Abstract:
The monograph presents methods for calculating the dehydration of wet granular materials in industrial centrifuges, filter presses and vacuum filters under the influence of gravitational forces, as well as by purging the granular layer with dry air with elevated temperature; physical and mathematical models of gas absorption and the theory of capturing submicron dust by condensation in foam, centrifugal bubbling apparatus and hollow nozzle scrubbers, packing columns and tubular absorbers; physical and mathematical models of dry adsorption of gases in packing columns and flues by injecting a dispersed adsorbent into the flow are presented, a method for determining the phase equilibrium constants of sorption processes based on the developed models is proposed; physical and mathematical modeling and analysis of the combustion process of dispersed solid ash fuel in a four-stage cyclone gorenje is carried out. the furnace. It can be useful in the educational process for a number of specialties, in particular thermal power engineering, chemical-technological, metallurgical profiles, environmentalists, as well as for researchers and graduate students and in engineering practice.

Lei, Yuan. Humidification, Nebulization, and Gas Filtering. Oxford University Press, 2017. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/med/9780198784975.003.0006.

Abstract:
‘Humidification, Nebulization, and Gas Filtering’ describes the therapies, which, while not essential to ventilation, are frequently applied together with it. This chapter provides a comprehensive discussion of these devices, including the clinical needs for them and their operating principles, options, and common complications. It describes the composition and operating principle of active heated humidifiers. Artificial humidification brings with it the additional issue of circuit rainout, which may require that heated wires be added to the breathing circuit. The chapter includes a table for troubleshooting issues related to active humidification. Heat and moisture exchangers or HMEs, an alternative to humidifiers, are also discussed. Finally, the chapter turns to the use of in-line nebulizers or aerosol therapy. The chapter ends with a discussion of respiratory gas filtering, which, for all the benefit a bacteria filter brings, also introduce the risk of occlusion.

Ellam, Rob. 6. Measuring isotopes. Oxford University Press, 2016. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/actrade/9780198723622.003.0006.

Abstract:
Mass spectrometers have become routine laboratory instruments in many disciplines. ‘Measuring isotopes: mass spectrometers’ concentrates on those used to quantify the abundance of different isotopes—gas source isotope ratio, thermal ionization, inductively coupled plasma, and secondary ion mass spectrometers. A mass spectrometer can be used to quantify the concentration of a particular element by monitoring an isotope of that element not overlapped by isotopes of other elements. All mass spectrometers have three essential components: an ion source, a mass filter, and a detector. There are two main types of detector: Faraday detectors measure large signals and a variant of photomultiplier tubes measures small isotope signals.
