Abstract:
We investigate the applicability and usefulness of the GUHA data mining method and its computer implementation LISp-Miner for driver characterization based on digital vehicle data on gas pedal position, vehicle speed, and others. Three analytical questions are assessed: (1) Which measured features, also called attributes, distinguish each driver from all other drivers? (2) Comparing one driver separately in pairs with each of the other drivers, which are the most distinguishing attributes? (3) Comparing one driver separately in pairs with each of the other drivers, which attributes values show significant differences between drivers? The analyzed data consist of 94,380 measurements and contain clear and understandable patterns to be found by LISp-Miner. In conclusion, we find that the GUHA method is well suited for such tasks.

Mishra, Bharavi, and K. K. Shukla. "Software Defect Prediction Based on GUHA Data Mining Procedure and Multi-Objective Pareto Efficient Rule Selection." International Journal of Software Science and Computational Intelligence 6, no. 2 (April 2014): 1–29. http://dx.doi.org/10.4018/ijssci.2014040101.

Abstract:
Software defect prediction, if is effective, enables the developers to distribute their testing efforts efficiently and let them focus on defect prone modules. It would be very resource consuming to test all the modules while the defect lies in fraction of modules. Information about fault-proneness of classes and methods can be used to develop new strategies which can help mitigate the overall development cost and increase the customer satisfaction. Several machine learning strategies have been used in recent past to identify defective modules. These models are built using publicly available historical software defect data sets. Most of the proposed techniques are not able to deal with the class imbalance problem efficiently. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a prediction model which consists of small simple and comprehensible rules. Considering these facts, in this paper, the authors propose a novel defect prediction approach named GUHA based Classification Association Rule Mining algorithm (G-CARM) where “GUHA” stands for General Unary Hypothesis Automaton. G-CARM approach is primarily based on Classification Association Rule Mining, and deploys a two stage process involving attribute discretization, and rule generation using GUHA. GUHA is oldest yet very powerful method of pattern mining. The basic idea of GUHA procedure is to mine the interesting attribute patterns that indicate defect proneness. The new method has been compared against five other models reported in recent literature viz. Naive Bayes, Support Vector Machine, RIPPER, J48 and Nearest Neighbour classifier by using several measures, including AUC and probability of detection. The experimental results indicate that the prediction performance of G-CARM approach is better than other prediction approaches. The authors' approach achieved 76% mean recall and 83% mean precision for defective modules and 93% mean recall and 83% mean precision for non-defective modules on CM1, KC1, KC2 and Eclipse data sets. Further defect rule generation process often generates a large number of rules which require considerable efforts while using these rules as a defect predictor, hence, a rule sub-set selection process is also proposed to select best set of rules according to the requirements. Evolution criteria for defect prediction like sensitivity, specificity, precision often compete against each other. It is therefore, important to use multi-objective optimization algorithms for selecting prediction rules. In this paper the authors report prediction rules that are Pareto efficient in the sense that no further improvements in the rule set is possible without sacrificing some performance criteria. Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm has been used to find Pareto front and defect prediction rules.

I would first of all like to thank the Anthropological Survey of India for inviting me to deliver the Elwin Memorial Lecture at a national seminar on ‘Verrier Elwin and his Field Method’ held at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in May 2018. I have chosen to speak on ‘Verrier Elwin and his Fieldwork Method’ in view of the paucity of information on the subject, as neither Elwin has written on how he conducted his fieldwork or what his methodology of fieldwork was, nor have others written much about his method of fieldwork. Indeed, many like Enthoven (1946) and Devereux (1946) have written on the richness, soundness and reliability of his data, but they are silent about how he collected his data or what his fieldwork method was like. Among the few who I know have written on Elwin’s fieldwork method are Bhabagrahi Misra ( 1970 , 1971 ), Ramachandra Guha ( 1998 , 1999 ) and Vinay Kumar Srivastava (n.d., ms). I am not aware of the writings of any other author on this subject.

Full text
Abstract:
Floods belong to the most hazardous natural disasters and their disaster management heavily relies on precise forecasts. These forecasts are provided by physical models based on differential equations. However, these models do depend on unreliable inputs such as measurements or parameter estimations which causes undesirable inaccuracies. Thus, an appropriate data-mining analysis of the physical model and its precision based on features that determine distinct situations seems to be helpful in adjusting the physical model. An application of fuzzy GUHA method in flood peak prediction is presented. Measured water flow rate data from a system for flood predictions were used in order to mine fuzzy association rules expressed in natural language. The provided data was firstly extended by a generation of artificial variables (features). The resulting variables were later on translated into fuzzy GUHA tables with help of Evaluative Linguistic Expressions in order to mine associations. The found associations were interpreted as fuzzy IF-THEN rules and used jointly with the Perception-based Logical Deduction inference method to predict expected time shift of flow rate peaks forecasted by the given physical model. Results obtained from this adjusted model were statistically evaluated and the improvement in the forecasting accuracy was confirmed.

Full text
Abstract:
The Colebrook equation is implicitly given in respect to the unknown flow friction factor λ; λ = ζ ( R e , ε * , λ ) which cannot be expressed explicitly in exact way without simplifications and use of approximate calculus. A common approach to solve it is through the Newton–Raphson iterative procedure or through the fixed-point iterative procedure. Both require in some cases, up to seven iterations. On the other hand, numerous more powerful iterative methods such as three- or two-point methods, etc. are available. The purpose is to choose optimal iterative method in order to solve the implicit Colebrook equation for flow friction accurately using the least possible number of iterations. The methods are thoroughly tested and those which require the least possible number of iterations to reach the accurate solution are identified. The most powerful three-point methods require, in the worst case, only two iterations to reach the final solution. The recommended representatives are Sharma–Guha–Gupta, Sharma–Sharma, Sharma–Arora, Džunić–Petković–Petković; Bi–Ren–Wu, Chun–Neta based on Kung–Traub, Neta, and the Jain method based on the Steffensen scheme. The recommended iterative methods can reach the final accurate solution with the least possible number of iterations. The approach is hybrid between the iterative procedure and one-step explicit approximations and can be used in engineering design for initial rough, but also for final fine calculations.

Knowledge about Garuda Pancasila as a symbol of the Republic of Indonesia is very necessary to be learned as early as possible. Various learning methods have been used in order to introduce the Garuda Pancasila to the community, especially elementary school students. But sometimes these methods make students feel bored quickly so they are not serious in carrying out the learning process. Therefore, we need media that can entertain and provide education to the students. By using 2D animation, it is expected that the learning process can be conveyed in a more fun and enjoyable way. For this reason, a 2D animation film was made as a learning medium to introduce the symbol of the country. The process of making this 2D animated film becomes more focused by using the Godfrey method. A method of testing in the form of a survey was conducted to elementary school students about messages conveyed in the 2D animated film. The results of the test proved that the film is an effective learning medium to convey the moral messages about the importance of knowing the symbol of the country and the values contained therein for children.

Diabetes mellitus is the result of changes in the body caused by a decrease of insulin performance which is characterized by an increase of blood sugar level. Detection of blood sugar can be done with Invasive methods or non-invasive methods. However, non-invasive methods are considered better because they can check early, faster and accurate. The prototype output is values of intensity in the time domain, thus fourier transformation is very much needed to transform into the frequency domain. In this study, Fourier transformation methods used are Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT), Fast Fourier Transform Radix-2, and Fast Fourier Transform Radix-4. Evaluation for the best method is done by comparing the processing speed of each method. The FFT Radix-4 method is more effective to perform the transformation into the frequency domain. The average processing speed with the FFT Radix-4 method reaches 2.67×105 nanoseconds, and this is much faster 5.06×106 nanoseconds than the FFT Radix-2 method and 2.40×107 nanoseconds faster than the DFT method.

Kidang Cave is a habitation of prehistoric people, which has been studied by the Yogyakarta Archaeological Centre since 2005 and still continues until now. A survey over the surface of the karst region of Blora reveals that Kidang Cave is the only habitable cave based on the morphology of the land, circulation of sunlight, slant, humidity, and surface finds. Thisarticle tries to explore and unveil traces of the site location that serves as a chronological bridge of continuity between the Pleistocene and the Holocene cultures, which is still obscure. In addition, it is interesting to note that further study is needed pertaining to the location of the cave, which is surrounded by Pleistocene sites that during the last research in 2013 has shed some light on that matter. The methods employed here are excavation at Kidang Cave and analyses on archaeological finds, stratigraphy, and the environment. Based on results of seven times of researches, it can be concluded that Kidang Cave had been intensively inhabited by prehistoric people and contains wide-ranging finds, which include artifacts, features, and ecofacts, as well as skeletons of Homo sapiens.

Abstract:
HYDROLYSIS OF POLYCOXARIDA XYLANE STRAW USING STRONG ACID ACID SOLUTION FOR BASIC MATERIALS OF BIOETANOL PRODUCTION ABSTRACTHydrolysis is the process of breaking polysaccharides (sugar complexes) into simpler polymers, considering the main requirements of the fermentation process for bioethanol production are monomeric or dimeric sugars. The polysaccharides used are the results of pretreatment and extraction of straw. The use of chemical methods in the hydrolysis process aims to obtain optimum results with a short time. The research method used is acid hydrolysis by comparing two types of strong acid solutions namely sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and hydrochloric acid (HCl) with a concentration of each of 0.5 N. Hydrolysis is carried out under conditions at a temperature of 115 0C for 60 minutes at a pressure of 1 atm. The simple sugar produced was tested with a total sugar test, the result of the reducing sugar was known from the total sugar difference in the control without treatment. The total sugar test was carried out using the Dubois method, this test was carried out on the optimum results of hydrolysis, namely hydrochloric acid (HCl). The sample tested were, xylan (XI) and control (-) xylan (k-x). Analysis of total sugar yielded as much as 2,906 mg / L for XI, as much as 728 mg / L for (k-x) the result of the acquisition of reducing sugars was 2,124 mg / L. The difference of the result total sugar produced between treatment and control indicates that the hydrolysis process succeeded in obtaining reducing sugars. Keywords: complex sugar, acid hydrolysis, simple sugar, reducing sugar and total sugar

Cassava chips are a daily staple food for the community, cassava chips have a distinctive form that has never been changed since the first time they were made, namely a circular flat with a crispy texture. Cassava chips are food products made from cassava which have been known for a long time in Indonesia, cassava chips are also widely favored by the Indonesian people because they have a delicious, nutritious taste and the price is also affordable. Based on observations at SMEs know in the village of Manggar, Sluke District, Rembang Regency. It is known that the process of making cassava chips through various stages, ranging from the selection of cassava, cassava stripping and cassava cutting to pressing. In Mubarok UKM the cutting process is only done in 3 hours a day and in one month it is only done in 15 days. In Mubarok UKM, the cutting process still uses a simple tool, namely a knife, and a thread cutter by hand as the motor. With existing tools in UKM there are process constraints that are manual and require a long time, the resulting output is a little with a long time and the quality of pieces that are not uniform and the tools used are less ergonomic, the size of the tool, the tool still causes workers to be diseased, causing a decrease productivity. In this case I designed a tool for cassava cutters to improve the effectiveness and productivity of the MSME. The method used in the design of the tool is methodological. The rational method is one of the product design methods that uses a systematic approach at each stage to produce potential solutions. . . Abstract:
The role of the National Land Law in development is not yet perfect, but in reality the National Land Law has also succeeded in supporting development activities in all fields in the supply and management or utilization of the required land and legal certainty in its control and management or use. This study aims to examine building rights for investment in tourism. The method used is a normative research method due to legal uncertainty in the regulation of building rights as a form of tourism investment. The development of the tourism industry has an impact on various aspects of people's lives, both from the planned tourism industry and the unplanned implementation of the tourism industry. The impact of the planned implementation of the tourism industry development can be optimally anticipated. The principles of carrying out investments by using building rights as the basis for their rights can help the development of tourism because the holders of land titles do not lose ownership of their land. The structuring of sustainable tourism development is a development that has economic, socio-cultural and environmental dimensions so that it has justice not only for future generations. In this construction, tourism must be seen as a system that includes various components that interact with and influence each other. Therefore, it is needed a synergy of policies governing the implementation of tourism with a multisectoral and multidisciplinary approach to service integration, and the synergy of the government and the community in the use of land with Building Use Rights for tourism purposes

Abstract:
Primajaya Pantes Garment is a company that runs its business in garment sector. However, due to various numbers of requests each month, the company is difficult to determine the amount of production per month that is appropriate to maximize profits. The purpose of this study is to determine the appropriate forecasting method that can be used as a reference to determine the amount of production in the next period and to find a combination of products to maximize profits. Research used forecasting methods, including naive method, moving averages, weighted moving averages, exponential smoothing, exponential smoothing with trend, and linear regression. In addition, this study also used Linear Programming method with Simplex method to determine the best combination of products for the company and to choose a decision using a decision tree to determine which alternative should be done by the company. Results of this study found that the linear regression method is the most appropriate method in determining the forecast demand in the next period. While in the Linear Programming method, constraints used were the constraints of raw materials, labor hours, and limited demand for the product.
