Abstract:
A Queensland statewide study of guidance officer stress was undertaken with the support of the Queensland Guidance and Counselling Association Inc. (QGCA). The results showed that guidance officers were under a high level of stress due to a multitude of situational and organisational stressors. The survey also showed that key factors helped to reduce the degree of guidance officer stress. These were peer support and debriefing, access to supervision, centrebased support, networks and professional associations. The challenge for guidance officers is to consolidate factors that reduce occupational stress and target factors that increase stress to minimise the consequences.

About eight years ago I co-wrote a paper on guidance officer training in Victoria which argued that guidance officers required training in six core competency areas. There were identified as assessment, counselling, research, educational consultancy, systems intervention, and professional practice. At the time, the intent was to argue for a broader training for guidance officers rather than the traditional focus on issues of assessment and counselling. It was recognising an international trend in service delivery from individual casework models to those which incorporated consultancy and direct classroom interventions. The paperwas arguing fora comprehensive training program which supported guidance officers and gave them the skills and strategies required to make this shift.

Abstract:
Over the last decade, Australian Guidance Officers have been facing well documented challenges to their roles, training and their profession. This study surveyed 146 Guidance Officers and found them to report abnormally high stress levels but average burnout and self-efficacy scores. Previous research suggests that the most difficult aspect of the Guidance Officer's role, and the job for which they often feel least prepared, is dealing with the support needs of students with mental illness, emotional disturbance, behavioural and learning difficulties. Responses from Guidance Officers who deal with these students relatively often revealed significantly higher self-efficacy scores than the remainder of the group, higher emotional exhaustion (as anticipated) and reassuringly low depersonalisation scores. The good and bad news in these results are discussed and implications drawn for the profession.

Abstract:
Police officers in many countries face a myriad of social, psychological, and occupational challenges in their line of duty which has a significant effect on their mental health; Kenya is no exception. The Administration Police Service established a guidance and counselling programme to address the said challenges. This study, sought to assess the effectiveness of the Guidance and Counselling programme on Administration Police (AP) officers’ self-efficacy. The study was guided by the Self-efficacy theory by Albert Bandura and the Well-being theory by Martin Seligman. The study adopted the ex-post-facto research design. Stratified random sampling technique was used to select 367 participants from a total population of 7,404 AP officers while 20 key informants were purposively sampled. The study utilized both qualitative and quantitative methods in data collection. The study revealed that though the APS offers peer counselling services to its officers, these services were not effective in training self-efficacy among AP officers. Additionally, it was established that the individual counselling services offered to AP officers were not effective in enhancing the officers’ self-efficacy in the delivery of service. The study recommends the introduction of incentives for officers to encourage them to seek professional guidance and counselling training; decentralization of the APS guidance and counselling services up to the County level; employment of professional counsellors to cater for the counselling needs of the APS; the continuous awareness training of the officers on the existence of the Guidance and Counselling programme within the APS; and, provision of environments where officer counsellors can share experiences, exchange ideas and have professional and intellectual discourses.

Abstract:
Clinical supervision of counsellors is linked to accountable practice and the quality of service to clients. Despite this, there is a gap between the rhetoric of the literature and the practice of clinical supervision. This study, set in the context of the Queensland Department of Education, examined the perceptions of guidance officers and senior guidance officers about the clinical supervision provided for guidance officers by senior guidance officers in relation to their counselling practices. The findings echo concerns expressed in the literature that supervisors have received little training in supervision, and the provision of supervision outside of training settings is less than adequate.

Abstract:
There is a perception among educational communities that guidance officers are often working on their own agendas which are at cross-purposes to the needs of schools. This study was undertaken to investigate the legitimacy of those perceptions using 22 areas of guidance operation. The sample included 80% of secondary principals and 100% of secondary guidance officers in Clusters 1-5, South Coast Educational Region in Queensland. The study found that there were high correlations between guidance officers and principals in their perceptions of present and preferred guidance practice. The area of consultation with administration and staff however indicated that there was little or no correlation between present and preferred operation. This was targeted by both guidance officers and principals for improved operation. Consultation and communication represents a key area for supervision of operation.

Abstract:
The role and training of Queensland guidance officers appears to be set toward the practice end of the scientist-practitioner continuum. Yet data are presented which demonstrate that the expectations placed on many guidance officers are relatively sophisticated and specialised. Particularly in the areas of personal crisis counselling, family support and community-school development, today's guidance officers working in Queensland schools are required to demonstrate considerable specialisation. The profession seems to be facing a choice, attempt to develop into a group of true educational specialists with all the required training, supervision and in-service education or move to become a group of expert general practitioners. Some implications of these two options for the profession are explored.

This study aims to obtain empirical data related to the influence of coping strategies and support officers in the formation of psychological well-being of conflicted-children with law. The Conflicted children with law is the children of the perpetrators of criminal acts and must undergo guidance in Protective Institution for children (LPKA). This research is a quantitative descriptive approach. Subject of this study amounted to 43 conflicting children with the law who undergo guidance in LPKA Tangerang selected through purposive sampling technique. The measurement tool used in this study consists of the questionnaire of integrative well-being (Maslihah, 2017) , coping strategy (Moos, 2002),and officer support (Maslihah, 2017). The result of this study shows that when faced with pressing situation, psychological well-being can be influenced by coping strategy (internal factor) and officer support (external factor). Support officers can serve as a moderator variable in the relationship of coping strategies and psychological well-being of conflicted children with law. Future research can analyze based on cases of criminal acts committed by children accompanied by qualitative data.

In fact, guidance officers have been seen as having a vested interest in maintaining this separation. We propose that for guidance officers to become more potent in effecting change, and in order to derive maximum benefit for their clients they need to become much more closely asociated with the goals and programs of mainstream education.

In Victoria Guidance Officers provide school psychology and guidance services to families and schools. Most are located throughout Victorian centres which service local school communities and these by and large provide a generalist service which is supplemented by the service of statewide specialists.New recruits are drawn from the teaching service and those teachers with the necessary combination of experience, qualifications and personal qualities are eligible to apply. There is usually a new intake each year and this number varies according to staff ceilings and vacancies. In 1983 the intake was 45 trainee Guidance Officers which was the largest number of teachers ever recruited. These trainees were allocated to local centres where they would undertake their supervised apprenticeship, which together with the compulsory central training, would make them eligible in two years to become registered Guidance Officers.

Little is known about the criteria used in selecting applicants for guidance and counselling positions in schools. This article reports the findings of a survey completed by 91 Queensland secondary school principals and 115 guidance officers and senior guidance officers working in secondary schools. The instrument was a 105-item forced-choice instrument in which each of 15 criterion statements was paired with each other. Both groups indicate the applicant's practicum performance as a major factor in making selection decisions. Communication skills also were regarded as important. In contrast with similar studies conducted in the United States, teaching experience was not deemed to be a crucial consideration. The implications of the findings for training programs are discussed.

Abstract:
This paper describes the key features of a collaborative qualitative research project led by a senior guidance officer aimed at improving the practice of guidance officer clinical supervision. The research used a constructivist approach and developed personal understandings of clinical supervision by the participants as adult learners. A collaborative process of professional development of clinical supervision skills and knowledge was undertaken as a way of improving practice in the workplace as a part of the guidance supervision practices in a school district. The process was called a “supervision improvement cycle” and was led by the writer as a senior guidance officer and undertaken in collaboration with three guidance officer colleagues, another senior guidance officer acting as critical friend and also two doctoral supervisors. Together the participants formed a “supervision improvement community”. Such a community could be replicated in other work sites and use the “supervision improvement cycle” discussed in this paper as a way of improving a supervisor's clinical practice and by building commitment to regular planned supervision.

Health promotion services at public health center is essential to support healthy behavior but still many officers did not have the competence and quality to conduct standard health promotion. West Java implemented health promotion training to 238 officers from 10 districts. The research objective was determining changes in participants’ knowledge and its implementation after training as a basis for sustainable technical guidance. Mixed methods design explanatory sequential as results from training analysis and in-depth interviews of officers. The results showed significant change in participants’ knowledge after training by district, no significant difference between districts and education level, and no significant increase in service coverage. Continuous technical direct guidance for officers by district officials and professional organizations is needed to strengthen service management, coordination, partnerships, integration and recording-reporting. Guidance through social media can be considered for use. Further training is needed to strengthen advocacy, partnership, evaluation. Participants were grouped into four as multivariate cluster analysis result of knowledge level after training and education level.

Abstract:
Individuals with disabilities are sixteen times more likely to be killed by officers during a law enforcement encounter than other individuals. As the ever-growing list of victims demonstrates, law enforcement violence against individuals with disabilities is a national crisis. Yet, the current test, developed under Graham v. Connor, for whether officers’ use of force is excessive during an arrest considers only three factors: severity of the crime, immediacy of the threat, and resistance to arrest or attempts to flee. On its face, Graham’s three-factor test does not contemplate whether an arrestee’s individual characteristics are relevant to an officer’s use of force. Recognizing that the Graham factors are “non-exhaustive” and “flexible,” some lower federal courts have relaxed the excessive force test to account for particular circumstances. However, there is no consensus among the circuit courts and the Supreme Court has not revisited the Graham test.Over three decades later, courts still do not have sufficient guidance on how to address individual disability under Graham. This Note advocates that in adherence to Graham’s expressed flexibility, its three-factor test should be reformulated to add in a fourth factor inspired by Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act to account for whether “reasonable modifications” of an individual’s disability were made in situations when law enforcement employs force during the course of an arrest. Applying this standard in cases where an officer “reasonably should know” the arrestee has a disability promotes a baseline assumption that law enforcement officers have an active role in accommodating all disabilities.

It concludes that the implementation of guidance in Sukamiskin Correctional Institution has not been in accordance with the concept of Correctional. The guidance on the prisoners of corruption is only the guidance of the personality. The strengthening of religious values conducted by ustadz, priests and other religious leaders. Development of independence does not fit with the concept of correctional. Therefore correctional officers must have expertise in the field and also must have a high sense of devotion. Abstract:
In-situ burning (ISB) of spilled petroleum has been conducted since the late 1950s. Most burns were performed from ground level on upland areas, inland waters, or test basins and the frequency of use has been relatively low. Response to the Deepwater Horizon incident reminded the spill response community of this strategy by illustrating the utility of ISB for spills offshore. Over 400 individual burns were conducted during the summer of 2010 in the Gulf of Mexico. The Deepwater Horizon response resulted in an unprecedented and extensive use of offshore ISB, and media coverage repeatedly demonstrated successful ISB operations. Ensuring responder and community safety and health is a critical aspect for conducting controlled burns of petroleum during an oil spill response. ISB presents unique issues associated with conducting controlled burns whether on land, near shore or offshore requiring relevant guidance for Safety Officers and industrial hygienists (IH). Response personnel conducting ISB must be trained specifically for burn operations. Health concerns related to conducting and monitoring the burns must be evaluated. With the large number of controlled burns conducted in the Gulf of Mexico throughout the Deepwater Horizon response, extensive experience has been obtained which can be used to update guidance and standards documents for conducting safe burn operations. This poster, targeted for the global response community, regulators and industry, covers the health and safety concerns that need to be addressed before, during and after ISB operations by Safety Officers and industrial hygienists. Specifically, the poster will be in two parts, highlighting the research to date. Part one will be a summary of the literature research and an evaluation of safety baseline information for ISB. The second part will demonstrate how to use the information from the first part and develop an ISB site safety plan by conducting a job hazard analysis and risk assessment. The end result will be a better understanding of potential ISB hazards, their associated risks, and the range of control methods available to the response community to mitigate those risks. The goal is ultimately to develop for Safety Officers and industrial hygienists a comprehensive consensus guidance document that aids in their ability to make sound risk based decisions during an emergency.

Abstract:
The counselling effectiveness of guidance officers (GOs) was examined in a study involving 21 State secondary schools in Queensland. Students from Year 8 to Year 12 from each school were asked to rate the level of satisfaction with a counselling session. This was measured by the Client Satisfaction Questionnaire (CSQ) developed by Larsen, Attkisson, Hargreaves and Nguyen (1979). Based on Strong's (1968) Social Influence model, counselling was assumed to be an interpersonal influence process. Therefore these students also rated their perceptions of a GO's counselling attributes on the Counselor Rating Form – Short Version (CRF-S; Corrigan & Schmidt, 1983). Results indicated that ratings on the 12 CRF-S items as a total as well as a number of individual items significantly predicted CSQ scores. Student ratings on both questionnaires were high and possible explanations are considered. Also, several GO and student variables (e.g. sex of student, willingness, year level) were found to significantly predict satisfaction. Additionally, a number of these GO and student variables (e.g. GO and sex of student, willingness, the number of counselling sessions) were also found to differentially affect students' perceptions of GOs' counselling attributes.

Abstract:
During consecutive terms as President of the Queensland Guidance and Counselling Association, the first author routinely made public addresses where the survival and promotion of the Counselling profession was explored. Following such speeches, Guidance Counsellors would typically tell stories about the poor regard with which their role was held within their system and asked what they could do to increase their identity, profile and status. The second author, in eighteen years as a Guidance Officer in a different state, also came to learn that embedded within such interactions and questions were anxieties about job security and concerns about the public perception of the relative professional value of our role. It would be possible to write a paper that reflected that gloom, but we decided it would be timely and more useful to consider what could be done to increase the likelihood of professional survival. In addition to the climate existing in the world of Guidance, we are aware of the advent of Nurse Counsellors, Behaviour Teachers, Pastoral Carers, Home-School Liaison Officers, School-based Police, Chaplains and Welfare Workers within the education context. It has been the placement of these additional personnel within schools which has added to the unease of Guidance Counsellors, with what many believe is usurping some of the their role.

Protection of children is carried out as an effort to present the next generations of the nation and realize the ideals of the nation in the future, efforts are made as part of the form of coaching in realizing the goals of the diatan. The development program for correctional students at the Maros Class II Special Child Development Institute has not been effective because there are still shortcomings, namely the absence of a legal awareness program and the provision of formal education which affects the non-fulfillment of the rights of correctional students, moreover there are still adult prisoners who should be separated from children. Then the classification is also not applied so that it affects the effectiveness of the coaching program for correctional students at the Maros Class II Children's Special Guidance Institute. The role of the officers of the Child Special Guidance Institution should have been confirmed in the laws and regulations and the officers should have carried it out. The actual role of the Children's Special Guidance Institute officers based on research is still not optimal due to the lack of quality and human resources. Then regarding the completeness of facilities and infrastructure, there are still many that have not been fulfilled, thus hampering the realization of an effective coaching program.

Abstract:
In Australia, compared to the United States and Britain, guidance officers havea relatively undeveloped and insecure professional identity. They are an emerging professional group with an uncertain allegiance to both teaching and psychology. While their role has many shared characteristics with that of their overseas counterparts (school psychologists and educational psychologists), compared to these groups, requirements for postgraduate training are limited and formal registration and certification vary from state to state. Moreover, until recently, there was neither a national professional organization, nor a journal to represent their interests. It is therefore not surprising that, despite considerable criticism of the guidance officer role, there has been little published about its future. While some of the broader issues affecting the profession have been raised recently by Haskell (1984) and Rice (1984), for the most part discussion has focussed on issues like training and certification (e.g., Keats, 1985), testing (e.g., de Lemos, 1985) and counselling (e.g., Frydenberg, Lee & Mckenzie, 1985; McMullen, 1984) in a relatively parochial and uncritical manner.

Abstract:
Public records officers are often the first point of contact for citizens and journalists requesting public records through state and federal sunshine laws. Very little research has explored the opinions of public records officers about the process of open records requests, particularly in the context of journalism. Adopting a theoretical framework synthesizing the sociology of law with journalistic discursive institutionalism, this study applies an exploratory survey to better understand this aspect of the open government process. Findings suggest that public records officers exhibit a high level of paternalism, challenging journalists’ foundational discursive role as government watchdogs. These findings offer guidance for journalists and public records officers on how to better cooperate with each other in the transparency process.

Abstract:
Military impact on the environment can be defined as two components: 1) impact on the environment in time of daily activities during the training of troops and 2) impact on the environment during the combat operation. In the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to some extent, environmental security measures are implemented only during daily operations in peacetime. As for taking into account the impact of fighting on the environment in time of planning combat operations, this issue is usually not even raised in their preparation. On the other hand, NATO member states understand that military operations can be inherently destructive to human health and the environment. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the educational requirements for commanders, especially for officers who provide environmental protection in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, based on NATO regulations and the experience of Allies. The article considers how environmental issues are integrated into the military operation at each stage: planning, pre-deployment, deployment (execution and force rotation), redeployment, and post-deployment. The main tasks of environmental officers at each stage of the operation are defined. Based on the tasks solved by officers, the requirements for their education are formed, the subjects studied by US environmental officers are considered.

Abstract:
Abstract Effective police interviews are central to the justice process for sexual assault victims, but little is known about either actual communication between police officers and witnesses or the alignment between guidance and real practice. This study investigated how police officers, in formal interviews, follow ‘best evidence’ guidance to obtain victims’ demonstrable understandings of ‘truth and lies’. We conducted qualitative conversation analysis of 20 evidentiary interviews between police officers and victims who were ‘vulnerable’ adults or children. Analysis revealed that interviewers initiated conversation about truth and lies inappropriately in three ways: (i) by eliciting confirmations rather than demonstrations of understanding; (ii) by eliciting multiple demonstrations and confirmations of understanding, or (iii) by re-introducing ‘truth and lies’ conversations at incorrect points in the interview. Both (ii) and (iii) imply prior or forthcoming dishonesty on the part of the victim. In the context of encouraging victims to report sexual assault and achieve justice, the article reveals potential communicative barriers in which victims—or their evidence—may be discredited right at the start of the process.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to examine the practices and challenges of guidance and counseling services in southwest Ethiopia secondary schools with the intention of understanding the state of secondary school guidance and counseling and forward improvement options to student service. The study employs a descriptive survey design that involves quantitative and qualitative research methods. The study participants were 392 students and 108 teachers who were selected from the secondary schools of southwest Ethiopia by systematic random sampling. Moreover, 8 counselors, 8 principals, and 8 educational bureau officers were selected by a means of availability sampling. The data for the study were collected by the administration of questionnaires and the use of oral interviews. The quantitative data were analyzed using the frequency of student visits to guidance and counseling office and mean perception score on practices of guidance and counseling. The qualitative data were analyzed using the thematic analysis method with a focus on the major challenges of guidance and counseling services in the sampled schools. The result of the study showed that the majority of secondary school students never visit guidance and counseling offices. The mean perception score of students and teachers towards the usefulness of the service was positive though the provision was either very much limited or most of the time unavailable. The services of guidance and counseling are also influenced by several challenges such as the lack of professionally trained counselors and the required facilities. The researchers conclude the implication of guidance and counseling service and the associated challenges to considerably influence secondary school student learning and personal wellbeing.

Abstract:
To date, no enforcement activity against officers under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA) has been reported and methods to achieve compliance also appear to be underdeveloped. In addition to there being no prosecutions against officers for breach of their due diligence duties, there are also no formalised regulatory structures to help officers "self-regulate" effectively in order to comply with their due diligence duties. Instead, it appears that officers have been left mostly to regulate their own behaviour with some guidance from WorkSafe. This leaves a gap in the regulatory landscape of workplace health and safety in New Zealand. Opportunities for developing a unique regulatory structure geared towards regulating the due diligence duties become evident upon an examination of some of the literature on regulation. These opportunities are presented here.

The research aimed to comprehend the guidance given to inmates to build their mental, good morals, and to be able to absorb positive values of life demands based on the values, norms, and morals implemented in society to prevent recidivists. The problem formulation was how the forms of development of inmates in the Kendari Class IIA Prison of Correctional Institution prevent recidivists. The research was conducted at Kendari Class IIA Prison of Correctional Institution. Descriptive research and a qualitative approach were implement. There were three informants and respondents: the Head of the Kendari Class IIA Prison, the Head of Class IIA Kendari Prison Development, and the Head of Community Guidance and Care of Class IIA Prisons in Kendari, and 30 inmates as respondents and recidivists. The data were collected by conducting library research and field research that consisted of observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The results reveal that the forms of guidance for inmates in Kendari Class IIA of correctional officers to prevent recidivists are religious awareness building, intellectual capacity building, legal awareness building, and integration with the community (social). Applying a guidance pattern for the inmates is expected to be a part of the tools for correctional officers, especially for those who work in correctional institutions.

Abstract:
Fast-track maritime career is a topical question worldwide due to the shortage of seafarers in maritime industry. Assuming that the fast-track career officers’ relevant common characteristics in adolescence could predict future maritime career speed, the research questions of this research are: What were the common characteristics of fast-track career officers when they were 16-18? Were there any statistically significant differences between the fast-track career groups and the officers with a slower career at that age? A questionnaire survey involving 175 maritime officers was conducted in Latvia in January – October 2016, regarding officers’ family context, school achievement, involvement in sports, and personality traits when they were 16-18. Fast-track career officers perceived themselves as more conscientious, calm and more leadership oriented than the whole group in adolescence. Statistically significant differences among career-speed groups were found regarding family socioeconomic status, family atmosphere and family career support at that age. Based on those communalities among maritime officers with a fast-track carrier when they were 16-18, maritime education and training institutions could better find and give appropriate career guidance to prospective maritime officers. Even if maritime career speed is a very individualized phenomenon, family characteristics could be studied further as a potential good predictor of fast-track maritime career. Abstract:
In Indonesia, criminal law reform is manifested in plans to amend several laws and regulations, including the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code, and the Correctional Law. In addition, several criminal justice sub-systems have issued policy regulations that put forward the principle of penal mediation to accommodate the limitations or shortcomings of formal criminal law in resolving criminal cases. These various steps of change put forward a value known as restorative justice. The concept of restorative justice, which contains two main principles, namely participation, and recovery, always requires the role of Probation and Parole Officer as stated in the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 11 of 2012 concerning the Juvenile Criminal Justice System. The formulation of the following research problem is how the implications of reforming the criminal justice system based on the principles of restorative justice on the role of the Probation and Parole Officers. The purpose of this study was to determine the projected implications of reforming the criminal justice system based on the principles of restorative justice on the role of Probation and Parole Officers. This research is descriptive normative legal research. The results of the study indicate that Probation and Parole Officers have the potential to obtain strengthening of duties and functions in particular from the three main aspects of reform, namely strengthening alternative disposal, the existence of sentencing guidelines, as well as supervision and guidance in the implementation of various types of punishments and treatments. The expansion of these tasks and functions indicates the urgency of optimizing the fulfillment of technical and facilitative needs for the Probation and Parole Officers.

Abstract:
The financial scandals of the late 1990s and early 2000s led Congress to pass the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX). SOX Section 406 requires publicly-traded corporations to disclose whether they have a separate code of ethics that applies to their senior financial officers (financial code of ethics). Our study examines the content of the financial code of ethics of 29 publicly-traded firms and find that, in accordance with SOX 406, full, fair, accurate, timely and understandable disclosures and compliance with applicable laws and regulation are strongly encouraged by these codes of ethics as are and honest and ethical conduct and communication of issues by the senior financial officers. Most of the codes we examine also expect their senior financial officers to be positive role models for other employees and to actively promote ethical behavior. Most of the financial codes of ethics we examine also prohibit certain activities, primarily conflicts of interest and insider trading. The majority of the codes also specify penalties for violations of the codes with most of the codes listing termination of employment and other disciplinary actions in response to code violations. Most of the codes also contain provisions that require senior financial officers to report any violations of the code of ethics of which they are aware. We are surprised to find that many of the codes do not discuss important issues. For example, the issues of waivers of the code of ethics or prohibition of retaliation for reporting code violations are discussed only by a minority of the codes in our study. Similarly, less than half of the codes in our study require officer signatures or certification and less than a third discuss the process for amending the code of ethics. Finally, very few codes provide guidance for officers who seek clarification of the code, discuss who within the company is considered the “owner” of the code, or disclose where interested parties can locate the code.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the factors that influence police officers’ decision making when dealing with young women considered violent. Design/methodology/approach – Semi-structured interviews were carried out with frontline police officers in Scotland on their experiences of responding to incidents where young women displayed violence. Findings – The police officers clearly distinguished encounters with women using violence from those with young men, portraying young women as irrational, unpredictable and uncontrollable. The research found that while gender alone was not a determining factor for arrest, police officers did stereotype young women according to gender norms and these norms could have a bearing on decision making. The findings show that police officers prefer to respond to situations with male perpetrators due to their own difficulties effectively communicating with young women, who are often under the influence of alcohol. Research limitations/implications – The research indicates that police officers, regardless of their gender, have difficulties handling violent incidents that involve young women. This provides scope for further analysis of police training to ascertain whether sufficient guidance is provided to fully equip police officers when faced with aggressive young women. This study focused on police officers’ own views and experiences but future research could consider a more ethnographic approach to observe police decision making in practice to determine whether the stereotypes portrayed were a true reflection of their experiences. Originality/value – This is one of only a very few studies that has explored the relation between gender and arrest decision making. It enhances the understanding of how young women come to be arrested and indicates how police officers are currently ill equipped to effectively respond to young women considered violent.

School personnel are particularly culpable in this regard, maintaining an image of schooling as a system focussed on relatively stable class groups. The available data, however, paint a very different picture, and one which compels not only the attention of educators but a variety of individuals from the helping professions and welfare agencies. This article explores the nature of student mobility and its effects on children. Particular attention is given to support programs for mobile children with the focus on policy development, remedial instruction, and counselling. The dynamic nature of Australia's population is a significant demographic feature of Australian life and yet it is not widely recognized or appreciated by the community at large or by the country's policy makers. As with other highly mobile populations in developed countries around the world, there exists an illusion of stability in both the work-place and in domestic life (Settles, 1993).

Abstract:
This research examined the revitalization of correctional administration, especially related to the role of probation officers. They have a strategic role in correction revitalization that is the pre-adjudication, adjudication and post-adjudication phases. The core business is community research, guidance, legal assistance, supervision, and a team of correctional observers. This research used a mix-method approach, namely, quantitative and qualitative. It consisted of primary data obtained from respondents with a google form questionnaire, a depth-interview with informants, and secondary data collected by books, journals, regulations, theory, and other literature. The results showed that the role had not optimized yet, It was influenced by some factors that were, a lack of the capacity, competence, and skills of the probation officers then, the ratio of the number of clients to the probation officers, budget support, facilities, and infrastructure to carry out the goals. Then the obstacles, namely the difference in perceptions of regulations/rules between correctional technical implementing units related to the duties and functions of probation officers, their skills, in terms of capacity, quantity, and quality to support the revitalization of correctional and lacking budget were factors that affected the optimization of their duties and functions.

Abstract:
Introduction: The high incidence of fires in the DKI Jakarta area certainly increases the risk for DKI Jakarta Firefighters, so Personal Protective Equipment is mandatory for officers when carrying out firefighting operations to prevent and control potential hazards for firefighters. It was recorded that 76 officers were injured and 1 officer died while carrying out firefighting operations in the last 5 (five) years. So it is necessary to know the factors that influence the behavior of using the SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) respiratory Personal Protective Equipment. Methods: This quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach was carried out at the DKI Jakarta Provincial Fire and Rescue Service in 2021 with a population of all DKI Jakarta firefighters and a total sample of 208 firefighters. The instrument used is a questionnaire. Results: The results of data analysis carried out univariate and bivariate using the chi square test with = 0.05 showed a significant relationship between the behavior of using PPE SCBA with the availability of PPE (Pvalue = 0.000), Regulations (SOP) related to the use of PPE (Pvalue = 0.000) and Supervision (Pvalue = 0.000). However, there is no significant relationship between the behavior of using PPE SCBA with knowledge of PPE (Pvalue = 0.180), Age (Pvalue = 0.111), years of service (Pvalue = 0.065), training (Pvalue = 0.087) and PPE comfort (Pvalue = 0.513). Discussion: The behavior of using SCBA PPE for DKI Jakarta firefighters in 2021 is still relatively low because only 54.5% of respondents from firefighters stated that they used SCBA PPE in every fire fighting operation. So it is necessary to increase knowledge related to PPE and skills in using PPE for operational officers through education and training activities, training and technical guidance.

Abstract:
Group social guidance is a method of social work that aims to help individuals to improve their social functions through certain experiences within the group so that they are able to overcome the problems they face, whether problems involving themselves, their group and society. In providing guidance for drug convicts, group social guidance tends to be more effective than individual social guidance. The forms of group social guidance carried out in correctional institutions include general education, skills education, mental spiritual development, socio-cultural and work activities. The problems that were studied are how to apply group social guidance for drug convicts, what the benefits of the guidance are and whether there are obstacles it faces. The method used is empirical normative method. The results of the study concluded that (1) Group social guidance for drug convicts is carried out in collaboration with the Wahana Bhakti Sejahtera Foundation which specifically handles drug convicts and it has been running properly, implemented through spiritual group activities, sports, arts, legal awareness and work guidance. (2) Group social guidance activities show good results, as can be seen from the positive self-changes in drug convicts. (3) The obstacles are the limited infrastructure for development, drug convicts’ laziness in following guidance, the lack of application of values and the lack of active participation of the officers as social workers in conducting guidance. It is recommended to add facilities and infrastructure for medical therapy and social rehabilitation for convicts who are ex-drug users.
