Abstract:
Viele Hotels in Schierke stehen seit Ende des 19./Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts leer. Um ein attraktives und besucherreiches Hotel zu entwerfen, besteht die Aufgabe darin, das unbewohnte Hotel „Heinrich Heine“ als Vier-Sterne-Hotel zu entwickeln. Für den Entwurf wurden zwei Analysen durchgeführt. In der ersten Analyse war eine Stadt zu wählen, die eine enge Bedeutung und Bezug zur Stadt Schierke hat, damit die touristische Infrastruktur analysiert werden kann. Das Ziel der zweiten Analyse bestand darin, ein Hotel zu finden, welches sich sehr gut in die bestehende Umgebung (entweder Alpen oder Bergort) einpasst. Außerdem wurde ein Hotel gesucht, welches sich an den Prinzipien der Nachhaltigkeit orientiert. Am Ende wurde der Grundgedanke und das Grundkonzept eines Passivhauses favorisiert. Vor Beginn des Entwurfs fand ein Workshop in Schierke statt, bei dem jede Gruppe Ideen für die Gestaltung eines Ortsentwicklungskonzepts (Masterplan) für die Stadt diskutierte und entwickelte. Aus dieser Idee heraus, ist es wichtig, das Hotelprofil und die Zielgruppe miteinander zu verbinden. Auf Grundlage der Analysen und des Masterplans für die Entwicklung der Stadt wurde ein Entwurf für das Hotel Heinrich Heine erarbeitet. Eckpunkte für die Entwicklung des Projekts waren ebenso die Analyse des Grundstücks, historische Aspekte des Hotels, die Funktionalität, Materialität, Fassade und Aspekte, wie Barrierefreiheit und Nachhaltigkeit.

Abstract:
Heinrich Baryphonus (1581-1655) and Heinrich Grimm’s (1592/3-1637) didactic treatise, Pleiades musicae (1615/1630), provides a vivid testimony to the state of music education and music theory pedagogy in Protestant Germany in the early seventeenth century. Published initially by Baryphonus for use at the Gymnasium in Quedlinburg and reissued in an expanded format by Grimm for use at the Gymnasium in Magdeburg, the text examines the fundamentals of pitch, intervals, counterpoint, and, in the second edition, triadic theory and composition. Throughout the remainder of the seventeenth century and into the eighteenth century, music theorists including Johann Andreas Herbst (1588-1666), Otto Gibel (1612-1682), and Andreas Werckmeister (1645-1706), used the document as a source for their own musical writings, solidifying its status as a significant contribution to the field of music theory. Recently, scholars such as Carl Dahlhaus, Benito Rivera, and Joel Lester have found value in Pleiades musicae for its role in the early stages of the development of triadic theory and the emergence of harmonic tonality. However, with the exception of the passages on triadic theory, the treatise continues to be relatively unknown. In order to understand the full extent of Baryphonus and Grimm’s contributions to the history of music theory, and to provide a multifaceted context for situating Pleiades musicae in the culture of its time and place of origin, the present study examines both editions of the text from biographical, cultural, educational, philosophical, music-theoretical, and historical perspectives, and includes modern Latin editions and English translations of the two editions of the treatise.

Abstract:
Heinrich Schenker (1868–1935) had a radio installed in his home on 19th October 1924 – less than three weeks after the inauguration of Radio Wien, Austria’s first Official radio station. Almost overnight it became his primary source of exposure to the cultural life of Vienna, with references to over 1,000 broadcasts of concerts, plays and talks appearing in his diary from the day his receiver was installed until his death in January 1935. This abundant record of his listening habits offers a rare glimpse into the breadth of Schenker’s private interests. Not only do his accounts of broadcasts touch on an eclectic array of music dating from the Middle Ages to the present day as well as a variety of spoken-word programmes, they also illuminate how he used this novel technology to increase his access to the arts. He embraced the unprecedented opportunity that radio afforded to broadly survey contemporary performance practice, to revisit repertory he had not heard for many years and to explore music by composers whose work he had otherwise solely encountered in scores or reviews. Indeed, contrary to Schenker’s self-portrayal as a misanthrope, utterly disillusioned by the culture of his time, his radio summaries give the impression of someone who took a lively interest in all aspects of culture, exploring genres and art forms far beyond his specialism. They depict a man who not only sought enlightenment in music, but even diversion. Schenker’s decade-long record of his listening habits affords rare insight into the practical significance that technologies such as radio had for his generation of musicians. This thesis explores how his relationship with radio evolved, charting its transition from being a resource that radically transformed his access to the arts to a source of respite in the final years of his life.

Centré sur l'intérêt précoce et durable que Heinrich Mann (1871-1950), refusant de se reconnaître dans l'Allemagne de son temps, porte à la littérature et à la culture françaises, le présent travail retrace à partir d'une étude conjointe de la biographie et de l'œuvre de l'auteur la manière à la fois sinueuse et continue dont H. Mann, récusant sans le renier vraiment l'esthétisme de ses débuts, se rapproche d'un idéal républicain identifié dans quelques grands textes de littérature française (Michelet, Zola) abondamment annotés par l'auteur et conservés à Berlin aux archives Heinrich Mann. Notre étude se veut une approche globale, bien que sélective, de l'œuvre de H. Mann dont on cherche à montrer, derrière la diversité apparente, l'unité et la continuité dans l'espace et dans le temps. La démarche suivie n'est pas strictement chronologique pour autant, puisque le premier chapitre de notre travail est consacré au roman de la maturité Der Untertan et que les quatre chapitres suivants se penchent sur les lectures de jeunesse (Paul Bourget) et sur les expériences (réception de l'affaire Dreyfus) à travers lesquelles H. Mann constitue intuitivement et patiemment sa personnalité d'écrivain. Les deux derniers chapitres opèrent un retour sur l'œuvre de Heinrich Mann, le portrait de Zola de 1915 et la biographie romancée d'Henri IV (1935) qui le prolonge, version aboutie d'un idéal démocratique entrevu trente ans auparavant, et dernière image idéale de l'intellectuel aux prises avec une réalité politique méprisable
This study is a global approach of H. Mann's life and work and of his democracy-concept, which he elaborated through the reception of great texts from French Literature (Michelet: History of French Revolution; Zola) and through his reception and analysis around 1904 of the Dreyfus-Affair (1898). It demonstrates in the work of H. Mann's the continuity between the satirical view of the wilhelminian Monarchy (Der Untertan 1914) and the great biography of Henri IV (1935-1938) in the exile-years. This study is also a demonstration of the tenacity that H. Mann employed in building his own personality as "intellectuel à la française. "

Abstract:
This project examines the role of unreliable narration in the works of Heinrich von Kleist (1777-1811) and Heinrich Böll (1917-1985) as a form of political engagement. Its first section provides an extensive historical analysis of the scholarship on unreliable narration within the field of narratology. It argues for a shift away from structuralist narratological models and toward a hybrid model of historical, cultural and cognitive narratology. Furthermore, the case is made for a reconceptualization of unreliable narration as a fundamental form of "discrepant awareness" and as the equivalent of dramatic irony in prose. Building on this insight, it locates unreliable narrration in the trajectory of avant-gardist and partisan writing. Drawing on concepts of "subversive affirmation", such as Umberto Eco's "communications guerilla warfare", Michel Foucault's "non-positive affirmation", Slavoj Zizek's "over-identification", and Linda Hutcheon's theory of post-modern irony, it argues that unreliable narration is frequently used as a pedagogical tool by way of parodic subversion. The subsequent study of the works of Kleist and Böll further substantiates this claim. In trying to conform to the conventions of his time, the narrator in Kleist's journalistic writing and prose repeatedly cites a variety of contemporary genres, such as the "moralische Erzählung" and the bourgeois tragedy, as well as the aesthetic ideals of German Romanticism. His unreliability, however, allows Kleist not only to circumvent Napoleonic censorship, but also to infiltrate the public discourse and sabotage its codes. A close reading of the novella Michael Kohlhaas reveals how Kleist's narrator makes use of manipulated focalization to steer the reader's sympathies. By way of contrast, Heinrich Böll, in his novels Group Portrait with Lady and The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum, uses a narrator who sees himself as writing in the tradition
Ce projet a pour but d'analyser le rôle d'une "unreliable narration" dans les œuvres d'Heinrich von Kleist (1777-1811) et d'Heinrich Böll (1917-1985) en tant que forme d'engagement politique. La première partie offre une représentation exhaustive de l'ensemble de la recherche qui a été faite sur la narration dite « unreliable » au sein de la narratologie, plaidant ainsi un revirement, voire un recul vis-à-vis des modèles narratologiques structuralistes et envers un modèle narratologique hybride se voulant a la fois historique, culturel et cognitif. De surcroit, cette thèse suggère une reconceptualisation de la « unreliable narration » en tant que forme fondamentale d'une « discrepant awareness », égale a l'ironie dramatique en prose. A partir de ces observations, cette thèse explore le rôle de la « unreliable narration » dans le contexte des écrits dits avant-gardistes et partisans. Se basant sur les concepts de « affirmation subversive » tels que les 'communications guerilla warfare » d'Umberto Eco, « l'affirmation non-positive » de Michel Foucault, l' « over-identification » de Slavoj Zizek, ainsi que la théorie de l'ironie post-moderne de Linda Hutcheon, elle argumente que la « unreliable narration » est fréquemment utilise en tant qu'outil pédagogique a des fins de subversion parodique. Cette étude portant sur les œuvres de Kleist et de Böll confirme cette théorie. Voulant être conforme aux conventions de son temps, la figure narrative dans les écrits journalistiques et dans la prose de Kleist cite à maintes reprises plusieurs « genres » contemporains, tels que la « moralische Erzählung » et la trégédie bourgeoise, de même que les idéaux du romantisme allemand.
