Abstract:
In September 2007 the national team members of the International Inforum (Interindustry Forecasting Project at the University of Maryland) group held the XV annual World Conference in Truijllo, Spain. Such Conferences offer the participants to report their achievements in the different fields concerning the macroeconomic multisectoral modeling approach and data development. The national partners build their country model based on a common input-output accounting structure and a similar econometric modeling approach for sectoral and macroeconomic variables. In each Conference, the contributions refer to the wide spectrum of research activities carried on within the Inforum system of models.

Abstract:
Like most challenging tasks in life rehearsal helps us to improve our performance, and with the interview, rehearsal is essential. This chapter discusses rehearsal strategies for the interview, considering groups, courses, modelling, and feedback (both from the group and on video). The advantages and disadvantages of interview courses are discussed. The chapter explores the benefit of rehearsal groups, the importance of the correct composition of such groups to be a positive influence, and how to give constructive feedback without undermining confidence. The chapter continues with an explanation of the modelling process as a group rehearsal strategy and thinks about how to apply empathy in the rehearsal group in order to enhance communication during the interview. This chapter includes a useful exercise for an interview rehearsal group to work towards having a panoramic perspective of performance.

Abstract:
We have assembled an interdisciplinary group of distinguished authors—all experts in the field—who have been testing the efficacy of cognitive and working-memory training using a combination of behavioral, neuroimaging, meta-analytic, and computational modelling methods. This edited volume is a defining resource on the practicality, utility, and validity of the field of cognitive training research in general, and working memory training in particular. Importantly, one focus of the book is on the notion of transfer-namely, the extent to which cognitive training generalizes to learning and performance measures that were decidedly not part of the training regimen.

Kurtz, Suzanne M., and Lara J. Cooke. Learner-centred communication training. Oxford University Press, 2017. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/med/9780198736134.003.0011.

Abstract:
This chapter provides an overview of core principles and key strategies for teaching communication skills using a learner-centred approach. Goals of communication teaching are summarized. Attitudes are important to be developed as a foundation to the masterful use of skills crossing several different communication issues. Communication should focus on mutual understanding. Effective strategies for teaching communication include experiential, learner-centred small-group work that uses observation, feedback, and repeated practice. The Calgary–Cambridge Model is used as an example of a skills-based approach to teaching communication. Following on, agenda-led outcome-based analysis (ALOBA) is presented as a model to for giving feedback and facilitating experiential, learner-centred, problem-based sessions. The authors close with commentary on modelling and the informal curriculum.

Olejnik, Iwona, ed. Qualitative and quantitative methods in sustainable development. Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Ekonomicznego w Poznaniu, 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.18559/978-83-8211-072-2.

Full text
Abstract:
Systematic research and comprehensive analyses allow to monitor the implementation of the sustainable development goals. Obviously, when you are interested in the selected issue of sustainable development, it is worth using data from the secondary sources in the first place. This e-book presents a few selected methods that will allow you to answer the questions: how to gather data and how to analyse them? Among the data collection methods presented in this book, we have chosen both: qualitative, in particular focus group interview, and quantitative—based on a questionnaire. In terms of data analysis methods, we present three methods: factor analysis, structural equation modelling and data envelopment analysis. The examples presented in this book relate to sustainable development, for example: sustainable consumption, ecological culture, better nutrition, agricultural development and many more. The book consists of five chapters. Chapter 1 “Qualitative methods” presents the issues concerning the methodology of qualitative research, designing a focus group interview, conducting a focus group interview and analysis of qualitative data using the CAQDAS programs. The main goal of Chapter 2 titled “Quantitative methods” is to exhibit the basics of survey research that can be used in analyses of sustainable development. In particular, this part presents the measurement levels, questionnaire design, population and sample, and the ways of presenting the results of quantitative research. Chapter 3 “Factor analysis in sustainable development research” describes the basic theoretical aspects of factor analysis. The second part of this chapter presents an example of the use of this method in research on sustainable consumption. The last part of this chapter presents case study of the use of factor analysis in research on managers’ ethics in retail industry. Chapter 4 titled “Structural equation modelling in sustainable development research” is dedicated to the structural equation modeling methods applied to solve sustainable development research problems. A structural equation model is an abstraction of reality, and the researcher's job is to build a model that approximates that reality as closely as possible. And the aim of Chapter 5 “Data envelopment analysis methods in sustainable agricultural development research” is to determine the relative technical efficiency of representative agricultural farms from the individual European Union countries.
