Abstract:

In many engineering applications, including radar, sonar, communications and seismology, the direction of impinging signal wavefronts can be used to discriminate between competing sources. Often these source signals cover a wide bandwidth and conventional narrowband beamforming techniques are ineffective, since spatial resolution varies significantly across the band. In this thesis we consider the problem of beamforming for broadband signals, primarily when the spatial response remains constant as a function of frequency. This is called a frequency invariant beamformer (FIB).¶ Rather than applying the numerical technique of multi-parameter optimisation to solve for the beamformer parameters, we attempt to address the fundamental nature of the FIB problem. The general philosophy is to use a theoretical continuous sensor to derive relationships between a desired FI beampattern and the required signal processing structure. Beamforming using an array of discrete sensors can then be formulated as an approximation problem. This approach reveals a natural structure to the FIB which is otherwise buried in a numerical optimisation procedure.¶ Measured results from a microphone array are presented to verify that the simple FIB structure can be successfully implemented. We then consider imposing broadband pattern nulls in the FI beampattern, and show that (i) it is possible to impose an exact null which is present over all frequencies, and (ii) it is possible to calculate a priori how many constraints are required to achieve a null of a given depth in a FIB. We also show that the FIB can be applied to the problem of broadband direction of arrival (DOA) estimation and provides computational advantages over other broadband DOA estimators.¶ Through the theoretical continuous sensor approach, we show that the FIB theory can be generalised to the problem of designing a general broadband beamformer (GBB) which realizes a broadband angle-versus-frequency beampattern specification. Coupled with a technique for radial beampattern transformation, the GBB can be applied to a wide class of problems covering both nearfield beamforming (in which the shape of the impinging wavefront must be considered and farfield beamforming (which is simplified by the assumption of planar wavefronts) for a broadband beampattern specified over both angle and frequency.

Abstract:

This doctoral research by Jane Whynot explores how Gender-based Analysis/Plus (GBA/+), has been integrated into the Canadian federal government’s evaluation function. This research has been supervised by Dr. Caroline Andrew at the University of Ottawa. Efforts presented in this dissertation have been profoundly influenced by political leadership, and their efforts to reprioritize gender equality and other elements of diversity across the bureaucracy. Presumably, employing this mechanism across the policy cycle will provide information to decision-makers that will ultimately impact diversity, equity, and inclusion (EDI) outcomes. Canada is unique amongst governments worldwide in its efforts to so comprehensively consider personal identity elements in policy discourse. Sadly, however, the federal government’s evaluation function is lagging. Both domestic and international cues prompting the integration of gender and other elements of diversity into evaluation efforts have fallen unheard despite official domestic commitments formalizing these linkages. Theories of intersectionality, and how intersectional analysis is undertaken are at the core of this research. The “+” in GBA was intended to represent all elements of personal identity beyond gender such as but not limited to race, language, sexuality, geographic location, disability, and Aboriginal status. The federal government’s lead agency for gender equality does not explicitly reference details on any of these components in their publicly facing materials. These elements are embedded in this research’s conceptual framework and subsequent lines of evidence. Michie, VanStalen, and West’s (2012) theory of behavioural change provides the foundational structure for this research. These authors suggest that (c)apacity change only occurs when (m)otivations, (o)opportunities, and c(apabilities) are simultaneously present. Mayne (2016, 2017, 2018) was responsible for integrating this model of behavioural change into program theory; it is this COM-B theory of change (ToC) that has been used as the conceptual framework for this research. In Mayne’s COM-B ToC, capacity change outcomes are situated mid-results chain and are accompanied by both precedent and antecedent outcomes. A tailored ToC for integrating GBA+ in the federal government’s evaluation function is presented in the thesis that aligns with the changing state of GBA+ implementation across the policy cycle, honing in on the federal government evaluation function. This research was initiated before the specific articulation of GBA+ as a federal government priority in the Policy on Results (Treasury Board Secretariat, 2016); the conceptual framework serves to capture the dynamic nature of the state of GBA/+ implementation across the federal government’s policy cycle. This research adopted a mixed-methods approach involving qualitative and quantitative lines of evidence as recognized by Greene (2007). Supporting lines of evidence included: • A survey was administered to the Heads of Evaluation (HoE) who are senior level decision-makers responsible for the evaluation function within each federal government organization. Survey questions posed addressed the entire tailored ToC. Responses were intentionally designed to solicit binary responses; • A critical review of all publicly accessible federal government produced resources exploring the linkage between gender mainstreaming, GBA and GBA+ and evaluation; • Key informant interviews comprised of representatives from various federal government organizations including leads from central agencies and those responsible for gender mainstreaming, academics with expertise in feminist evaluation, Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), and • Case studies of federal government evaluation functions exploring the integration of GBA+ in evaluation efforts (n=6). Each case study focused on a different element of GBA+ evaluation integration. Focus areas of each case study included: 1 organization focused on building evaluation function capacity to integrate GBA+, 1 organization focused on building capacity to integrate GBA+ amongst the evaluation and performance measurement and/or results unit, and 4 organizations focused on a single program. Each case study included the following lines of evidence: a literature review, a review of evaluations for GBA+ since 2016, a review of organizational documentation, key informant interviews, and for 3 case studies, a combination of focus groups/information exchange sessions. The COM-B tailored ToC for integrating GBA/+ in the federal government’s evaluation function encompasses a causal outcome pathway represented by a results chain. These pathways map a series of outcomes extending from activities and outputs, stakeholder reach/reaction, capacity change, behaviour change, direct benefits, and improved well-being. Each of these outcomes has multiple accompanying assumptions. Data from the tailored ToC is presented across thesis chapters. Despite widespread recognition of nascent GBA+ policy requirements and the federal government’s GBA+ tool, little GBA+ instrumental evaluation use has resulted. A wide interval exists however between awareness and use. Nestled between building GBA+ capacity and instrumental use within evaluation functions, are multiple examples of GBA+ conceptual and process use. Many organizations are aware of the federal government’s GBA+ tool, but there is inconsistent uptake of related training opportunities to build this capacity. Many federal organizations have undertaken only comparative or additive intersectional analysis and indicated limited intention to progress to interactional or truly intersectional integration analysis. To some extent, evaluation functions must navigate their course in this uncharted territory. Federal government organizations identifying as having established some capacity for GBA+ integration have developed unique GBA+ evaluation tools specific to their organizations in the absence of central agency guidance materials and a lack of evaluation function engagement of Gender Champions (GC) and Gender Focal Points (GFP). This research provided the first examination within the governmental contexts of efforts to integrate intersectional research within evaluation functions. While providing answers to many questions, many more arise – consequently providing the foundation for a potential future research program.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis describes the development of a MOD music player to run on GBA (Game Boy Advance) for Lypson Game Engine. GBA is a basic platform for embedded development, and the stereo system makes it possible to use the platform as a music player. The sound players of the GBA for Lypson Game Engine were designed to play wave files and the size of typical wave files is in the order of megabytes. MOD files are much smaller when compared with wave ones. Therefore, to avoid consuming the resources of the CPU and memory to process and store wave files, the use of MOD files represents a better alternative.The development took C++ as programming language and the development platform used was HAM. The first step was to obtain samples of music, and then control the hardware of GBA to play sound. After that, came the phase of combining it with Lipson Game Engine. These tasks enabled the acquisition of knowledge about the frame of MOD files; learning how to make the GBA play sound and mastering the operating instruction of GBA hardware by the process of development. In addition, it provided a chance to learn about embedded development, which represented a starting point to learn about embedded programming in general.As for the main result, it was achieved by the successful development of the MOD Player, which is now running on the Lypson Game Engine. As the MOD files are of small size, the music player is more efficient when compared with those previously used.

We present a geometrical and mathematical solution to a problem faced in the glass industry in this work. Volume measurement of the glass gob is vital in making glassware. Geometric models were used to represent the glass gob.

A line scan camera system takes the images of the glass gob and the volume information of the glass gob is obtained by the image processing in the industry. This work is carried out to implement a simulator which estimates the change in the volume measurement of glass gob through line scan when it is rotated or when its shape is changed. A mixture of graphical and mathematical approaches is used to carry out this study. Geometric models have been used to represent the different gob models. Geometric models facilitate the manipulation of volumetric data.A simple and effective technique is used in this work. The problem is divided into steps. Volume measurement through a line scan technique is simulated. Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the technical analysis of the development of the currency pair GBP/USD. It is divided into theoretical and analytical part. The theoretical part is used to define the concepts of Forex market and the issue of exchange rates along with the trading terminology according to the relevant specialized literature and internet resources. There is characterized Forex and its subjects, described the main representatives of the kinds of technical indicators and basic graphic formations that can be commonly found in the charts. Analytical part focuses on the formulation of a business plan before the start of trading, as well as the detailed analysis of selected representatives of profitable and unprofitable transactions realized during the simulated trading on a demo account by Bossa FX for the period from October to December 2015. Afterwards there is tested the relation between the success of the realized transactions and used technical analysis tools. The result of the diploma thesis is the total retrospective evaluation of the simulated trading success rate. The output is the formulation of propositions and recommendations to help especially novice traders to make their trading as successful as possible.

Abstract:

En metod för detektering och kvantifiering av gamma-hydroxysmörsyra (GHB) i urin med gaskromatografi (GC) är framtagen på Sahlgrenska universitetssjukhuset. Metoden är relativt unik då den inte kräver upparbetning i form av derivatisering, indunstning eller extraktion. Urinen surgörs med koncentrerad saltsyra och internstandard, gamma-valerolakton, tillsätts. GHB övergår då till laktonformen, gamma-butyrolakton (GBL). Därefter injiceras provet direkt på en GC-FID med en kapillärkolonn för glykoler och alkoholer. Detektion ner till 100 μmol/L är möjligt med en variationskoefficient mellan 6 och 12 %. Provsvar erhålls efter 6,5 minuter. Metoden är dock inte fullständig då en del frågetecken kvarstår. Bland annat bör det undersökas om andra föreningar, som kan förekomma i urin, kan eluera samtidigt som GHB. Om ja så bör vidare analyser genomföras för att separera GHB och den andra föreningen. Metoden kan däremot användas i nuläget som en screeninganalys för att snabbt få ett svar på om GHB finns närvarande eller inte. Verifiering kan sedan ske med GC-MS.

A method for determination and quantification of gamma-hydroxyburyric acid (GHB) in urine samples is developed at Sahlgrenska universitetssjukhus. No time consuming procedures as derivatization and exctration is required, which makes the method fairly unique. Hydrochloric acid and internal standard, gamma-valerolakton, is added to the urine sample before the sample is injected to a gas chromatograph with a flame ionization detector and a column for glycols and alcohols. The hydrochloric acid makes the GHB convert into gamma-butyrolactone (GBL) which is easier to separate in the gas chromatograph. Limit of detection was found to be 100 μmol/L and test result is received after 6,5 minutes. There are still some question marks around the method, for example, there is a possibility that another substance elute at the same time as GHB. More tests are required to determine whether or not it is so. For now the method can be used as a screening analysis to hastily detect GHB presence. Verification can be done with GC-MS.

Ziel dieser Arbeit war es herauszufinden ob und wenn ja, welche ordnungs- und wirtschaftlichen Alternativen im Zuge der Wiedervereinigung Deutschlands existierten. Die erste Frage ist mit einem klaren ja zu beantworten. Einige der möglichen Alternativen wurden in Abschnitt 4 vorgestellt, weitere sind denkbar. Warum sie sich nicht durchsetzten ist im Einzelnen schwer zu sagen. Politische Entscheidungen werden in einem Spannungsfeld konkurrierender Interessen, äußerer Zwänge und machtpolitischer Überlegungen getroffen. Gegen einige Alternativen, wie z.B. Alternative 2 sprachen die äußeren Umstände, die drohende massive Migration von Ost nach West. Für andere Alternativen, wie z.B. Alternative 4 gab es wohl zu wenig Fürsprecher. Einige dieser aufgezeigten Wege erscheinen vom heutigen Standpunkt aus betrachtet die besseren Alternativen zu sein. Zweierlei sollte man bei solchen Überlegungen nie vergessen. Erstens, dass es ungleich schwerer ist, Fehler zu vermeiden als bereits gemachte Fehler zu erkennen. Und zweitens, welche enormen menschlichen, politischen und finanziellen Leistungen im Zuge der Deutschen Einheit erbracht wurden und auch heute noch erbracht werden. Auf das Erreichte können wir stolz sein.

La these debute par une esquisse syntaxique des langues Gbe qui prouve que ces langues sont de type SOV. Elle propose ensuite une analyse des constructions verbales serielles dans les langues Gbe a partir de l'hypothese que les langues naturelles peuvent avoir, en D-structure, des structures syntaxiques ou les categories V$\sp\circ$, V$\sp\prime$, VP et CP sont adjointes a V$\sp\prime$. L'existence de ces types d'adjonction est attestee a partir des series verbales, c'est-a-dire des enonces dans lesquels apparai t une sequence de deux lexemes verbaux pour former le predicat de la proposition. L'adjonction d'un V$\sp\circ$ a V$\sp\prime$ a ete attestee par l'existence de certains verbes qui ne peuvent recevoir aucun element de INFL mais qui expriment des aspects en se positionnant apres le verbe principal (et son complement). La position d'adjonction est justifiee, d'une part, par le fait que ces verbes agissent comme des complements qui viennent faire un apport semantique au verbe principal et d'autre part par l'etude du comportement de ces verbes par rapport a d'autres categories des langues Gbe. Les adjonctions d'un V$\sp\prime$ et d'un VP a V$\sp\prime$ ont ete etablies a partir d'un postulat descriptif qui permet de distinguer un V$\sp\prime$ d'un VP. L'idee est qu'une tete lexicale n'est pas toujours obligee de projeter jusqu'a la derniere projection maximale. On a une adjonction de V$\sp\prime$ quand la tete de ce V$\sp\prime$ est un verbe inaccusatif au sens de Burzio (1986). On a une adjonction de VP quand la tete est un verbe intransitif. L'adjonction d'un CP a trait a des cas ou une proposition entiere est percue comme un complement au verbe principal. Dans ces cas, C$\sp\circ$ (la tete de ce CP) est occupee par un morpheme specifique caracterise de morpheme de serialisation. Les constructions verbales serielles des langues Gbe ont ete analysees a partir de ces quatre types d'adjonction. Il a fallu d'abord distinguer une serialisation d'une auxiliation qui est le fait qu'un verbe, ordinairement plein, fonctionne dans certains contextes comme auxiliaire. Certaines formes d'adjonction impliquent la presence d'arguments nuls (sujet et objet) dans les constructions verbales serielles. Ces arguments nuls ont ete analyses comme etant de type pro et sont controles obligatoirement par des referents presents dans la phrase. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)

The synthesis of 3-carbomethoxy-1,4-dimethyl-acarboline (50a), 3-carbomethoxy-l-ethyl-4-methyl-~carboline(50b), 3-carbomethoxy-4-methyl-l-phenyl-acarboline(50c), 3-carbomethoxy-4-methyl-1-(2-pyridyl)$-carboline(50d), 3-carbomethoxy-1-(2-furyl)-4-methyl$-carboline(50f), 3-carbomethoxy-4-methyl-l-styryl-Scarboline(50g), 3-carbo-methoxy-4-methyl-1-(2-quinolyl)R-carboline(50h), 1-acethyl-3-carbomethoxy-4-methyl-SS-carboline(50i) and 3-carbomethoxy-1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)4-methyl-1-2-3-4-tetrahydro-S-carboline are described. Treatment of a-methyltryptophan methyl ester with acetaldehyde, propionaldehyde, benzaldehyde, pyridine carboxaldehyde, salicylaldehyde, furfural, cinnamaldehyde, quinolin carboxaldehyde or pyruvic aldehyde in aprotic solvents afforded the corresponding tetrahydro-S-carboline. These compounds were dehydrogenated in the presence of palladium-charcoal(10%) in refluxing xylene to give the S-carbolines. The percent yield, mp, nmr and it data are given for these compounds.In some cases it was noticed that all, or a portion of, the dehydrogenation reaction leading to the a-carboline occurs during the cyclization (50i). In addition, the stereoselective preparation of the starting material, S-methyltryptophan methyl esters, in a good yield is described.

Market research reports by In-Stat, Gartner, and the Swedish Post and Telecom Agency (PTS) reveal a growing worldwide demand for Voice over IP (VoIP) and smartphones. This trend is expected to continue over the coming years and there is wide scope for mobile VoIP solutions. Nevertheless, with this growth in VoIP adoption come challenges related with quality of service and security. Most consumer VoIP solution, even in PCs, analog telephony adapters, and home gateways, do not yet support media encryption and other forms of security. VoIP applications based on mobile platforms are even further behind in adopting media security due to a (mis-)perception of more limited resources. This thesis explores the alternatives and feasibility of achieving VoIP security for mobile devices in the realm of the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS).

Die vorliegende Habilitationsschrift befasst sich schwerpunktmäßig vor allem mit der Klinik und Therapie der Hepatitis C. Evaluiert wurden: 1. verschiedene therapeutische Strategien, 2. die Ursachen der "Non-Response" auf eine anti-virale Therapie sowie 3. die klinische Relevanz der neu entdeckten Hepatitis-assoziierten Viren und 4. ihre Bedeutung bei Patienten mit akuter bzw. chronischer Lebererkrankung unklarer Ätiologie sowie bei Patienten vor und nach Lebertransplantation. Ad 1. Aus dem Vergleich verschiedener Therapie-Konzepte wie der Kurzzeit- Kombinationstherapie, Triple-Therapie, Hochdosis-Interferon?-Therapie und der Anwendung antiviraler Substanzen wie Ribavirin und Amantadin ergaben sich neue Erkenntnisse hinsichtlich relevanter prognostischer Parameter für die Therapieresponse. Ad 2. Analysiert wurden die möglichen molekularen Mechanismen der Therapieresponse bzw. Non-Response sowie der Stellenwert von Interaktionen bestimmter HCV-Proteine (NS5A, E2, sogenannte PKR-eIF2a Phosphorylisations-Homologie-Domäne [PePHD]) mit den Interferon? induzierten Effektorproteinen. Es konnte gezeigt werden, daß die Anzahl der Mutationen innerhalb des NS5A Proteins einen prognostischen Parameter darstellen hinsichtlich der Response auf eine Interferon?-Therapie. Dagegen spielen Mutationen innerhalb der PePHD-Region keine Rolle. Ad 3. Aus den Untersuchungen zur klinischen Relevanz der neu entdeckten Hepatitis-assoziierten Viren GB Virus-C/Hepatitis G Virus (GBV-C/HGV) und TT-Virus (TTV) ergaben sich keine Hinweise bzgl. eines Einflusses von GBV-C/HGV bzw. TTV-Infektionen auf den Verlauf der chronischen Hepatitis C. Die durchgeführten Verlaufsuntersuchungen bei koinfizierten Patienten sprechen dafür, daß es sich um Interferon-sensitive Viren handelt; jedenfalls beeinflussen sie nicht die IFN?-induzierte Response. Ad 4. Untersucht wurden ferner die Prävalenz, Transmission und Relevanz der GBV-C/HGV und TTV-Infektion im Hinblick auf ihre Hepatitis-induzierenden Eigenschaften. Die Ergebnisse belegen, dass beide Viren parenteral übertragen werden, und dass sie eine hohe Prävalenz bei Patienten mit parenteralen Risikofaktoren besitzen. Eine Hepatitis-induzierende Potenz dieser Viren konnten wir nicht beobachten; bei der Mehrzahl aller chronisch infizierter Personen ließen sich keine Zeichen einer chronischen Hepatitis finden.
The major goal of this thesis is the analysis of the clinical outcome of patients with Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection and the response to therapy. Analysed were 1. different types of therapeutic strategies 2. causes responsible for ineffective antiviral therapy (non-response) 3. clinical relevance of the newly discovered hepatitis-associated viruses and 4. the role of these viruses in patients with acute or chronic hepatitis of unknown causes and in those receiving liver grafts. Ad 1. Compared were different therapeutic concepts such as short-term combination therapy, triple-therapy, high dose IFN?-therapy and the use of antiviral substances such as ribavirin and amantadine. It emerged that relevant prognostic parameters can be deduced with respect to the therapeutic response rate. Ad 2. Analysed were possible molecular mechanisms, which may interfere with response or non-response to antiviral therapy. In this respect, we focussed on the interaction of certain HCV-proteins as NS5A, E2, so-called PKR-eIF2a phosphorylisation-homology-domain (PePHD). with the interferon-?-induced effector proteins. There is evidence, that number of mutations within the NS5A proteins are of prognostic relevance with respect to the response to interferon?-therapy. In contrast, mutations within the PePHD-region do not play any role in this respect. Ad 3. We also studied the clinical relevance of the newly discovered viruses GBV-C/HGV and TTV, and found, that they have no impact concerning the course of chronic hepatitis C. These viruses are interferon-sensitive and do not influence the IFNa-response as it could be documented by following the course of co-infected patients. Ad 4. Our studies also focused on the prevalence, transmission and relevance of GBV-C/HGV and TTV infections with respect to their role as hepatitis-inducing agents. We can show that both virus types are parenterally transmitted. There is a high prevalence for both types in patients confronted with risk factors for parenteral factors. From analysis of many patients being chronically infected with these viruses it became quite clear that they lack any important potency to provoke chronic liver disease.

Social, economic and global changes make it difficult to predict what the future might hold. Creativity is one possible response to these changes. Indeed, creative skills enable students to face the complex nature of life. As a result, creativity has become significant in education, and is regarded as an important objective to be addressed in the curriculum. Nevertheless, creativity is not always promoted in schools. Rather, there are those who claim that many educational systems hinder creativity. Indeed, institutional pressures often prevent teachers from engaging in creative teaching practices. Furthermore, there is a lack of guidelines for helping teachers to adopt pedagogical strategies that foster creativity. Hence, the need has emerged for teachers to have models and tools for including creativity in their daily practices. In this context, the present study seeks to provide new models for promoting teachers’ and learners’ creativity. The thesis investigates the potential of Game-Based Learning (GBL) for promoting creative teaching practices. Indeed, digital games, when applied to educational contexts, can promote creative pedagogies: they have proved to enhance students’ intrinsic motivation towards learning; they are interactive systems which promote learning by doing processes; they also provide meaningful learning experiences by simulating highly interactive scenarios where students face real-world problems; finally, they provide risk-free environments which enable learners to explore and experiment. Literature identifies some barriers to the implementation of digital games in formal educational settings, such as the difficulty to reach a balance between fun and learning, as well as to align games with curriculum requirements. To tackle these obstacles, my research proposes an approach in which teachers create their own learning games, specially designed to reach their specific teaching outcomes. My study answers the following question: how can teachers’ creativity be enhanced by an approach where they design and apply their own learning games? It attempts to contribute to a greater comprehension of the phenomenon of creativity as applied in educational contexts, through a game design approach. It also aims to contribute to bridging the current literature gap regarding the possibilities of educational game design by teachers. Finally, it intends to provide educational practitioners with concrete examples of creative practices, based on innovative approaches in which teachers design their own educational resources. In the context of a multiple case study, nine Spanish primary and secondary school teachers designed their own learning games, especially tailored to their educational contexts, and applied them with their students. Within four cases, my research investigated teachers’ creativity according to three different dimensions: (a) process (the different stages of educational game design); (b) product (the learning games created); and (c) teaching (the practices at stake during the application of the games). My study proposes and validates the CEGAD model (Creative Educational GAme Design), which represents the different stages of educational game design by teachers, as well as the influences of the personal and environmental components, from the perspective of creativity. Furthermore, results show that many characteristics of creative pedagogies are supported by the game design approach. Finally, the research highlights the opportunities, facilitators and challenges to the approach, proposing new research directions in the field.
Los cambios sociales y económicos hacen que sea difícil predecir lo que el futuro puede deparar. La creatividad se considera una posible respuesta a estas transformaciones. Las capacidades creativas permiten a los estudiantes enfrentarse a la compleja naturaleza de la vida. La creatividad se ha convertido, así, en un concepto importante en la educación. Sin embargo, la creatividad no siempre se promueve en la escuela. Las presiones institucionales impiden que los profesores empleen prácticas de enseñanza creativa. Por lo tanto, surge la necesidad, para el profesorado, de tener modelos y herramientas para la integración de la creatividad en el aula. En este contexto, la presente investigación tiene como objetivo proporcionar nuevos modelos para el desarrollo de la creatividad del profesorado, y por ende, la del alumnado. La tesis investiga el potencial de las metodologías de aprendizaje basado en juegos para la promoción de prácticas de enseñanza creativa. En efecto, pueden promover pedagogías creativas, aumentando la motivación de los estudiantes hacia el aprendizaje y promoviendo procesos de aprendizaje activo. La literatura científica identifica algunas barreras para la implementación de videojuegos en contextos educativos formales, tal como la dificultad para llegar a un equilibrio entre la diversión y el aprendizaje, así como adecuar los juegos a los requisitos curriculares. Para superar estos obstáculos, esta investigación propone un enfoque en el que los profesores crean sus propios videojuegos educativos, especialmente diseñados para sus contextos de enseñanza. En un estudio de casos múltiples, nueve profesores y profesoras de educación primaria y secundaria diseñaron y realizaron sus propios videojuegos educativos y los aplicaron con sus alumnos. La tesis investiga la creatividad de los docentes en función de tres dimensiones distintas: (a) proceso (las diferentes etapas de diseño de videojuegos educativos), (b) producto (los videojuegos educativos creados), y (c) enseñanza (las prácticas de enseñanza durante la aplicación de los videojuegos en el aula). La tesis propone y valida el modelo CEGAD (Creative Eduducational GAme Design - diseño creativo de juegos educativos), que representa las diferentes etapas del diseño de videojuegos educativos por el profesorado. Además, los resultados ponen de manifiesto que el enfoque de diseño de videojuegos educativos potencia pedagogías creativas. Finalmente, la tesis destaca las oportunidades, facilitadores y retos propios de este enfoque.

Abstract:

Hemos analizado la variabilidad genética de una zona no codificante autosómica, el pseudogén homólogo al gen de la glucocerebrosidasa (psGBA).
Parte del análisis se ha realizado desde la perspectiva de la genética de poblaciones humanas.
Desde un punto de vista más genómico hemos establecido la dinámica de la región, a fin de entender las causas del espectro de variación. Hemos analizado el papel de la mutación, recombinación, conversión génica y, especialmente, selección.
Por otra parte, psGBA es importante en la producción de alelos complejos GBA-psGBA, que provocan los tipos más severos de la enfermedad de Gaucher. Mostramos cómo el conocimiento de la variabilidad en psGBA ayuda al reconocimiento de estos alelos complejos.
Finalmente, con los datos de variabilidad de dos regiones parálogas situadas en la misma región cromosómica (gen GBA / pseudogen psGBA) hemos comparado los patrones de mutación que presenta una misma secuencia bajo diferentes presiones selectivas.
We have analyzed the genetic variability in a non-coding autosomal region, the pseudogene homologous to the glucocerebrosidase gene (psGBA).
Part of the analysis has been performed from the human populations point of view.
From a more genomic perspective, we have established the region dynamics in order to understand the causes of the variability pattern. We have analyzed the role of mutation, recombination, gene conversion and, especially, selection.
On the other hand, psGBA is important in the production of complex alleles GBA-psGBA, that lead to the most severe types of Gaucher disease. We show how the knowledge of psGBA variability helps to the identification of those complex alleles.
Last, from the variability data from two paralogous regions located in the same chromosomal region (GBA gene /psGBA pseudogene) we have compared the mutation patterns shown by the same sequence under different selective pressures.

Abstract:

Gamma hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) is a metabolite of gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA) and considered as a natural neurotransmitter found in the brain in low concentrations. GHB has been used in general anaesthesia and is currently used to treat narcolepsy and alcoholism. The abuse of GHB, especially in date rape sexual assaults, has increased in recent years. GHB has a rapid rate of metabolism causing it to disappear quickly making criminal cases often difficult to prosecute. This study is aimed at extending the window of detection of GHB beyond 12 hours through finding robust surrogate markers of GHB exposure in cell lines. Two approaches were used: Agilent SurePrint G3 Human 8x60K arrays were used firstly to detect changes in gene expression in human monocytic leukaemia TH-P1 blood cells after 24hours GHB exposure and the two-dimensional gel electrophores (2-DGE) were used secondly to find proteomic changes in THP-1 and in two brain cell lines (SH-SY5Y and 1321N1 cells) after 24 h GHB exposure. The results show that 900 μM GHB induces an alteration in 2380 genes (P<0.05 and a fold change of >2) and the Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis showed that the largest numbers of the altered genes were in the intracellular and membrane parts of the cell. In terms of GO molecular functions, the majority of altered genes code for proteins and nucleotide binding sites, and some of the altered genes encode steroid dehydrogenase enzymes. Furtheremore, the results of 2-DGE revealed that 900 μM GHB in THP-1 cells and 100 μM GHB in brain cells used were induced alteration in proteins after 24h exposure, some of altered proteins were glycolytic enzymes and chaperones. This information may be useful in forensic toxicology.

A presente dissertação é resultado do esforço reflexivo para compreender a denominada Região Urbana GAB que engloba as regiões metropolitanas de Goiânia-Brasília e do Aglomerado Urbano de Anápolis, buscando mostrar a consolidação e a territorialização das ações dos agentes hegemônicos que se apropriam para produzir e (re) produzir o capital nessa região. Contudo, como a apropriação ocorre de maneira desigual e combinada nos municípios-sede, o estudo parte de uma análise aprofundada das especificidades dessas localidades e a importância delas para a Região Urbana GAB. O recorte espacial tem como referência o município goiano de Alexânia, que possui polarização média em relação a Brasília e uma significativa interação econômica com Goiânia e Anápolis. De uma forma mais específica, a análise é pautada no crescimento da economia e na expansão do polo de bebidas que tem modificado o perfil econômico de Alexânia e suas relações com os outros municípios. Para tanto, este estudo apoia-se no conceito de região refuncionalizado por meio da reflexão política. Como aporte teórico-metodológico utilizam-se entrevistas e questionários aplicados em órgãos administrativos do governo do estado de Goiás, como a Agência Goiana de Desenvolvimento Regional (AGDR) e a Secretaria de Estado do Planejamento e Desenvolvimento (SEPLAN/GO) além de órgãos da Prefeitura de Alexânia. Também são analisadas informações do banco de dados do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE) e da SEPLAN e, as referências teóricas acerca do conceito de região, regionalização, urbanização e modernização agrícola. Ao analisar os agentes hegemônicos que atuam na Região Urbana GAB, a pesquisa identifica como eles homogeneizam, por meio da apropriação e da reprodução, os reais beneficiários da arena política em questão, camuflando as mazelas sociais, as fragmentações territoriais e os processos de territorialização. Esta exposição identifica, ainda, como a delineação da política regional goiana está a serviço das estratégias dos agentes hegemônicos, para os quais desenvolvimento é sinônimo de competitividade, ou seja, apenas determinadas regiões poderão atingir o sucesso econômico. _______________________________________________________________________________________ RÉSUMÉ
Cette thèse est le résultat de l'éffort réflexif pour comprendre ce qu'on appelle la Région Urbaine GAB, qui comprend les régions métropolitaines de Goiânia- Brasília et de l' Agglomération Urbaine d'Anápolis, en cherchant démontrer la consolidation et la territorialisation des actions des agents hégémoniques qui s' approprient pour produire ou reproduire le capital dans cette région. Toutefois, comme I'appropriation se produit de manière inégale et combinée dans les municipalités-sièges, l'étude commence par une analyse approfondie des spécificités de ces localités et de ces importances pour la Région Urbaine GAB. Le découpage spacial a comme reférence la ville de Goiás Alexânia, qui a une polarisation moyenne par rapport à Brasília et une bonne interaction économique avec Goiânia et Anápolis. D'une manière plus spécifique, I'analyse est réglée par la croissance de l'économie et par l'expansion du pôle de boissons qui ont modifié le profil économique d'Alexânia et ses relations avec les autres municipalités. Par conséquent, cette étude est basée sur le concept de région refonctionalisé à travers la réflexion politique. Comme support théoriques et méthodologiques sont utilisés des entrevues et des questionnaires appliqués aux services administratifs du gouvernement de Г État de Goiás, comme le Goiás Agence pour le Développement Régional (AGDR) el le Secrétariat de l' État de Projéction et de Développement (SEPLAN / GO) en outre des organes de la Mairie d' Alexânia. Sont également analysés des informations de la base de données de l' Institut Brésilien de Géographie et de Statistique (IBGE) et de la SEPLAN et, les fondements théoriques sur le concept de région, la régionalisation, I'urbanisation et la modernisation agricole. En analysant les agents hégémoniques qui travaillent sur la Région Urbaine GAB, la recherche identifie la façon dont ils homogénéisent, au moyen de l' appropriation et de la reproduction, les bénefices réels de l'arène politique en question, en camouflant ainsi tous les mots sociaux, les fragmentations territoriales et les processus de territorialisation. Cette exposition identifie encore, comme la délimitation de la politique régional de Goiás est au service des stratégies des agents hégémoniques, dont le développement est synonyme de compétitivité, à savoir, seules certaines régions déterminées pourraient atteindre le succès économique.

Le fon - gbe est la langue des fon de la republique du benin (dahomey) en afrique occidentale. Le parler fon d'abomey decrit compte environ 550 000 locuteurs. Apres une introduction qui situe l'importance de la langue fon dans son contexte, cette etude complete du fon - gbe reprend et approfondit sa phonologie, sa syntagmatique, ses fonctions, y ajoute une description detaillee de ses enonces et de son lexique avant de conclure par l'esquisse d'une anthologie de sa litterature orale
Fon - gbe is the language spoken by the fon in the republic of benin (former dahomey) in west africa. The described fon language of abomey counted about 550 000 native speakers. After an introduction which deals with the importance of fon language in its context, this complete work of the "fon - gbe" resumes and goes deeper into its phonology, its syntagmatic and its fonctions. It also adds a detailed description of its utterance and lexis before concluding with the beginnings of a anthology of its oral literature

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je zaměřena na technickou analýzu měnového trhu s důrazem na klouzavé průměry a na nich založené indikátory. Jejím cílem je zjistit, zda je možné jednotlivé aspekty technické analýzy úspěšně využít na trhu. První část diplomové práce je věnována chartrové analýze a testování úspěšnosti aplikace svícových vzorů v praxi. Druhá a třetí kapitola zkoumá vybrané indikátory na základě analýzy zisku a spolehlivosti.
