Abstract:
Response inhibition relies on both proactive and reactive mechanisms that exert a synergic control on goal-directed actions. It is typically evaluated by the go/no-go (GNG) and the stop signal task (SST) with response recording based on the key-press method. However, the analysis of discrete variables (i.e., present or absent responses) registered by key-press could be insufficient to capture dynamic aspects of inhibitory control. Trying to overcome this limitation, in the present study we used a mouse tracking procedure to characterize movement profiles related to proactive and reactive inhibition. A total of fifty-three participants performed a cued GNG and an SST. The cued GNG mainly involves proactive control whereas the reactive component is mainly engaged in the SST. We evaluated the velocity profile from mouse trajectories both for responses obtained in the Go conditions and for inhibitory failures. Movements were classified as one-shot when no corrections were observed. Multi-peaked velocity profiles were classified as non-one-shot. A higher proportion of one-shot movements was found in the SST compared to the cued GNG when subjects failed to inhibit responses. This result suggests that proactive control may be responsible for unsmooth profiles in inhibition failures, supporting a differentiation between these tasks.

Abstract:
The field of Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning (MARL) continues to advance with the development of new and effective methods. This research is centered on two prominent approaches within this field: Multi-Agent Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (MADDPG) and Go-Explore. The study explores the synergistic potential of combining these two methodologies to enhance rewards for individual agents as well as for agent groups. In the course of this research, MADDPG is introduced into the experimental environment, providing agents with both actor networks (policy networks) and critic networks (Q networks) to implement the actor-critic model. Additionally, each individual agent is equipped with a Go-Explore network, empowering them to conduct deeper explorations of the environment and accumulate rewards at an accelerated rate, often resulting in higher overall rewards. This novel approach emphasizes achieving a balance between individual and collaborative rewards, offering a promising avenue for optimizing multi-agent systems. The results of this study demonstrate that the combined method exhibits notable advantages in certain scenarios. Specifically, it showcases a higher rate of reward accumulation and improved overall performance. This research contributes to the MARL domain by highlighting the potential of combining MADDPG and Go-Explore to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of multi-agent systems.

Due to the excellent physiochemical properties of graphene oxide (GO), the fabrication of superamphiphobic coatings based on GO can explore the application fields of GO. Herein, superamphiphobic GO coatings are fabricated by simple dip coating GO and organosilane polymer (GO-FAS) dispersion on the cotton fabric, with GO acting as solid lubricant originating from its low friction coefficient. Through compound with PS/PTFE and PVDF-HFP/FAS, the PVDF-HFP/FAS/GO-FAS coating exhibit enhanced anti-abrasion property and can withstand 200 cycles of sandpaper abrasion. This study provides an opportunity for the applications of graphene oxide as superamphiphobic materials.

Abstract:
Graphene oxide (GO) was served as mechanical strengthening to prepare GO/Polyvinyl Alcohol(PVA) composite film. This was accomplished in order to explore the influence of contents of GO on the tensile strength and failure strain of GO/PVA composite film. The results showed that as the GO content increased, the tensile strength of the composite film became greater rapidly at first, and then decreased gradually. When the GO content was 20%, the film had its maximum tensile strength (59.6 MPa). This is over 500% of the tensile strength of pure PVA film. The failure strain of GO/PVA composite film decreased rapidly as the GO content increased. The enhancement mechanism of the composite can be explained by the existence of multi-hydrogen bonds between the hydroxyl (-OH) groups of PVA and oxygen-containing functional groups of GO.

Abstract:
The unprecedented attributes such as biocompatibility and flexibility of macromolecular piezoelectric polymer has triggered an immense interested in scientific society for their potential exploitation in implantable electronic devices. In the present article, a theoretical and experimental investigation is done to explore the polarization behavior of composite fibers based on copolymer poly-trifluoroethylene P(VDF-TrFE) and graphene oxide (GO) with varying composition of the components is explored for its possible application in bioelectronic devices. Electromechanical properties of the PVDF/GO nanofibers were investigated using piezoresponse force microscopy (PFM) method. The switching behavior, charge states, and piezoelectric response of the fibers were found to depend on the concentration of GO up to 20%. Theoretical models of PVDF chains, interacting with Graphene/GO layers has been used to explore the evolution of piezoresponse in the composite fibers. In order to compute piezoelectric coefficients, the behavior of composite in electrical fields has been modeled using software HyperChem. The experimental results are qualitatively correlated with a computed theoretical model.

Journal of the International Neuropsychological Society 29, s1 (November 2023): 458–59. http://dx.doi.org/10.1017/s1355617723005982.

Abstract:
Objective:Adaptive decision-making is necessary to sustain functional independence. Maladaptive decisions are among the most prevalent features of psychological and neurological disorders. One crucial aspect of decision-making involves arbitrating between exploring new avenues with risky but potentially lucrative outcomes or exploiting prior knowledge and endorsing predictable outcomes. Balancing this dichotomy creates a behavioral tension that shapes all decisions and is termed the exploration-exploitation trade-off. This trade-off has been linked to reward and affective drives and associated neural circuitry as well as neuropsychological dysfunction. However, the neural mechanisms underlying the exploration-exploitation trade-off are still uncertain, due to the scarcity of literature and the heterogeneity of paradigms. This study aimed to systematically quantify and disambiguate neuroanatomical correlates of the exploration-exploitation tradeoff in a normative adult sample. These findings provide a necessary starting point for future investigations of this fundamental aspect of decision-making across clinical populations, with potential implications for assessment and intervention.Participants and Methods:We used the effect-location method of meta-analysis to analyze data from 10 functional neuroimaging studies investigating the exploration-exploitation tradeoff in non-clinical samples. We analyzed the location and frequency of significant neural activations across studies for both explorative and exploitative decisions and characterized them as core and non-core regions. Core activations were defined as those reported in over 50% of studies. Secondary and tertiary activations were defined as those reported in 40% and 30% of studies, respectively. The present review was conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the 2009 Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement. Results:The results revealed that explorative and exploitative choice behaviours differed markedly with respect to associated patterns of task-related brain activity. Exploration was associated with activity in brain regions implicated in externally directed, goal-based attentional processing and reward-related uncertainty, mainly tapping bilateral parietal and frontal circuitry, with relatively high consistency across studies. A core explorative network was revealed, consisting of activity in the frontal polar cortex, the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex, the bilateral medial frontal gyrus, the bilateral precuneus, and the bilateral intraparietal sulcus. Secondary and tertiary regions were also detected, including the bilateral anterior insula, the left precentral gyrus, the bilateral superior frontal gyrus, the right inferior frontal gyrus, the left supplementary motor area, the bilateral superior parietal lobule, and the bilateral thalamus. Exploitation was associated with brain regions implicated in internally directed processes including reward valuation, motivation, and memory. Core exploitative activations included the ventromedial prefrontal cortex, the bilateral anterior cingulate cortex, and the bilateral orbitofrontal cortex. Secondary and tertiary activations included the bilateral hippocampus, the left middle temporal gyrus, the bilateral angular gyrus, the left posterior cingulate cortex, the left superior frontal gyrus, and the bilateral superior temporal gyrus. Conclusions:The exploration-exploitation trade-off provides a novel paradigmatic approach to study adaptive and maladaptive decision-making behaviour in humans. Our findings support the neural dichotomization of exploration and exploitation and illuminate potential neural networks underlying this fundamental feature of decision-making. Understanding these mechanistic networks opens a new avenue of inquiry into decision-making deficits in clinical populations, including neurodegenerative, neurodevelopmental, and neuropsychiatric syndromes.

Abstract:
Response inhibition is frequently examined using visual go/no-go tasks. Recently, the auditory go/no-go paradigm has been also applied to several clinical and aging populations. However, age-related changes in the neural underpinnings of auditory go/no-go tasks are yet to be elucidated. We used magnetoencephalography combined with distributed source imaging methods to examine age-associated changes in neural responses to auditory no-go stimuli. Additionally, we compared the performance of high- and low-performing older adults to explore differences in cortical activation. Behavioral performance in terms of response inhibition was similar in younger and older adult groups. Relative to the younger adults, the older adults exhibited reduced cortical activation in the superior and middle temporal gyrus. However, we did not find any significant differences in cortical activation between the high- and low-performing older adults. Our results therefore support the hypothesis that inhibition is reduced during aging. The variation in cognitive performance among older adults confirms the need for further study on the underlying mechanisms of inhibition.

Forgiveness is often distinguished from other ways of eliminating (or reducing) blame, such as letting go. In this paper, I focus on a conception of forgiveness as normative landscape change (alteration of the rights and obligations of relevant parties), and explore the distinction between forgiveness—understood in this way—and letting go. I highlight the explanatory power of this approach for distinguishing forgiveness and letting go, and contrast it with an alternative way, in which the focus is instead primarily on a kind of attitude change. I conclude by comparing the implications of both forgiveness and letting go for other phenomena we care about, such as reconciliation.

Abstract The increasing applications of graphene oxide (GO) in bio-medicine, environment and other fields enhance the exposure possibility of human beings to GO. Studies have been performed to address the in vitro toxicity of GO; however, little information on the in vivo biological consequence of GO with other common disasters is available, especially when cells are co-exposed to GO and common metal ions. To explore the influence and possible mechanisms of such co-exposure scenarios, a series of tests of cell viability, membrane integrity, reactive oxygen species (ROS), cell morphology, and Cd2+ distribution, were conducted. The results showed that the synergistic toxic mechanisms of GO and Cd2+, initiated from the adhesion of GO on HeLa cells, and followed by the recruitment of Cd2+ ions around the cell membrane, impaired the membrane integrity, morphology and adhesion capability, and triggered cell toxicity. The synergistic toxic mechanism of GO and Cu2+ mainly correlated to ROS, while no obvious relationship with membrane integrity was observed. The findings are envisaged to facilitate the application of GO in biology and related fields.

Abstract:
AbstractGraves’ orbitopathy (GO), the most severe manifestation of Graves’ hyperthyroidism (GH), is an autoimmune-mediated inflammatory disorder, and treatments often exhibit a low efficacy. CD4+ T cells have been reported to play vital roles in GO progression. To explore the pathogenic CD4+ T cell types that drive GO progression, we applied single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-Seq), T cell receptor sequencing (TCR-Seq), flow cytometry, immunofluorescence and mixed lymphocyte reaction (MLR) assays to evaluate CD4+ T cells from GO and GH patients. scRNA-Seq revealed the novel GO-specific cell type CD4+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs), which are characterized by chemotactic and inflammatory features. The clonal expansion of this CD4+ CTL population, as demonstrated by TCR-Seq, along with their strong cytotoxic response to autoantigens, localization in orbital sites, and potential relationship with disease relapse provide strong evidence for the pathogenic roles of GZMB and IFN-γ-secreting CD4+ CTLs in GO. Therefore, cytotoxic pathways may become potential therapeutic targets for GO.

Abstract:
In January of 2018, AMAZON.COM Inc. (Amazon) opened its first self-service Amazon Go convenience store in Seattle, Washington. Armed only with a smartphone app tied to a credit card, a customer could enter the store, select merchandise from the aisles and refrigeration cases, and just walk out—no lines, no waiting, no cashier. A can of coke, chocolate bar, or chicken sandwich placed in a shopper’s bag, is identified, accounted for, and charged to a payment card, all facilitated by computer vision, deep learning, and sensor-based information technologies (IT). Based on extensive public sources, the Amazon Go case provides a rich opportunity to explore an IT-enabled startup that potentially threatens three industries: convenience stores, grocery stores, and fast food outlets. In the future, the technology, either by licensing or expansion by Amazon, arguably could disrupt the broader retail industry and its millions of employees. Students have an opportunity to explore the boundary between IT and business strategy, while seeing the potential economic implications of fixed cost investments in IT. They will see how one company, Amazon, strategically develops, deploys, and extends its growing arsenal of IT weapons. The case also catalyzes discussions of social issues, including the impact of technology on employment and the tradeoffs between personal privacy and customer service.

AbstractThis study is focused on the adsorption of hexavalent chromium ions Cr(vi) using graphene oxide (GO). The GO was prepared by chemical oxidation (Hummers method) of graphite particles. The synthesized GO adsorbent was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and UV-Vis spectroscopy. It was used for the adsorption of Cr(vi) ions. The theoretical calculations based on density functional theory and Monte Carlo calculations were used to explore the preferable adsorption site, interaction type, and adsorption energy of GO toward the Cr(vi) ions. Moreover, the most stable adsorption sites were used to calculate and plot noncovalent interactions. The obtained results are important as they give molecular insights regarding the nature of the interaction between GO surface and the adsorbent Cr(vi) ions. The found adsorption energy of −143.80 kcal/mol is indicative of the high adsorptive tendency of this material. The adsorption capacity value of GO toward these ions is q = 240.361 mg/g.

High-degree functionalization of graphene oxide (GO) nanoparticles (NPs) using polydopamine (PDA) was conducted to produce polydopamine functionalized graphene oxide nanoparticles (GO-PDA NPs). Aiming to explore their potential use as nanofiller in membrane separation processes, the spectral and structural properties of GO-PDA NPs were comprehensively analyzed. GO NPs were first prepared by the oxidation of graphite via a modified Hummers method. The obtained GO NPs were then functionalized with PDA using a GO:PDA ratio of 1:2 to obtain highly aminated GO NPs. The structural change was evaluated using XRD, FTIR-UATR, Raman spectroscopy, SEM and TEM. Several bands have emerged in the FTIR spectra of GO-PDA attributed to the amine groups of PDA confirming the high functionalization degree of GO NPs. Raman spectra and XRD patterns showed different crystalline structures and defects and higher interlayer spacing of GO-PDA. The change in elemental compositions was confirmed by XPS and CHNSO elemental analysis and showed an emerging N 1s core-level in the GO-PDA survey spectra corresponding to the amine groups of PDA. GO-PDA NPs showed better dispersibility in polar and nonpolar solvents expanding their potential utilization for different purposes. Furthermore, GO and GO-PDA-coated membranes were prepared via pressure-assisted self-assembly technique (PAS) using low concentrations of NPs (1 wt. %). Contact angle measurements showed excellent hydrophilic properties of GO-PDA with an average contact angle of (27.8°).

Gene Ontology (GO) analysis can provide a comprehensive function analysis for investigating genes, allowing us to identify the potential biological roles of genes. The present study conducted GO analysis to explore the biological function of IRAK2 and performed a case analysis to define its clinical role in disease progression and mediating tumor response to RT. Methods: We performed a GO enrichment analysis on the RNA-seq data to validate radiation-induced gene expression. A total of 172 I-IVB specimens from oral squamous cell carcinoma patients were collected for clinical analysis, from which IRAK2 expression was analyzed by immunohistochemistry. This was a retrospective study conducted between IRAK2 expression and the outcomes of oral squamous cell carcinoma patients after radiotherapy treatment. We conducted Gene Ontology (GO) analysis to explore the biological function of IRAK2 and performed a case analysis to define its clinical role in mediating tumor response to radiotherapy. GO enrichment analysis to validate radiation-induced gene expression was performed. Clinically, 172 stage I-IVB resected oral cancer patients were used to validate IRAK2 expression in predicting clinical outcomes. GO enrichment analysis showed that IRAK2 is involved in 10 of the 14 most enriched GO categories for post-irradiation biological processes, focusing on stress response and immune modulation. Clinically, high IRAK2 expression was correlated with adverse disease features, including pT3-4 status (p = 0.01), advanced overall stage (p = 0.02), and positive bone invasion (p = 0.01). In patients who underwent radiotherapy, the IRAK2-high group was associated with reduced post-irradiation local recurrence (p = 0.025) compared to the IRAK2-low group. IRAK2 plays a crucial role in the radiation-induced response. Patients with high IRAK2 expression demonstrated more advanced disease features but predicted higher post-irradiation local control in a clinical setting. These findings support IRAK2 as a potential predictive biomarker for radiotherapy response in non-metastatic and resected oral cancer patients.

Abstract:
This article explores the history and present state of the Occitan go-past. Also known as the perfet perifràstic, this is a characteristic and well-studied feature of the Catalan grammar (vaig cantar go.1sg.pres.ind-sing ‘I sang’), but its existence in Occitan has been ignored to the extent that Catalan is often erroneously thought to be the only Romance language with a go-past. In this article, we first explore the rise and distribution of the go-past in Old Occitan (ca. 13th to 16th centuries) and then focus on the presence of the construction in the contemporary Occitan dialects of Gascony and Guardia Piemontese (a village in Calabria, Italy). We discuss the semantic and morphological particularities of the construction in some detail for both dialects using data from a variety of (little-known) sources, including, for Guardia Piemontese, our own field data. Finally, we provide arguments for the hypothesis that the go-past developed first in Occitania and subsequently diffused into Catalan-speaking areas.

Data were collected from the Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA) and analyzed using Benson et al.'s (1986; 2010) grammatical and lexical collocation types. COCA store all tokens of academic, fiction, movies, blog, newspapers, magazine domains. All occurrences frequency of COCA was retrieved, and 300 tokens consisting of the word come and go were collected. The results showed that the word deictic go was more frequent than the word come in COCA, with a total frequency of occurrence of 55% and 45%, respectively. The type of collocation in the word go also had more variations. The word go had nine types of collocation, whereas the word come had seven types of collocations. This study gives applicable and relevant knowledge to non-native speakers of English.

Abstract:
To explore the mechanical properties of cement-modified iron tailings (CIT) and its adsorption on graphene oxide (GO), the unconfined compressive strength (UCS) tests of CIT with 10% cement were carried out for 7 and 28 days. CIT adsorption of GO was carried out under the conditions of different pH, CIT dosage, and GO initial concentration. The micro characterization of CIT adsorption of GO was carried out by SEM, TEM, AFM, EDS, FT-IR, XRD, and XPS. The results show that: (1) the CIT strength of 28 d curing age is 1202 kPa is twice of 7 d. (2) At the same pH, the GO adsorption effect of CIT at 7 days curing age was better than that at 28 days. When pH is 6, CIT content is 50 mg, and GO initial concentration is 100 mg.L-1, CIT has the best adsorption effect on the GO, and the removal rate reached 93.5%. (3) Through microscopic characterization, it can be concluded that the bound water in the CIT structure and the asymmetric stretching vibration of the O-H bond in hydrated calcium silicate (C-S-H) are the main factors affecting the adsorption of GO. The above research results show that CIT not only has good strength properties but also has good adsorption properties for GO. CIT is a potential environmental treatment material.

Abstract:
Abstract Context Graves’ orbitopathy (GO) is an autoimmune disease that persists when immunosuppression is achieved. Orbital fibroblasts from GO patients display peculiar phenotypes even if not exposed to autoimmunity, possibly reflecting genetic or epigenetic mechanisms, which we investigated here. Objective We aimed to explore potential genetic or epigenetic differences using primary cultures of orbital fibroblasts from GO and control patients. Methods Cell proliferation, hyaluronic acid (HA) secretion, and HA synthases (HAS) were measured. Next-generation sequencing and gene expression analysis of the whole genome were performed, as well as real-time-PCR of selected genes and global DNA methylation assay on orbital fibroblasts from 6 patients with GO and 6 control patients from a referral center. Results Cell proliferation was higher in GO than in control fibroblasts. Likewise, HA in the cell medium was higher in GO fibroblasts. HAS-1 and HAS-2 did not differ between GO and control fibroblasts, whereas HAS-3 was more expressed in GO fibroblasts. No relevant gene variants were detected by whole-genome sequencing. However, 58 genes were found to be differentially expressed in GO compared with control fibroblasts, and RT-PCR confirmed the findings in 10 selected genes. We postulated that the differential gene expression was related to an epigenetic mechanism, reflecting diverse DNA methylation, which we therefore measured. In support of our hypothesis, global DNA methylation was significantly higher in GO fibroblasts. Conclusions We propose that, following an autoimmune insult, DNA methylation elicits differential gene expression and sustains the maintenance of GO.

Abstract:
The stop-signal task, in which participants must inhibit prepotent responses, has been used to identify neural systems that vary with individual differences in inhibitory control. To explore how these differences relate to other aspects of decision making, a drift-diffusion model of simple decisions was fitted to stop-signal task data from go trials to extract measures of caution, motor execution time, and stimulus processing speed for each of 123 participants. These values were used to probe fMRI data to explore individual differences in neural activation. Faster processing of the go stimulus correlated with greater activation in the right frontal pole for both go and stop trials. On stop trials, stimulus processing speed also correlated with regions implicated in inhibitory control, including the right inferior frontal gyrus, medial frontal gyrus, and BG. Individual differences in motor execution time correlated with activation of the right parietal cortex. These findings suggest a robust relationship between the speed of stimulus processing and inhibitory processing at the neural level. This model-based approach provides novel insight into the interrelationships among decision components involved in inhibitory control and raises interesting questions about strategic adjustments in performance and inhibitory deficits associated with psychopathology.

Abstract This semiotic landscape analysis probes urban patterns of racial placement and displacement through an archive of music publicity posters. The music poster archive is a site to map the so-called “Chocolate City” of Washington, D.C., in the 1980s, explore its calendars, rhythms, textures, communication technology, history and movements of segregated black life. These posters advertising go-go music, the city's indigenous black popular music, asserted a territory of black economic, cultural and political power. They resisted the narrative of a sanitized “White City” designed for white tourists. The city's cultural entrepreneurs challenged false dominant narratives and public policies that marginalized black urban culture as dangerous and deviant. A crack-down on postering in the late 1990s was an early harbinger of gentrification.

Augmented reality (AR) mobile game, Pokémon GO, leverages gamification and location tracking technology to encourage players to walk in different places to catch Pokémon characters in real-world settings. The systematic review sought to explore the impact Pokémon GO has on players’ physical activity (PA), and psychological and social outcomes. Six research databases (PubMed, SPORTDiscus, PsycInfo, Web of Science, Science Direct, and Scopus) were used. Study inclusion criteria were: (1) quantitative research published in English; (2) examined the relationships between or impact of Pokémon GO on PA, psychological, and/or social outcomes; and (3) included participants played or exposed to Pokémon GO. Thirty-six studies were included with a total sample of 38,724 participants. Players had significantly greater PA than non-players in terms of daily steps and number of days spent in moderate PA. Pokémon GO game also improved players’ social interactions and their mood/affects. Selective attention and concentration improved in adolescents and memory improved in young adults after playing the game. Findings suggest playing Pokémon GO could promote meaningful improvements in walking behavior, as well as psychological and social well-being. More multidimensional research with randomized controlled trial design is needed to identify factors that influence adoption and sustainability of Pokémon GO playing.

AimsTo explore the role of the suppressor of cytokine signalling 3 (SOCS3) gene in Graves’ ophthalmopathy (GO) patients.MethodsA case–control study was conducted in a Chinese Han population by recruiting 114 Graves’ disease (GD) patients with GO and 156 GD patients without GO. We determined SOCS3 mRNA and protein levels in Epstein–Barr virus-transformed lymphoblastoid cell lines (EBV-LCLs) from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) by quantitative real-time (QRT)-PCR analysis and western blot analysis. We also genotyped five single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the SOCS3 locus (SOCS3 rs12952093, rs4969170, rs4969168, rs4969169 and rs2280148) in all 270 GD patients using ligase detection reaction and multiplex PCR analyses. QRT-PCR and western blot assays were then performed to compare SOCS3 mRNA and protein levels between the rs4969170 AA and GG genotype groups from 20 GO patients.ResultsBasal SOCS3 mRNA and protein expression levels were significantly increased in patients with GO (p<0.05). The SOCS3 rs4969170 AA genotype was strongly associated with GO (OR=3.5, 95% CI 1.6 to 7.5, p=0.001). The AA genotype carriers had significantly higher SOCS3 mRNA and protein levels than those with the GG genotype (p<0.05).ConclusionsPatients with GD who carry the AA genotype of the rs4969170 SNP in SOCS3 are more susceptible to the development of GO.

Abstract:
Pokémon Go is a hugely popular hybrid reality game (HRG) that enables players to occupy a space that is simultaneously physical and digital. The general aim of Pokémon Go is to discover and then capture Pokémon. This article reports on an original research project designed to explore the impact of Pokémon Go on spatiality and sociability. The project was conducted between May 2017 and July 2017, using an online survey which received 375 responses from users of Pokémon Go geographically spread across the globe. Drawing on the concept of the “playeur” as an established approach to understanding the effects of locative play on spatiality and sociability, this research follows three lines of enquiry. First, the research examines whether the intermingling of play and ordinary life might encourage players to spend more time outside in public spaces, and how this mode of play is experienced. Second, the research explores whether the game mechanics of Pokémon Go might lead players to traverse their environment using modified routes, as well as to frequent new places. Third, the research examines whether the praxis of Pokémon Go might enable new forms of sociability to emerge that extend beyond earlier HRGs.

Abstract:
Abstract Purpose The purpose of this article is to investigate the characteristics of Th1-cell and Th17-cell lineages for very severe Graves orbitopathy (GO) development. Methods Flow cytometry was performed with blood samples from GO and Graves disease (GD) patients and healthy controls, to explore effector T-cell phenotypes. Lipidomics was conducted with serum from very severe GO patients before and after glucocorticoid (GC) therapy. Immunohistochemistry and Western blotting were used to examine orbital-infiltrating Th17 cells or in vitro models of Th17 polarization. Results In GD, Th1 cells predominated in peripheral effector T-cell subsets, whereas in GO, Th17-cell lineage predominated. In moderate-to-severe GO, Th17.1 cells expressed retinoic acid receptor-related orphan receptor-γt (RORγt) independently and produced interleukin-17A (IL-17A), whereas in very severe GO, Th17.1 cells co-expressed RORγt and Tbet and produced interferon-γ (IFN-γ). Increased IFN-γ–producing Th17.1 cells positively correlated with GO activity and were associated with the development of very severe GO. Additionally, GC therapy inhibited both Th1-cell and Th17-cell lineages and modulated a lipid panel consisting of 79 serum metabolites. However, in GC-resistant, very severe GO, IFN-γ–producing Th17.1 cells remained at a high level, correlating with increased serum triglycerides. Further, retro-orbital tissues from GC-resistant, very severe GO were shown to be infiltrated by CXCR3+ Th17 cells expressing Tbet and STAT4 and rich in triglycerides that promoted Th1 phenotype in Th17 cells in vitro. Conclusions Our findings address the importance of Th17.1 cells in GO pathogenesis, possibly promoting our understanding of the association between Th17-cell plasticity and disease severity of GO.

Abstract:
This paper investigates the syntactic and semantic features of the construction ‘V -go Siphta' in Korean. The construction ‘V-go Siphta' manifested in forms such as ‘NP2 Ul/Lul V-Ko Siphta' and ‘NP2 I/Ka V-go Siphta' has been a subject of debate. To elucidate the similarities and peculiarities of these ‘V-go Siphta' constructions, an analysis was first conducted on the distinguishing features between ‘NP2 Ul/Lul' and ‘NP2 I/Ka'. Both function as essential components of a sentence, indicating the object. However, ‘NP2 I/Ka' exhibits similarities to an object complement in its difficulty to separate from the predicate. In the case of ‘NP2 I/Ka V-go Siphta', the ‘Siphta' has properties similar to an affix. Based on this analysis, corpus searches revealed that when the verb ‘V' corresponds to sensory verbs such as ‘Mekta' (to eat), ‘Pota' (to see), and ‘Tutta' (to hear), the construction ‘NP2 I/Ka V-go Siphta' is more prevalent than ‘NP2 Ul/Lul V-go Siphta'. Verbs that effectively reflect human desires and longings are more likely to be combined with ‘-go shifta' to develop into psychological adjectives. Thus, while the ‘-go-sifta' structure can function as an auxiliary verb structure, it can also function as a psychological adjective in sentences containing verbs that reflect physiological and primal desires. Therefore, in this paper, we propose two types of syntactic structures to explore further.

Abstract:
Many studies have established that T-lymphocyte antigen-4 (CTLA4) is a susceptible gene for Graves’ disease (GD). Also many studies showed the association between the CTLA4 exon-1 49A/G polymorphism and the risk of developing Graves’ ophthalmopathy (GO) in GD patients. But those results were inconsistent. In recent years many new studies were published which helped to shed light on the relationship of CTLA4 SNP49 with GO. So we performed the meta-analysis to explore the association between the SNP49 and GO susceptibility in GD patients. Studies up to February 29, 2012, were searched by using PubMed. The odds ratio was used to evaluate the strength of the association. Altogether 12 case-control studies involving 2,505 participants were included in the meta-analysis. Results showed that the G allele was related to the increased risk of GO compared with the A allele under allelic genetic model (OR = 1.14, 95% CI: 1.14–1.72,P=0.001) in European subgroup. No publication bias was detected. Our results showed that the SNP49 polymorphism of CTLA4 gene was related to increased risk of GO.

Abstract:
In order to deal with the increasingly serious pollution of graphene oxide (GO) to the environment. In this paper, the use of red sandstone to treat GO-contaminated aqueous solution is proposed for the first time, and the adsorption capacity and adsorption mechanism of red sandstone to GO are discussed. The controlled variable method was used to explore the optimal pH, concentration, and quality of red sandstone for GO aqueous solution. The adsorption isotherm, thermodynamics, and adsorption kinetics were fitted. Adsorption characterization tests were performed using XRD, AFM, XPS, FT-IR, SAP, TEM, SAP, laser particle size analyzer, and SEM. The results show that when T = 303 K , the optimum adsorption condition of red sandstone for GO is pH = 4 , the mass of the adsorbent is 40 mg, and when the concentration of GO is 80 mg/L, the adsorption capacity is 90 mg/g. The adsorption isotherm model fits the Langmuir model. The adsorption thermodynamic experiments and fitting results show that the reaction is endothermic. XRD and FT-IR tests showed that CaCO3 in red sandstone was involved in the adsorption of GO. SEM, TEM, and AFM microscopic results showed that GO was adsorbed on the surface of red sandstone particles. The XPS test showed that Ca2+ in red sandstone and C=O bond in GO undergo ionic or coordination reaction. The adsorption kinetics fit a pseudo-second-order kinetic model. This study will provide some references for the removal of GO in the environment and the interaction mechanism with natural minerals.

Abstract:
Background. The pathogenesis Graves’ Orbitopathy (GO) is not yet fully understood. Here, we conducted a pathway analysis based on genome-wide DNA methylation data of Chinese GO patients to explore GO-related pathways and potential feature genes. Methods. Six GO patients and 6 age-matched control individuals were recruited, and a genome-scale screen of DNA methylation was measured using their peripheral blood sample. After extracting the differentially methylated regions (DMRs), we classified DMRs into three clusters with respect to median absolute deviation (MAD) for GO and control group, respectively. Then the extract tests were performed to identify significant pathways by comparing the counts of genes in each cluster between GO and control group in a pathway. For each significant pathway, we calculated the Methylation-based Inference of Regulatory Activity (MIRA) score to infer the regulatory activity of genes involved in the pathway. Furthermore, we took the significant pathways as the subsets and applied Random forests (RF) method to extract GO-related feature genes. Results. We identified four potential significant pathways associated with the occurrence and development of GO disease. There were Toxoplasmosis, Axon guidance, Focal adhesion, and Proteoglycans in cancer (p<0.001 or p=0.007). The identified genes involved in the significant pathways, such as LDLR (p=0.019), CDK5 (p=0.036), and PIK3CB (p=0.020), were found to be correlated with GO phenotype. Conclusion. Our study suggested pathway analyses can help understand the potential relationships between the DNA methylation level of some certain genes and their regulation in Chinese GO patients.

Background and Objective. A previous study reported alterations in the intestinal microbiota in patients with Graves’ orbitopathy (GO). Thyrotropin receptor autoantibody (TRAb) stimulates orbital and periorbital tissues and plays a pivotal role in the development of GO. However, the association between gut microbiota and TRAb in GO patients has still remained elusive. In this study, we explored the relationships between gut microbiota and GO-related traits, in which we applied a metabolic-network-driven analysis to identify GO trait-related modules and extracted significant operational taxonomic units (OTUs). Methods. In the present study, we profiled gut microbiota using 16S rRNA gene sequencing in 31 GO patients. We performed metabolic-network-driven analysis to investigate the association between gut microbiota and GO-related traits (e.g., TRAb, TGAb, and TPOAb) in the combination of microbial effects. Results. Applying microbiome network analysis of cooccurrence patterns and analysis of topological properties, we found that s_Prevotella_copri and f_Prevotellaceae showed a significant correlation with TRAb. In particular, we applied the latent class model to explore the association between gut microbiota and GO-related traits in the combination of microbial effects. It was revealed that the subjects involved in the latent class model with the higher abundance of s_Prevotella_copri and g_Bacteroides had a higher TRAb level. Conclusions. Our results revealed the potential relationships between gut microbiota and GO-related traits in the combination of microbial effects. This study may provide a new insight into the interaction between the intestinal microbiota and TRAb-associated immune responses in GO patients.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Around every new media technology debates circle about whether the technology is bringing people socially closer or pushing us further apart. According to popular press accounts, Pokémon GO players are absorbed into a game world on their phone with no attention or interest in the “real” world around them. But coupled with these accounts are stories of people exploring their neighborhoods and of marriage proposals in the midst of Pokémon hunting. This article puts Pokémon GO into a longer context of mobile technologies and sociospatial practice to explore the kinds of social interactions that can emerge around and through the use of Pokémon GO. In particular, the article explores how people can use the platform as both an involvement shield and social catalyst.
