Abstract:
The soft-start process of high voltage power supply (HVPS) based on pulse step modulation (PSM) for ECRH on EAST is introduced, which is the first procedure of system operation. The response process is detailed by proposing DC equivalent circuit model, process analysis and performance comparison is given under the conditions of different soft-start resistor parameters, and the theoretical analysis is proved by the simulation package ANSYS Simplorer simulations. The soft-start resistor is designed for the HVPS of 140GHz ECRH system for a smooth charging without overshoot of the capacitor[6], and the final experimental results show that it is in agreement with the theoretical analysis and is stable and reliable to the power devices.

Abstract A new method of power feedback control for the lower hybrid wave (LHW) systems on the experimental advanced superconducting tokamak (EAST) is presented. Different methods are applied to control the power of two LHW systems with different frequency at 2.45 GHz and at 4.6 GHz, respectively. The old method is applied to control the 4.6 GHz LHW power through the exciter of klystrons, and the new one is used to control the 2.45 GHz LHW power through the high voltage power supply (HVPS) system. The new method has been applied in EAST and successfully assisted the development of relevant experiments such as loop voltage control, q profile control.

Abstract:
Abstract The COMPASS RICH-1 detector underwent major upgrade in 2016 with the installation of four novel MPGD-based photon detectors. They consist of large-size hybrid MPGDs with multi-layer architecture composed of two layers of Thick-GEMs and bulk resistive Micromegas. A dedicated high voltage power supply system, realized with commercial devices, has been put in operation to protect the detectors against errors by the operator, monitor and log voltages and currents at a 1 Hz rate, and automatically react to detector misbehavior; it includes also the HV compensation for the detector gas pressure and temperature variations. The needs posed to the high voltage power supply systems by the operation of Micro Pattern Gaseous Detectors pushed the development of a novel single channel HV system able to overcome the performance of the commercial devices in terms of high-resolution diagnostic features and intelligent dynamic voltage control. In this talk the COMPASS HV system and its performance are illustrated, as well as the stability of the novel MPGD-based photon detectors during the physics data taking at COMPASS. The performance of the novel single channel power supply system when connected to a single photon Micro Pattern Gaseous Detector is presented in realistic working condition during a test beam with the preliminary results of multiple channels operation.

This paper analyzes the reason that the common thyristor trigger is unable to fulfill power supply in wide range changes of frequency. The high precise frequency/voltage converter is used to monitor and track frequency changes of the simultaneous power supply. The simultaneous signal and charge current source are provided by the converter for saw tooth wave trigger. The frequency of saw tooth wave changes as the same time the frequency of power supply changes in wide range. However, the amplitude of the saw tooth wave can be kept constant. This can achieve the controlled angle of the thyristor trigger does not change with the large-scale voltage frequency changes of the simultaneous power supply when the same Phase-shifted control voltage was used.

Abstract:
In this article a novel scheme of high power mid-frequency pulse power supply is proposed. The supply is made up of two major stages. First stage is dual interleaved buck chopper stage in order to make the DC bus and output pulse voltage controllable. Second stage is a inverter converting the DC voltage into a series of square AC voltage pulse. IGBT module(300A-1200V) is used as the main switch device for the proposed supply is a high power application. As we know large capacity power IGBT module can hardly work as high as 40Khz[1], so to solve this problem, interleaved control scheme is incorporated. Basic ideas are to share the total switching losses. To combine several converters working under certain sequence is the key point. Final output pulse frequency is 20-40Khz,voltage level is 0-800V, and pulse width is 0-90% changeable. The whole system is concise effective. Experimental results verified the feasibility of abovementioned power supply.

Abstract:
This paper presents the design and implementation of a miniaturized high-voltage power supply with power factor correction (PFC) for atmospheric-pressure plasma jet (APPJ) applications. The sinusoidal output frequency and voltage of the power supply can be controlled independently from 16 to 24 kHz and from 1 to 10 kVpeak, respectively. A helium APPJ load is used to assess the performance of the developed power supply. It is shown that the developed high-voltage power supply operates effectively, and the designed PFC converter improves the input current distortion of the power supply. Not only the power factor of the power supply is increased from 0.41 to 0.95, but it also provides a low-ripple DC voltage, which reduces the high-voltage ripple of the output from 730 to 50 Vp-p. In this paper, the proposed design integrates the PFC converter into the high-voltage power supply so that the developed power supply has better electrical characteristics and the overall power supply can be significantly miniaturized.

Abstract:
Research on nanofiber materials is actively done around the world today. Various types of nanofibers have been synthesized using an electrospinning technique. The most important component when synthesizing nanofibers using the electrospinning technique is a DC high voltage power supply. Some requirements must be fulfilled by the high voltage power supply, i.e., it must be adjustable and its output voltage reaches tens of kilovolts. This paper discusses the design and development of a high voltage power supply using a diode-split transformer (DST)-type high voltage flyback transformer (HVFBT). The DST HVFBT was chosen because of its simplicity, compactness, inexpensiveness, and easiness of finding it. A pulse-width modulation (PWM) circuit with controlling frequency and duty cycle was fed to the DST HVFBT. The high voltage power supply was characterized by the frequency and duty cycle dependences of its output voltage. Experimental results showed that the frequency and duty cycle affect the output voltage. The output voltage could be set from 1 to 18 kV by changing the duty cycle. Therefore, the nanofibers could be synthesized by employing the developed high voltage power supply.

Developing a robust and reliable high-voltage (HV) pulse power system (PPS) is essential for the characterization and testing of microwave tubes and industrial applications. This paper presents the design, simulation, and implementation of a modular and versatile high-voltage pulse power supply used in microwave device characterization and testing. A microcontroller-based digitally controlled pulse generation unit is also developed to generate the trigger pulses for high-voltage switching modules to control the turn-ON and turn-OFF of the switching devices. The digitally controlled pulse generation unit provides better resolution of pulse width, pulse repetition frequency, and system protection over the entire range of operations. The pulse generation and control circuit controls the pulse repetition frequency (PRF) and pulse wide (PW). The PRF and PW can be varied from 100 to 1000 Hz and 10 to 100 µs, respectively. The experimental prototype with ten series-connected high-voltage modules is connected to achieve a 25 kV pulsed output voltage. The experimental results of HV-PPS on a resistive dummy load and 5 GHz klystron tube are presented in this work.

Abstract:
There is higher harmonics and electromagnetic interference caused by high-power-density switching power supply during high-frequency and normal operations which affects power quality of switching power supply and also impacts the environment. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a dual digital signal processor (DSP) controller suitable for unified power quality regulators and designs high-power-density switching power supply control system for promoting green environment. The overall structure of the system is divided into two parts, the power main circuit and the control circuit. In the main power circuit, the electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter is used to filter the input AC voltage and convert it into a stable DC voltage. A high-frequency inverter is used to invert the DC voltage into a high-frequency AC voltage to achieve harmonic control and reactive power compensation. In the control circuit, dual DSP controller is used to improve real-time detection, control of the output voltage, and current and driver temperature of the high-power-density switching power supply, while high-precision analysis and processing system collect different information and then achieve the power quality control of the switching power supply based on system software to keep this environment green. The experimental results suggest that the harmonic content of the experimental objects controlled by the system is reduced by 16.7% compared with the existing power quality control and the absolute error of the system is less than 0.02 V which improves the de-noising performance. The power generation systems require that the consumption of natural resources and renewable energy solutions can assist in saving the natural resources.

Abstract:
Gaseous exhausts from various industries pollute the environment with fly-ash generally filtered by electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) before being released to the atmosphere. This paper presents the development of a controller for ESP power supply. The controller maintains the voltage applied to ESP at its maximum average value by duty cycle control that results in an improvement in dust collection-efficiency. The limiting factor for the output voltage is the breakdown of gas (spark/arc) in the electrode gap of ESP. During a spark/arc condition, the duty cycle limit imposed by the controller causes a reduction in output voltage that leads to the prevention of spark/arc. The present design has a response faster than line frequency power supply controllers. The control circuit is simpler, easy to implement and uses a standard PWM controller IC. The design of power stage uses a flyback current-fed push-pull DC-DC converter with multiple secondary circuits, which has the advantages of instantaneous current limit and less voltage stress on rectifier-diodes. Simulation is performed to obtain a 1 kV, 100 W output from a 24VDC source. The results are compared with experimental values to validate the controller’s ability to achieve good load regulation during normal operation and a reduction in output voltage during spark/arc condition.

Based on the need to develop and test the products, a single phase DSPbased programmable AC power supply is designed. The power supply is capable of providing a stable AC voltage with adjustable amplitude and frequency over a wide range. Moreover, it can generate various high quality and low frequency arbitrary waveforms. Because of the advantages above, it will have great value in practice and a promising future in testing field. The main circuit of the power supply is to use rectifier and filter to make 220V AC voltage become steady DC voltage firstly. Then the inverter and the LC LPF are employed to produce the AC voltage which is required in the test system. The key part of the inverter is phase shift full bridge.

Abstract:
High-power plasma power supply is very useful for many industrial and medical applications. Plasma is generated artificially in the laboratory or industry by applying the electric or magnetic field. In this manuscript, we presented the simple 4T analog MOS control high voltage high frequency inverter circuit as a plasma power supply using modulation index technique. The presented plasma power supply operated at 25 kHz frequency and 10 kV peak to peak voltage. It generates a 0 V to 10 kV controllable electric field. The generated electric field is applied and produces plasma, which can be used for many industrial applications. A 10 kV to 5 kW plasma power supply has been practically developed based on the proposed topology and experimentally tested and, additionally, excellent output power conversion efficiency is achieved. From these results, the 4T analog MOS control high voltage high frequency (HVHF) plasma switching power supply is verified.

Abstract:
A high voltage with a very short duration and fast rising time is beneficial to generate uniform and diffuse plasma in dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) loads, and a power supply with a high power factor (PF) can reduce the impact on the power grid. According to two requirements, a unipolar high voltage pulsed power supply with power factor correction (PFC) is proposed in this paper. The power supply consists of a unipolar pulse high voltage generating unit, a PFC unit, and a driving circuit. By introducing a feedback clamping diode and a reverse current blocking diode in a flyback converter, repetitive nanosecond pulses are generated in the unipolar pulse high voltage generating unit. Because a discontinuous current mode strategy is adopted in the PFC unit and the driving signal is shared by the two units, a compact structure of the power supply is achieved, and a high PF is obtained. To validate the proposed pulsed power supply, an experimental setup is built for a DBD excimer lamp. The results show that the proposed power supply has the capability of not only providing a unipolar nanosecond pulse high voltage for the DBD excimer lamp but also achieving PF close to 1 and total harmonic distortion of less than 24%.

Abstract:
The article presents a novel design of a microwave chaotic oscillator. The oscillator contains an inertial converter for the nonlinear amplifier output signal that modulates the supply voltage of the transistor. When the inertia of the converter becomes less than 0.06, the oscillator demonstrates chaotic behavior. We present an experimental model of a chaotic oscillator based on a high power transistor 2T982A-2. The inertial converter circuit contains a diode that perform half-wave conversion of a part of the output signal and a RC circuit with a time constant equal to 0.05 of the duration of an oscillation at the central frequency of the oscillator. The output signal of the inertial converter has been applied to the emitter power supply circuit of the transistor. Modulation of the supply voltage caused the output signal of the oscillator to become a sequence of non-repeating oscillation trains with a random duration and initial phase. The frequency band of the generated chaos with an uneven power spectrum of 4 dB was in a range from 3.1 to 3.3 GHz with an integrated power of 1.2 W. The averaged spectral density of noise oscillations was 6 10-3 W / MHz. Efficiency of the oscillator was 15%.

High-power electromagnetic transmitter power supply is an important part of deep geophysical exploration equipment, especially in complex environments, where how to control the high accuracy and stable output of the power supply as well as the redundancy safety of the system become the key issue in its designing. A triple-loop control including inner current loop, outer voltage loop and load current forward feedback and a digitalized voltage/current sharing control method are proposed for the realization of the rapid, stable and highly accurate output of the system. System simulation and field geological exploration experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the control method which could ensure both the systems excellent stability and the outputs accuracy.
