Abstract:
Maruthar Gopalan Ramachandran (popularly known as MGR) was the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu between 1977 and 1987. But before his famous tenure as a politician began, MGR had already cemented himself in the Tamil imagination through decades of playing the hero-saviour in blockbuster Tamil films, a suite of movies still re-watched with veneration today. Half a century prior to the pervasive social media environment we inhabit today, that turns on an equivalence between image and self, figures like MGR consciously used their star status to convert a fan following into a voter base. In this conversation, Balaji Maheshwar and Karthik Subramanian, two photographers from Tamil Nadu who are both making work exploring MGR’s legacy, open up questions around image worship, image deities and devotees, and the role of cinema in shaping our most intimate memories. Keywords: Maruthar Gopalan Ramachandran, Jayaram Jayalalitha, Tamil cinema, image worship, MGR fan clubs

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
AbstractIndolent non-Hodgkin lymphoma (iNHL), including follicular (FL) and marginal zone (MZL) lymphoma, now enjoy durable disease control with first-line immunochemotherapy, with a median overall survival (OS) of over 15 years in most series (Kahl and Yang 2016). However, iNHL is still widely considered incurable in most cases, and disease history remains characterized by a relapsing and remitting course, with each remission period shorter than the previous one, and OS and progression-free survival (PFS) decrease with each subsequent line of conventional therapy (Batlevi et al. 2020). Patients with unmet needs include approximately 20% of FL patients who experience disease progression within 24 months (POD24) after initial chemoimmunotherapy (with a 5-year OS of 48% (Casulo et al. 2015)—although it remains unclear how much this worse outcome is driven by misdiagnosed transformed follicular lymphoma (Freeman et al. 2019)) and those who fail multiple regimens (5-year PFS of 23%) (Rivas-Delgado et al. 2019) have double refractory disease (Gopal et al. 2017) or experience relapse after autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) (Sesques et al. 2020). Although promising results were obtained with an immunomodulatory regimen combining anti-C20 Moab and lenalidomide (Leonard et al. 2019; Morschhauser et al. 2019), most current approved therapies do not overcome incremental disease resistance, resulting in multiple lines of treatment with cumulative toxicity over a patient’s lifetime. The autologous anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) therapies tisa-cel and axi-cel, which are now approved for patients with relapsed/refractory (r/r) large B cell lymphoma (LBCL), have also been tested in iNHL, with promising results.

Abstract:
Abstract In less technically developed regions, growth monitoring will concentrate on vulnerable young children. As noted, major objectives are both to sustain optimal or adequate weight gain and to identify “invisible “ malnutrition (Grant, 1987) not obvious to the naked eye (Gopalan, 1987) as early as possible by observing slowing of normal growth. These two objectives have usually been undertaken by serial weighing and recording graphically on whatever chart or record is used locally. When preliminary screening is all that is practicable, weighing is done at collecting points at intervals of several months, or the arm circumference is measured.

Abstract:
Gas turbine engine combustors widely employ injection of liquid fuel in cross flow air as a fuel atomization process. Fuel atomization has a major impact on the efficiency, exit profile and emissions of the combustors. Since the quality of spray directly affects the performance of the combustors, it is important to understand a complex phenomenon of spray formation involving trajectory evolution, surface breakup, column fracture and dispersion of secondary droplets. There are several ways of analyzing spray formation which include experimental measurements, numerical analysis using Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS), a combination of output from Volume of Fluid (VOF) and empirical correlations or a hybrid Eulerian-Lagrangian multiscale method. In any of the numerical methods used for the analysis of the sprays, the mesh topology and resolution have a great impact on the accuracy of the predictions. In the present work, evaluation of mesh topology particularly hexahedral and polyhedral meshes, is carried out to understand their effect on the accuracy of the spray prediction and explore the possibility of employing the polyhedral mesh for such a complex phenomenon. The mesh generation for polyhedral meshes is comparatively easier than hexahedral meshes and it has better control on the growth of the element size, resulting in lesser mesh count. A hybrid Eulerian-Lagrangian multiscale method developed earlier is used along with scale resolving turbulence model (Large Eddy Simulation) in this work. The test case considered for the analysis is taken from the experimental analysis done by Gopala et al. [2]. Momentum flux ratio of 10 and weber number of 1500 are selected for the present analysis. Simulation results from both the mesh topologies are compared with the experimental results for quantities like jet penetration length, Sauter mean diameter and droplet velocity profiles at different z/d locations. It is observed that both the mesh topologies considered, perform equally well and therefore, polyhedral mesh topology can be employed successfully for hybrid spray modeling.
