Full textAlthough the "Beaux quartiers” are less subject to sociological investigation, they remain prominent segregated spaces in France. Studies and research on the bourgeoisie and on specific spaces of the bourgeoisie are often focused on large French cities such as Paris, Lyons or Marseilles. A smaller city such as Metz has never been studied solely in terms of its bourgeois population. The objective of this dissertation is to examine the socioeconomic characteristics of the Metz bourgeoisie and the way in which it is distributed within the Metz urban area. The latter encompasses the central city of Metz and also its suburbs and suburban ring. Our research is based on empirical material consisting of semi-structured interviews conducted with representative members of the Metz bourgeoisie or highly regarded bourgeois and aristocratic Metz families, as well as with various specialists (real estate agents specialising in prestigious properties, art historians, etc.). In order to grasp the complexity of the Metz bourgeoisie, various statistical and cartographic indicators but also photographic material were used.Firstly, the study presents a state of the art on social and territorial fragmentation in France so as to highlight upward ghettoization.Secondly, the study sheds light on the main benchmarks of wealth and its estimation, while specifying the representational and multidimensional aspects. In addition, the challenges and difficulties of studying wealth and the bourgeoisie are also explained. The Metz bourgeoisie is then studied through the fourfold prism of its residential distribution, its sociability spaces, its socio-economic and socio-electoral characteristics, but also the prism of some of the city's great emblematic families – after a historical perspective. Finally, the study describes and comparatively analyses a particular space of the Metz bourgeoisie – the “Nouvelle Ville” neighbourhood – by showing elements of urban and social morphology and by explaining the criteria of residential selection and the forms of sociability specific to the inhabitants of this rich self-segregated neighbourhood

Full textIn the course of our program focused on the preparation of high-nitrogen content heterocyclic compounds, we wish to report the synthesis of two polyheterocyclic compounds. The first synthesis is focused on the nitration of substituted pyridine. Direct nitration with mixture of concentrated (or fuming) nitric acid and concentrated sulfuric acid, or in some cases with concentrated nitric acid and acetic anhydride gave unexpected regioselectivities. The preparation of the second target is focused on an original synthesis of the tricyclic 7-azidofurazano[3,4-b]tetrazolopyrazine via an unprecedented reaction between 2,6-dimethoxy-3,5-dinitropyrazine and hydrazine hydrate. This compound was identified by an X-Ray diffraction analysis. Further studies of its structure by 15N and 13C NMR spectroscopy were carried out in different solvents. This allowed us to observe a noteworthy equilibrium involving three forms resulting from the reversible opening of a tetrazole ring

Full textWith the development of multi-media networks and the growing exchanges of information, the scientific community is interested more and more in techniques of encryption and compression in order to make these exchanges safe and to gain memory storage capacity. Several numerical algorithms of encryption and compression were proposed. However the numerical coding of information requires significant computing times and the processing can be very expensive. This led to the consideration of optics as a solution, particularly for images. This choice is justified by the facility which optics carries out two dimensional Fourier transforms with high parallelism. This PhD thesis is built around two neighbouring themes: compression and multiplexing of information on the one hand, compression and encryption on the other hand. These two problems are tackled with the same approach which is filtering. The data are processed in the Fourier domain. As optical correlation, the segmented filter is a way to fuse information in the Fourier domain between several references. It allows extracting specific or relevant information to each or several references and rejecting the redundant information; thus, a compression operation is done. In the same manner, we have used a similar approach for encrypting operations in images

Full textThe central fore-pyrenees and their tectonic fore are a geographical zone with numerous populations who had few resources at their disposal in the xviith century. By 1720 the population increased whereas the landed property concentration went on. As the peasant's lot was becoming more and more precarious, a part of the century folk looked for complementary means of support in the seasonal activity of cloth manufacturing. So they took part in the protoindustrial growth which developed according to divergent chronologies in accordance with the concerned places (early in "comminges" and "nebouzan", late in "volvestre", non existent in the "pays de foix", the poorest and most over populated part of that area). That growth stopped during the first decenniums of the xixth century. The moderate growth of agriculture, of industrial activities and of the production of local handicrafts could not supply the resources required for the mainten ance of a population who had become plethoric. In the second half of the xixth century, the rural world lost its populat then, country-folk lived better since they could take advantage of the improvement of medicine and sanitation as well as of the moderate growth of agriculture which went on. At the end of the xixth century, the upper part of the drainage basin of the garonne river seemed to be asleep. It only had a moderate growth whereas the north and east of france were full in the middle of industrial development. That apathy is mostly due to the wish of the social elites to perpetuate a pattern of legitimation of the elites founded on t he possession of landed property. However this deliberate choice does not exclude adjustments in the constitution of the patrimony, and in the partial redeployment of the activities of the middle-classes of the "midi toulousain" which show t hat they have not stood stock-still but have relied on another type of growth which was not the one of capitalist indust

Full textIn a four-year longitudinal study, we followed about twenty elite teenagers soccer and their families. We tried to understand the challenges of psychological support for the high-level athletic teenager in a sports structure. A triangulation of methods characterizes our research work. It crosses qualitative and quantitative data in different systems : sports and family. Once data were analysed, we developed modeling from the Ionescu model. It can help sports psychology professionals to identify the times and spaces of resilience in a teenager's sport path that enable his individuation. Our methodology opens up new possibilities of intervention in the field of sport to meet new needs. Questioning the appropriateness of psychological support has led to questions about the reponsability of sports organizations on the biopsychosocial development of the adolescent on the one and support for the parenthood of his family on the other

Full textSystems are becoming more and more complex, because to stay competitive, companies whichdesign systems search to add more and more functionalities to them. Additionally, this competition impliesthat the design of systems needs to be reactive, so that the system is able to evolve during its conception andfollow the needs of the market. This capacity to design flexibly complex systems is hindered or even prevented by various variouselements, with one of them being the system specifications. In particular, the use of natural language tospecify systems have several drawbacks. First, natural language is inherently ambiguous and this can leadsto non-conformity if customer and supplier of a system disagree on the meaning of its specification.Additionally, natural language is hard to process automatically : for example, it is hard to determine, usingonly a computer program, that two natural language requirements contradict each other. However, naturallanguage is currently unavoidable in the specifications we studied, because it remains very practical, and itis the most common way to communicate. We aim to complete these natural language requirements with elements which allow to make them lessambiguous and facilitate automatic processing. These elements can be parts of models (architectural modelsfor example) and allow to define the vocabulary and the syntax of the requirements. We experimented theproposed principles on real industrial specifications and we developped a software prototype allowing totest a specification enhanced with these vocabulary and syntax elements

Full textThe complex molecular architecture of Vancomycin and the recent emergence of the vancomycin-resistance phenomenon have rendered it an attractive synthetic target for chemists. In connection with our work aimed at developing a new strategy towards the construction of the ABCOD ring, an efficient synthesis of actinoidic acid common to all the antibiotics belonging to the vancomycin family was required. The first part of this report deals with the synthesis of actinoidic acid, which applies the Meyer's reaction to build the aryl-aryl bond. The other key step is the Strecker reaction based on the use of a sulfinimine as a chiral auxiliary in order to introduce a chiral amino acid. In the second part, we have studied the synthesis of RP66453, a neurotensin antagonist, it could be useful in the treatment of nervous diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Its structure is similar to that of vancomicyne and the main stuctural feature if this natural product is the presence of two macrocycles with an aryl-aryl and an aryl-aryl bond. .

Full textZeolites are widely used in catalysis. One of today’s major challenges is to obtain nanometer-sized crystals, offering promising prospects for the design of more active and more selective acid catalysts, in particular for heavy oil conversion processes. Zeolite nanocrystals can be obtained by using growth inhibitors. This thesis focused on the identification of two families of organic compounds limiting the crystals growth. For the first one, the growth inhibition is favored by the adsorption of organic compounds (polycations, amino acids…) on the surface of growing crystals. This study was conducted using a high-throughput experiment methodology and led to zeolite Y (FAU) crystals of 300 nm by the addition of L-lysine. The second family is derived from Ryoo’s team approach and consists of the use of bifunctional compounds including one structure-directing function and one growth-inhibiting function. This study started with the synthesis of MFI zeolite. The molecular modelling allowed identifying an alkyl mono-ammonium directing the formation of 2 nm-thick nanosheets of zeolite ZSM-5. The kinetic study revealed that this zeolite is synthesized from a lamellar polysilicate formed in situ. This identification strategy, coupled to a high-troughput experiment methodology, was applied to the synthesis of zeolites EMC-1 (FAU) and EMC-2 (EMT) and conducted to the elaboration of new structure-directing agents and their bifunctional counterparts

Full textSince 2005, there is an important interest in the international metrology community fornew accurate determinations of the Boltzmann constant kB ; the purpose is to redefine in2015 the unit of thermodynamic temperature, the kelvin. Currently, five techniques areimplemented for determining kB with the objective to achieve a relative uncertainty below1 × 10−6. The method used in the present work is based on acoustic measurements. The Boltzmann constant is linked to the speed of sound u in a noble gas by the virial acousticalequation. The method described here consists in measuring u inside a quasi-sphericalacoustic resonator of inner volume of 0.5 L filled with argon. Measurements are performedduring an isotherm process at the temperature of the triple point of water, T = 273.16 K,at static pressures P from 0.05 MPa to 0.7 MPa. The Boltzmann constant is then determinedby estimating u at zero pressure limit with a polynomial regression. In the present work an acoustic wave propagation model within a quasi-spherical resonatoris defined. Also, the technical means used to carefully control the parameters of theexperiment with an effect on the measurement of u (like temperature, static pressure, gascomposition, etc.) are presented. New exprimental methods and data analyses are described, like the measurement of the radius of the resonator by electromagnetic spectroscopy,as well as the use of the Allan deviation as an efficient tool to study the gas impuritypresence during a long-term experience. Systematic effects are analyzed and corrected. Insome cases the corrections are based on analytical models like the thermal layer boundaryeffect. In other cases, empirical correction functions are proposed, as for the case of changesin the measurements of u related to the continuous gas flow, which was experimentally characterizedin the present work. Finally, the analysis of the data acquiered in 2009 at LCM/LNE-CNAM during two isothermprocesses using argon is presented. This leads to the value kB = 1.3806475 (16) ×10−23 J · K−1, i.e. with a relative uncertainty of 1.14 × 10−6

Full textFrontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) syndrome is the second most common of presenile dementia. FTLD is a clinically heterogeneous syndrome and comprises many hereditary cases. Common neuropathological features rely on a degeneration of the frontal and/or anterior temporal lobes, associated to specific inclusions of aggregated proteins including TAR DNA binding protein 43 (TDP43). Unfortunately, no practical protein marker is currently validated to improve FTLD diagnosis in living patients.A cohort of FTLD patients with definite TDP43 pathology was defined with the development of specific genetic testing. An analysis of TDP43 concentrations in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) was performed in this cohort and then compared to other cohorts well-characterized on clinical and neuropathological features. Finally, qualitative patterns of TDP43 were studied in compartments accessible from the patient’s living: profiles of soluble TDP43 protein (in CSF or in plasma) and intracellular TDP43 protein (in the formed elements of blood) were compared to protein patterns observed in brain tissues with TDP43 protein inclusions. Platelet samples exhibit similar characteristics to brain tissue and could become a candidate biomarker for FTLD probabilistic diagnosis

Full textWe now understand theoretically that galaxy evolution involves inflows of “cold” gas from the cosmic web. But corresponding models grow galaxies with amounts of baryons larger than observed galaxies. To overcome this issue, theorists focus on making star formation inefficient by massively blowing gas out of star-forming disks. I explore a different road, investigating processes that may moderate gas accretion onto disks. We present a phenomenological scenario where gas accretion flows – if it is shocked – become biphasic and, as a result, turbulent. In this framework, we show that the formation of warm, turbulent clouds, embedded in a hot component, occurs in the important mass range of ∼ 10^11 − 10^13 Msun, where the bulk of stars have formed in galaxies. Gas accreted from intergalactic filaments (IGF) may eventually lose coherence and mix with the ambient halo gas. The direct interaction between galaxy feedback and accretion streams is thus more likely. Moderating the accretion efficiency may help to alleviate a number of significant challenges in theoretical galaxy formation. Using the code Ramses, I performed a zoom-in simulation and extracted the results for a particular accreting IGF into a halo of ∼ 3 10^11 Msun at z ∼ 2. I investigate the gas thermodynamics and structuration, along and across the filament, with respect to dark matter. I study several key quantities as they evolve along the filament and derive a refined paradigm to study filaments, as well as consequences regarding their fate after entering a halo. I finally make use of these results to extrapolate gas processes that the simulation may not have captured accurately
Korsakoff, Alexandra. "Vers une définition genrée du réfugié : étude de droit français." Thesis, Normandie, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018NORMC018.
Full textThe purpose of this thesis is to test, in the specific context of French law, the veracity and durability of feminist and gendered review of the refugee definition, which consists in denouncing the failure to take into account persecutions suffered by women and sexual minorities in the election process. It is a mixed conclusion that emerges from the study because, despite the numerous international and European pressures calling for a gendered analysis of the concept, these criticisms inherited from the 1980s still appear, to a large extent, to be relevant. Admittedly, the exclusion of gender-related persecution that they denounced has somewhat weakened, because persecutions suffered by women and members of sexual minorities are no longer excluded, as a matter of principle, from the scope of the refugee definition. However, there is still no political or jurisdictional will to fully integrate them into the analysis. Indeed, the efforts made to take them into account are still insufficient, leaving subtle obstacles to their integration, obstacles that are all the more difficult to identify and overcome

Full textThe present study deals with the birth of a European diplomacy from the Polish point of view. Throughout the history of the European construction, the aim is to analyze the progress towards the establishment of the European External Action Service (EEAS). Launched in 2010 under the authority of the High Représentative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and the Security Policy, it had to reform in depth the external relations of the European Union (EU) and allow it to assert itself as an actor on the international stage. The Polish approach enables to grasp more concretely the political and stratégie issues related to the création of a common EU diplomacy. Two aspects of this European diplomacy are studied : its face and its apparatus. This study examines the successive developments of the EU external représentation in the context of the emergence of European diplomacy networks. It demonstrates that the EEAS has caused tectonic movements in the European institutional architecture and within national diplomatie services

Full textRisk-taking behaviours of young people are issues that need to be addressed. Understanding their origins could prevent them from wide spreading. Consequently, this thesis focused on the psychological factors of vulnerability to alcohol use and subclinical eating disorders amongst young people. More specifically, we examined the influences of parental attachment, personality characteristics and alexithymia on these risk-taking behaviours through different models. Three studies have been carried out. The first one aimed to assess the role of the parental attachment and self-concept in alcohol use of adolescents (N = 245). The second one identified direct and indirect effects of parental attachment, personality characteristics and alexithymia on alcohol use and subclinical eating disorders amongst a sample of student athletes (N = 434). The third study emphasized the direct and indirect relationships between parental attachment, personality facets, alexithymia and subclinical eating disorders amongst a sample of elite athletes (N = 275). The findings provided evidence that risk-taking behaviours of young people were linked with an insecure parental attachment and difficulties in identifying and describing their feelings. Alcohol use was related to low conscientiousness whereas subclinical eating disorders were related to high neuroticism. Insecure parental attachment influenced alcohol use through its influence on conscientiousness and difficulties in identifying one’s feelings. Finally insecure attachment influenced subclinical eating disorders through high neuroticism, and specifically high impulsivity amongst elite athletes.Key words: alcohol use, subclinical eating disorders, parental attachment, alexithymia, personality factors, adolescents, student athletes, elite athletes

Full textDuring the first billion years of the Universe, the first galaxies formed and ionized the neutral inter-galactic medium. Observations of rest-frame ultraviolet and optical spectra of galaxies into the reionization epoch will soon be possible with the help of the James Webb Space Telescope. The light emitted by these galaxies contains valuable information about their physical properties, in particular, the characterisation of the sources that were able to reionize the Universe. We explore physically self-consistent models of star-forming galaxies, including the influence of stellar multiplicity on the production of ionizing photons by young stellar populations, the leakage of Lyman-continuum photons from density-bounded HII regions and the contribution by an active galactic nucleus and radiative shocks to nebular emission. We compare these models with a sample of metal-poor star-forming galaxies – whose properties are expected to approach those of primeval galaxies – and Lyman-continuum leakers at various redshifts, in a collection of ultraviolet and optical emission-line diagnostic diagrams. From this analysis, we investigate how we can learn about the nature of the ionizing sources and the leakage of ionizing photons in such galaxies. We also present preliminary tests of the implementation in progress of the emission from narrow-line regions of active galactic nuclei in a spectral interpretation tool

Full textActual models and observations of the Universe agreed at large scale. But the formation of baryonic structures remains unknown. To constrain structure formation in the Universe, observatoins are needed at different redshift to see different evolution steps. Planck satellite gives an acces to objetcs in the redshift range z=2 to z=4. Thus we detect about 1200 extragalactic objects in 26% of the sky near galactic poles, candidates to be at high redshift. A sample of 228 sources is observed at higher sensibility and resolution than Planck with Herschel satellite. This lead to resolve ponctual Planck sources in several Herschel sources. So I identify three possible types of object : candidates sources of gravitationally amplified lenses, galaxy cluster candidates and alignement of sources along the line of sight. I find in the sample 11 sources amplified by gravitationnal lensing, some of the brightest of the submillimeter sky. Those have redshift between z=2.2 and z=3.6 (Canameras et al., 2015) and provide a zoom in the stellar formation of the far Universe. It let 217 overdensity of sources that I study. With their colour in Herschel data, I find an estimate of their density. 50% of Herschel fields have an overdensity greater than 10sigma using red sources colour selection (S250/S350 < 1.4 et S500/S350 > 0.6). This show that our ample is mainly composed of red overdensity. Fitting Herschel-SPIRE photometry with a modify black body at 35K, I show that the photmetric redshift distribution of Herschel sources peaks around z=2. Our sample is now composed of 11 lensed sources and 217 galaxy cluster candidates at z~2. These galaxy cluster candidates contain an average of 9 SPIRE sources in 4.5’ diameter beam. Individual sources have a luminosity distribution peaking at 4.1012 Lsun which leads to a star formation rate (SFR) of 700 Msun.yr-1 (Bell et al. 2003). This gives an estimate structure luminosity of 4.1013 Msun and an SFR of 7000 Msun.yr-1 assuming that sources are members of the same structure. Our sample traces dense structure at high star formation rate in the full sky. This sample will be a key in the comprehension of structure formation and star formation at redshift about z=2

Full textSince its inception in 1998, the eXtensible Markup Language (XML) has emerged as a standard for data representation and exchange over the Internet. XML provides an opportunity for modeling data structures that are not easily represented in relational systems. In this context, XML data warehouses nowadays form the basis of several decision-support applications exploiting heterogeneous data (little structured and coming from various sources) bearing complex structures, such as complex hierarchies. In this thesis, we propose a novel XOLAP (XML-OLAP) approach that automatically detects and processes summarizability issues at query time, without requiring any particular expertise from the user. Thus, at the logical level, we choose XML data trees, so-called multidimensional data trees, to model the multidimensional structures (facts, dimensions, measures and complex hierarchies) of XML data warehouses. In order to query multidimensional data trees, we model user queries as XML pattern trees. Then, we introduce a new aggregation algorithm to address summarizability issues in complex hierarchies. On the basis of this algorithm, we propose a novel XOLAP roll-up operator. Finally, we experimentally validate our proposal and compare our approach with the reference approach for addressing summarizability issues in complex hierarchies. For this sake, we extend the XML warehouse benchmark XWeB with complex hierarchies to generate XML data warehouses with scalable complex hierarchies. The results of our experiments show that the overhead induced by managing hierarchy complexity at run-time is totally acceptable and that our approach is expected to scale up well

Full textThe social value of historic districts has been attracted growing attention in recent years in China. This phenomenon can be explained by an orientation of the Chinese urban strategy which has moved from the notion of "functional city" to that of "cultural city". This transition has triggered a radical change in the overall strategy of historic districts revalorization, from the idea of renovation to rehabilitation. Based on this observation, the thesis will pursue the search for a more durable model of "progressive small-scale renewal" of historic districts by assuming that, the model of spontaneous rehabilitation - going from the bottom to the top and bringing together various actors - is more relevant. In this context, the present research aims to study urban transformation processes with a socio-spatial approach, in order to clarify and understand the mechanisms, the actors involved and the socio-economic changes in the transformation of historic districts in contemporary China
Lebon-Samborski, Émilie. "La réception du théâtre d’Aristophane dans la littérature grecque de l’époque impériale." Thesis, Sorbonne université, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019SORUL126.
Full textThe reception of Aristophanes’s comedy in the Greek literature of the Roman Empire is extensive. Based on the history of transmission of the comedies, which from their creation to the the first two centuries AD were rarely performed on stage but spread and re-interpreted by different means, whether iconographic or textual, this dissertation studies the place and role of this theatre in the cultural landscape of the Roman Empire, specifically in the work of Greek prose writers. The status of this theatre seems at first sight quite problematic: it is rarely mentioned and if mentioned it is spoken of with theoretical disapproval, yet the writers, in various literary genres and forms, fully appropriated it. The rewriting of the comedies is at stake on many levels: on the historic and linguistic levels, in the light of how these texts are anchored in the Attic context and language, and the stock of realia they contain, which contributes to demonstrating the "pepaideumenoi"‘s hellenism in the Empire; on the moral and comic levels, too, as well with satires and parodies; and to a larger extent on the poetic and rhetorical levels, this theatre becomes a conveyor of images and guaranteeing creativity and authority. Two case studies were presented here about emblematic writers of the imperial period, Plutarch of Chaeronea and Lucian of Samosata: they make protean and ambiguous use of the reference to Aristophanes, that this dissertation attempts to clarify
Gohri, Vipul. "Development of top-emission Organic Light-Emitting Diodes for High luminance monochrome and full-colour microdisplay applications." Thesis, Grenoble, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012GRENT070/document.
Full textThe present work reports the development of high luminance organic light emitting diodes(OLEDs) device stacks for microdisplay applications. The devices are based on siliconcomplementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) backplane. In the present treatise effortsare particularly focused on reducing the luminance decay and the voltage drift during deviceoperation. In the first part of this study, high brightness and low operating voltage green OLEDs arereported. The top emitting device stack comprises of fluorescent green emitter accompanied bycharge blocking layers and doped charge transport layers. The effect of different devicestructures, configurations and organic materials on the initial and lifetime performance of thedevice is presented. In the second part of the study, device development of hybrid OLED stacks for high luminancefull color microdisplays is reported. The hybrid devices comprise of a solution processed andphotocrosslinkable hole transport layer (X-HTL) and an evaporated white OLED stack. Thismethod allows direct primary color generation with relatively high efficiency and offers ease ofcolor tunability by controlling the thickness of the X-HTL

Full textThis research focuses on the use-value of green roofs in Plateau Mont-Royal, a borough in the city of Montreal. It focuses on the problematic state of urban sprawl by trying to estimate the use-value of the green roof, backyard and terrace, supported by the real estate argumentation of each facilities. Urban sprawl is the source of serious problems and the absorption of its harmful effects has become a priority in urban planning. One of the main reasons underlying the prevalent urban exodus is the value given to the use of exterior land offered by the single-family suburban habitat. In this situation, the main interest is to know if the inclusion of private open spaces in urban areas can participate in the resumption of the urban exodus. Because lack of soil in the city is an obstacle, the private green roof appears as a smart, although limited, alternative for the land surrounding a house. But this option is only relevant if people value these alternative private open spaces as they value the ground spaces. After analysis, it happens that the green roof has no use-value comparable to the backyard in the observed context, particularly because their respective public opposes outright. On the other hand, based on construction data, the terrace and green roof seem to have a comparable use-value.

Full textThis paper aims to assess the reforms that regulate the appointment power conferred by the Royal Prerogative to the Prime minister. Our study is largely based on historical institutionalism in political science and analysis in terms of “path dependency”. This theory argues that once policymakers begin a course of public policy, their subsequent decisions will follow the same direction. Based on governmental documents, transcripts of parliamentary committees and the example of Great Britain, this work seeks to assess whether the reforms to constrain the appointment power of the Prime Minister of Canada validates the “path dependence” approach. Our findings leads us rather to see that with regard to appointments, Canada is more monarchical than Great Britain. Our general conclusion is that the Canadian approach is not “path dependent” but can be better described as “disjointed incrementalism”.
