Abstract:
Pagrindiniai žodžiai: hermeneutika, genealogija, tradicija, ontologija, valia galiai.Towards a New Account of Hermeneutics: Genealogy versus Hermeneutics Andrius Bielskis SummaryThe essay analyses the difference between Hans-Georg Gadamer’s and Alasdair MacIntyre’s conceptions of hermeneutic philosophy, on the one hand, and Nietzschean genealogy, on the other. It argues that Ricoeur’s famous distinction between ‘hermeneutics of faith’ and ‘hermeneutics of suspicion’ in the light of the ontological reading of Nietzsche’s genealogy is misleading. Rather than trying to understand Nietzsche’s philosophy as the hermeneutics of suspicion, it is more accurate to see Nietzsche’s and Foucault’s interpretive philosophy in terms of genealogy. The contrast between Gadamerian hermeneutics and Nietzschean genealogy, the one hand, as well as reading Gadamer hermeneutics in the light of MacIntyre’s conception of tradition-constituted and tradition-constitutive philosophical inquiry, on the other, allow us to formulate an alternative conception of hermeneutics. The essay argues that hermeneutics is inevitably linked to tradition: hermeneutics depend on and draws its moral and intellectual resources from tradition as well as determines and continues tradition further. Keywords: Hermeneutics, genealogy, tradition, ontology, will to power.: Calibri, sans-serif;">

Hermeneutics and Nihilism, or on the “Lithuanian” Identity of PhilosophyRita Šerpytytė Summary The article deals with the hermeneutical tradition in Lithuanian philosophy. The issue of the contemporary hermeneutical thinking conclusions is analysed. The aim of the article is to disclose the different pos sibilities of interpreting the ontological hermeneutics in Lithuanian philosophy. The article discusses textes of Arūnas Sverdiolas, the main representative of hermeneutical thinking in Lithuanian philosophy. The so-called “urbanization” of Heidegger’s province, made by Sverdiolas in Lithuanian philosophy, is juxtaposed to another “possibility” – “materialization” of Heidegger’s province, impersonated by such different Lithuanian philosophers as A. Šliogeris and T. Sodeika. The article concludes with a discussion of the relationship between hermeneutics and nihilism in G. Vartimo’s philosophy. The insight of this relationship disables the possibility of “whatever” identity of philosophy. Abstract:
Kata-kata Kunci: Anthony Thiselton, hermeneutika alkitabiah, peleburan-peleburan horizon, kompleksitas konteks budaya, hermeneutika kontekstual English : The classic problem in biblical hermeneutics is how to bridge the gap between the ancient cultural context of the biblical texts and the modern cultural context of the reader. One of the approaches proposed to deal with this issue is the model of the fusion of horizons that is later on developed by Anthony Thiselton with his fusions of two horizons. Albeit comprehensive and severe in bridging the gap, his mono-cultural (Western) approach to the context has not yet answered the challenge from cross-cultural anthropology, especially the complexity of the culture of the modern reader characterized by varied, multi-layered and cross-culturally. The approach thus needs to consider a hermeneutical approach that is more sensitive to that complexity as addition into or compliment to the fusions of horizons approach (addenda hermeneutica). Abstract:
Abstract The issue of anxiety has been thoroughly debated in Kierkegaardian scholarship from multiple standpoints and traditions, but not so much when it comes to the hermeneutic undertone. This article is primarily concerned with tackling the concept of anxiety as a hermeneutical concept, or working with it through hermeneutical lenses; nevertheless, the implications go deeper—making a case for an original hermeneutic anxiety, an agonistic trait of hermeneutics. By exploring the hermeneutical dimensions of the Kierkegaardian anxiety we unravel a whole genealogy of the agonistic phenomena—a hermeneutical way that thrives in the paradox. The scope of it all is to break with the conciliatory ways of an epistemic hermeneutics, by regaining the Kierkegaardian hermeneutics of anxiety: preferring the fertile struggle over the passionless synthesis, paradox over soundness and agony over apathy.

Abstract:
This study explores the communication articulations of Hans-Georg Gadamer’s hermeneutics. The research method that was used is a mix between the meta-analytic method, comparative method and hermeneutic method. It starts from the assumption that in order to understand the communication universe, this has to be judged in relation with some pre-determined axes. The corpus of analysis is hermeneutical work of Gadamer. We prove that, founder of the philosophical hermeneutics, Gadamer is also one of the founders of communication hermeneutics. The thetic articulation radiography of the Gadamerian work highlights that activities of hermeneutics inevitably occur within communication; communication includes strong interpretive-hermeneutic flows. Gadamer considers the interpretation as an intrinsic process of communication: no communication can exist without interpretation. The work reveals as main elements of Gadamerian hermeneutic conception of communication: universality of interpretation (of reason, language and understanding), hermeneutical situation (addressing, fusion of horizons), the principle and the canon of interpretation.

Abstract:
Petr Pokorný (1933-2020) was a long-time professor of New Testament at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of Charles University in Prague. He authored a number of books and studies in which he dealt directly and indirectly with hermeneutical issues important for the proper understanding and reliable interpretation of the biblical text. In 2005, in collaboration with 12 other authors, he published a kind of hermeneutical compendium, or rather a modality of the hermeneutical approach to Scripture, entitled Hermeneutics as a Theory of Understanding from Basic Questions of Language to the Interpretation of the Bible (508 pages). Part of Pokorný's Hermeneutics (pp. 17-215) was published in 2011 in the English translation Hermeneutics as a Theory of Understanding. Pokorný did not intend to present the traditional history of hermeneutics or to create a foundational theoretical work. As he notes, he was initially inspired by Paul Ricoeur and his hermeneutical practice, but developed his own stance based on his own understanding of the problems of interpreting Scripture and his critical reflections. He admits that he does not address some of the issues of hermeneutics and that there are several ways to process the material of hermeneutics. Therefore, his work can be considered as hermeneutic modalities rather than a finished compact hermeneutic work. Nevertheless, in Professor Pokorný we can read a lot of useful and rich material from different areas of hermeneutics, such as: Language as a coding system, symbol and metaphor, text between tradition and future, reader and text, genre, various methods of interpretation, strangeness and attractiveness of texts, history and revelation, revelation and testimony, etc. Based on this hermeneutical set and other exegetical works, the reviewer attempts to highlight these modalities and provide a definable picture of Pokorný hermeneutical approaches and procedures.

Abstract:
Hermeneutic phenomenology is a research method used in qualitative research in the fields of education and other human sciences, for example nursing science. It is a widely used method example in Scandinavia, and Van Manen is well known for his hermeneutic phenomenological method. In many studies the hermeneutic phenomenological method is inarticulate or ambiguous. Researchers generally lack a common understanding of what this method actually is. One reason for that is that the expression “hermeneutic phenomenological method” is contradiction in terms. Hermeneutics and phenomenology have their own distinct history. Hermeneutics and phenomenology as philosophical disciplines have their own distinct aims and orientations. Hermeneutic is orientated to historical and relative meanings. Phenomenology in Husserlian sense is orientated to universal and absolute essences. Martin Heidegger connects hermeneutics and phenomenology in very sophisticated manner as hermeneutical phenomenology and he provides a very specific definition of his brand of phenomenology. For Heidegger, hermeneutical phenomenology is the research of the meaning of the Being as a fundamental ontology. However, this kind of phenomenology is of no use for educational qualitative research.

Abstract:
Emilio Betti versus Hans-Georg Gadamer: the Dilemma of Hermeneutical Understanding of MeaningArūnas MickevičiusSummaryThe paper aims to define the terms used by Emilio Betti, explicate the basic attitudes and the essential problems of his methodical hermeneutics, and highlight fundamental differences and disagreements between Betti’s “methodical hermeneutics” and Hans-Georg Gadamer’s “philosophical hermeneutics”. Betti came to the indictment that Gadamer turned the objective meaning of the author to subjective and historical significance which had led to relativism. The paper first argues that objective meaning of the author or the “autonomy of the object”, against the will of Betti, disappears and moves to the realm of consciousness of the interpreter. When Betti claimed, emphasizing “autonomy of the object”, that objectivity of the “alien spirit” is achieved through the interpreter’s congeniality, he has not strengthened but weakened the autonomy of the spirit. Second, Betti is wrong in stating that Gadamer’s interpreter, referring to the “anticipation of the fullness”, occupies the monopoly of the truth of which he becomes the instance of ownership or control. Third, Betti is wrong in stating that Gadamer’s “philosophical hermeneutics” denies the autonomy of the object, and thus leads to relativism. Gadamer’s “philosophical hermeneutics” provides the autonomy of the text not only with respect to the interpreter, but also with respect to the creativity of the author and the primary reader. Fourth, the article states that the effect of Gadamer’s hermeneutical understanding is that it does not subjectively distort the meaning of truth or objectivity, as Betti wanted to show, but expands and exposes the subjectivity of interpretation – as a legitimate or illegitimate – with respect to what has been written or said. Keywords: interpretation, understanding, meaning, E. <p><em>This paper aims to analyze the impact of Derrida's theory of deconstruction in relation to the application of contemporary Christian hermeneutics as well as an attempt at hermeneutical repositioning. The methodological approach used in this paper is descriptive qualitative with instruments of literature study, comparison and textual analysis. Concretely, critical analysis is carried out in stages of deconstruction theory, various phenomena of contemporary Christian hermeneutics, then presents the idea of Christian hermeneutics as a comparative model and discourse criticism. Meanwhile, the body of the writing is divided into three parts according to the analysis pattern. First, it specifically examines Derrida's theory of deconstruction. Second, it is an analysis of several forms of hermeneutic phenomena and discourse of Christian theology which are currently developing. Third, reviewing the Christian hermeneutic discourse from the evangelical perspective in an effort to reposition, criticize, and test discourse on the contemporary worldview. Through this research, distortions were found in hermeneutic studies and contemporary Christian discourse with several forms of deconstruction approaches. The three explicit patterns used are the hermeneutic application of binary negation to conservative theological discourse, the explicit emphasis on the textual eisegesis model and the post-structuralism approach to interpretation..</em><strong></strong></p><p><strong>Key words: </strong>Dekonstruksi, hermeneutika, oposisi biner, semantic, interpretasi biblis</p>

Abstract:
Over the past few decades, the relationship between film and philosophy has been an object of an intense debate among film scholars, revitalizing some basic theoretical questions about cinematic representations and their meanings. As a result of this debate, many recent works in film philosophy, adopting the approach identified with the term 'Film as Philosophy' (FaP), have considered film as capable of its own philosophical thought. from this specific research perspective, the thesis proposed a new methodological strategy in maintaining FaP. The main aim of this thesis is to develop a hermeneutic method for the interpretation of film philosophical thinking. Starting from the fundamental relationship between film and filmgoer, the proposed method is founded on the concept of the film world. This concept is particularly effective because it identifies the film both as a world to be percieved, which emotionally involved the filmgoer, and as a world to be interpreted, which calls for a philosophical enquiry into its meanings. Moving from the theoretical perspective of phenomenological hermeneutics, combining Merleau-Ponty's and Ricoeur's philosophies, and reconsidering Goodman's theory of worldmaking, the film world becomes the hermeneutic horizon from which film philosophical thought can emerge. The definition of the method proceeds via a detailed examination of Ricoeur's philosophical thought, especially with regard to his hermeneutics of text and logic hermeneutics. Ricoeur's hermeneutic methodology has the potential to provide a valuable resource for film studies by inviting scholars to consider film interpretation in terms of film world hermeneutics, but only on the condition that an open and self-critical dialogue with different perspectives is part of the interpretive process.

Abstract:
Thesis advisor: David M. Rasmussen
Hans-Georg Gadamer and Paul Ricoeur have each proposed remarkably similar hermeneutic approaches to the interpretation of texts. They both approach hermeneutics starting from particular insights in Husserl's and Heidegger's respective phenomenologies. They both are wary of the claims of the need for objectivity to provide adequate interpretations of texts. They both turn to Plato and Aristotle to provide models and insights for the interpretation of texts. Gadamer and Ricoeur both devote considerable attention to the critique of prior significant figures in hermeneutics. They both utilize and exploit the difference between the structures and elements of a language and the actual use and expressions made in that language for the purpose of explaining how meaning is created. For all their similarities, there are differences between the hermeneutic approaches and theories of Gadamer and Ricoeur. One significant difference between the two is the attitude that each thinker takes toward tradition or dogma. Gadamer approaches prior interpretive contexts, i.e., tradition, in a manner that privileges their capacity to provide viewpoints to adequately and effectively interpret texts. Ricoeur, on the other hand, eyes tradition more critically. His research into many of the human sciences and their methodological and philosophical foundations leads to a greater awareness and acceptance of the possible deceptive and misleading capacities of tradition. This difference in attitude toward tradition expresses itself clearly in another difference between the two thinkers. Gadamer, unlike Ricoeur, is unwilling to accept the inclusion of methodologies and insights of the human sciences within the purview of hermeneutics. Gadamer argues that such an inclusion would be anathema to the hermeneutic and philosophical project. Ricoeur, on the other hand, argues that the inclusion of these insights leads to a broadening of hermeneutic resources and to the continued relevance of hermeneutics to the philosophical project. The inclusion of the insights of the human sciences within hermeneutics also points to another significant difference between Gadamer and Ricoeur. Ricoeur argues that the determination of the meaning of a text must always be achieved through a detour to a viewpoint that lies outside the text. There must be some distance between the text and interpreter if the interpreter is to provide an adequate interpretation. Ricoeur recognizes that this demand would seem to place him in the camp of those hermeneutists who demand objectivity for acceptable interpretation. Ricoeur provides a convincing defense against this charge. Gadamer, on the other hand, argues that any move outside of that of the text serves to impose an interpretation upon it that is not sensitive or authentic to it. For Gadamer, recourse to an interpretive viewpoint outside of the text is merely a capitulation to the methodologies of control and domination of positivism and scientism. In this dissertation I explore the similarities and differences among the theories of Gadamer and Ricoeur. I explore the similarities and differences that some commentators of Gadamer and Ricoeur have found. I provide a detailed examination of Gadamer's pivotal work Truth and Method. I consider Gadamer's assessments of prior hermeneutical figures, like Schleiermacher and Dilthey, and Gadamer's proposals for an alternative approach to hermeneutical interpretation. I also examine two of Ricoeur's significant works: The Conflict of Interpretations and Time and Narrative. In a short, but dense, article Ricoeur speaks directly to what he perceives to be the difference between his work and that of Gadamer and Habermas. Through the analysis of these three works, I hope to demonstrate how Ricoeur's hermeneutical theory is both similar to and different from Gadamer's. I argue that Ricoeur's hermeneutics provides resources to address some of the weaknesses present in Gadamer's thought, particularly Gadamer's assessment of the reliability of tradition for the interpretation of texts

The present work is situated in the field of philosophy of education and has got as its guiding theme the contributions that hermeneutics can provide for the debates in the area of pedagogy, especially in the reflection on learning processes and human formation. From this point on, we try to show how this current of thought can offer a critical perspective concerning those Universalist theories, which appear in Modernity, so that we can put in question fundamental notions such as subjectivity and rationality. Hence, we try to make clear in which way hermeneutics represents not just an alternative, but also a turning point in the understanding of educational processes, for it puts in check fundamental presuppositions, which are intrinsic to the ideas of subjectivity and rationality. In our work, we also try to think about the contributions that hermeneutics can bring to the search for non-hegemonic narratives in education, so that we can have in view a wider understanding of the plurality of discourses involved in learning processes.

Karabuschenko, Pavel. Political hermeneutics. ru: INFRA-M Academic Publishing LLC., 2020. http://dx.doi.org/10.12737/995431.

Full text
Abstract:
The monograph is devoted to the problem of formation and development of this branch of the division of hermeneutics as a political hermeneutics. Considered as the very origins of this hermeneutic stemming directly from the history of classical hermeneutics (Chapter 1) and its methodological principles (Chapter 2) and application characteristics (Chapter 3). It is from this triad (history — theory — practice) by the author and displayed the Foundation of political hermeneutics, which seems to them as the "deep method" study of the essence of the political elites and elitism and is characterized as a methodological division of lithologie to uncover the political "backstage" as the main sphere of professional activity of non-public elites. In the formation of hermeneutical understanding, it is important to clarify the internal relationship of this triad as a "language — word — text". The author consistently reveals the idea that language is expressed in the word exactly the same as the word in the text, which in turn is designed for disclosure in another language and in another word (in the "I — don't-Ya"). Designed for students and professionals; anyone interested in the problems of political consciousness and thinking of the elites.

Full text
Abstract:
This chapter aims to show why the philosophical study of technology cannot be limited to phenomenology, but necessarily requires a hermeneutic approach. By elucidating the relation between phenomenology and hermeneutics, Romele criticizes the idealist tendencies in Husserlian phenomenology, as well as the ontological hermeneutics developed by Heidegger and Gadamer. The chapter instead advocates an ontic and pragmatic hermeneutic approach. Turning this approach to philosophy of technology, Romele argues that the ‘material hermeneutics’ as practiced in postphenomenology falls short and unmasks it as ‘material idealism’. Notwithstanding its self-professed ‘empirical’ interest in ‘the things themselves’, such idealism jettisons everything about the appearance of things that cannot be captured in terms of ‘technological mediation’, thus ignoring the sphere of symbolic, social, and cultural mediations that always already shape how ‘the things themselves’ are and can be interpreted. The chapter closes by illustrating how a hermeneutic phenomenology of technology opens to a multidisciplinary political hermeneutics of technology.

Abstract:
In the philosophy of architecture, phenomenological aesthetics has acquired particular relevance. It focuses on the problems of perception, atmospheres, and physicality. However, along with phenomenology, the hermeneutics of architecture plays an equally important role. The purpose of this report is to identify the common starting positions of phenomenological aesthetics and hermeneutics in the analysis of architecture; to point out the various tasks of the phenomenology and hermeneutics of architecture. Phenomenology starts from the description of space and its impact on a person. Hermeneutics proceeds from the experience of understanding space as reading and simultaneous self-understanding by a person of himself. The hermeneutic formulation of the question of the space of architecture in the future goes beyond the boundaries of the original experience of perception, expands the problem of understanding to the problem of multi ple interpretations and historicity of meaning.

A living understanding (according to Losev) of the topic studied in the lesson for the student is associated with the personal experience (according to Stanislavsky) of its semantic context. The individuality of the tempo/rhythm of this process guarantees the emotionality of the student's mastering of the studied. To provide teachers with the ability to design such a “lesson direction” from the situational-business conjugations of theatrical, hermeneutic and pedagogical spheres of professional activity, drama hermeneutics arose in didactics. Switch super task of which is to provide teachers with a system of figurative prompts: which of the well-known methodological techniques it makes sense to involve in their next lessons, building out of them one of the modern versions of the “hermeneutic procedure”.

Special attention is paid to the importance of fashion for different categories of people and its place in the formation and linguistic awareness of the cultural picture of the world. What is its power and why is the phenomenon noticed by such philosophers as G. bloomer, J. Baudrillard or R. Barth? Fashion is a cultural phenomenon that affects the formation of values and forms a factor in the socio-cultural life of society. Fashion manifests itself through verbal forms, but it can also influence the spiritual world of a person, being a source of various cultural norms.

Ivanyshyn, Petro. BASIC CONCEPTS OF YEVHEN MALANIUK’S NATIONAL-PHILOSOPHICAL INTERPRETATION: ESEISTIC DISCOURSE. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, February 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.30970/vjo.2021.49.11070.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of the research is to outline the structure of the main methodological ideas within the frames of interpretive thinking in the essay of the famous Vistnyk’s writer, critic and essayist Yevhen Malaniuk. Considering the purpose and tasks of the studio, an interdisciplinary methodological base, related to the author’s “national approach”, has been worked out. The epistemological potential of national philosophy as a philosophy of national existence, national science as a theory of nation, hermeneutics as a theory and practice of interpretation and post-colonialism as interpretation of cultural phenomena from the standpoint of anti- and post-imperial consciousness are used in the work. The scientific novelty is that on the basis of the previous hermeneutic generalization and definition of national-existential methodology, a propaedeutic outlining of the structure of national-philosophical concepts within the frames of the essayistic interpretation of reality in Ye. Malaniuk is proposed. In the methodological sense, the writer’s essayism is structured by such concepts as nation-centrism, idealism, voluntarism, heroism, and can be considered as one of the variants (close by the experiences of D. Dontsov, Yu. Lypa, M. Mukhyn, etc.) of the Vistnyk’s national-philosophical (national-existential, nationalistic or nation-centric) hermeneutics, that is, the way of understanding, which the author by himself outlined as a “national approach”. The support of Ye. Malaniuk as a culture-philosopher and exegete on the eternal nation-centric values and criteria in his essayistic studies makes his reflections not only historically interesting, but also theoretically productive, classically important for the development of modern Ukrainian hermeneutics and humanities in general.

Abstract:
COVID-19 was a great challenge for Orthodox Christians worldwide. As all natural disasters in modernity, the pandemic was explained and combatted on the basis of science. There could be no doubt that death, pain, suffering, despair, imprisonment (the quarantine can indeed be experienced as an imprisonment) are opportunities for the Church to bear witness to Christ. To be ashamed of one’s vulnerability and to neglect the communal aspect of suffering means to render oneself less capable of bearing witness. Hence, it is important to find the conceptual ground for calibrating the truthful reaction to the pandemic in terms of the Christian ethos. To achieve this, we need the proper interpretative lens through which to examine the disaster of the pandemic.

Abstract:
The article continues, for the first time in English in domestic science, to study the question of the need to create a new scientific theory – the theory of mass information. For the first time too raises the question of creating, in a place of the current theory of mass communication, a system of sciences including: a) mass information (shpuld be created now in rpoh of mass information), b) the theory of mass understanding (has created as a hermeneutics of the masses), c) the theory of mass communication (has created as a theory of the transfer of content) and the theory of mass emotions (started to create in 2017). This is a paradoxical situation – the absence of fundamental theory of mass information in the epoch of mass information. Researches in the scientific works of foreign mass communication also showed the absence of a holistic theory, as well as attempts to create it, even the lack of decisions on the need to create it as a new scientific field.

Abstract:
Eliciting lived experiences, we seek to identify those experiences that have shaped the lived practice of a career and desire to answer: (1) How have experiences informed a career? (2) What does the lived educational experiences of an educator portend for the future of education? This inquiry incorporates the lived past experiences of the co-authors. Additionally, we seek to offer a path forward for the future of the profession that we love and have been grateful to experience. This data was part of a hermeneutic inquiry research project involving myself and my father, Dr. Leonard L. Gregory. The data was recorded utilizing a phone recording and then setting up a zoom meeting whereby the audio was converted onto a word document. From there, the data was uploaded into Dedoose where it was stored and coded for initial themes. The journal entries that I made were from a personal print copy journal. I utilized this journal after the initial round of recordings with my father. I used it to jot down questions that I had from the previous meeting, and we utilized it to make notations of thoughts that we both had afterwards from the meetings we had. The text Conducting Hermeneutic Research: From philosophy to Practice by Nancy J. Moules, et al., was a key influence and outlines the use of my data according to hermeneutic standards.

Full text
Abstract:
China is the subject of Western criticism for its supposed disregard of the rules-based international order. Such a charge implies that China is unilateralist. The aim in this study is to explain how China does in fact have a multilateral approach to international relations. China’s core idea of a community of shared future of humanity shows that it is aware of the need for a universal foundation for world order. The Research Report focuses on explaining the Chinese approach to multilateralism from its own internal perspective, with Chinese philosophy and history shaping its view of the nature of rules, rights, law, and of institutions which should shape relationships. A number of case studies show how the Chinese perspectives are implemented, such as with regards to development finance, infrastructure projects (especially the Belt and Road Initiative), shaping new international organisations (such as the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank), climate change, cyber-regulation and Chinese participation in the United Nations in the field of human rights and peacekeeping. Looking at critical Western opinion of this activity, we find speculation around Chinese motives. This is why a major emphasis is placed on a hermeneutic approach to China which explains how it sees its intentions. The heart of the Research Report is an exploration of the underlying Chinese philosophy of rulemaking, undertaken in a comparative perspective to show how far it resembles or differs from the Western philosophy of rulemaking.

Abstract:
The purpose of the study is to identify the figurative means in the formal diplomatic texts of speeches of chief delegates of the Ukrainian SSR to exert influence at the sessions of the UN General Assembly. Based on the interpretive method of speech analysis and the method of generalisation of the data obtained, an attempt was made to identify the main figurative means and expressiveness of speech, which help to achieve the effect of influence on the reader (listener). In order to identify hidden meanings, a hermeneutic approach to understanding texts was used. According to the results of the study, the most actively used linguistic means of figurativeness in the considered texts are epithets, metaphors, phraseologies. There are many more negative epithets used in the texts of speeches than positive ones, which aim to make people aware of the idea of self-preservation, to arouse emotions of anxiety, fear, vigilance. Metaphors of positive and negative evaluation are used to verbalise mental states, social states and thought processes. Most of the epithets, metaphors, idioms represented in the text are used to denote a negative evaluation, which is perceived as a deviation from the norm and is motivated by the following factors: the reluctance of people to take positive action, irresponsible attitude of some people towards others, socially unacceptable flaws and shortcomings. A logical continuation of this study is the analysis of linguistic means of figurativeness and evaluativity of other types of texts of the official style, including statements and conventions.
