Abstract:
The world is suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic. Nature has thrown a new challenge towards the healthcare professionals in the form of this new virus. As if that was not enough, we found an extremely rare, interesting and challenging case of mesenteric immature teratoma in this pandemic. Teratomas take origin from totipotent cells and may give rise to neoplasms that contain, in a helter-skelter fashion, bits of bone, epithelium, muscles, fat, nerves and other tissues. They are usually smaller than 10 cm, with cystic space, which is filled with a thick sebaceous secretion containing matted hair and sometimes teeth protruding from a nodular projection, which are unbrushed and may be carious. Though the usual sites are ovaries, occasionally testes, extragonadal sites may be affected. Classically the teratoma originates in the midline position. But in the abdomen, it usually takes the position of one of the paravertebral gutters, as in the present case, perhaps due to its size and weight of the solid part of the constituent elements. Due to its rarity it deserves the attention of the world and therefore we present to u this interesting case.

Abstract:
AbstractThis article presents a detailed study of an early section of the actual works and days of Hesiod's Works and Days. The treatment consistently eschews obsolete assumptions about this poem, in particular that it reduces to a didactic presentation to the early Greek farmer. A key principle of the method followed is to pay closer attention to the text's relation to epic forms than has been typical among the poem's commentators. The result is to find that a certain literary figure gradually develops in the section discussed. Namely, the plowing nominally covered there stands for the section's portion on the human condition, a condition implicitly compared with that associated with traditional epic. The figure evokes a well-rounded person, aware of the divine and of the world's uncertainties, with a long-term sense of purpose involving good organization of one's life, as opposed to someone engaged in helter-skelter pursuit of transitory activities, perhaps war specifically. With this identification of virtual protagonist established by the end of the section, the ground is prepared for any further development of the figure as that entity's undertakings or adventures in the remainder of the poem.

Abstract:
Abstract We have simultaneously screened for new alleles and second site mutations that fail to complement five cell cycle mutations of Drosophila carried on a single third chromosome (gnu, polo, mgr, asp, stg). Females that are either transheterozygous for scott of the antartic (scant) and polo, or homozygous for scant produce embryos that show mitotic defects. A maternal effect upon embryonic mitoses is also seen in embryos derived from females transheterozygous with helter skelter (hsk) and either mgr or asp. deopatra (cleo), fails to complement asp but is not uncovered by a deficiency for asp. The mitotic phenotype of larvae heterozygous for cleo and the multiple mutant chromosome is similar to weak alleles of asp, but there are no defects in male meiosis. Mutations that failed to complement stgfell into two complementation groups corresponding to stg and a new gene noose. Three of the new stg alleles are early zygotic lethals, whereas the fourth is a pharate adult lethal allele that affects both mitosis and meiosis. Mutations in noose fully complement a small deficiency that removes stg, but when placed in trans to certain stg alleles, result in late lethality and mitotic abnormalities in larval brains.

Abstract:
Elias Berdos had not yet reached the age of fourteen when he arrived in the United States in the first decade of the twentieth century. Three weeks after debarking, he applied to Tremont and Suffolk Mills in Lowell, Massachusetts and was put to work in the textile factory's spinning room, tending the mules as many boys his age did. Inexperienced at factory labor and unable to speak English, he ventured forth into the helter-skelter world of a cotton mill. About four weeks later, Elias stood in the spinning room, waiting for the workday to begin. With his back turned to the machinery, he rested his hand on a guard that covered the spinning frame's gears. When his hand slipped into the rotating metal, Elias joined the tens of thousands of workers injured in the process of American industrialization. Like many of those workers, Elias and his family sued the company for damages, but unlike many of his fellow laborers, Elias relied on Massachusetts's statutory prohibitions against child labor to maintain a cause of action. Losing in the lower courts, Elias appealed to the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts. His case led the court to examine the development of child labor law in Massachusetts, looking into both its statutory genesis and legislative intent.

Abstract:
Eugene (Gene) Kohn is one of the founders of Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, or KPF. As the firm's website puts it, he has been responsible for developing ‘a global strategy that has made the firm into a global player’. Some idea of the scale of the operation may be gained from the fact that they are presently working in sixteen different cities in China and that their completed work there includes the world's third and fourth highest buildings (Shanghai World Financial Center, 2008, at 492 metres and the International Commerce Centre in Hong Kong, 2010, at 484 metres). By comparison, their spiralling Pinnacle building, on site in London just a mile from where I meet Gene Kohn, is a baby at 288 metres, though still comfortably within the world's tallest 100. Such league tables go with the territory. So it seems do jolly nicknames – such as Helter Skelter (for the Pinnacle), Shard, Walkie-Talkie, Cheese Grater and Gherkin – whose kindergarten quality belies the highly competitive market they represent for architects and their clients as well as their users. As a business, KPF itself was successful almost as soon as it opened its doors in 1976. The timing and manner of that beginning are revealing. Kohn's partners were both good friends but chosen for different reasons, in the case of Sheldon Fox because he was, as Kohn told me, ’more of a manager, a fine architect but extremely conservative … I thought it would be good if somebody who wasn't like me shared the balance‘ [with Bill Pedersen]

Abstract:
ENGELSK ABSTRACT: Rolf Lyneborg Lund and Trond Beldo Klausen: A Long Way to Go: Social Background and Students’ Age at Danish Universities The high age at graduation of Danish university students has been on the political agenda during the last decade. International research has shown that mature students are a less socially selected group than younger students, but virtually nothing is known about social origin and students’ age in Denmark. This article investigates the association between social origin and students’ age based on data from administrative registers. This data allows us to differentiate between graduation age and gap years. A framework of social inequality is used to analyze students’ own reasons for choosing gap years, which is contrary to most research in this field. The results show a fairly strong association between social origin and graduation age. Descendants of urban living highly educated married parents with high earnings are more likely to attain a master’s degree at a younger age than decedents of rural living single parents with low education and low earnings. However, there is virtually no significant association between social origin and gap years, and the reasons for choosing to have one or more gap years do not vary between students of different social origin. Keywords: graduation age, gap years, higher education, social inequality, social class.
