Abstract:
New sugar-containing aryl ethynyl ligand [N-(4-trimethylsilylethynylphenyl)-?-D-glucopyranosylamine] 2 has been prepared by the reaction of [N-(4-iodophenyl)-?-D-glucopyranosylamine] 1 with trimethysilylacetylene in the presence of Pd(OAc)2/CuI catalyst, in iPr2NH and DMF solvent mixture. The trimethylsilyl group of compound 2 was deprotected using K2CO3 in methanol to form terminal ethynylene ligand [N-(?-D-glucopyranosyl)aniline-4-ethyne] 3. Novel platinum mono-ethynyl complex trans-[(P(Bu)3)2PtCl(C?C-4-C6H4-NH-D-glocose)] 4 and bis-ethynyl complex trans-[(P(Bu)3)2PtCl(C?C-4-C6H4-NH-D-glocose)2] 5 were formed by the dehydrohalogenation reaction of trans-[Pt(P(Bu)3)2Cl2] with terminal ethynyl ligand 3 in iPr2NH/THF, in the presence of CuI, at 65ºC. The complexes are hygroscopic in air, and are fairly soluble in methanol and CH2Cl2. The new compound 2 - 5 were characterized by FTIR and UV-Vis spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The compounds were tested for antibacterial activity using disk diffusion technique. Abstract:
Tujuan: Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh penurunan kadar gula darah sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan jalan kaki pada pasien diabetes mellitus. Metode: Jenis penelitian kuantitatif, metode quasi experiment, dengan pretest dan post test one group design. Populasi seluruh penderita diabetes mellitus sebanyak 49 orang. Variabel independen senam diabetes dan jalan kaki. Variabel dependen kadar gula darah. Alat pengumpulan data glukometer bernama Auto Check Blood Glocose Monitor. Analisa mengunakan uji paired t-test dengan nilai signifikan α= 0,05. Hasil: Menunjukkan bahwa adanya pengaruh yang signifikan dari kegiatan jalan kaki terhadap nilai kadar gula darah (p value = 0,000) yang artinya H0 ditolak atau ada pengaruh jalan kaki terjadap penurunan kadar gula darah pada pasien diabetes mellitus. Simpulan: Ada pengaruh jalan kaki terjadap penurunan kadar gula darah pada pasien diabetes millitus di Puskesmas Nibong Aceh Utara.

Abstract:
High blood pressure, diabetes mellitus (DM), uric acid, and cholesterol are disease that can kill patients. The purpose of ths study to support the government in health campaign efforts, especially in Yapase. This study was done by direct examination to participants and education them about health according to their examination result. Examination are blood pressure, glucose, uric acid, and cholesterol levels using GCU (Glocose / Cholesterol / Uric Acid)tTest. This study was held on Thursday 3 August 2017. The location was conducted in Yapase Hall. The number of participants were 32 people. The results show that 13 people (41%) had normal blood pressure, 10 people (31%) had prehypertension, and 9 people (28%) had hypertension. On blood glucose examination 6 people (19%) of the participants had low blood sugar and 26 people (81%) under normal circumstances. On the measurement of blood cholesterol, 2 people (6%) had hypercholesterolemia and 30 people (94%) had normal cholesterol levels under normal conditions. In the measurements of uric acid obtained 3 people (9%) had low uric acid levels, 11 people (34%) had normal uric acid levels and 18 people (56%) had high uric acid levels

Abstract:
Diabetes merupakan penyakit dimana terjadi peningkatan glukosa dalam darah. Peningkatan terjadi karena pankreas tidak dapat melepaskan insulin sehingga glukosa tidak masuk ke dalam otot. Reseptor insulin pada diabetes menghambat respon otot terhadap stimulasi insulin, namun otot tetap mampu merespon stimulasi kontraksi. Aktivitas tubuh pada penderita diabetes memiliki peranan yang penting dalam pengendalian kadar glukosa darah, yang mana saat melakukan aktivitas tubuh terjadi peningkatan ambilan glukosa (glucose uptake) oleh otot sehingga secara langsung dapat menyebabkan penurunan glukosa dalam aliran darah. Tipe aktivitas yang dapat dilakukan adalah aktivitas konsentrik dinamik berupa running uphill sebagai langkah untuk menurunkan kadar glukosa dalam aliran darah. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk membuktikan penggunaan model aktivitas running uphill terhadap peningkatan glucose uptake pada mencit diabetes. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan rancangan The Randomize Post Test Only Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok dengan randomisasi Hasil analisis uji beda delta glukosa darah (dGD) menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok DM dengan kelompok DM+Konsentrik (p< 0,05) dengan nilai t lebih besar dari 0 (t > 0). Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas running uphill lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan ambilan glukosa (glocose uptake) dari pada tanpa pemberian aktivitas running uphill pada mencit yang mengalami diabetes

Algorithms that minimize putative synapomorphy in an alignment cannot be directly implemented since trivial cases with concatenated sequences would be selected because they would imply a minimum number of events to be explained (e.g., a single insertion/deletion would be required to explain divergence among two sequences). Therefore, indirect measures to approach parsimony need to be implemented. In this paper, we thoroughly present a Global Criterion for Sequence Alignment (GLOCSA) that uses a scoring function to globally rate multiple alignments aiming to produce matrices that minimize the number of putative synapomorphies. We also present a Genetic Algorithm that uses GLOCSA as the objective function to produce sequence alignments refining alignments previously generated by additional existing alignment tools (we recommend MUSCLE). We show that in the example cases our GLOCSA-guided Genetic Algorithm (GGGA) does improve the GLOCSA values, resulting in alignments that imply less putative synapomorphies.

At low incident energies of nucleon-induced reaction cross sections exhibit a striking resonance structure which cannot properly be described by (semi-) microscopic models. Usually R-matrix theory is applied which provides a sufficiently accurate but phenomenological description of the resonance region. However, standard R-matrix theory is only suited for two-particle channels. Three- and many-particle channels which may occur at rather low incident energies and are usually treated in approximative or effective way. In this contribution an extension to unequal masses of the R-matrix formulation of Glockle based on the Faddeev equation is performed and proper expressions for numerical implementation are given.

Abstract:
Background: Diabetes is a serious disease that could greatly increase the risk of cardiovascular complications, whereas the underlying pathology of DN is still unknown. GPRC5B is a member of the RAIG subfamily of type 3 (family C) GPCR, and its role in DN is still unclear. Objective: To unveil the role of GPRC5B in diabetic nephropathy (DN) progression and investigate the potential signaling pathway. Materials and methods: Podocytes were stimulated with high glucose and expression of GPRC5B was analyzed by qPCR and western blot. Then the level of GPRC5B was depleted by siRNA transfection and inflammatory cytokine level was monitored by ELISA assay. The ECM depostion and the activation of NF-κB pathway were detected by Immunoblot. Results: We investigated the possible role of GPRC5B in the pathology of diabetic nephropathy. We found GPRC5B was highly expressed in high glocuse (HG) induced podocytes. The depletion of GPRC5B inhibited HG induced cell inflammation. In addition, the ablation of GPRC5B suppressed the HG induced ECM deposition. We further found GPRC5B could alleviate the inflammation and extracellular matrix deposition of HG-induced podocytes through NF-κB pathway. Conclusion: We therefore thought GPRC5B could serve as a promising target for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy. G-protein-coupled receptors.

<p>In his story ‘Den gamle Kirkeklokke’ [‘The Old Church Bell’], Andersen transforms, reinterprets, and dissolves Schiller’s popular poem ‘Das Lied von der Glocke’ [‘The Song of the Bell’] into prose. Written for the Schiller celebrations in 1859, it re-establishes the Romantic cult of the artist under profoundly changed cultural conditions. The article examines Andersen’s complex relationship with the Weimar culture and reveals the hidden autobiographical patters in his Schiller narrative. By adopting Schiller’s role for himself and at the same time linking it to the biography of Thorvaldsen, Andersen manages to bridge the only recently developed national gap between Danish and German culture. He simultaneously arranges the story as a critical commentary on his own Romantic tale ‘Klokken’ [‘The Bell’]. Thus, ‘my Schiller fairy tale’ turns out to be a post-Romantic legend that succeeds Wackenroder’s and Tieck’s outdated ‘religion of art’ in a decidedly ‘prasaic’ mode.</p>

Abstract:
This paper proposes a novel peer-to-peer communication framework to implement geographical location oriented networks, called G-LocON. Location-based services have been gaining in popularity, as proven by ridesharing and mobile games. Although these services have to construct geolocation oriented networks based on their users’ geographical locations, they completely rely on client/server models to communicate with neighboring terminals. G-LocON provides geolocation oriented device-to-device communication only with the current wireless technologies, such as LTE and Wi-Fi, cooperating with the global positioning system and peer-to-peer overlay networking. G-LocON will serve as a type of a mobile ad-hoc network in which devices located within the focusing area are capable of communicating directly. We developed a primitive Android application to implement the GLocON framework. Evaluation of the solution’s performance has verified the usefulness of the proposed system that offers an admissive transmission delay. Moreover, to confirm the application-related potential of the G-LocON framework, we also show a practical map software in which all neighboring mobile devices present in the focusing area are displayed.

Commercial charcoal production has over time become an indispensable means of livelihood among rural settlers in Nasarawa State. However, charcoal production involves woodland exploitation which contributes to deforestation. Considering the growing significance of charcoal in rural and urban livelihoods in Nasarawa State, this paper analysed the preference of tree species and reasons among commercial charcoal producers in Nasarawa State in view of identifying endangered species and suggesting measures to ensure sustainability of the business. The study employed descriptive survey using both qualitative and quantitative data drawn from primary and secondary sources. Questionnaire was administered to 450 respondents randomly sampled from commercial charcoal producers drawn from 6 communities and 3 LGAs of Nasarawa State. Interviews and Focus Group Discussions were also conducted and the data obtained were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics in Microsoft Excel and SPSS (version 23). A total of 22 tree species were identified as usable for charcoal production in the study area. Investigation into the producers’ preference of tree species showed that eight (8) were mostly preferred out of which Anogeissus leiocarpus (Marke) (57.3%), Erythrina senegalensis (Madri) (52.2%) and Prosopis Africana (Kirya) (49.1%) were among the top three. Marke, Kirya and Madri were the most preferred species in Akwanga, Doma and Karu production areas respectively. High charcoal yield, good combustion quality, high heat content of resulting charcoal, less ash production were the main reasons for their preferences. Most of the preferred tree species have been depleted to the point that they are no longer commonly found for use among commercial charcoal producers in the state. The most endangered species due to commercial charcoal production were Anogeissus leiocarpus (Marke), Erythrina senegalensis (Madri) and Prosopis Africana (Kirya). However, pressure is currently on Teminalia glocosece (Baushe/Uko), Andira inermis (Gwaska), Ficus Spp (Baure), Vitellaria paradoxa (Kede) and Gardinia aqualla (Gaude) due to the difficulties in finding the endangered ones which constituted the most preferred species among producers in Nasarawa State. It was recommended that state energy policies should incorporate a law recognizing charcoal as a key source of energy in the State, thereby encouraging investments in the activity of commercial charcoal producers. Furthermore, conservation plans and practical measures of replacing the extracted trees from woodlands/forests for commercial charcoal production should form the basis for license issuance for charcoal production.

Antioxidant vitamin A, C, and E helpful to reduce oxidative damage in people with diabetes mellitus and prevent complications.</em></p><p><em><strong> Objectives:</strong> The know relationship intake antioxidant with blood glocuse level outpatient type 2 diabetes mellitus in RSUD Panembahan Senopati Bantul Yogyakarta.</em></p><p><em><strong> Methods:</strong> This study was observasional with of cross sectional. The subjects in this study were outpatients with diabetes mellitus type 2 with sampels of 89 respondents. Purposive sampling technique. Data consumption pattern of antioxidant, used semi quantitative food frequency (SQFFQ) laboratories to examination and blood glucose levels. Data analysis used Fisher’s Exact Test. </em></p><p><em><strong>Results:</strong> There is significant association between vitamin C intake with blood sugar levels in patients diabetes mellitus the value of p = 0.004. The existence of a no signifi cant association between vitamin E intake with blood sugar levels in patients diabetes mellitus the value of p = 0.073 and there is no signifi cant association between vitamin A intake with blood sugar levels in patients diabetes mellitus the value of p = 0.252. </em></p><p><em><strong>Conclusion:</strong> There is a relationship between vitamin C intake with blood sugar levels, while the intake of vitamin A and E are not related to blood sugar levels</em></p><p><em><strong> KEYWORDS:</strong> type 2 diabetes mellitus, blood glucose level, vitamin C intake, vitamin A intake, vitamin E intake. </em></p><p><strong>ABSTRAK </strong></p><p><em><strong>Latar Belakang :</strong> Kadar glukosa yang tinggi pada penderita kencing manis/DM menyebabkan berbagai perubahan di dalam tubuh. Antioksidan vitamin A,C dan E bermanfaat dapat menurunkan kadar glukosa darah.</em></p><p><em><strong> Tujuan:</strong> Untuk mengetahui hubungan antara asupan antioksidan dengan kadar glukosa darah pada pasien rawat jalan DM tipe 2 di RSUD Panembahan Senopati Bantul Yogyakarta.</em></p><p><em><strong> Metode:</strong> Penelitian ini bersifat observasional dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah pasien rawat jalan diabetes melitus tipe 2 dengan jumlah sampel 89 responden. Teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu purposive sampling. Data asupan antioksidan menggunakan semi quantitative food frequency (SQFFQ) dan hasil pemeriksaan laboratorium untuk kadar glukosa darah. In August 2011, sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas), tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), and eggplant (S. melongena) crops from major growing areas of the Cameron highlands and Johor state in Malaysia were affected by a soft rot disease. Disease incidence exceeded 80, 75, and 65% in severely infected fields and greenhouses of sweet potato, tomato, and eggplant, respectively. The disease was characterized by dark and small water-soaked lesions or soft rot symptoms on sweet potato tubers, tomato stems, and eggplant fruits. In addition, extensive discoloration of vascular tissues, stem hollowness, and water-soaked, soft, dark green lesions that turned brown with age were observed on the stem of tomato and eggplant. A survey was performed in these growing areas and 22 isolates of the pathogen were obtained from sweet potato (12 isolates), tomato (6 isolates), and eggplant (4 isolates) on nutrient agar (NA) and eosin methylene blue (EMB) (4). The cultures were incubated at 27°C for 2 days and colonies that were emerald green on EMB or white to gray on NA were selected for further studies. All bacterial cultures isolated from the survey exhibited pectolytic ability on potato slices. These bacterial isolates were gram negative; rod shaped; N-acetylglucosaminyl transferase, gelatin liquefaction, and OPNG positive; and were also positive for acid production from D-galactose, lactosemelibiose, raffinose, citrate, and trehalose. They were negative for indol production, phosphatase activity, reducing substances from sucrose, and negative for acid production from maltose, sorbitol, inositol, inolin, melezitose, α-mathyl-D-glocoside, and D-arabitol. The bacteria did not grow on NA at 37°C. Based on these biochemical and morphological assays, the pathogen was identified as Pectobacterium wasabiae (2). In addition, DNA was extracted and PCR assay with two primers (16SF1 and 16SR1) was performed (4). Partial sequences of 16S rRNA (GenBank Accession Nos. JQ665714, JX494234, and JX513960) of sweet potato, tomato, and eggplant, respectively, exhibited a 99% identity with P. wasabiae strain SR91 (NR_026047 and NR_026047.1). A pathogenicity assay was carried out on sweet potato tubers (cv. Oren), tomato stems (cv. 152177-A), and eggplant fruits (cv. 125066x) with 4 randomly representative isolates obtained from each crop. Sweet potato tubers, tomato stems, and eggplant fruits (4 replications) were sanitized in 70% ethyl alcohol for 30 s, washed and rinsed in sterile distilled water, and needle punctured with a bacterial suspension at a concentration of 108 CFU/ml. Inoculated tubers, stems, and fruits were incubated in a moist chamber at 90 to 100% RH for 72 h at 25°C when lesions were measured. All inoculated tubers, stems, and fruits exhibited soft rot symptoms after 72 h similar to those observed in the fields and greenhouses and the same bacteria were consistently reisolated. Symptoms were not observed on controls. The pathogenicty test was repeated with similar results. P. wasabiae have been previously reported to cause soft rot on Japanese horseradish (3), and aerial stem rot on potato in New Zealand (4), the U.S. (2), and Iran (1). Abstract Background N6-Methyladenosine (m6A) modification has been implicated in many bioprocesses. However, its functions in diabetic nephropathy (DN) have not been determined. Here, we investigated the role of METTL14, a key component of the m6A methyltransferase complex, in DN. Methods The expression of METTL14 was detected in DN patients and human renal glomerular endothelial cells (HRGECs). In vitro and in vivo experiments were performed to explore the functions of METTL14 on high glocse-induced HRGECs and renal injury of DN mice. We also investigated whether METTL14 works by regulating α-klotho expression through m6A modification. Results METTL14 were highly expressed in kidneys of DN patients and high glocse-induced HRGECs both at the mRNA and protein level. Overexpression of METTL14 increased ROS, TNF-α and IL-6 levels and apoptosis in HRGECs. Conversely, METTL14 silence decreased the levels of ROS, TNF-α and IL-6 and cell apoptosis. We confirmed that METTL14 down-regulated α-klotho expression in an m6A-dependent manner. In addition, we also found that METTL14 aggravated renal injury and inflammation of db/db mice, which could partially rescued by α-klotho. Conclusion Our data revealed that METTL14 plays a vital role in high glucose-induced glomerular endothelial cells and diabetic nephropathy through m6A modification of α-klotho.

Mục tiêu: Đánh giá biến chứng của phương pháp cắt mống mắt chu biên bằng Nd: YAG laser dự phòng glocom góc đóng nguyên phát. Đối tượng và phương pháp: 124 mắt glocom tiềm tàng trên bệnh nhân glocom góc đóng cơn cấp nguyên phát được đưa vào nghiên cứu từ Bệnh viện Mắt Trung ương, Bệnh viện Mắt Hà Đông và Khoa Mắt, Bệnh viện Quân y 103 trong thời gian từ 01/2018 đến 11/2019. Nghiên cứu can thiệp theo dõi dọc theo thời gian, tất cả các bệnh nhân được điều trị cắt MMCB bằng laser dự phòng, thời gian theo dõi ít nhất 1 năm. Kết quả: Tất cả các mắt điều trị dự phòng đều đạt hiệu quả nhãn áp tốt sau 1 năm theo dõi. XHTP xảy ra trên 22 mắt (17,7%) chủ yếu độ 1 (18/22 mắt) hay gặp hơn khi tiến hành laser ở vị trí xa chu biên (77,3%). Bỏng giác mạc chu biên xảy ra trên 14 mắt (11,2%), trong đó 10 mắt 1 nốt bắn, 4 mắt 2 nốt bắn, xuất hiện nhiều hơn trong nhóm tiền phòng nông (<2,5mm) (85,7%) và được laser ở vị trí sát với chân mống mắt (92,8%). Nhãn áp được đo sau thủ thuật 24 giờ, trung bình 20,07±3, 56 (16-24 mmHg), tăng trung bình 4,68 ±2,41 (3-7 mmHg), tăng nhiều hơn trên nhóm mắt có mống mắt dày (72,7%) Viêm màng bồ đào (VMBĐ) trước xảy ra 24/124 mắt (19,35%), ở mức độ nhẹ Tyndall (+), cải thiện hoàn toàn sau 3,47±1,36 (3-5 ngày), xuất hiện nhiều hơn trên mắt dày sắc tố mống mắt (75%). Dính bít lỗ cắt mống mắt chu biên xảy ra trên 17/124 mắt (13,7%), nhiều hơn trên nhóm mắt có sắc tố mống mắt dày (76,5%) và lỗ cắt mống mắt nhỏ chưa đảm bảo >150µm (100%). Kết luận: Phương pháp cắt mống mắt chu biên bằng Nd: YAG laser khá an toàn, mặc dù có một tỷ lệ tai biến, biến chứng nhất định nhưng ở mức độ nhẹ, có thể can thiệp dễ dàng không ảnh hưởng đến kết quả cuối cùng.
