Abstract:
In the northern region of Brazil, information for the sweet potato regarding suitable soil management, especially organic fertilisation and intercropping with species of green manure, are still in the early stages. The aim of this research therefore, was to evaluate the effect of poultry litter on the yield of sweet potato roots grown under a monocrop system and when intercropped with sunn hemp (Crotalaria juncea) under the soil and climate conditions of the State of Roraima. The experiment was carried out in the field from August to December of 2014, in the Sector for Olericulture of the School of Agricultural Technology, on the Murupu Campus of UFRR in the town of Boa Vista, Roraima. A randomised block experimental design was used, with three replications, in a (5 × 2) + 1 factorial scheme, representing five doses of poultry litter (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 t ha-1), with sweet potato as both a monocrop and intercropped with sunn hemp, and one additional treatment with organic and mineral fertiliser. Slips of the Granfina variety of sweet potato were used for planting. Seeds of sunn hemp were sown in double rows between the rows of sweet potato 30 days after planting the slips, with the first cutting carried out 90 days after sowing. The addition of poultry litter to the soil increased the total production of sweet potato roots for the crop planted in Roraima, whether intercropped or not with sunn hemp. Despite the benefits to sweet-potato yield from the addition of poultry litter and the intercrop with sunn hemp, total productivity was greater in the additional treatment that received organic and mineral fertiliser.

GROWTH AND PHYTOMASS OF SWEET POTATO IRRIGATED WITH TREATED WASTEWATER 2 ABSTRACT The use of treated wastewater in the irrigation of agricultural crops is indicated as an alternative to mitigate the problem of water scarcity. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the growth and phytomass of sweet potatoes irrigated with treated wastewater. The study was conducted in a greenhouse belonging to the academic unit of agricultural engineering at the Federal University of Campina Grande, in a randomized block design and 3x2 factorial scheme, with five replications. The factors consisted of three water qualities (T1 = water from a cistern; T2 = water treated by wetland and T3 = water treated by UASB + wetland), and two sweet potato cultivars (Campina and Granfina). At the end of the cultivation cycle, the number of leaves (NF), number of branches (NR), leaf area (AF), stem diameter (DC), fresh leaf phytomass (FFF), fresh branch phytomass (FFR), dry leaf phytomass (FSF) and dry branch phytomass (FSR) were evaluated. The results obtained show that the variables (NF), (NR), (AF), (FFF), (FSF) and (FSR) were significantly influenced by the cultivars. Wastewater treated for irrigation of sweet potatoes can be used without loss of growth and phytomass characteristics. Keywords: Ipomoea batatas L., reuse, drip irrigation, effluent.

"The Role of Education of Women with Excessive Alcohol Consumption and their Genuine Recovery Process in the Context of Developing their Social Capital." Abstract:
Huge numbers of women who are struggling with the excessive alcohol consumption have never looked for the professional help. The part of these women go through the natural process of recovery and they are able to abstain even without the professional help. One of the greatest challenges facing people in recovery from substance addiction is making and sustaining new friendships that are outside of the supportive recovery networks. Engaging with adult education can create opportunities to meet new people and establish new friendships. According to the authors, these personal attributes i.e. good education, sustained employment, and membership in a professional society along with the environmental and contextual conditions i.e. fear of disclosure and the capacity to build renewed structure in their lives, draw on non-using supportive networks and draw space between themselves and the ‘drug world’ constituted a set of formidable resources. According to Cloud and Granfield ‘such attributes and conditions can be seen as resources, or forms of capital, that increase an individual’s capacity to recover. We refer to the aggregate of such capital as ‘’recovery capital’’. The aim of this research is to find out the important fields that are significant for the recovery process of the women overusing alcohol. The research has been realized in qualitative design. The case study has been chosen as a research strategy. To collect data, the method of semi-structured interview has been used and we initiated the interviews using the life curve technique. To compare the study sample, the measure of addiciton of individual participants has been detected retrospectively via the AUDIT testing. The narrative analysis has been used in the phase of data processing and assessment. There have been identified 5 thematic areas through the interview analysis that are related to the recovery process: support of the social environment, personal participaton in the recovery, the change of the state of health, professional treatment and the activity. Each thematic area contains another subthemes. The aim of the research has been fulfilled.
