Abstract:
At the intersection of technology and the natural world, humanity becomes a ghostly presence in “Weather Room,” Geoffrey Pugen’s 2020 solo show at MKG 127. De-centring the presence of the human figure, the exhibition becomes an investigation of the “hyper-sublime,” asking the question: who does this hyper-sublime world belong to, if not humanity?

James, D. Geraint. "The Portraiture of William Harvey (1578–1657) Unveiled by the Detective Work of Geoffrey Keynes (1887–1983) and Alex Sakula (1917–2003)." Journal of Medical Biography 13, no. 2 (May 2005): 113–16. http://dx.doi.org/10.1177/096777200501300212.

Abstract:
In November 1948, Sir Geoffrey Keynes exhibited the only known portrait of William Harvey in mid-life. The recovery of this rare portrait was due to Keynes's detective work at visits to Rolls Park in Essex. Dr Alex Sakula discovered the Betchworth portraits of the Harvey family by accident when he was invited to visit a patient, Major General Goulburn, at Betchworth in Surrey. After much research work Sakula was able to mount an informative exhibition at the Royal College of Physicians. Sakula also reminded us of Eliab Harvey (1758–1830), William's descendant, captain of the Téméraire at the Battle of Trafalgar; the year 2005 marks the bicentenary.

Abstract:
Arthur Geoffrey Walker was born in Watford, Hertfordshire, on 17 July 1909, and attended Watford Grammar School, from where he won in 1928 an Open Mathematical Scholarship to Balliol College, Oxford. There, his tutor was John William Nicholson FRS, who had been a professor at King's College, London, and was one of the first mathematical physicists to relate quantum theory to atomic spectra. However, in the late 1920s he was suffering from a psychiatric illness and in 1930 was hospitalized, so that Walker had to study on his own a great deal. This perhaps influenced his subsequent method of working on mathematics, which he normally did in the privacy of his room rather than in active consultation with others. He obtained a Second in Moderations, but in 1930 won a Junior Mathematical Exhibition and in 1931 took a First with a Distinction in the special subject of differential geometry, which was to become his life's work. Eisenhart's book Riemannian geometry (Eisenhart 1926) became his bible and he continually referred to it in many of his papers.

Shirazi, Sadia. "Slo Curating: Restitution, Archives, Access and Care." Journal of Curatorial Studies 11, no. 2 (October 1, 2022): 208–33. http://dx.doi.org/10.1386/jcs_00070_1.

Abstract:
This article elaborates a theory of slo curating as a durational practice and methodology. It interrogates concepts such as provenance, chain of relation, collections and conservation that it establishes are part of a colonial episteme undergirding the museum and its exhibitionary practices. Starting from recent digitization projects of museum collections, I analyse artist-led curatorial projects, legal cases and requests for restitution by colonized and Indigenous peoples across the world that challenge long-standing imperial concepts that inform museum studies. Projects by the Rapa Nui, Iqbal Geoffrey, Julie Tolentino, Constantina Zavitsanos and سراب/Saraab (Shahana Rajani and Omer Wasim) are discussed alongside El Paquete Semanal (2008–ongoing) and Exhibition Without Objects (2012–ongoing), foregrounding their alternative theoretical approaches to archives, access, labour, temporality and borders. Slo curating offers a set of curatorial practices and methods that are at the service of people instead of institutions.
