Il punto di partenza dal quale la ricerca si è mossa è stato quello di ricostruire il dibattimento tra Arte e Critica d’Arte nell’Italia del secondo Novecento. Nell’ambito di una impostazione più strettamente storica, il progetto di analisi maturato durante i tre anni di ricerca, ha posto le basi necessarie ad analizzare e rileggere alcune stagioni dell’arte e della critica, nonché le metodologie, con le quali (e attraverso le quali) Dorfles – soggetto e oggetto della tesi – ha formulato, nel secondo Novecento, il proprio discorso sull’arte e il proprio pensiero legato, via via, a prefissi estetici (a linguaggi visivi e a metodi) diversi e diversificati. Dopo l'analisi di un dibattito dedicato alle complesse vicende artistiche dell’immediato dopoguerra – complesse per le polemiche tra realisti e astrattisti e per le problematiche sociali e politiche che si inseriscono nel dibattito artistico italiano postbellico – la ricerca si è spostata in un ambiente in cui l’Autore, da pittore impegnato a svolgere un ruolo attivo nel dibattito artistico, si fa pittore clandestino per continuare, nei territori della teoria e della critica d’arte, la sua linea di pensiero. Un atteggiamento tipicamente dorflesiano che pare configurarsi come una sorta di poetica del divenire presente già nel 1951 (anno in cui l’Autore dà alle stampe il suo primo lavoro); quello di concepire, cioè, “opere aperte” in grado di fornire all’Autore un’ampia area d’azione critica e teorica che, lavorando sul concetto di divenire (di metamorfosi) e di transitorietà nel tempo delle arti, delle scelte e delle tecniche impiegate soprattutto (Dorfles è un autore che vede nella tecnica l’origine di ogni discorso artistico), rinnova, sulla linea hegeliana, continuamente il proprio spazio creativo. Ed è questo suo analizzare la contemporaneità, questo suo essere amante di «un pulsante presente» – critico dell’istante e teorico dei nuovi scenari artistici – a formulare, appunto, un racconto “aperto” in cui, di volta in volta, e di mutazione in mutazione, si aggiungono nuovi spazi d’azione critica e teorica in continuo divenire. Lo dimostrano, ad esempio, le Ultime tendenze nell’arte d’oggi – definito, tra l’altro, il bestseller dell’arte contemporanea –, in cui l’Autore ha deciso di riunire «prima che sia troppo tardi (e, oggi, il “troppo tardi” viene di solito anche “troppo presto”)», ha avvisato, puntualizzando la propria linea metodologica, «certe mie esperienze critiche attorno a quelle forme artistiche da me considerate come più autentiche e rappresentative, così come esse si vengono svolgendo e ramificando sotto i nostri occhi». In Dorfles, così, proprio con concetti quali oscillazione e divenire, obsolescenza e metamorfosi, si compie una roccaforte sovrastorica in cui l’autore, liberandosi di stilemi fissi, fissa in un sistema di lettura variabile, il proprio percorso teorico e critico. Dal Discorso tecnico delle arti (del 1952) al suo ripiegamento ne Il Divenire delle arti (nel 1959) e ne Il divenire della critica (1976) – spazio nel quale va inserito anche l’importantissimo Le oscillazioni del gusto (1959) – per giungere, poi, alle Ultime tendenze nell’arte d’oggi (del 1961) che, a sua volta, si arricchisce e si amplia nel 1981 attraverso un monitoraggio e un lavoro sul campo in Ultime tendenze nell’arte d’oggi. Dall’Informale al Concettuale; e che, per non smentire il work in progress di costruzione critica (una costruzione attenta, naturalmente, ai processi di trasformazione e rinnovamento artistico), diventa, nel 1993, Ultime tendenze nell’arte d’oggi. Dall’Informale al Neo-Oggettuale, il lavoro teorico ed estetologico di Dorfles si affina e si trasforma in una ricognizione più strettamente legata alla critica d’arte ma pur sempre connessa ad alcuni principi tecnici, propri di quel Discorso tecnico del ’52, e ad un’apertura teorica che vede appunto nel panorama evoluzionistico, la base (una delle basi) del discorso dorflesiano. Su questa stessa linea riflessiva sono stati letti, inoltre altri percorsi e discorsi affrontati dall’autore; dalle analisi dedicate all’architettura [che, partendo dal 1951 con Barocco nell’architettura moderna, via L’architettura moderna (1954), arriva fino alle Architetture ambigue dal Neobarocco al Postmoderno del 1984] a quelle indirizzate alla moda e al design, alle nuove tecnologie e alla medialità in generale [Simbolo, comunicazione e consumo (1962), Nuovi riti, nuovi miti (1965), Artificio e natura (1968)]. Un ulteriore punto di snodo, ha, inoltre, orientato le fasi della ricerca dentro uno scenario più prettamente metodologico. È stato notato, in Dorfles, attraverso varie letture – interviste, comunicazioni, lacerti critici e colloqui telefonici con l’Autore – un comportamento metodologico di tipo pluridisciplinare ed inclusivo. Che pare inserirsi, grazie a quel suo rapportarsi variabilmente rispetto ai nuovi oggetti di studio (l’Autore avvisa più volte nei suoi scritti che «l’arte non deve tradire il proprio mezzo espressivo» e che la critica deve guardare la nuova opera in base alle novità tecniche del periodi in cui essa viene prodotta), in dinamiche più strettamente legate al rapporto contaminazionale, o meglio ad un metodo multivoco, appunto, che contraddistingue, forse (è studio e analisi in preparazione naturalmente) il percorso critico dorflesiano. Infine si è pensato di dislocare la ricerca entro ampi spazi di analisi e di impegno critico, per ritesse (ed evidenziare al meglio) il pensiero e le scelte dell’Autore in relazione con altri personaggi della critica e della teoria. Così, se in un primo momento (chiuso tra il 1948 e il 1958) la ricerca ha attraversato la fase costitutiva e organizzativa del Movimento per l'Arte Concreta nel vasto panorama internazionale; il periodo successivo della ricerca ha attraversato alcuni luoghi che dal '58, giungono alle frontiere della postmodernità. Un terzo periodo del lavoro, ha concentrato l’attenzione dalla fine dei grandi racconti e dunque dal dibattito sulla postmodernità, ad un ritorno alla pittura che significa non solo un ritorno, per Dorfles, alla pratica pittorica, ma anche, su scala internazionale, un ritorno al pittorico e alla cornice del linguaggio. I territori esauriti del concettuale, il minimalismo – l’antiform e le strutture primarie –, l’esperienza del Graffitismo, il ritorno del decorativo e i territori del magico, le declinazioni del postmoderno e i lineamenti del multiculturalismo, la fine dell’avanguardia e le spinte teoriche verso la post-avanguardia («il dibattito Moderno/Postmoderno»). E poi, ancora, il ritorno alla pittura, anzi, al pittorico – i Nuovi nuovi, la transavanguardia, in particolare, e le sue diramazioni internazionali –, ma anche l’esperienza della pittura analitica e dell’Astrazione povera, il manierismo e il neobarocco, il digitale e le sue varie coniugazioni attraversate dagli artisti Neo-geo (Neo Geometric Conceptualism) e dalla galleria International With Monument, la Commody-art e la Grande Decorazione, i nuovi metodi adottati dalla critica e i dibattiti sulle inadeguatezze metodologiche. L’arte, ancora, vista da una angolazione più ampia, come comunicazione, messaggio (o massaggio ha suggerito, tempestivamente, McLuhan) e come costruzione e decostruzione di linguaggio appunto. Attorno a questi fili di non facile lettura – di ampio raggio d’azione e in contraddizione tra loro, a volte – si dispiega un nuovo scenario critico- metodologico dentro il quale Dorfles propone nuove letture multidisciplinari e multiculturali (d’impostazione estetologica, socio-antropologica ma anche, via via, strutturalista, sociologica e linguistica – prendendo, tuttavia, misure di sicurezza «da improvvisi “furori disciplinari” o da mode e tendenze che desiderano imporsi, senza misurarsi sulle “cose”») tese a rivendicare, di volta in volta, l’importanza d’un processo cosciente – e coscienzioso – in grado di indicare, per l’arte e per la critica, strade alternative di comprensione e di azione. Nella parte conclusiva del lavoro è stato sviluppato, infine, il pensiero di Dorfles all’interno di alcuni eventi, che, tra la fine degli anni Ottanta del Novecento e il primo decennio del ventunesimo secolo hanno caratterizzato e caratterizzano, grossomodo, la nuova scena dell’arte, della critica d’arte e dell’estetica. Di un sistema dell’arte, infine, sfrangiato dalla megalopoli e dai flussi relazionali, dalle correnti dominanti dell’economia e dalla flessibility del lavoro, dalla commercializzazione globale e dai – sempre più massicci – flussi di un paesaggio virtuale e ibrido, carico di differenze e, nel contempo, paradossalmente omologante. Abstract:
The object of this thesis is to study the attempts made by writers and filmmakers in two very different socio-cultural contexts to depict and elucidate the experience of political violence, particularly torture, in the periods 1954-1962 and 1976-1983. I seek to apply the hypotheses of Anglo-American and French theorists with an interest in historical representation, as well as trauma, to both 'realist' and experimental accounts of the widespread oppression that occurred during the Algerian war of independence and later during the so-called 'Dirty War' in Argentina. The texts analysed in detail include novels and short stories by Kateb Yacine, Assia Djebar, Julio Cortázar and Luisa Valenzuela; the films I examine most closely are the Algerian-Italian 'docudrama' La Bataille d'Alger and the Argentine melodrama La historia oficial. However, the thesis also addresses other non-factual portrayals of brutality, such as the Nouvelle Vague's meditations on decolonization, and autobiographical writings, such as military memoirs and survivors' testimony, as a means of elaborating more fully on the issues at stake in the works cited above. It explores the difficulty - and the possibility - of giving voice to histories that simultaneously resist and demand articulation, and ultimately, of reconstituting the fragmented or 'disappeared' subject through narrative: of using fiction to summon the 'ghosts' of the past.

Filipstads Gille är en historisk förening som värnar om Filipstads historia. Gillet har genom sin samling och dokumentation, arbetat för att presentera stadens historia. Vilket bland annat sker via den egna tidskriften Vår Stad som ges ut årligen. Gillet är en av många enskilda arkivbildare i Sverige som inte inkluderas i arkivlagen, som bland annat skrevs för att skydda och bevara handlingar av kulturell eller historisk betydelse för landet. Trots detta finns ett glapp som gynnar den offentliga, gentemot den privata sektorns arkiv, och ett viktigt perspektiv i historieskrivningen riskerar att förloras innan man insett dess betydelse. Filipstads Gille är en ideell och allmännyttig förening vilken faller under den privata sektorn istället för den offentliga (statliga och kommunala). Enligt arkivlagen är den privata sektorn reglerad, men har inte samma skydd som den offentliga när det gäller arkivverksamheten. Därmed kommer frågeställningen; vilka skillnader som finns i lagen, vad innebär dessa skillnader för offentliga respektive enskilda arkiv, och hur hanterar Filipstads Gille sin arkivgenererande verksamhet och handlingar? Syftet med denna uppsats är att studera Filipstads Gille för att se hur deras verksamhet förhåller sig till lagstiftningen, med fokus på arkivverksamheten.

Abstract:
The lucinid bivalve Codakia orbiculata, whose gills contain sulphur-oxidizing symbiotic bacteria, occurs in high densities (500/m2) in the rhizosphere of shallow-water Thalassia testudinum sediments in Bermuda. Both sulphide and thiosulphate stimulate aerobic respiration in the isolated bacterial symbionts of C. orbiculata. Sulphide and thiosulphate stimulate anaerobic ^^COa fixation in bacteria isolated from sulphur-starved bivalves. Interstitial water sulphide concentrations in the bivalves' habitat reach 300 pM, and sulphate-reduction rates are high, but thiosulphate concentrations are low (0.66-32.27 pM) . Thiosulphate supplied to the symbionts in vivo must be produced by sulphide oxidation, possibly by the host bivalve. Isolated symbionts also respire aerobically and fix i * C02 in the absence of exogenous reduced sulphur, suggesting utilization of intracellular elemental sulphur stores. Codakia orbiculata symbiotic bacteria are able to respire nitrate. Nitrate concentrations in the interstitial water of C. orbiculata habitat can reach 36 pM. Thiosulphate stimulates nitrate respiration in the intact symbiosis, incubated in oxic and anoxic conditions, and in anoxic incubations of isolated symbionts. Intracellular elemental sulphur is also used by the •bacteria as a substrate in nitrate respiration. Nitrate respiration in the absence of exogenous nitrate suggests that the sjnnbionts may have a limited ability to store nitrate. There is no direct evidence that sulphide stimulates nitrate respiration in either the isolated symbionts or the intact symbiosis, incubated in anoxic conditions. Nitrite respiration in the symbionts is stimulated by sulphide (only), however. Because nitrate respiration was measured by nitrite accumulation, complete denitrification would explain the apparent failure of sulphide to stimulate nitrate respiration. High nitrate respiration rates in the intact symbiosis, incubated with sulphide in oxic conditions, may be in response to thiosulphate, supplied to the bacterial symbionts after host oxidation of sulphide. Nitrite respiration in the intact symbiosis, even when incubated in oxic conditions, demonstrates that the symbionts have access to some sulphide in vivo, however, and that host sulphide-oxidation may not be- 100% efficient. Nitrate and nitrite respiration in the intact symbiosis, even when incubated in oxic conditions, suggests that the bacteria may be exposed to low oxygen levels in vivo and may require the ability to utilize an alternate electron acceptor. Like some free - living bacteria , Codakia orbiculata bacterial symbionts may co-respire, or alternately respire , oxygen and nitrate . The Thalassia testudinum sediments in Bermuda may be ideal for this bacteria-bivalve symbiosis due to the availability of oxygen, nitrate and sulphide.

Abstract:

This study is a conscious attempt at opening up the discussion on the Italian giallo film of the 1960’s & 1970’s. Part of its mission is examine views and writings currently available on the giallo and using these to analyse the body of films known as the giallo. It is also an attempt at the generic definition seeing the giallo as a series of thriller films according to Tzvetan Todorov’s model and in depth discussing the influence of the horror story and the whodunit. Beyond that it is a close look upon the form and devices of giallo narration, with focus upon the role of the eyewitness, focalization and point of view as first person narration. The study also traces the giallo’s influences interdisciplinary including placing it in the cultural context of the Italian adult comics known as fumetti neri. The study also includes a close look upon the idea of the eroticised violent set piece tracing it to the French theatre of horror – the Grand Guignol. Furthermore the study addresses the concept of seriality as understood in reference to the giallo. Finally the study examines the role of the giallo hero and suggests that the giallo is posing existential questions, and can be understood as existential suspense thrillers. The findings are exemplified through a wide scope of films including brief references and longer analytic examples elaborating on topical discussions in this developing field of study.

Cette thèse, La question identitaire dans le ‘giallo’ sarde contemporain. Essai interprétatif, porte sur vingt-quatre romans policiers, parus en Sardaigne entre 1988 et 2006. Ils traitent, ou permettent de traiter, de questions sociales et, plus généralement, de la question identitaire sarde. Elle est composée de trois parties principales (formées de sept chapitres) permettant d’étudier la typologie du ‘giallo’ sarde, le contexte historico-littéraire sarde contemporain, les éléments constitutifs du ‘giallo’ autochtone (l’enquêteur, le lieu, le rapport au crime) et, plus spécifiquement, la problématique identitaire. L’approche sociologique a été choisie comme paraissant la plus appropriée pour analyser la spécificité identitaire de l’île. Dans cette optique, les romans sont étudiés sur la base de leur caractère essentiel, à savoir le ‘réel’, car il permet de mieux saisir les implications de la société sarde considérée dans son évolution historique, sociale et anthropologique
This thesis, The Identity Question in the Contemporary Sardinian ‘Giallo’. Interpretative Essay, deals with twenty four thrillers published in Sardinia between 1988-2006. They are about or related to social questions and, moreover, to the question of Sardinian identity. This work focuses on three main themes (in seven chapters). Allowing for the study of tipology Sardinian ‘giallo’, the historical and litterary context of contemporary Sardinia, the elements wich constitute the ‘giallo’ itself (the investigator, the place, the circonstances of the crime) and more specifically, the identity issue. The sociological approach was chosen as it seemed the most appropriate way to analyse the island’s specific identity. The novels are studied on their essential level, as it is their realism wich allow them to seize the implications of Sardinian society, in its historical, sociological, and antropological evolution

Abstract:
Disease is a major impediment to world aquaculture, amplified by the increase of the intensity of aquaculture relieving pressure from over depleted wild stocks, but with intensity brings disease and particularly disease of the fragile gill organ, exposed directly to the water environment. There is little literature on barramundi biology and the various forms of culture impacting on health, particularly the gill and much research is required in gaining a further understanding of this popular eating fish. The light microscope is a pivotal tool with cytology and histology mandatory in assessing gill health. The gill biopsy should be considered part of a clinical examination as the water medium surrounding the gill and on the gill contains often fragile organisms that would otherwise be lost in fixation for histology alone, but easily viewed with cytology. Barramundi are easily anaesthetised and recovered like many terrestrials and gill re-growth is rapid, healing within days. Biopsies should be viewed unstained with and without phase contrast and then stained and reviewed, recognizing some ectoparasites maybe lost with anaesthetic agents and stains. The sacrificing of the fish after a live gill biopsy is necessary with histology and microbiology our major tools for diagnostics, with no other non invasive methods readily available as for terrestrials. Every year many new water organisms related to aquaculture are described in the literature and the finding of novel and new organisms makes the veterinary examination of the live fish exciting yet imperative. A major concern is the gill pathogens found in wild barramundi were similar to those found in culture. For example the prevalence of the parasite Henneguya a Myxosporidean was 90% in sea cages 60 km offshore from Darwin in the Bathurst Island river system and 66% for ponded fish with water drawn from the Darwin Elizabeth river, compared to 33% infected in the wild habitat of the Mary river system close to Darwin by road. However the bacterial disease Epitheliocystis had a prevalence of 66% in the sea cages and 18% of similarly sized fish in the Mary river system, yet nil found in the pond farm, but in this case sample numbers were restricted. Consequently the surveillance for new fish pathogens and monitoring for existing pathogens in the wild ecosystems and aquaculture facilities is necessary and must include the macro and micro flora and fauna surrounding such facilities as they are potentially affected from aquaculture waste streams. The sustainability of aquaculture in open water culture must be considered with great concern for many reasons, but disease by its nature could overwhelm a species and other aquatic life quickly disseminated in a dynamic water medium. Freshwater culture of barramundi has problems with off flavour and disease, particularly recirculating aquaculture systems due to undercapitalization and possibly at this stage with existing type farms not suited for the culture of barramundi with one farm having all fish sampled diagnosed with systemic bacteraemia and gill Epitheliocystis. Commonly fish sampled from freshwater culture had suffered pathological changes to the gill, particularly hyperplasia indicating the fish are continually affected by issues of water quality and disease. Pond culture appeared to control gill disease issues by affording lower stocking rates, high water exchanges from a river within metres, fallow and the flavour of the fish similar to wild catch or sea cage culture, when purged in brackish water. The decreased environmental and ecosystem risks, coupled with the pond farmer reporting good profits with a simple form of culture, also suitable for intensification is a success story for barramundi production for today and the future.

Abstract:
The focus of this thesis is to examine posts on library’s Facebook pages and to investigate possible connections between posts and user response. The study examines posts published from thirty different libraries Facebook pages over a two week period to examine if any correlation between different subjects or types of posts affects the degree and type of response from the users.The findings show that photos stand for the majority of the published post concerning its type and that activities at the library was the most common subject of posts. After using eta as measure of association a tenuous connection between degree of response and the posts subject and between the degree of response and the type of post was found. The standard deviation, however, was high in the majority of the variables used. The data also showed that posts containing videos had a very high mean of user response as did the subject culture news, although either of them constituted a sufficiently large part of the examined material in order to prove a connection. Previous research also supports the connection between posting of multimedia like videos and the engagement from the users.

Denna studie handlar om på vilka sätt som sociala medier kan ge uttryck för bekräftelsebehov hos användare. Genom kvalitativa intervjuer på fem användare av sociala medier samt användning av teorier inom självrepresentation, behaviorism och Uses and Gratification, blev det möjligt att finna flera typer av bekräftelsebehov. Det gick dels att urskilja tre strategier inom självrepresentation som användes för att uppnå bekräftelsebehov; en strategi till direkt uppmärksamhet, en strategi till specifik målgrupp och en strategi för generellt bekräftelsebehov. Vidare gavs också information på hur användare uppfattar och använder sig av sociala mediers mediala mekanismer, till att nå bekräftelsebehov. Slutligen blev det också möjligt att uppfatta användares känslor efter detta behov.
This study is about social media and in what ways it can give expression for a need ofconfirmation, by the individuals who are using it. By using qualitative interviews on five users of social media, combined with exploiting theories in self-representation, behaviourism and Uses and Gratifications, it was possible to discover several kinds of need for confirmation. Thus, three strategies in self-representation was being used: a strategy mainly for attention, a strategy to reach a specific target group, and a strategy for general need of confirmation. Furthermore, information on how the users are aware of the mechanisms from social media is being showed and also how they make the most out of it. Eventually, after their need for confirmation had been examined, the users’ feelings were presented.

Sociala medier som externa kommunikationsverktyg har sedan länge stått på organisationers agenda. Idag står många organisationer i startgroparna för att introducera sociala medier även i den interna kommunikationen. Sociala intranät, traditionella intranät som utrustats med sociala funktioner som exempelvis chatt, blogg och personliga profiler, återfinns i allt större utsträckning inom organisationer. I nuläget finns emellertid mycket lite forskning kring detta fenomen. Syftet med vår studie är att öka förståelsen för vilka positiva och negativa effekter sociala intranät skapar för medarbetare i deras dagliga arbete. 13 medarbetare på IT- tjänstföretaget Tieto intervjuades för denna studie som visar att medarbetare upplever både positiva och negativa konsekvenser med sociala funktioner. Studien finner klara stöd för att sociala teknologier främjar sociala relationer, samarbete och kommunikation. Studien indikerar att en bristande kollektiv användning och uppkomsten av ett informationsöverflöde är de främsta problemen med sociala teknologier i den interna kommunikationen. Dessa två faktorer motverkar införlivandet av potentiella fördelar, som exempelvis effektiviserad informations- och kunskapsdelning, och skapar negativa effekter för beslutsfattandet då beslut fattas på sämre underlag och då ett obalanserat inflytande mellan aktiva och passiva användare uppstår.

Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att belysa den förbisedda subgenren giallo genom att undersöka om genren har influerat den mer framgångsrika och erkända subgenren slasher. Och om det är fallet undersöka hur omfattande arvet ifrån giallogenren till slashergenren är. För att besvara detta har följande frågor använts som utgångspunkt för analysen och diskussionen: Vilka likheter och skillnader finns mellan subgenrerna giallo och slasher? och Vad återfinns från giallon till slashern och hur omfattande är inflytandet? Med hjälp av tidigare forskning kring skräckgenrens historiska utveckling, influenser, subgenrer och genrekonventioner har generna kartlagts och analyserats. Genom en komparativ analysmetod av två stycken filmer ifrån respektive subgenre påträffade undersökningen väsentliga likheter i innehållet som påvisar att giallogenren har inspirerat och influerat slashergenren avsevärt.

This dissertation consists of a critical component, "Searching for Gills: Fieldwork Meditations" and Scorper, a novel. Each essay in the critical study is devoted to a particular aspect of my novel - literary antecedents that inform style and content, real events that prefigure plots and subplots, personal struggles which darkly and sometimes comically affect tone, places that ground settings; and the individuals, ghosts, and uncanny animals who surface as characters. Part transatlantic literary memoir, part critical discussion, this collection provides a background to the philosophical and psychological roots of my writing, encapsulates my evolving vision of fiction, and contextualizes Scorper. I begin by describing the backdrop behind The Gravedigger. I connect this novel's Sussex setting, its themes of graves and mortality, and its link to graduate writing workshops - all of which prefigure Scorper. Next, I examine the influence of Austrian author Thomas Bernhard, in particular his method of comedic writing that creates unease. After this essay I guide the reader on a literary survey of the animals and animal characters which inform my sense of the uncanny - a construct underpinning my own animal depictions. In "Searching for Gills" I take a walk from Corsham to Bradford-on-Avon on a hunt for a living descendant of the artist Eric Gill, whose ghost forms a central role in my book; and in my final essay I explore the sometimes uncomfortable connections between my drinking and my writing. Scorper is a dark comedy about an American copy editor on holiday in Ditchling, East Sussex. The mentally unstable protagonist is on an existential search for meaning, but his psychological health is exacerbated by Ditchling and the cabal of brother/sister alliances within the town. Written in second person narrative voice, the chief themes of the novel are alienation, mental fragility, and transatlantic miscommunication. While the issues examined in my book can be sobering, Scorper is intended as a satirical piece of entertainment.

Abstract:
This thesis presents an examination of the giallo films of Dario Argento from his directorial debut The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (1970) to The Stendhal Syndrome' (1996). In opposition to the dominant psychoanalytical approaches to the horror film generally and Argento's giallo specifically, this thesis argues that the giallo, both textually and meta-textually, actively resists oedipalisation. Taking up from Deleuze's contention in Cinema 1: The Movement Image that the cinematic-image can be consider the equivalent to a philosophical concept, I suggest that Argento's giallo are examples of what Deleuze calls cinema of the "time-image": provoked and extended "philosophical" acts of imagining the world which opens up a theoretical space of thinking differently about questions of gender and genre in horror film, which takes us beyond the fixed images of thought offered by traditional psychoanalytical and feminist paradigms of horror. In the opening chapters of this thesis, I argue that the cinematic-image has to be thought "historically", and that it is only be understanding the emergence of the "giallo" in the 1960s within the wider picture of Italian national cinema, that we can understand Argento's films as specific cultural expressions of thought, which are not reducible to paradigms based upon analyses of the more puritan and fixed American horror film (via Mulvey et all). In my subsequent discussion of Argento's "Diva" trilogy, I consider an assemblage of Deleuzian becoming and poststructuralist feminist thought (Kristeva I Cixous I Irigaray) as a mechanism through which to explore the increasingly feminised and feminist spaces of his later work. This thesis concludes by assessing Argento's critical and creative legacy in films such as Toshiharu Ikeda's Evil Dead Trap (1988) and Cindy Sherman's Office Killer (1997). In these terms, a Deleuzian "approach", enables a set of readings, which open up the texts to a more productive consideration of their appeal, in a way which other more traditional approaches do not, and cannot, account for. The close textual and historical analysis demanded by Deleuze is both a reconsideration of the [feminist] politics of Argento's work, and a response to criticisms of misogynism.

La coesistenza di pratiche linguistico-culturali diverse tra loro ci interrogano sul modo in cui ci si relaziona con l’altro. Sul piano educativo, quindi, si è manifestata la necessità non solo di saper cogliere e capire la diversità, ma anche di sapersi relazionare con essa. Un approccio di tipo interculturale si configura come strumento necessario per affrontare le sfide della società odierna. Partendo da questo presupposto, questo lavoro si presenta come una proposta interculturale di educazione linguistica e letteraria attraverso l’uso del romanzo giallo. Aquatic hypoxia, or low dissolved oxygen, is a growing environmental concern and has detrimental effects on many fishes. Research on fish responses to hypoxia includes whole animal studies as well as organ culture systems. In this thesis, the gulf killifish, Fundulus grandis, was used to determine the interaction between hypoxic exposure and four common euthanasia techniques on selected blood and gill variables and to develop an in vitro gill incubation system. Euthanasia techniques had differential effects on blood and gill, with the common fish anesthetic MS-222 having the greatest effects, but none altered the response to hypoxia. During the development of gill culture, the highest gill viability was measured in isosmotic seawater medium and shorter incubation times. This study provides insight into the applicability of different euthanasia techniques in hypoxia research, as well as preliminary observations on an incubation system for isolated gills.

The local council of Eskilstuna has a lot of fans on their Facebook page, but not so many people that ask questions, likes, comments or share their posts. This is a bachelor-thesis on how to inspire dialogue and encourage the fans to be a part of Eskilstunas Facebook page. I have made guidelines for the council how to use Facebook as a way to reach out to those who live in Eskilstuna, based on results from literature studies, analysis of several other Facebook pages and interviews. I've also made examples of statuses for the Facebook page for one week, in May 2012. The result shows that the fans want's to read about their local environment. It is important to have a personal appeal. Post should be no longer than 400 character, if they are, the posts will be truncated, and hidden. When the fans ask questions, they're expecting a quick answer. If the administrator of the Facebook pages can't answer the question they should forward it to someone who can. All posts from fans should be played attention, even the negative ones.

This thesis examines representations of gender in the Italian giallo, a short-lived but tremendously popular, lucrative and prolific body of films in the murder-mystery thriller tradition that enjoyed their heyday in the early-to-mid 1970s. Traditionally, both academic and populist responses to these films have focused on the output of a small number of maverick directors that have been elevated critically above their peers. Conversely, this thesis aligns itself with a more recent trend towards eschewing auteurist readings in favour of examining the giallo as a broad ‘filone’ (cycle) defined by shared iconography, narrative conventions and underlying anxieties. Building on the typological approach of this body of literature, I place the gialli within the historical context of their initial production and release, relating the anxieties they exhibit in their depiction of gender and sexuality to the seismic sociocultural changes that occurred during this period. Drawing on the methodologies employed in criticism of the American film noir movement of the 1940s and 1950s, I explore the gialli not as straightforward allegories of real world events but rather as discursive texts that engage in a refracted form with contemporary sociocultural concerns. As its central hypothesis, this thesis asserts the giallo uses the generic conventions of the ‘whodunit’ thriller to negotiate a crisis of norms in which traditional notions of masculinity and femininity have been destabilised. In exploring the ways in which this crisis manifests itself across a corpus of sixty films, I adopt the unique approach of restructuring the giallo into two distinct subcategories – ‘M-gialli’, focusing on male protagonists, and ‘F-gialli’, focusing on their female counterparts – and examining the differing ways in which they negotiate the same anxieties about gender and modern sociocultural transformation, and the differing solutions (or lack thereof) that they propose. I also examine the portrayal of gender/sexual minorities, children and teenagers as further articulations of concerns relating to the transformation of society. I argue that the gialli are characterised by a marked sense of ambivalence towards the upheavals of this period, precluding these films from being straightforwardly pigeonholed as either reactionary or progressive in their overriding ideology. This manifests itself in a plethora of uncertainties and contradictions in their narratives, mise en scène and the portrayal of the aforementioned characters, and an inability to provide credible solutions to the problems posed by the changing face of society. This thesis moves criticism of the giallo beyond merely describing its conventions to actively explaining them, and highlights the value in reading popular filmic movements as articulations of the prevalent anxieties, attitudes and worldviews of their era.

Resultat - Det är många företag inom fastighetsmäklarbranschen som använder sociala medier och har en strategi för sitt användande. Dock går det att utläsa från studien att flertalet företag bör se över och möjligen tydliggöra sina strategier för att få ett bättre hanterande av medierna. Utifrån analysen kan det också konstateras att fastighetsmäklarföretag bör använda sig av sociala medier som marknadsföringsverktyg eftersom det enligt undersökningen genererar fler kunder, är mer kostnadseffektivt än traditionell media och fungerar som ett bra komplement till traditionell media. Fler faktorer som påvisats med sociala medier genom studien är att det är viktigt att hänga med i utvecklingen, att det är lättare att kunder inte uppfattar företagens information som reklam när företaget publicerar den skickligt i sociala medier samt att medierna påverkar många kunder. Avgränsning - De företag som undersökts är svenska och ger därför endast ett resultat över hur fastighetsmäklarföretag inom Sverige hanterar sociala medier. Det är dessutom inte alla fastighetsmäklarföretag som studien innefattar utan endast de som finns på flera platser i Sverige och leds av ett huvudkontor. This essay is how companies are using Facebook to appear. The two companies in this study, Fritz Olsson AB Kalix and Promentum AB shows how Like, share and comment-contest communicates via Facebook. The purpose of this essay is to examine how Facebook users attitude and perception is to Like, share and comment- contest. The thesis was conducted in two parts, first a qualitative interview with the two companies that stand as examples in the paper and a quantitative online survey. The online survey was sent out to the 256 Media and Communication students at Umeå University, who read or has read the program from 2010 to 2016, via Facebook. The number of respondents was 69 students. The study is based in the theories of marketing, strategic communications and web 2.0. The results of the survey show that there are differences of opinion on how the setting is to Like, share and comment contests on Facebook. The companies have a good view of the contests, they have received positive feedback after the competition and plan to continue as long as there is an interest. None of these companies knew that there was a policy and guidelines from Facebook about how a contest should be designed. The majority of Facebook users who responded to the online survey consider that these contests are hidden marketing and that it fills the news feed with cheap nonsense. However there are some positive users to those who say it is easy and fun way to compete. Because it was a low response rate to the survey, it is important not to draw conclusions for all users, only look to those who responded. Based on the answers into this study shows that there are more people who have a less good attitude to Like, share and comment contests on Facebook than those who have a positive attitude towards them.
Den här uppsatsen handlar om hur företag använder sig av Facebook för att synas, hur företag, i den här undersökningen, Fritz Olsson AB Kalix och Promentum AB kommunicerar via Gilla, dela och kommentera-tävlingar på Facebook och vad Facebookanvändarnas har för inställning och uppfattning är till dessa. Uppsatsen genomfördes i två delar, först en kvalitativ intervju med de två företag som står som exempel i uppsatsen och en kvantitativ webbenkätundersökning. Webbenkäten skickades ut till de 256 medie- och kommunikationsstudenter vid Umeå universitet, som läser eller har läst programmet mellan 2010-2016, via Facebook, och antal svaranden slutade på 69 studenter. Undersökningen grundar sig i teorierna om marknadsföring, strategisk kommunikation och web 2.0. Resultatet av undersökningen visar på att det finns delade meningar om hur inställningen är till Gilla, dela och kommentera-tävlingar på Facebook. Företagen har en god syn på tävlingarna, de har fått positiv respons efter avslutad tävling och tänker fortsätta så länge det finns intresse. Inget av dessa företag visste om att det fanns policy och riktlinjer från Facebook om hur en tävling ska utformas. Majoriteten av Facebookanvändarna som svarade på webbenkäten anser dock att dessa tävlingar är dold marknadsföring och att det fyller nyhetsflödet med billigt trams. Dock finns det några positiva användare till dessa som säger att det är enkelt och roligt sätt att tävla. Eftersom att det var en låg svarsfrekvens på undersökningen är det viktigt att inte dra slutsatser för alla användare, utan endast se till de som svarade. Utifrån de svar som ändå kom in till den här undersökningen visar det på att det är fler som har en mindre bra inställning till Gilla, dela och kommentera-tävlingar på Facebook än de som har en positiv inställning till dessa.

A presente dissertação foi desenvolvida no âmbito do Mestrado Profissional em Gestão e Avaliação da Educação (PPGP) do Centro de Políticas Públicas e Avaliação da Educação da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (CAEd/UFJF). O caso de gestão estudado discute a ação da Macrogestão escolar representado pela Gerência de Educação Escolar Indígena (GEEI-SEDUC-AM) e da Microgestão da unidade escolar Escola Estadual Indígena Gildo Sampaio Megatanücü no município de Benjamin Constant/AM. Os objetivos definidos para este estudo foram no sentido de verificar se há a existência de uma fissura entre o que se ensina e o que se é avaliado, levando em consideração a peculiaridade da educação escolar indígena. Para tal, é feita uma análise de dados de avaliações externas aplicadas na Escola supramencionada, objeto desta pesquisa, bem como é apresentada sua história, sua estrutura e sua organização. Esta escola vem apresentando um baixo índice de proficiência escolar dos seus alunos do Ensino Médio, caracterizando um distanciamento entre o que está previsto na proposta apresentada pela SEDUC com a realidade de todas as especificidades que a escola indígena Gildo Sampaio apresenta. Utilizamos como metodologia a pesquisa qualitativa usando a amostragem não-probabilística por conveniência e tendo como método de investigação o estudo de caso, no qual foram usados instrumentos de coleta como: a análise documental e a aplicação de questionários semiestruturados aos gestores, monitores e professores comunitários. Diante do estudo, concluiu-se que se faz necessária a busca de um apoio técnico e administrativo para a efetivação de uma proposta curricular que represente, de fato, a realidade da Escola Indígena e reconheça a diversidade etnocultural e linguística do contexto indígena local onde a escola está instalada, e qual os direcionamentos na política estatal para contemplar as especificidades desta escola indígena. Uma proposta adequada e viável pode servir de base para as demais escolas indígenas do Amazonas.
The curriculum proposal for an indigenous school must meet all the specifics that legislation recommended for this type of education. The Secretary of State of Amazonas Education (SEDUC-AM) attempts to gradually promote the building of the Pedagogical Political Project for indigenous schools network within the criteria recommended by the National Reference for Indigenous Schools (RCNEI), but the challenges are many. The Indian State School Gildo Sampaio Megatanücü, object of this research serves as a reference for the current situation analysis and context in which the indigenous education in the state is. The current proposal for Indigenous Education presented by the Secretary of State of Amazonas Education (SEDUC-AM), aims to fully meet the specifics of what was proposed by the Federal Government in relation to Indigenous Education. The diagnosis presented can be viewed, in part, by the analysis of external evaluations of data applied in the Indian State School Gildo Sampaio Megatanücü in the municipality of Benjamin Constant AM. Indeed, the school in question in recent years has shown a low rate of school proficiency of their high school students. This characterizes this gap between what is foreseen in the proposal presented by SEDUC with the reality of all the features that the indigenous school Gildo Sampaio presents. It is noticed that there is a gap between what is taught and what is assessed, taking into account the peculiarity of indigenous education. In this context, the problem of this research is based on the current action of the school represented by the macro-management of Indigenous Education (GEEI-SEDUC-AM) and the micromanagement of school unit reflects the deficiency and the ineffectiveness of such assessments in indigenous schools, and its relationship with indigenous educational policy for Gildo Sampaio school, so take up this research as practical and qualitative example for reflections of indigenous school reality in the Amazon. It is necessary to search for a technical and administrative support for the effectiveness of a curriculum proposal that represents, in fact, the reality of Indigenous School and recognize the ethno-cultural and linguistic diversity of indigenous local context where the school is installed, and which directions in state policy to address the specificities of this indigenous school. Adequate and viable proposal could be the basis for the other Indian schools of Amazonas.

Det källmaterial som användes var Christopher-gillets medlemsmatrikel och mötesprotokoll åren 1944-1954. Christopher-gillets egen tidning Husby-rocken är även den använd som källmaterial.

Abstract:
This project is concerned with the development of software to invert seismic reflection data for acoustic impedance, with application to the YY-reservoir area in Gialo Field, Sirte Basin. The problem was that of inverting post-stack seismic reflection data from two seismic lines into impedance profiles. The main input to the inversion process is an initial guess, or initial earth model, of the impedance profile defined in terms of parameters. These parameters describe the impedance and the geometry of the number of layers that constitute the earth model. Additionally, an initial guess is needed for the seismic wavelet, defined in the frequency domain using nine parameters. The inversion is an optimisation problem subject to constraints. The optimisation problem is that of minimising the error energy function defined by the sum of squares of the residuals between the observed seismic trace and its prediction by the forward model for the given earth model parameters. To determine the solution we use the method of generalised linear inverses. The generalised inverse is possible only when the Hessian matrix, which describe the curvature of error energy surface, is positive definite. When the Hessian is not definite, it is necessary to modify it to obtain the nearest positive definite matrix. To modify the Hessian we used a method based on the Cholesky factorisation. Because the modified Hessian is positive definite, we need to find the generalised inverse only once. But we may need to restrict the step-length to obtain the minimum. Such a method is a step-length based method. A step-length based method was implemented using linear equality and inequality constraints into a computer program to invert the observed seismic data for impedance. The linear equality and inequality constraints were used so that solutions that are geologically feasible and numerically stable are obtained. The strategy for the real data inversion was to first estimate the seismic wavelet at the well, then optimise the wavelet parameters. Then use the optimum wavelet to invert for impedance and layer boundaries in the seismic traces. In the three real data examples studied, this inversion scheme proved that the delineation of the Chadra sands in Gialo Field is possible. Better results could be obtained by using initial earth models that properly parameterise the subsurface, and linear constraints that are based on well data. Defining the wavelet parameters in the time domain may prove to be more stable and could lead to better inversion results.

The aim of this study is to examine how a military presence effects the spatial planning of municipalities in Sweden. The focus of this paper will be on how municipal planners view the military presence and to what extent it influences their planning. And if so, how it does affect their planning. To fulfil the aim of this study four semi structured interviews was carried through with planners in the municipalities of Haninge, Skövde, Upplands-Bro and Uppsala. Municipalities that today has a military presence and also has a history of having this presence. The results of this study point out that these four municipalities view the military presence as a fact that has an impact on their planning. There is a variation of in what matter this impact is positive or negative. The different views on the military presence could be explained by a variation of the extent between the communication between the municipalities and armed forces, on how close to the urban areas the military presence is and what branch of the armed forces that is present.

The thesis focuses on a large residence by architect Irving Gill: the house for Marie and Chauncey Dwight Clarke in Santa Fe Springs, California (1919-22). The Clarke House was only discovered as a Gill building in 1981; and although praised by a prominent California historian as a project comparable in the strength of its design to Gill's masterpiece Dodge House (1914-16), there has been virtually nothing published on the project. The thesis attempts to collect the known information about the Clarke House; it documents the house through a series of new photographs, and provides a first set of drawings for the project. The Clarke House is set within the context of Gill's oeuvre in order to lay the groundwork for a wider critical interpretation. The thesis seeks a methodological approach which would avoid seeing Gill's work as either a purely regionalist phenomenon, or an example of Gill's proto-(European) modernism. Rather, the thesis adopts a method which could be called an "iconology of materials." A focus on the material context does not imply any obvious mechanistic relation between the properties of reinforced concrete and Gill's architectural forms - indeed, it will be shown that there is no obvious correlation. While Gill has become synonymous with the pioneering of concrete building technology in California, his interest in the material was always tempered by an intensely pragmatic social philosophy, predicated on economy. In proposing a cultural analysis of concrete in Gill's work, the thesis attempts to account for Gill's passion for reinforced concrete and his ambivalence to its structural potential. It analyzes how Gill exploited concrete's plasticity, monolithic quality, color, and surface effects. Comparisons of the Clarke House to several other major residences also built in Los Angeles c. 1920, show that he was not alone in the metaphoric rediscovery of concrete in California. Yet, the thesis argues that Gill's particular mastery of the material, as evidenced in the Clarke House, depended on his distillation of poignant symbolic images in the work.
