Abstract:
Delimitation of genera in Blechnaceae Newman (1844: 8), a subcosmopolitan fern family with ca. 250 species, has remained uncertain for a long time. During the last decade, evidence has been accumulating about the polyphyletism within Blechnum Linnaeus (1753: 1077) (e.g. Shepherd et al. 2007, Rothfels et al. 2012, Gabriel y Galán et al. 2013, Perrie et al. 2014). Recent molecular studies (Gasper et al. 2016a) lead to an updated classification attempting to put morphological characters into a natural, phylogenetic relation (Gasper et al. 2016b). Because of these changes, the species most people associate with the genus Blechnum, B. spicant (Linnaeus 1753: 1066) Roth (1794: 56), is now treated under Struthiopteris Scopoli (1754: 25).

Abstract:
This diploma thesis aims to analyze and interpret the entire filmography of the Argentinian-born (1963) film-maker Gaspar Noe. It takes into account not only such well-known, critically acclaimed, and controversially received films as Seul contre tous (1998) and Irréversible (2002), but also Noe's short movies, commercial spots, and music videos. The thesis examines the central themes of Noe's cinema, among them, the relationship between sexuality and violence, revenge and its consequences, the individual standing against society. It describes in detail Noe's film language, traces the development of that language, and suggests where to look in the history of film for material that sheds light on the work of this remarkable French film-maker.

Abstract:
Gaspar Noé, a French-Argentine director, is known for the controversial themes and scenes in his filmography, where violence is the first thing that stands out. However, other elements can be identified that have equal relevance in the structure of his films. The human body is one of them. Noé presents the pleasure and suffering of his characters closely so that the viewer perceives them first-hand. He seeks to shock the viewer with scenes that are difficult to see and hear. The director exhibits things in a transgressive way to show the malaise that exists within France. This thesis offers a study on the construction of reality in cinema, the representation of French society, the New French Extremism and the social, political and economic context of France, which will allow a better understanding of its environment, the audiovisual language that uses and the references that have influenced his style. Likewise, these points will serve as the basis for analyzing the director's filmography. The analysis carried out shows that Gaspar Noé, from the beginning, exhibits a pessimistic reality that is reinforcing it over the years by showing a society that is crumbling, unhappy people whose actions are irreversible and the inevitability of destiny. This study enriches realism in film, incorporating the unconventional reality of Gaspar Noé.

Fontana, Dominique. "Lorand Gaspar : une poétique du désert." Chambéry, 1996. http://www.theses.fr/1996CHAML006.

Full text
Abstract:
For Lorand Gaspar traveller, the desert is a measure space he has actually experienced. It holds a major place in his whole work, where it is a setting, a theme and a source of image at the same time. Yet, it's at basis of a real poetic inspiration and it's used to give a meaning to writing, whose many paradoxes but stress the basically dynamic characteristic. The ruptures, the fadings, the metamorphosis are the very conditions of Lorand Gaspar's poetic inspiration. They are the necessary insalance guaranteeing the resurrection of writing. After contributing to the emergence of a poetic inspiration based on approach, the vastness of desert becomes an experimental learning of area. The desert and the imagination are two equally real spaces and they have the same structure, the same scheme. By desert, through desert, thanks to the desert, [. . . ] the texts "are" life and creation

Souki, Jihen. "Poétique et géopoétique de Lorand Gaspar." Thesis, Sorbonne Paris Cité, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015USPCA079.

Full text
Abstract:
Lorand Gaspar’s poetry bears a constant variety that resists the development of a fixed form. It thereby seems to allow for the hypothesis of a "poetics of motion" which echoes the poet’s immanence-based conception of the world, occurred to him since his childhood and fostered over the years of experience. Strongly pointing at an analogical relationship with the neuronal system, which accounts for our reading of a "neuropoetics", this kinetic poetics, woven in the intricate stylistics of a "discontinuous continuity", is likely infused with an adverse poetics, both contradicting and complementing it, which seems to tend towards the specific forms of a peculiarly chosen geography. Informed by a forceful theme of the relief and the fundamental experience of nature in Gaspar’s life, this "geotropic" theory means to display the aesthetic making up of a "poetic relief", or, of a geopoetics, a word that conveys the ingraining of geology into the form of the poem. Lorand Gaspar’s poetics, which is essentially contrastive, would bring together those two linguistic movements, this tense interplay between the finite and the infinite, which shows that Gaspar’s poem does not merely spring up to the world, but is, in itself, a world where the subject, through the poetic invention, also tends to break free from the infinite "movement" in which he is involved

Alburaki, Ilham. "L’altérité chez Frenaud, Guillevic et Gaspar." Thesis, Lyon 2, 2009. http://www.theses.fr/2009LYO20057/document.

Full text
Abstract:
At first sight, our three poets Frénaud, Gaspar, and Guillevic are different by their stories and origins. However, what gathers them above all is that they three had met the roads of poetry and drawn theirs in, with all what differentiates and assembles them at the same moment, with the specificity of each and his poetical universe as well as in their insatiable quest of otherness. An otherness which constitutes a part of life through the others, whatever this otherness is - an otherness and a subject between whom the borders are vague - an otherness as well in the poetical language always trying to assume the paradoxes. A language or a writing for which the three men opted, that they adopted and which made of them three important poets of the twentieth century. This thesis aims at highlighting and at underlining the faces of the otherness, the relationship between the "I" poet and these faces, their importance and that of our relationship with them for a better experience and understanding of life. A relationship which changes the data and the conventional ideas about the identity of the "I" poet, about the reality and the importance of the Other in our life, what is thus reflected here particularly in the very words and the poetical works of our poets. That kind of relationship restores new dress in notions or terms like lyricism, chant, the "self", etc. always considered in light of a close link and relationship with the Other

Full text
Abstract:
The tightness characterization of gaskets used in static seal applications, such as bolted flanged connections, is achieved by performing leakage tests with a single fluid, usually a gas like helium. Attempts made in the past to predict gasket leakage with other gases had limited success unless the leak flow regime through the gasket was predominately laminar, which is not the case with most of the gaskets. In this work, a new gasket leak flow model that combines both molecular and laminar flow regimes is developed to predict the gasket leak rate under different pressures and with different gases. The Laminar-Molecular Flow (LMF) model is first constructed around a reference pressure for which the fraction of the total leakage that occurs through laminar flow channels is established. This fraction is computed using a simple leakage test performed with one gas and at least two different pressures. The model is then tested against experimental leak data obtained from two different gaskets and four gases and is shown to produce accurate predictions.

In addition, the effects of temperature on the sealing performance were examined by using an actual pipe flange connection with spiral wound gasket under elevated temperature. By using the calculated contact stress distributions and the results of the leakage tests, the sealing performance was evaluated.

Abstract:
The design and preliminary performance of a multi layer metal cylinder head gasket with integrated 1.7mm diameter combustion pressure sensors is described. The pressure sensors are either removable from the gasket without need for engine head removal or permanently fixed to the gasket. The gasket design is suitable for all sizes and types of internal combustion engines including gasoline, diesel, or alternative fuel, with peak pressures ranging from 100bar to 350bar. The sensors’ diaphragms are positioned semi-flush with the gasket surface exposed to combustion gasses while the sensors’ sealing surfaces are located 5mm-7mm from the diaphragms. The devices miniature signal conditioners are mounted inside a gasket extension protruding beyond the engine block. The miniature fiber optic pressure sensor operates on the principle of light intensity changes transmitted by two fibers upon reflection from a metal diaphragm deflecting under the effect of cylinder pressure. Preliminary test results are reported here collected on a 4-cylinder gasoline engine demonstrating good agreement with a reference transducer. When optimized, it is expected that a gasket integrated sensor will offer the accuracy of +/-1.5% enabling advanced engine controls based on Indicated Mean Effective Pressure (IMEP), Mass Fraction Burned (MFB), Peak Pressure as well as control of pilot fuel injection and virtual Mass Air Flow and NOx sensing.

Abstract:
The present work deals with theoretical and experimental studies of gaseous flow through tight gasket. The paper presents an innovative approach to accurately predict and correlate leak rates of several gases through nano-porous gaskets. The new approach is based on the calculation of the gasket porosity parameters (DH, N) using a model based on a first order slip flow regime. The model assumes the flow to be continuum but employs a slip boundary condition on the channel wall. Experimental measured gas flow rates were performed on gaskets with a microscopic flow rate range and isothermal steady conditions. The flow rate is accurately measured using multi-gas mass spectrometers. The gasket porosity parameters in the developed leakage rate formula were obtained experimentally for a reference gas (helium) for each stress level. In the presence of these statistical properties of a porous media the leak rates for different gases can be predicted with reasonable accuracy. It was found that the approach that considers the slip flow with the first order combined to the molecular flow covers the prediction of flow rates at the microscopy level and down to 10−8 mg/s very well.

Abstract:
The prediction of leak rate through porous gaskets for different gases based on test conducted on a reference gas can prevent bolted joint leakage failure and save the industry a lot of money. This work gives a basic comparison between different gas flow models that can be used to predict leak rates through porous gasket materials. The ability of a model to predict the leak rate at the micro and nano levels in tight gaskets relies on its capacity to incorporate different flow regimes that can be present under the different working conditions. Four models based on Navier-Stokes equations and incorporate the boundary conditions of the appropriate flow regime considered. The first and second order slip, diffusivity and molecular flow models are used to predict and correlate leak rates of gases namely helium, nitrogen, SF6, methane, argon and air passing through three frequently used nanoporous gasket materials which are flexible graphite, PTFE and compressed fiber. The methodology is based on the determination experimentally of the porosity parameter (N and R) of the micro channels assumed to simulate the leak paths present in the gasket using helium as the reference gas. The predicted leak rates of different gases at the different stresses and pressure levels are confronted to the results obtained experimentally by measurements of leak rates using pressure rise and mass spectrometry techniques. The results show that the predictions depend on the type of flow regime that predominates. Nevertheless the second order slip model is the one that gives better agreements with the measured leaks in all cases.
