Abstract:
The dynamic design of graphic language can be seen everywhere in life as the digital media era progresses. Graphic designs, such as product packaging, poster design, book binding design, and logo design, are examples of traditional visual design. The print media is the most important factor. Graphic design that is aided by digital media technology is not limited to print but also includes network media. The teaching research of China’s visual design specialty is still in its early stages, the relevant teaching system reform of various colleges and universities is still being explored, and there is no unified standard in the digital information age. As a result, it is critical to conduct in-depth research using scientific and systematic methods in order to pave the way for the development of a domestic visual design specialty in the information age. Simultaneously, the popularization and development of new media have had a significant impact on traditional printing media, breaking the monotony of traditional visual communication and making modern visual design more vivid and intuitive. Visual perception in psychology is introduced into design thinking in this paper. Apart from its expression in art culture, the concept of space also encompasses the physics concepts of time and space, as well as the scientific research theory of visual perception in psychology, which transcends the perceptual cognition level of space in art design.

Abstract:
Large class-sizes have become a common feature in almost all higher education institutions in developing countries. Consequently, educators have to implement innovative pedagogies and assessment practices to deal with the current challenges in education delivery at that level. The purpose of this study was to examine students’ perceptions of their attitudes during peer assessment practice in graphic design studio in higher education. The study was conducted with 94 students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. The results showed that the students had a positive experience and perception of the peer assessment process. They also held positive views of the task worth of peer-assessment just like their perception of peer-assessment as an aid to learning. The results revealed that peer learning and objectivity are significantly related to task worth. The findings of this study have confirmed the advantages associated with the use of peer-assessment in higher education instead of a teacher centered approach and reaffirmed the existing unequivocal views held by similar studies. Keywords: Peer assessment; students’ perceptions; studio pedagogy; graphic design

Abstract:
Visual communication design (VCD) is a form of nonverbal communication. The application of relevant linguistic or semiotic theories to VCD education renders graphic design an innovative and scientific discipline. In this study, actual teaching activities were examined to verify the feasibility of applying narrative theory to graphic design courses. Matched group design was employed to equally divide 30 participants into experimental and control groups, who participated in distinct activities over a 4-week period. The results revealed that incorporating narrative theory into graphic design courses enabled increasing students’ poster design capabilities across various dimensions, including thematic concept, image creativity, and visual aesthetic. Narrative is a storytelling method. Applying narrative techniques to VCD not only facilitates the creativity of designers, but also elicits the audience’s visual memory, thereby encouraging a bidirectional communication between the two entities.

Abstract:
Graphic design is one of the design disciplines with the longest history in the history of human design. As a marginal discipline, it integrates science and art organically. Graphic design has three basic characteristics: information, art, and economy. Information refers to the fact that graphic design is a carrier of information communication, and graphic design works have the practical function of specific information transmission. Among them, graphic design language is the direct form of information communication, but there is a relative lack of research on the intelligent recognition of graphic design language. To address this problem, this paper focuses on the analysis method of graphic design language based on artificial intelligence visual communication. First, in order to segment different parts of the image more accurately, this paper improves a deep learning-based image segmentation method. The method uses a three-branch network structure to learn semantic information, detail information, and fusion information, respectively. The coding network uses a lightweight convolutional neural network and adds an attention mechanism in the branches to weight the importance of image feature channels, and the features extracted from different perceptual fields of the image are multiscale fused to fuse the features extracted from different stages of the coding network. Then, the salient target regions are detected on the basis of segmented images, the salient target emotions are analyzed by using feature pyramids to improve the convolutional neural network, the emotions expressed by graphic design language are analyzed by constructing a weighted loss convolutional neural network on a multilayer supervised module, and the salient target emotions are fused to obtain the final emotion classification results. The experimental results show that our proposed method outperforms traditional segmentation methods in the dataset, and the sentiment analysis based on segmented images can obtain higher sentiment classification accuracy than the sentiment analysis method that directly identifies the whole image, which is beneficial to the research and application of graphic design language.

Abstract:
With the continuous development of society, only relying on words can no longer satisfy the mutual communication between people and countries. In the background of the data era, graphics language also meets more opportunities and challenges, so it is of great significance to transform data into the graphics language. This paper mainly designs a set of a data-based intelligent system. Through the research of multi-dimensional data visualization, firstly, the high-dimensional data is processed to reduce the dimension, so as to get the lower dimensional data, and then the low-dimensional data is transformed into a more intuitive type of graphic markers, so that users can understand the high-dimensional data more intuitively. The research results show that the system can provide users with the most appropriate label type and save users more time and energy. Data visualization has different experiences for different users, so it is a very important challenge to make users feel that pivoting is as effective as possible.

Abstract Having graduated in architecture at the University of Technology Wien [Vienna], I subsequently engaged in post-graduate studies at The Bartlett School of Architecture and Planning / University College London. Corporate design and signage design attracted my attention. Back home a major bank and Vienna airport (VIE), among others, were the first clients of my company. As chairman of Committee 133 “Public information symbols” of “Austrian Standards”, I was responsible for the elaboration of several theme specific national and international standards. In 1993 I founded the IIID International Institute for Information Design. Several r&d projects within the frame of the 6th and 7th European Union Framework Programmes for Research and Technological Development were carried out. However, due to the required but denied support from the Austrian Ministry of Science and Research, the founding of an interdisciplinary institute, affiliated to the United Nations University (UNU), did not materialize. No chance either to establish “Visual Communication Design” at a local university. Until now the Department of Typography and Graphic Communication of The University of Reading (UK) seems to be the only theme specific institution on tertiary university level in Europe. Challenges nowadays range from legible medical package inserts to a much required unified system for the European Union highway signs.

A content analysis of three U.S. Internet newspapers has found that Internet newspapers gave more priority to providing textual information than graphic information, and large graphics were more likely to appear on homepages than on frontpages and news article pages. The news links and the multiple communication channels adopted by Internet newspapers in web page design created a new environment of communication, involving more than host newspaper and initial audience. With interconnected links, the traditional one-to-many newspaper publishing process turned into many-to-many communication centered with and facilitated by the host Internet newspapers. The interconnected news links brought in audience participation in producing newspaper content and providing information beyond the original newspaper content, which demonstrates a shift of balance of communicative power from sender to receiver.

Abstract:
Art, in a way, is a form of communication, which allows the artist to express their view to the world, show their interpretation and let others see the world through the eyes of the artist. Calendars are the most popular and long-term means of advertising, which is why their design requires a lot of attention. It is important that it does not only look good, but also provides information, fulfils the function of a promotional souvenir and creates an image throughout the entire year ahead. Graphic design is a form of visual communication whose purpose is to solve visual and graphic problems using artistic approaches provided by typography, different printing technologies, or image processing techniques, mechanical or analogue methods, or digital, with the aim to create a graphic design work or solve a graphic problem. Graphic design is more like a visual intermediary between the message and its recipient and a way of delivering the message to the recipient. The Aim of the Article: study graphics as the dominant feature of art in the design of calendars created by modern Latvian artists and analyse expert interviews to find out the opinions of specialists in the field about the significance of the content and design of artistic calendars nowadays. The research results were obtained using theoretical research methods: the study, analysis and evaluation of scientific and journalistic literature and Internet sources, which reveals the essence of the problem in question; expert interviews were carried out as well, which are empirical research methods.

Abstract:
Guidance on improving the visual aspects of science communication range from “recipe”-style instructions to hyper-focused aspects of data visualization. Currently lacking in the peer-reviewed literature is a primer in graphic design tailored to a high-level overview of basic design principles and associated jargon related to layout, imagery, typeface, and colour. We illustrate why these aspects are important to effective communication. Further, we provide considerations on when to solicit professional assistance and what to expect when working with graphic designers. Having the fundamental principles of good design in your toolbox facilitates the production of effective visual communication related to your research and fruitful scientist–designer collaborations.

Abstract:
With the popularity of neural network research, the application based on neural network model is gradually applied to all aspects of people’s life. Neural network model can not only solve the algebraic problems that traditional machine learning can solve but also recognize and analyze graphics through self-learning. For example, face recognition, web page recognition, product packaging design, and application are inseparable from the dissemination of graphic language. When these processes are realized through computer language, it is necessary to accurately identify these graphic languages. However, traditional machine language learning has poor performance in graphic language learning, which further leads to the application to achieve the purpose of the original visual communication design. Therefore, based on the neural network algorithm, this paper improves a new neural network model—two-way long- and short-memory model to make the computer recognize the graphic language more accurate and further explores the graphic language representation in the visual communication design based on the two-way long- and short-memory model.

Abstract:
Writing is one of the main communication tools that has been widely used since the Sumerian civilization discovered it. While it had a symbolic attitude in its form in the first periods of its discovery, it was simplified over time and brought to the basic form we use today. With the discipline of typography, which allows us to use writing, which is one of the main constituent of visual communication and graphic design, both aesthetically and functionally, graphic designers visualize writing in variety of different forms, traditional and contemporary. Today, visual communication is one of the most important concepts encountered in every aspect of human life. People are now trying to meet their communication needs faster by looking and seeing instead of reading. In this study, rather than recording the verbal language, which is the main function of writing, it is explained by giving examples how writing is used as an imaginary language of expression in different art and design disciplines, especially in the graphic design discipline. In this direction, the typographic image style is defined in the study and the concept of typographic image is explained by giving examples in the disciplines of sculpture, architecture, interior architecture, textile and fashion design, and industrial design, especially in the discipline of graphic design. Abstract:
This article examines graphic design’s role within design activism. It outlines design activism in general and its relation to commercial design culture in a consumerist economy. Thereafter it discusses persuasive tendencies in graphic design and questions if its current contribution to design activism is limited to its predominant narrow role of persuading for “the good cause.” To illustrate the hypothesis that such a persuasive approach lacks activist potential and thus social impact, cases that represent traditional graphic-design activism are compared to alternative approaches with an informative rather than persuasive character. The latter cases exemplify how information design can challenge the status quo and range from conventional leaflets to interactive tools and data visualizations. The discussion explores how these cases work as a non-commercial service to its audience, rather than solely solving communicative problems for commissioning clients. It is argued that in this way visual communication can intervene into problems on a functional level, similarly to artifacts from design disciplines such as architecture and industrial or product design.

Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to identify the features of successful graphic designers of the 21st-century positioning on the pages of the social network Instagram, highlight the directions of communication strategies and approaches to their visualization. Research methodology. To carry out this study, we used the empirical method of collecting factual material, analysis, comparison, and generalization methods. The principal source of analytics is designers’ Instagram pages as factual material. The scientific novelty of the study consists in a comparative analysis of graphic designers’ communicative images on Instagram pages, based on which, for the first time, an attempt was made to systematize communicative contact strategies with subscribers. There are four possible approaches to creating the communicative image of the designer, which, however, do not exhaust the entire range of options. Conclusions. The communicative image use for communication on social networking pages is a reasonable and effective method of a designer’s professional development, as the number of subscribers on such pages is much bigger and reaches several hundred thousand active subscribers. The design of social communication by designers with their audience is contained in the planning of the strategy of the communication process as a whole, the tactics of individual communication acts (posts), the allocation of several types of content, and their rhythmic alternation and design. The design of social communication by designers with their audience is contained in planning the communication process strategy as a whole, the individual communication acts (posts) tactics, the allocation of several types of content, and their rhythmic alternation and design. These components combination increases the effectiveness of the designer’s communicative image, presented on the social network pages. This, in turn, together with the constant contact with subscribers, ensures the popularity of the designer, increases the range of potential customers and promotes professional growth.

Abstract:
Many studies have been performed in the field of graphic design to prevent and monitor the coronavirus disease global outbreak, which emerged in Wuhan City, China, and has been announced as a pandemic by the World Health Organisation. Graphic Design has always taken a stand towards positive thinking by enhancing creative reactions to the challenging conditions (conditions in which there is no physical human connection, movement is restricted, concerns increase, etc.) that human beings have faced up so far and has supported the idea of the world that is trying to heal. The aim of this study is to examine the communication power that graphic design has created during the pandemic process by inspecting the current works of a common language which has been put forward as a graphic language in order to be united in the name of graphic design, both in the information charts of the coronavirus in the name of graphic design and in this troubled process of the world. In this study, the reaction, contribution and support, which have been developed by Graphic design for the COVID-19 pandemic process, were examined and samples were presented from designers by examining illustrations, posters, infographics, graphic products and so on, which have been made around the world. In addition to this, creative problem solutions and the role of graphic design have also been explored for solving these problems. Keywords: Graphic design, COVID-19, coronavirus, outbreak, epidemic.

The relevance of the research is due both to the lack of research that would comprehend a graphic novel as an independent phenomenon and subject of art history, the youth of the genre, and its relative non-proliferation in the Ukrainian literary space. The vast majority of Russian publications touch on the analysis of specific graphic novels in the context of modern literary studies, which focuses on the narrative and ideological components of individual works without taking into account the role of the visual component for the genre as a whole. In this regard, the article is aimed at identifying the essence of the graphic novel, its differences from the classic for book design relationships of illustration and text, clarifying the nature and role of its communication and semantic saturation taking into account the functions of design as a form of communication, highlighting the unique characteristics of the genre against the background of the traditional genre means and searching for the information and aesthetic potential of the graphic novel in the practice of Ukrainian book design.

For the problems of low-illumination reconstructed images with low resolution and long reconstruction time, an image reconstruction system based on the wavelet domain chunking compressed perception algorithm is proposed. A low-illumination image sampling model is established, and the wavelet domain chunking compression perception and information fusion processing are performed using the depth-of-field adaptive adjustment method of the image. The multiscale Retinex algorithm is used for wavelet domain chunking compressed perception and information extraction, and the information entropy feature quantity of the image is extracted. The IoT-based artificial intelligence image detection system has been formed, which effectively enhances the accuracy and timeliness of the image detection system and makes up for the deficiencies of the traditional image detection system. Simulation results show that the method is used for low-illumination image reconstruction with higher resolution, better edge perception, and shorter reconstruction time, which is more efficient for practical application.

Abstract:
The visual information design refers to the communication and exchange with the real world through the graphic signification. The understanding of a graph is a visual recognition process of the graphic object. The audience can feel the intangibility of the design work behind the tangibility during the transmission, perception, communication and resonance processes. The unconscious mind of the audience is aroused under the visual impact, thus reaching the goal of transmitting the concept of information appeal. Influenced by the holistic view of the Gestalt Psychology, the modern cognitive psychology highlights the comprehensive analysis of human cognitive process, while Gestalt psychologists lay the emphasis on the integrity of experience and behavior. According to the principle of Gestalt Psychology, the form perceived is not the direct imitation of an objective thing, but instead, it is the perceptual construction activity when eyes capture the thing. As a manifestation system in the visual perception research field, the Gestalt Psychology teases the related perceptual organization principles for the human cognitive process and promotes the development of the visual perception researches. Based on the Gestalt Psychology, it is proposed in this research to study psychological phenomena from the holistic dynamic structure, explore the visual information design, and exploit the design field of view and creative thinking, in an effort to form a new design philosophy which will play an important role in improving the aesthetic effect and visual impact of the design work.
