Abstract:
ABSTRACT Intracellular symbiosis (endosymbiosis) with gram-negative bacteria is common in insects, yet little is known about how the host immune system perceives the endosymbionts and controls their growth and invasion without complete bacterial clearance. In this study, we have explored the expression of a peptidoglycan recognition protein gene of the weevil Sitophilus zeamais (wPGRP); an ortholog in Drosophila (i.e., PGRP-LB) was recently shown to downregulate the Imd pathway (A. Zaidman-Remy, M. Herve, M. Poidevin, S. Pili-Floury, M. S. Kim, D. Blanot, B. H. Oh, R. Ueda, D. Mengin-Lecreulx, and B. Lemaitre, Immunity 24:463-473, 2006). Insect challenges with bacteria have demonstrated that wPGRP is induced by gram-negative bacteria and that the level of induction depends on bacterial growth. Real-time reverse transcription-PCR quantification of the wPGRP gene transcript performed at different points in insect development has shown a high steady-state level in the bacteria-bearing organ (the bacteriome) of larvae and a high level of wPGRP up-regulation in the symbiotic nymphal phase. Concomitantly, during this stage fluorescence in situ hybridization has revealed an endosymbiont release from the host bacteriocytes. Together with the previously described high induction level of endosymbiont virulence genes at the nymphal phase (C. Dale, G. R. Plague, B. Wang, H. Ochman, and N. A. Moran, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 99:12397-12402, 2002), these findings indicate that insect mutualistic relationships evolve through an interplay between bacterial virulence and host immune defense and that the host immunity engages the PGRP gene family in that interplay.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Many viruses inhibit or retard apoptosis, a strategy that subverts one of the most ancient antiviral mechanisms. M11L, a myxoma virus-encoded antiapoptotic protein, has been previously shown to localize to mitochondria and block apoptosis of virus-infected cells (H. Everett, M. Barry, S. F. Lee, X. J. Sun, K. Graham, J. Stone, R. C. Bleackley, and G. McFadden, J. Exp. Med. 191:1487-1498, 2000; H. Everett, M. Barry, X. Sun, S. F. Lee, C. Frantz, L. G. Berthiaume, G. McFadden, and R. C. Bleackley, J. Exp. Med. 196:1127-1139, 2002; and G. Wang, J. W. Barrett, S. H. Nazarian, H. Everett, X. Gao, C. Bleackley, K. Colwill, M. F. Moran, and G. McFadden, J. Virol. 78:7097-7111, 2004). This protection from apoptosis involves constitutive-forming inhibitory complexes with the peripheral benzodiazepine receptor and Bak on the outer mitochondrial membrane. Here, we extend the study to investigate the interference of M11L with Bax activation during the process of apoptosis. Myxoma virus infection triggers an early apoptotic signal that induces rapid Bax translocation from cytoplasm to mitochondria, despite the existence of various viral antiapoptotic proteins. However, in the presence of M11L, the structural activation of Bax at the mitochondrial membrane, which is characterized by the occurrence of a Bax conformational change, is blocked in both M11L-expressing myxoma-infected cells and M11L-transfected cells under apoptotic stimulation. In addition, inducible binding of M11L to the mitochondrially localized Bax is detected in myxoma virus-infected cells and in M11L/Bax-cotransfected cells as measured by immunoprecipitation and tandem affinity purification analysis, respectively. Importantly, this inducible Bax/M11L interaction is independent of Bak, demonstrated by the complete block of Bax-mediated apoptosis in myxoma-infected cells that lack Bak expression. Our findings reveal that myxoma M11L modulates apoptosis by multiple independent strategies which all contribute to the blockade of apoptosis at the mitochondrial checkpoint.

Abstract:
A cold strain index (CSI) based on rectal (Tre) and mean skin temperatures ([Formula: see text] sk) using data from seminude resting subjects has been proposed (Moran DS, Castellani JW, O'Brien C, Young AJ, and Pandolf KB. Am J Physiol Regulatory Integrative Comp Physiol 277: R556–R564, 1999). The current study determined whether CSI could provide meaningful data for clothed subjects exercising in the cold with compromised insulation. Ten men exercised in cold-wet conditions (CW) for 6 h before (D0) and after 3 days of exhaustive exercise (D3). Each hour of CW consisted of 10 min of standing in rain (5.4 cm/h, 5°C air) followed by 45 min of walking (1.34 m/s, 5.4 m/s wind, 5°C air). The change in Tre across time was greater ( P < 0.05) on D3 than on D0, and the change in [Formula: see text] sk was less ( P < 0.05) on D3 than on D0. Although CSI increased across time, the index at the end of both trials (D3 = 4.6 ± 0.6; D0 = 4.2 ± 0.8) was similar ( P > 0.05). Thus, while [Formula: see text] sk was 1.3°C higher ( P < 0.05) and Tre was 0.3°C lower ( P < 0.05) on D3 than on D0, CSI did not discriminate the greater heat loss that occurred on D3. These findings indicate that when vasoconstrictor responses to cold are altered, such as after exhaustive exercise, CSI does not adequately quantify the different physiological strain between treatments. CSI may be useful for indicating increased strain across time, but its utility as a marker of strain between different treatments or studies is uncertain because no independent measure of strain has been used to determine to what extent CSI is a valid and reliable measure of strain.

Abstract:
The most definitive evidence for an accretion disk is provided by the discovery of megamasers (Claussen et al. 1984) which appear to be located in a molecular torus around the nucleus of the mildly active galaxy NGC 4258. Confirmation of Keplerian rotation speed was obtained from radio interferometer (Nakai et al. 1993) and VLBI observations (Greenhill, this volume). Based on the correlation between the spatial locations and radial velocities of the masers, Moran et al. (1995) deduced that the masers are located in a disk at radii R = 0.13–0.26 pc around a black hole with a mass M ≈ 3.5 × 107M⊙ (Watson & Wallin 1994, Maoz 1995). A limit on the thickness (H < 2.5 × 10−3R) is deduced from the velocity dispersion of the maser sources. The mass-diffusion time scale is estimated to be τd > 1015 α−1 s, where α is the viscosity parameter. An efficient angular-momentum transfer mechanism (α > 0.1) is needed for τd ≈ 108 yr, which is the disk evolution time scale inferred from the correlation between interacting galaxies and intense AGN activities (MacKenty 1989, Hernquist 1989). A relatively large value of a is also required to account for the accretion rate needed to power the X-ray flux of NGC 4258.

Abstract:
Cyclic nucleotide ras GEF (CNrasGEF) is a guanine-nucleotide exchange factor previously isolated in a screen for Nedd4-WW domain interacting proteins (Pham, N., Cheglakov, I., Koch, C. A., de Hoog, C. L., Moran, M. F., and Rotin, D. (2000)Curr. Biol.10, 555–558). It activates Ras in a cAMP-dependent manner and Rap-1 independent of cAMP. Here we show that CNrasGEF is a likely substrate of the ubiquitin protein ligase Nedd4. CNrasGEF possesses two PY motifs at its C terminus that are responsible for binding to Nedd4in vitro. Moreover, Nedd4 and CNrasGEF co-immunoprecipitate from 293T cells expressing ectopic CNrasGEF and endogenous Nedd4, and this co-immunoprecipitation is abrogated in PY motif-mutated CNrasGEF (CNrasGEFΔ2PY). CNrasGEF is ubiquitinated in cells, and this ubiquitination is augmented upon overexpression of wt-Nedd4 but is inhibited in cells overexpressing a catalytically inactive Nedd4 (Nedd4(CS)) or in cells expressing CNrasGEFΔ2PY, which cannot bind Nedd4. Moreover, pulse-chase experiments have demonstrated that the half-life of CNrasGEF is reduced 5-fold (from ∼10 to ∼2 h) in cells co-expressing Nedd4 with CNrasGEF but not with CNrasGEFΔ2PY (t0.5∼ 14 h). CNrasGEF is also stabilized in cells co-expressing Nedd4(CS) or following treatment with lactacystin, indicating proteasomal degradation of this protein. Deletion/mutation of the CDC25 domain to abrogate Ras (or Rap-1) binding leads to impaired ubiquitination of CNrasGEF, suggesting that such binding is critical for ubiquitination. Treatment of cells with the cAMP analogue 8-bromo-cAMP does not affect the ability of CNrasGEF to bind Nedd4 nor its level of ubiquitination, suggesting that Ras bindingper seand not its activation is the critical step in triggering ubiquitination of CNrasGEF. These results suggest that CNrasGEF is a substrate for Nedd4, which regulates its ubiquitination and stability in cells.

Abstract:
Fluctuations in supply and demand result in wasted energy during off-peak electric grid hours, with Reversible Solid Oxide Cells (RSOCs) potentially providing an efficient means by which such energy can be stored to create a highly sustainable grid.1 A RSOC can catalyze reactions such as the CO2 Reduction Reaction (CO2RR) by operating in the Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell (SOEC) mode when energy supply is high, or in the Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) mode when demand is high while oxidizing CO.1 The estimated yearly energy storage requirement is about 2-3 months per year, with RSOCs capable of achieving this goal.1 Single phase perovskite materials with the composition La0.3M0.7Fe0.7Cr0.3O3-δ (M = Sr, Ca) (LMFCr) have emerged as promising electrocatalysts for both fuel and oxygen electrodes in symmetrical RSOCs due to their phase stability in air and fuels (pO2 ~ 0.21 – 10-21 atm) and their compatibility with doped ceria-buffered yttria- and scandia-stabilized zirconia (YSZ/SSZ) electrolytes.2,3 The Ca analogue of LMFCr (LCFCr) has generally shown better performance and compatibility with other cell components,3 with significant efforts directed towards further enhancing its CO2RR activity by employing various approaches, including nanoscale modifications.4 One such technique is nanoparticle (NP) exsolution, which can greatly increase the catalytic surface area.5 This method employs B-site doping with Ni or Co followed by exposure to reducing conditions to decorate the catalyst surface with B-site metal alloy NPs.4 These are strongly anchored to the bulk material, highly resistant to coking, and stable under the harsh conditions of RSOCs.4 In our initial work, the exsolution characteristics of Fe-Ni NPs from 5% Ni-doped LCFCr (LCFCrN) were studied in H2:N2 and CO2:CO atmospheres using ex situ XRD, SEM, and STEM-EDS.4 Exsolution kinetics were rapid in H2:N2 (pO2 ~ 10-23 atm) at 800 °C with NPs assuming an average size of 45 nm and an Fe-rich Fe0.64Ni0.36 composition within 1 h exposure to 5H2:95N2. On the other hand, 70CO:30CO2 atmospheres (pO2 ~ 10-20 atm) gave sluggish kinetics with the NPs achieving an average size of 40 nm and a Ni-rich FeNi3 composition even after more than 25 hours of treatment. This suggests stability to coarsening in highly reducing atmospheres.4 In more recent work, 5% Co-doped LCFCr (LCFCrCo) perovskites show visible Fe-Co NP formation at 800 °C upon exposure to 5H2:95N2 for at least 1 h or to 70CO:30CO2 for at least 5 h. Electrochemical characterization of Fe-Ni NP decorated LCFCrN (Fe-Ni@LCFCrN) was conducted on 2.5 cm diameter cells using ceria-buffered SSZ electrolyte. A LCFCrN ink was screen-printed onto a ~0.5 cm2 area on both sides of the cell followed by sintering at 1100 °C for 2 h. Au was painted onto each electrode, and the cell was sintered again at 825 °C for 1 h. Electrical connections were made via Au gauzes and wires. NP exsolution was induced by exposing the fuel electrode to 5H2:95N2 for 2 h at 800 °C. Various CO2:CO mixtures (100:0, 90:10, 70:30, 50:50) were supplied to the fuel electrode while air was supplied to the oxygen electrode with flow rates of 50 mL/min. Electrochemical performance was tested via cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and chronoamperometry. CVs showed that the NPs enhanced LCFCrN activity for CO2RR (~ 15%) and more notably for CO oxidation (~ 75%) at the same overpotential (~ 0.7 V), making the catalyst equally active for the two reactions. 15-minute potentiostatic tests indicated stable current densities of about –0.65, –0.634, and –0.618 A/cm2 in 100% CO2, 90CO2:10CO, and 70CO2:30CO respectively at a cell potential of 1.6 V. Medium-term (10 h) potentiostatic tests for CO2RR indicated excellent stability with a current density of –0.28 A/cm2 at a cell potential of 1.3 V in 70CO2:30CO (pO2 ~ 10-18 atm). The excellent electrochemical performance in both the SOFC and SOEC modes makes Fe-Ni@LCFCrN a very promising electrode material for RSOCs. Further work on LCFCrCo is underway, with comparisons being made between LCFCrN and LCFCrCo on CO2-CO electrocatalysis and NP characteristics. References Jensen, S. Abstract:
Abstract PDLIM2 is a PDZ-LIM domain protein expressed in hematopoietic and epithelial cells that regulates the stability of transcription factors including NFΚB, STATs and beta catenin. PDLIM2 function is associated with tumour suppression and also with the acquisition of a metastatic or epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) phenotype. We recently showed that PDLIM2 is more highly expressed in Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) tumours than in other breast cancer types or normal breast tissue, and that this is associated with active beta catenin in TNBC (1). Interestingly, in PDLIM2-positive TNBC tumours, PDLIM2 was also present in the tumour-associated stroma. However, whether stromal PDLIM2 expression contributes to TNBC cancer progression is unknown. To investigate this further we assessed the phenotype of PDLIM2-expressing stromal cells and determined that they most strongly represented a M2-like macrophage population. We then investigated the requirement for PDLIM2 in polarization towards either the M1 and M2-like macrophage phenotype using cultured bone marrow-derived macrophages from PDLIM2 knockout mice compared with wild type. This demonstrated that PDLIM2 is required for full adoption of IL-4-induced M2 macrophage polarization and function, including cell adhesion and migration. M1 polarization was less dependent on PDLIM2, although potential for activation of STATs and NFKB was similar in both macrophage populations. We conclude that high expression of PDLIM2 in TNBC influences the tumour microenvironment through the presence of an M2 macrophage population. Abstract:
Research suggests that child independence is more popular in countries with greater wealth and a higher percentage of the educated population. Various research implications expect children's independence and compliance to increase over time in developing countries. This study aims to describe the independence of early childhood who comes from low-income families or at low socioeconomic environment. Using quantitative descriptive, data collection techniques are carried out through a questionnaire. The study population was 30 respondents from the ECE institution who were included in the list of low-income families in 2018, using an area sampling technique. Overall, the teacher stated that all indicators of dependence on children from low-income families had reached the high category, which was 75%. The implication of further research is that aspects of independence in physical abilities, self-confidence, responsibility, discipline, sociability, sharing, and independence in terms of emotional control in early childhood can develop better in a low socio-economic environment. Abstract:
Child Distance Learning (CDL) during the pandemic has led to an optimal development of children and effective teaching and learning processes in kindergartens. To overcome this, teachers need to apply a teaching approach in accordance with the principles of kindergarten education. In addition, teachers' self-efficacy of their ability to teach is also important for developing children's skills. This study aims to describe the teaching approach and the efficacy of kindergarten teachers during the CDL process and to identify the relationship between the two. The research method used is quantitative through document analysis as a source of data findings. A total of 116 Public Kindergarten (PK) teachers in DKI Jakarta participated in filling out the Classroom Management Scale and Teachers' Sense of Efficacy Scale online. All data were processed using descriptive statistics and correlation. Furthermore, there is a document analysis carried out on the Daily / Weekly Learning Program Design in PK Jakarta. The findings identified that the teaching approach of kindergarten teachers during CDL included only two principles of kindergarten education, namely thematic teaching and developing life skills. Furthermore, PK teachers in the Jakarta area showed low self-efficacy during CDL. The teaching approach and self-efficacy were caused by teachers' unpreparedness in facing challenges during CDL. In addition, other findings indicate that there is a relationship between teaching approaches and teacher self-efficacy. Another CDL model Interventions to increase teacher self-efficacy and the extent to which the relationship between the two variables can be studied further in future studies. Abstract:
In indirect advertising, an advertisement does not boldly show the products on the video. The object of the study in this thesis is a video advertisement of a clothing line, H&M, consisting a story about a family in the holiday season. This thesis aims to show that commercials of H&M “A Magical Holiday” uses multimodality in order to attract the audience through six modes: linguistic, audio, spatial, oral, visual, and gestural modes. In this study, I analyzed the modes by Multimodal Discourse Analysis by Kress and Leeuwen onto the six modes to analyze the advertisement, using the study by Chan and Chia on modes in multimodality. This research is using qualitative analysis by Schreier (2012) since it deals with the connection between all the semiotic modes to bring the message of the advertisement. I analyzed the data by putting the scenes into 6 tables based on the modes. After that, I analyzed the interrelation between each modes. Based on the analysis, the modes helped the advertisers to convey the real message of the video. Beyond the moral message of the story, the advertisement is a marketing tool to promote their products. Key Words: indirect advertising, multimodal discourse analysis, semiotic modes, H&M

Abstract:

Abstract:
Corporate governance from Islamic perspective is derived from Islamic worldview, whereby the God is at the apex and human beings are below Him. However, there is no unified definition of corporate governance under shari’ah point of view. To bridge the applicability of Islamic corporate governance model with Islamic moral economy framework, some key questions to be addressed are as follows. (i) do Islamic corporate governance models consistent with the aspiration of Islamic moral economy? (ii) what are the important dimensions of Islamic corporate governance? (iii) what is the concept of Islamic corporate governance inspired by the ideals of Islamic moral economy? To accomplish the objectives, this paper follows critical review analysis as a methodology, through which it aims to highlight how each Islamic corporate governance model models are being constructed and to compare those models with Islamic moral economy perspective. Abstract:
Abstract:
This paper compared the tought of al-Asma al-Husna by H. Husin Qader and H.M. Zurkani Jahja. There are differences in the tought of the two figures in the delivery of the words of al-Asma al-Husna written in their work. H. Husin Qaderi in his book ‘Senjata Mukmin’ (the Faithful’s weapon) and H.M. Zurkani Jahja in his book ‘99 jalan menuju Tuhan’ (99 ways of finding the God). The findings of this study is H. Husin Qaderi thought about al-Asma al-Husna that shows God’s action is the dominant to the practical prayer with ‘zikir’, it is appropriate approach to Sufism that he had as well as the community needs are preaching at that time. H. M. Zurkani Jahja told about al-Asma al-Husna that shows God’s action is the dominant to the moral and spiritual implications, the Sufism approach that he used in accordance with al-Ghazali in his ‘al-Maqsâd. Zurkani used simple and easy explanation, it is because he wrote al-Asma al-Husna in a tabloid then booked, his expectation was the people to behave like the personality of God limited his ability. There are differences of tought about al-Asma al-Husna showing the actions of God according to both of them, their difference lies in the God’s blessings on His servants. Qaderi more closed, while Zurkani seems more open to God’s faithful servant and vice versa to get God’s blessings.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT: Character education in Islam has its own style, as well as the character values con- tained in various learning media for early childhood. This study is a follow-up study to find the effect of Movie Media with Islamic Character Values (M-ICV) in shaping "Ahlaqul Karimah" in early childhood. Using an experimental method with a control class, which involved 19 respondents of early childhood. Data shows that the ttest < t table (0.75 < 2.110), meaning that there is a significant difference in effect between the experimental class and the control class. The results conclude that M-ICV is able to form a child's "Ahlakul Karimah" slowly, because the child likes various movies with content interesting and easy to imitate. The implications of further research on movie content development for children are able to develop other aspects of children's development. Abstract:
A growing ecumenical awareness among Christian theologians and ethicists has found in John Paul II’s moral encyclical Veritatis Splendor a fresh impetus for a development of common studies of moral issues. Not few mainly Protestant ethicists expressed their com- ments on the way the Pope discusses and defines fundamental problems of Christian moral teaching. Some of those comments were apparently positive, at times even enthusiastic (e.g. R. Benne, S. Hauerwas, O. O’Donovan, J.B. Elshtain), while others displayed a mixed reaction to the papal teaching (e.g. L.S. Mudge. G. Meilaender, M. Banner). There were also some authors who approached Veritatis Splendor critically, some even rejected it alto- gether (e.g. N.P. Harvey, R. Preston, H. Oppenheimer).

Abstract:
In this paper, we consider how global brands, through their growing involvement with corporate social responsibility, facilitate expressions of everyday, moral cosmopolitanism among youth. Focusing on the brands toms and H&M, we use a case study approach to examine how the brands establish contexts of consumption that support cosmopolitan performances – ways of being, feeling, or acting cosmopolitan with the brand. We also use Instagram research to explore how young people activate such cosmopolitan affordances through online activity. Focusing on the moral dimensions of cosmopolitan consumption, we contribute to existing work on aesthetic cosmopolitanism among youth by charting the different ways in which young people also express moral cosmopolitan ideals through their engagement with global brands. The paper provides a critical reflection on branded moral cosmopolitanism, outlining its contradictions, while drawing attention to the complexity of young people’s moral consumer cosmopolitanisms, as they emerge through entanglements of global brands, csr, consumption, and young people’s existing and aspirational orientations, interests, and lifestyles.

Abstract:
The article, after providing a general survey of prescriptive theories (or theories on rules) in Hellenistic philosophy, tries to offer a detailed analysis of the moral doxography of Philo of Larissa conserved in Stobaeus' Anthology (Stob. Ecl. II 7, 2, pp. 39-40 W.-H. = 25 Wiśniewski, 2 Mette, 32 Brittain). According to this evidence, Philo divided moral philosophy in three parts : hortatory, or protreptic, topos, therapeutic topos, prescriptive topos –; besides, he parted the prescriptive topos into general and particular logos. This doctrine is contextualised in rhetoric reflection of Hermagorean school and also considered in the light of Academic probabilism. In particular, Carneades' theory of the representations attested by Sextus, M VII 184 is the background against which to evaluate Philo's position.

Abstract:
Introduction: Since both components critical thinking and moral reasoning are considered to be major phenomena, the development of which is a priority of all world education policies, they are paid a lot of attention in foreign countries. However, foreign studies have only made a little mention of examining their relationship and integrity as well as until recently, each dimension has been examined separately in Slovakia and there is no piece of evidence showing the relationship between them. Based on this, we have formulated the following scientific problem: Is there a relationship between critical thinking and moral reasoning? Methods and respondents: The basic measurement tool of our research was the Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal used to determine the level of critical thinking. The level of moral reasoning was investigated by Lind´s Moral Competence Test. The examined sample consisted of the available selection of the 2nd and 3rd year teacher study programme students for lower and upper secondary education at the University of Prešov in Prešov (N = 241) and the testing itself was realized in the academic year 2020/2021. Results: Our research shows that the average value of the gross score in critical thinking of the teacher students is M = 43.26 (SD = 5.09) and the achieved average numeric value of moral judgment expressed by the C-score is M = 21.15 (SD = 12.88). Based on the Pearson Correlation results, we were discussing whether the calculated value of the correlation coefficient indicates the relationship between critical thinking and moral reasoning and whether there is a relationship between moral reasoning and individual cognitive components of critical thinking and the results of the research show interesting findings about the relationship between critical and moral reasoning of teacher students. Conclusion: The conclusions of the research lead us to redesign the undergraduate training of future teachers in the context of the World Economic Forum challenges and the support for minds of the future according to H. Gardner - critical, creative, disciplined, ethical and tolerant - as a critical and moral integrity.

Abstract:
Urban road tunnels with shafts have been applied in some cities in China. Field measurements of Mofan Road Tunnel show that ambient wind is widespread and its influence on the ventilation efficiency of shaft is unclear. In this paper, the physical model of a three-lane 210 m (length) *12 m (width) *6 m (height) tunnel is studied, with three vehicles in each lane and a speed of 60 km/h. Three-dimensional CFD simulations on a 210 m long tunnel with double shafts is carried out by Fluent 6.3.26. Abstract:
The pandemic of COVID-19 has afflicted every individual and has initiated a cascade of directly or indirectly involved events in precipitating mental health issues. The human species is a wanderer and hunter-gatherer by nature, and physical social distancing and nationwide lockdown have confined an individual to physical isolation. The present review article was conceived to address psychosocial and other issues and their aetiology related to the current pandemic of COVID-19. The elderly age group has most suffered the wrath of SARS-CoV-2, and social isolation as a preventive measure may further induce mental health issues. Animal model studies have demonstrated an inappropriate interacting endogenous neurotransmitter milieu of dopamine, serotonin, glutamate, and opioids, induced by social isolation that could probably lead to observable phenomena of deviant psychosocial behavior. Conflicting and manipulated information related to COVID-19 on social media has also been recognized as a global threat. Psychological stress during the current pandemic in frontline health care workers, migrant workers, children, and adolescents is also a serious concern. Mental health issues in the current situation could also be induced by being quarantined, uncertainty in business, jobs, economy, hampered academic activities, increased screen time on social media, and domestic violence incidences. The gravity of mental health issues associated with the pandemic of COVID-19 should be identified at the earliest. Mental health organization dedicated to current and future pandemics should be established along with Government policies addressing psychological issues to prevent and treat mental health issues need to be developed. Forcadas).

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Pax6 is a paired box containing transcription factor that resides at the top of a genetic hierarchy controlling eye development. It continues to be expressed in tissues of the adult eye, but its role in this capacity is unclear. Pax6 is present in the adult corneal epithelium, and we showed that the amount of Pax6 is increased at the migrating front as the epithelium resurfaces the cornea after injury (J. M. Sivak, R. Mohan, W. B. Rinehart, P. X. Xu, R. L. Maas, and M. E. Fini, Dev. Biol. 222:41-54, 2000). We also showed that Pax6 controls activity of the transcriptional promoter for the matrix metalloproteinase, gelatinase B (gelB; MMP-9) in cell culture transfection studies. gelB expression is turned on at the migrating epithelial front in the cornea, and it coordinates and effects aspects of epithelial regeneration (R. Mohan, S. K. Chintala, J. C. Jung, W. V. Villar, F. McCabe, L. A. Russo, Y. Lee, B. E. McCarthy, K. R. Wollenberg, J. V. Jester, M. Wang, H. G. Welgus, J. M. Shipley, R. M. Senior, and M. E. Fini, J. Biol. Chem. 277:2065-2072). We define here two positively acting Pax6 response elements in the gelB promoter. Pax6 binds directly to one of these sites through the paired DNA-binding domain. It binds the second site indirectly by interaction with AP-2α, a transcription factor that also exerts control over eye development. Pax6 control of gelB expression was examined in vivo by using a corneal reepithelialization model in mice heterozygous for a Pax6 paired-domain mutation (Sey +/−). A reduced Pax6 dosage in these mice resulted in a loss of gelB expression at the migrating epithelial front. This effect was correlated with an increase in inflammation and the rate of reepithelialization, a finding consistent with the phenotype of gelB knockout mice. Together, these data indicate that Pax6 controls activity of the gelB promoter through cooperative interactions with AP-2α and support an active role for Pax6 in maintenance and repair of the adult corneal epithelium.

Abstract:
e4988058Distance education (EAD) is based on the interaction between students and teachers, engaged in a link that determines the access that leads to this process of teaching and knowledge. In this scenario, tutoring stands out as one of the most relevant issues to be studied and addressed, as there is a need to train these professionals to work in this type of teaching. Thus, the research aims to analyze the role of online tutoring and its interactions (narratives) in an elective discipline of the classroom Pedagogy course, from a public higher education institution in the state of Alagoas, in the understanding of its students. With a qualitative approach and exploratory character, the research had as subjects seven students of the course. The instruments of data collection were: questionnaire and observation of interactions (narratives) of students in the forums. The analysis took place in an interpretative way using the Sobek software to assist in the analysis, following the categories: tutoring; interactions in the virtual learning environment; teacher-tutor interaction and students. For students, the experience of acting in tutoring was a moment of learning about this role; considered that in some mini courses there was not; emphasized that the role of tutoring is ingrained in mediating the knowledge of EAD students. It is relevant to reflect on the inclusion of disciplines on distance learning in the curriculum of universities, in the process of initial teacher training. Palavras-chave: Tutoria, Interação, Educação a Distância, Pedagogia. Keywords: Mentoring, Interaction, Distance Education, Pedagogy.ReferencesASSOCIAÇÃO BRASILEIRA DE EDUCAÇÃO A DISTÂNCIA. Abstract:
The article analyzes the views of representatives of academic philosophy in Ukraine in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries on progress, its components, sources, driving forces and practical consequences of its implementation. It is determined that the topic of progress belonged to the topical issues of academic philosophizing in Ukraine of this period. Among the personalities interested in the idea of progress, the thoughts of S. S. Hohotskyi, M. Ya. Hrot, M. O. Olesnytskyi and H. I. Chelpanov attract attention. The most detailed idea of progress is presented in the creative work of the theologian-moralist M. O. Olesnytskyi, who saw in progress the unity of scientific, technical and moral progress. The signs of progress, in his opinion, were the growing power of the human spirit over nature, the strengthening of integration processes of spiritual orientation in relations between peoples and nations on the basis of the growing importance of the individual. For the views of academic philosophers in Ukraine in the second half of the 19th – early 20th century on the problems of historical progress, differing in the scope of detailed analysis of the diversity of the idea of progress, there is a common motive, which with certain interpretations is that the progressive development of humanity can be considered only in the unity of material, economic, scientific and technological development, moral improvement of personality, which is the dominant, leading force in this process. In academic philosophy in Ukraine in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries we do not find the dominance of an unambiguous understanding of the theory of progress as mainly material and technical, social improvement, based on quantitative arguments. In general, opinions were articulated on the interdependence of material, technical and spiritual components in the process of progress, the main purpose of which was determined by the moral improvement of man.

Abstract:
PAI at all levels of education aims to increase students' faith, understanding, appreciation and practice of the religion of Islam so that they become Muslim human beings who believe in Allah SWT, and have noble character in personal, social, national and state life. However, there are specific objectives that must be considered so that the influence of Islamic Education at the PAUD level can affect life outside of school and in the family. This quantitative research describes its influence, especially on the students of TK Aisyiyah 5, Magelang City, who identify its significance. For this reason, it is suggested to strengthen the reciprocal relationship between kindergarten and parents in addition to consistency in assisting children in learning Islamic Education at home. IDEA OF „THE UNCONSCIOUS GOD” — AFTER THE HOLOCAUST CONSIDER OF VICTOR FRANKLThe article presents an idea of „the unconscious God” of V. Frankl 1905–1997, a psychoanalyst and afounder of so called „third Vienesse school”. Frankl, a prisoner of Auschwitz no. 119104 and Dachau, analyzes a modern World as a doctor psychiatrist and a philosopher. The author shows how experience of concentration camps 1942–1945 influences his moral philosophy. In his, avictim of the Holocaust, opinion, modern society is endlessly in crisis, which appears to begin in modern Europe. Frankl, in a book „The Unconscious God”, gives an option to modern human and also discusses on the one hand a pessimistic vision of „death of God” in Auschwitz M. Buber, H. Jonas, and on the other optimistic vision of neopsychoanalysis E. Fromm.

Abstract:
On a meta-analytical way, the study inventorizes and organizes the types of propaganda. It configures a communicational-persuasive taxonomy of types of propaganda. For this exploit relevant contributions of some outstanding communication authority propaganda: Sergei Chakotin, Jacques Ellul, Jean Cazeneuve, Garth S. Jowett, Victoria O'Donnell, H.-P. Cathala, J.-M. Sproule, J. E. Combs, D. Nimmo, Cristian Florin Popescu, Călin Hentea. As prototypes of propaganda are recorded vertical and horizontal propaganda; rational and irrational propaganda; propaganda of competition, propaganda of integration and propaganda of subversion; ideological, political, economy, moral, aesthetical, religious, oral, written, visual, audio-visual, organizational propaganda. The core propaganda will always find the target group. How relevant taxonomy is what is done according to the action on the target group: seductive propaganda, propaganda mythical false propaganda, propaganda fiction.

Abstract:
The medicinal herb, lemon balm (Melissa officinalis L.), which is high in rosmarinic acid (RA), has well-known therapeutic value. The goals of this study were to investigate the effects of methyl jasmonate (MeJA) on RA content, total phenolic content (TPC), and total flavonoid content (TFC), as well as changes in expression of their biosynthesis-related key genes (MoPAL, Mo4CL, and MoRAS) in Iranian lemon balm ecotypes, as first reported. Our results revealed that MeJA doses significantly increase the RA content, TPC, and TFC in both ecotypes compared with the control samples. Additionally, the higher expression levels of MoPAL, Mo4CL, and MoRAS following treatment were linked to RA accumulation in all treatments for both Iranian lemon balm ecotypes. After 24 h of exposure to 150 µM MeJA concentration, HPLC analysis showed that MeJA significantly increased RA content in Esfahan and Ilam ecotypes, which was about 4.18- and 7.43-fold higher than untreated plants. Our findings suggested that MeJA has a considerable influence on RA, TPC, and TFC accumulation in MeJA-treated Iranian M. officinalis, which might be the result of gene activation from the phenylpropanoid pathway. As a result of our findings, we now have a better understanding of the molecular processes behind RA production in lemon balm plants.

Abstract:
Azərbaycanda isə ilk dəfə şair haqqında söz açanlardan biri M. Quluzadə, A.Abi, X.Hümmətovanı göstərmək olar. Açar sözlər: Şeyx Qalib, poeziya, mövləvi, III Səlim, F.Köprülü, H.Ayan, M.Quluzadə,A.Abi Guler Sabir Abdullayeva From the genius of Sheikh Ghalib and the history of his study Abstract Sheikh Ghalib, one of the last representatives of Turkish Sufi literature of the 18th century, played an invaluable role in enriching classical literature. The excellent examples that he left for the next generations play an inexhaustible role in the development of moral values. The poet's father was one of the Mavlavi sheikhs, and his endless love for Mavlana was passed on to the poet through his father. It is also known that on the divan of Ghalib the poet read Maulana's "Masnavi" eleven times. He built his life on these cautionary tales. The poet, who lived for some time in the palace of Selim III, reflected in lyrical colors on the sofa his infinite respect for him. The Divan has many poems dedicated to Selim III. The study of the work of Sheikh Ghalib was addressed in Turkey at the beginning of the century. F. Köprül was one of the first to inform about the poet's work. Then we can show H. Ayan, M. Nurdogan, N. Okcha and others. Among those who spoke about the poet for the first time in Azerbaijan, we can name M. Guluzade, A. Abi, H. Hummatova. Abstract:
The problem of encounter – meeting/conflict of the “own” and the “alien” became especially actual in Anglo-American literature of the end of the XIXth century due to the increasing tension in relations between the newly-born American nation and Old Europe on the threshold of World War I. The brightest examples of encounter depiction are revealed in the works by O. Wilde (The Canterville ghost), H. James (Daisy Miller) and M. Twain (Innocents abroad). This study concentrates on the analysis of three works with the similar plot-lines – the arrival of American “innocents”, having “new”, free-from-prejudice, pragmatic and down-to-earth life approach, to the Old World where they have to face the “old”, traditional cultural and moral values. Special attention is paid to O. Wilde’s complication of the subject-matter of his story due to the specific choice of the main character – a supernatural being. Thus, the range of problems in “The Canterville ghost” increases from the real conflict of the English (“own”) and the American (“alien”) to the encounter of the material and the ideal, of poetical literary world of fantasy and romance and reality. The researcher makes the conclusion that the works represent three different views on the encounter problem and the ways of its solution, influenced by the writers’ origin and their own interest in the certain party of the encounter which they belonged to by birth – “English” (O. Wilde), “transatlantic” (H. James) and “American” (M. Twain). H. James’ view appears to be the most pessimistic – the compromise of the “own” and the “alien” is impossible. M. Twain’s innocents admit the great value of the Old World’s cultural achievements. However, their victory over utilitarian attitude to life is an isolated case contrasting with overall pragmatism. O. Wilde’s view seems to be the most positive: his characters return to the Old World’s historical and cultural traditions and to the wonderful poetic world created by the European literature. However, the story itself is presented in a form of ironic, parodical play with the clichés of Gothic literature which shows artificiality and illusiveness of the depicted events and impossibility of their embodiment in real life.

Proceedings of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society Annual Meeting 62, no. 1 (September 2018): 174. http://dx.doi.org/10.1177/1541931218621041.

Abstract:
The use of automated decision aids could reduce human exposure to dangers and enable human workers to perform more challenging tasks. However, automation is problematic when people fail to trust and depend on it appropriately. Existing studies have shown that system design that provides users with likelihood information including automation certainty, reliability, and confidence could facilitate trust- reliability calibration, the correspondence between a person’s trust in the automation and the automation’s capabilities (Lee & Moray, 1994), and improve human–automation task performance (Beller et al., 2013; Wang, Jamieson, & Hollands, 2009; McGuirl & Sarter, 2006). While revealing reliability information has been proposed as a design solution, the concrete effects of such information disclosure still vary (Wang et al., 2009; Fletcher et al., 2017; Walliser et al., 2016). Clear guidelines that would allow display designers to choose the most effective reliability information to facilitate human decision performance and trust calibration do not appear to exist. The present study, therefore, aimed to reconcile existing literature by investigating if and how different methods of calculating reliability information affect their effectiveness at different automation reliability. A human subject experiment was conducted with 60 participants. Each participant performed a compensatory tracking task and a threat detection task simultaneously with the help of an imperfect automated threat detector. The experiment adopted a 2×4 mixed design with two independent variables: automation reliability (68% vs. 90%) as a within- subject factor and reliability information as a between-subjects factor. Reliability information of the automated threat detector was calculated using different methods based on the signal detection theory and conditional probability formula of Bayes’ Theorem (H: hits; CR: correct rejections, FA: false alarms; M: misses): Overall reliability = P (H + CR | H + FA + M + CR). Positive predictive value = P (H | H + FA); negative predictive value = P (CR | CR + M). Hit rate = P (H | H + M), correct rejection rate = P (CR | CR + FA). There was also a control condition where participants were not informed of any reliability information but only told the alerts from the automated threat detector may or may not be correct. The dependent variables of interest were participants’ subjective trust in automation and objective measures of their display-switching behaviors. The results of this study showed that as the automated threat detector became more reliable, participants’ trust in and dependence on the threat detector increased significantly, and their detection performance improved. More importantly, there were significant differences in participants’ trust, dependence and dual-task performance when reliability information was calculated by different methods. Specifically, when overall reliability of the automated threat detector was 90%, revealing positive and negative predictive values of the automation significantly helped participants to calibrate their trust in and dependence on the detector, and led to the shortest reaction time for detection task. However, when overall reliability of the automated threat detector was 68%, positive and negative predictive values didn’t lead to significant difference in participants’ compliance on the detector. In addition, our result demonstrated that the disclosure of hit rate and correct rejection rate or overall reliability didn’t seem to aid human-automation team performance and trust-reliability calibration. An implication of the study is that users should be made aware of system reliability, especially of positive/negative predictive values, to engender appropriate trust in and dependence on the automation. This can be applied to the interface design of automated decision aids. Future studies should examine whether the positive and negative predictive values are still the most effective pieces of information for trust calibration when the criterion of the automated threat detector becomes liberal.
