Full textHatred towards drama and performances and shows, though historically irregular and polymorphic in its illustrations, has not ceased, at least since Plato, to express itself chronically. Traditionally, up to the 18th century, it has mostly been the doing of theology and philosophy.Three reasons motivated this work. First, the belief that antitheatricality forms a much more fertile corpus than it seems at first. Second, the assumption that traditional antitheatricality has, on many levels, provided modern drama tools to establish itself whilst building itself “against”. Third, the relative lack of interest in French performance studies towards traditional antitheatricality – even though other fields have willingly addressed the issue. Thus, one may better understand what the title of this work implies: antitheatricality does not neglect theatre; on the contrary, it proves itself very watchful and well aware of its abilities to disrupt and shake – maybe more than the arguments used to defend and justify the theatre. This PhD work consists of two big parts. The first part identifies and classifies five big sorts of accusations aimed at the theatre: one of the economic kind (the theatre is too much), one of the dynamic kind (it is too fast and too effective), two of ontological kind (it promotes impurity in every sense, and it promotes instability), and finally one of the genetic kind in a metaphorical way (it corrupts the alleged “nature” of things). The second part aims to reemploy antitheatricality to question three domains. The first is political: what does antitheatricality teach us about the theatre’s (problematic and often idealized) relation with society? The second is emotional and sensorial: what are his effects (really and not theoretically) on the audience? The third is aesthetical: what does it teach us about the status and the effects of theatrical images? The work aims thus to study antitheatricality whilst listening to it instead of dismissing it, and to use its arguments in a critical/analytical way – to subject theatre to questioning
Saltel, Philippe. "Sentiments et vie morale : la haine." Paris 1, 1996. http://www.theses.fr/1996PA010687.
Full textHate is commonly regarded as the very worst passion ; it may therefore be significative to test a new understanding of affectivity on this instance. The two related versions of hate seem to be compounded of a (negative) desire, a (rash) judgment, a (pleasant) affect. From this analysis, we assume the hypothesis that this "evil passion" repeats inopportunely a first and vital disjunction. Consequently, it has a very ancient origin and a meaning which may become a positive one, if we are able to submit ourselves to its truth. So we must define an adjusted form of it, a cautious, understanding and courageous "hatred of hate" (that is, of itself). We have studied some illustrations of it in morals and politics and concluded that such a passion may be refined into a sound emotion, which, like others of a same kind, takes part in the construction of ethical knowledge and in the moral improvement of the self

Full textFor a long time, the policies of environmental protection were accused of being the cause of important relocations, entailing the risk of the « environmental dumping » and the appearance of the phenomenon of the « pollution haven ». It is this theory that we will take issue in this thesis by demonstrating that even it is exact in exceptional cases, it is not any more in most of the cases and it is because of several mechanisms which have relation with the nature of environmental policies, the structures of the market and the intern composition of companies. We are going to study factors encouraging multinationals to relocate. In addition, we are going to demonstrate the impact of these factors on the concentration of the polluting industries and consequently on the appearance of the phenomenon of « pollution haven » (Chapter 1). Then we will explain the ineffectiveness of the public interventions to resolve the environmental issues and the necessity of the social responsibility of companies as condition of success of environmental policies (Chapter 2). Finally, we will contradict the existence of « pollution haven » and we will verify that the environmental protection and the economic competition can converge in a way that the one be the condition of the success of the other (Chapter 3)

Full textPlanning the territory is a complex exercise due to the lack of knowledge of the future. The institutional actors in charge of planning must therefore consider and weigh a multiplicity of factors, internal and external to the territory. The choices made depend on the interpretation of the issues and the objectives to be achieved. The understanding of the context varies according to the representations and affects that pre-exist within the institutions. This work carried out in Cuba focuses on the territory of Havana Bay. The Cuban politico-economic structure, centralized and without counter-power, could allow a strong coherence between the decisions taken in a constrained international environment and the local context of the territory planning. However, it must be noted that there may be discrepancies between the institutions in charge of planning. These divergences, both in the definition of the ideal to be achieved and the means to achieve it, may result in proposals distancing from one to another. In order to understand the actors' readings of the territory as well as their affects, we used a classical methodology, enriched with 360° animated images projected in a virtual reality helmet, and completed by the realization of mental maps. Thus, it was observed that certain spaces generate important socio-spatial segregations, while being counter-intuitively very appreciated by the local populations. The results obtained accordingly show significant contrasts between what classical geography tells us as well the affects felt by the actors that were interviewed
