects are so numerous (there is evidence of over a hundred British architects having professional contacts with Ireland between 1750 and 1850) and partly because they are already well served bibliographically, e.g. by Howard Colvin, A biographical dictionary of British architects, 1600–1840 (London, 1978); (2) studies of the foreign careers of Irish architects, e.g. James Hoban, Eileen Gray; (3) studies of vernacular architecture (but see entry under this heading in the index); (4) contemporary reviews or criticism of buildings; (5) reviews of books; (6) printed primary sources, such as J.T. Gilbert, Calendar of ancient records of Dublin… (19 vols, Dublin, 1889–1944).

Abstract:
A provisional bibliography about Asian martial arts periodicals published in Spain from 1961, first journal’s publication date, to 2009 is presented. Asian martial arts journals were just included for preparing this bibliography. Main public documentary centres as well as personal archives were visited for information searching and data mining. Analysis process was complex due to the scarce number of this kind of publications collected in public institutions. 66 periodicals were discovered and several useful elements were detailed for their description and documentary analysis (title, type of publication, period, frequency, issues, editor, place of publication, ISSN and a brief explanation of their editorial line). Despite its provisional character, this bibliography shows the great amount and variety of data contained in these periodicals, turning into a relevant resource for studying the martial arts’ history in Spain.

Abstract:
The author presents the Bibliography of Periodicals of 'The Independent State of Croatia' (ISC) 1941 -1945, which was compiled in the former Archive for the History of Labour Movement in Zagreb and whose one copy is kept in The Museum of Srem in Sremska Mitrovica (Historical Section, Collection of Documents, reg. no 1615/62). The authors of the Bibliography particularly underlined that it includes 'all periodical journals and publications published in the territory of ISC', and that the material 'was for internal use only'. The majority of the listed periodical publications is kept in the University Library in Zagreb (237), and the remaining ones (44) in different libraries in the Republic of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Most of these publications are printed in the Croatian language, and a smaller number in German and Italian languages. One publication was published in the Hungarian language. All publications were printed in the Latin script and none of them in the Cyrillic script, even though the Serbs, whose primary script it was, at the beginning made half of the population of 'The Independent State of Croatia'. In the Ustashas' ISC the Cyrillic script was forbidden, and the Serbs underwent a genocide. This Bibliography - which does not include a single publication with the adjective 'Serbian' - testifies about that. .

Literature on Finnish art can be sought via the national bibliography and periodicals indexes and a bibliography of Finnish history; these bibliographies are available as databases as well as in printed form and on microfiche. A working party on art libraries is looking into ways of widening bibliographical control of art literature. The publications themselves, and unpublished information, can be found in libraries and archives of several kinds, from the Library of Helsinki University to the libraries and archives of colleges of art and architecture, museums, and artists’ associations. Many of these organisations are active in gathering and publishing information. The Fine Arts Academy of Finland administers the Art Musum of the Ateneum, Finland’s national gallery, and maintains extensive collections of visual resources, exhibition catalogues, periodicals, and press clippings.

Abstract:
The study of the history of librarianship is an urgent task of modern historical and library research. Its solution is possible if a large number of historical sources are identified and analysed. One of them is the pre-revolutionary journal “Librarian”, which differs from other periodicals of that time by its high informative content on the topic. Due to the lack of comprehensive studies of the “Librarian” journal as a historical source, this article for the first time considers this pre-revolutionary professional periodical as a source for studying the history of librarianship in Siberia and the Far East of the pre-revolutionary period. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyse the informative potential of the “Librarian” journal, which is useful for the reconstruction of the history of librarianship in Siberia and the Far East. The methodological basis of the research is based on the principles of historicism, objectivity and consistency. The article uses the methods of source studies, comparative and content analysis. The obtained results show that the journal “Librarian” is an important source for studying the history of librarianship in the Siberian-Far Eastern region. It contains numerous interesting facts about the libraries of the region, their structure and functioning, allows us to identify the sources of their financing and quantitative indicators of work, trace their dynamics, replenish the regional bibliography of special literature and restore the names of benefactors, Siberians and Far Easterners — members of the Society of Library Science. This study fully reveals the informative potential of this periodical, expands the idea of periodicals as important historical sources for the study of the history of librarianship of the country as a whole and its various regions. It can be useful in conducting specific historical studies of librarianship of the country of the pre-revolutionary period.

The Association of Serbian Singing Societies in Sombor started the magazine ?Gusle? in May 1911. It was a monthly magazine with each issue sixteen pages long. In the introductory place in each issue ?Gusle? brought extensive texts dedicated to the problems in the work of Serbian singing societies. One column followed the work of the Association, and one brought news from the life of singing societies. The magazine was concluded by notes and advertisements. The out?break of the First World War stopped the publication of this magazine. The last issue was published in April 1914. This is the first study dedicated to the magazine ?Gusle?, its structure, content and ideological profile. Full text
Abstract:
Liturgical chant bibliography 12 maintains the traditional division into: (1) Editions and facsimile editions, (2) Books and reprints, (3) Congress reports, (4) Chant journals, (5) Collections of essays and dictionaries, (6) Articles in periodicals and Festschriften. Additions to previous bibliographies, consisting mainly of reviews, follow the present introduction. A significant publication in 2002 was without doubt the colour facsimile of the manuscript Paris, Bibliothèque nationale de France, fonds lat. 776 (12002), an eleventh-century gradual from the Benedictine abbey of Saint-Michel-de-Gaillac near Albi. Although no staff lines are present, the music is notated carefully in diastematic notation. The availability of a facsimile of this famous manuscript will certainly be of value for the study of semiology and the transmission history of tropes, proses and prosulae. It also contains traces of the Gallican and Mozarabic chant repertories.

Abstract:
The publications of the Research Institute for Press Studies were examined for the presence in them of information about the pseudonyms of Ukrainian journalists, editors, publishers, publicists and biographical information about the creators and authors of Ukrainian periodicals; the quantitative parameters of these data are established. It is emphasized that the largest array of biographical information, as well as data on the used pseudonyms, is contained in the materials for the encyclopedic dictionary «Ukrainska zhurnalistyka v imenakh». It is noted that the professional yearbook is also an extremely important source of pseudonymous signatures «Zbirnyk prats Naukovo-doslidnoho instytutu presoznavstva», reports and announcements of twelve scientific and practical conferences «Ukrainska periodyka: istoriia i suchasnist», historical and bibliographic studies «Ukrainska presa v Ukraini ta sviti XIX–XX st.» and «Ukrainski chasopysy Lvova 1848–1939», materials for the bibliography of «Periodyka Zakhidnoi Ukrainy 20–30-kh rr. XX st.», as well as numerous monographs and press research works carried out at the Research Institute for Press Studies. It was established that, in general, biographical information about more than 5,500 people involved in the creation of Ukrainian periodicals of the 19th–21st centuries, and about 9,000 of their pseudonyms, is recorded on the pages of these press studies publications. It is emphasized that this significant array of data, systematized and analyzed, served as the basis for the creation of the «Slovnyk psevdonimiv ukrainskykh avtoriv XIX – XXI st.», which is extremely important not only for the history of Ukrainian periodicals and press studies in general, but also for literary studies, history, biography and prosopography. Keywords: publications of the Research Institute for Press Studies, pseudonyms of Ukrainian authors, biographical materials, historical and bibliographical research, Ukrainian periodicals, dictionary of pseudonyms.

Abstract:
From November 1939 to March 1941, the monthly magazine ?Slavenska muzika?, a journal of the Association of Friends of Slavic Music, was published in Belgrade. The magazine did not differ from other Serbian magazines of the interwar period in its sections. ?Slavic music? also published essays on music, music criticism, reviews of books and music editions, notes, news, obituaries, and in one case, polemics. However, differentia specifica of this review is the exclusive focus on the music of the Slavic nations. The study provides a review and analysis of the texts in this journal. It was noticed that in ?Slavic music? were crossed the Slavophile idea, which has a long tradition among Serbs, and Marxism, at that time strongly represented by one part of Belgrade musicians. The study also contains an integral bibliography of ?Slavic music?, which has not been published so far.

AbstractThis chapter has five sections: 1: Periodicals; 2. Editions; 3. Bibliography and Associated Books and Articles; 4. Histories and Companions; 5. Shakespeare, History of Libraries, Collections, and Miscellaneous including Reference Materials. These sections are not inviolable. With some exceptions this review of the year’s work published in 2017 in the areas of bibliography, textual criticism, and reference materials is alphabetically arranged. Within the alphabetical arrangement by author there are some exceptions where publications are grouped under the respective authors rather than under editors of, for instance, the correspondence. There is also included in this chapter work that has been missed in some of the other chapters in this volume. Readers should be aware that coverage is largely limited to those items that have been received by the contributor, who would like to thank James E. May, James Fergusson, Patrick Scott, and Jan Webster for their assistance.

Full text
Abstract:
The author reviewed the bibliography of performing arts medicine, from the beginnings of the specialty in the early 1980s to the present. Emphasis was placed on articles published in the last five full years reviewed (1997-2001). From a total of 5,550 references dating back more than 200 years, 1,366 were found in the 1997-2001 period. Nearly 82% were written in English, with French- and German-language articles comprising more than 90% of the rest. Within the study group, there were 972 music medicine references (71.2%) and 301 for dance medicine (22.0%). Scientific journals and books were the source of more than 70% of all articles found, with four performing arts medicine journals accounting for more than half of these. However, pertinent references were found in 279 different periodicals, as well as in a variety of textbooks. Of all arts-related periodicals, those pertaining to voice were most likely to contain health-related articles. Variations from year to year in total number of references, sources of references, and frequency of specific topics could be attributed to publication of texts with multiple chapter authors, journals containing multiple abstracts from a meeting, or journals with papers on a single topic derived from one symposium. It is expected that these statistics will continue to vary as new entries are added in future years. The data from this investigation should be useful to both researchers and clinicians in performing arts medicine, regarding both the sources of pertinent information and the authors and topics currently being published.

Abstract:
Sir Lewis Namier (1888–1960) was not only a major twentieth-century historian, a pioneer of ‘scientific history’ who gave his name to a particular form of history-writing, but an important public intellectual. He played a significant role in public affairs, as an influential adviser to the British Foreign Office during the First World War and later as an active Zionist. This article offers a new perspective on his life and work by providing, for the first time, as comprehensive a bibliography as is currently possible of his voluminous writings: books, scholarly articles and contributions to periodicals and newspapers, including many hitherto unknown, and some published anonymously. The annotation includes not only bibliographical information but explanations and brief summaries of the content. The introduction gives an account of Namier’s life and an assessment of his significance as a historian and thinker.

Abstract:
This is the second consecutive 5-year review of the performing arts medicine bibliography, emphasizing articles published from 2002 through 2006. It combines with an earlier 5-year review, published in 2003 and covering 1997 to 2001, to review the last 10 years' literature in performing arts medicine. From a total of 8,412 references dating back more than 200 years, 2,030 were found in the study period. Nearly 85% of these were written in English, with French and German language articles comprising more than 87% of the rest. Within the study group, there were 1,438 music medicine references (70.8%) and 458 for dance medicine (22.6%). Scientific journals and books were the source of more than 62% of all articles, with five performing arts medicine journals accounting for more than 40% of these. However, pertinent references were found in 381 different periodicals, as well as in a variety of textbooks. Of all arts-related periodicals, those pertaining to voice and dance were most likely to contain health-related articles. Variations in the total number of references, sources of references, and frequency of specific topics occurred from year to year, and from the first study period to the second. These often can be attributed to publication of journals containing multiple abstracts from a meeting or journals with papers on a single topic—often derived from one symposium. Based on a comparison of the two 5-year reporting periods, these statistics will continue to vary as new entries are added in future years. The data from this investigation should be useful to both researchers and clinicians in performing arts medicine, regarding both the sources of pertinent information and the authors and topics currently being published.
