Abstract:
The documentary film is considered as a proper audio-visual medium for documenting traditions, but it has both advantages and challenges. Both issues explained in the paper based on the experience of making a cultural event documentary film of the Gamkonora people (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCewhQOaNOk). This annual tradition held on the first day of every Eid al-Fitr by the Gamkonorans who live with other ethnic groups in West Halmahera Municipal, North Moluccas Province. This film is relatively effective in raising Gamkonoran identity awareness among the people, compared to language documentation in the form of a printed book or digital which requires a long process that spends much more energy. It is implied through comments on movies in social media and several films which produced spontaneously by young Gamkonorans through Youtube channels. In addition, discussions about the existence of the Gamkonora people are also present on social media such as Facebook, both in Ternate-Malay and Gamkonora languages. Besides the claims of documentary film effectiveness, it requires considerable preparation. Firstly, Gamkonora research team has done two years field researches and has done long discussion with movie crews before and after footages taking process. A researcher who took the role as a leader should have a storyline which is understandable by the film crews to guide them during footage takes. Another thing that should be done before is maintaining intensive communication with the four villages leaders of Gamkonoran (Gamkonora, Talaga, Tahafo, and Gamsungi villages), tua-tua adat, and key informants. Overall, among those complex processes, the most crucial aspect is deciding Dodengo as the tradition which touches every single Gamkonoran heart since it not only expressing their annual tradition, but also identity. It hoped that they realize how crucial their identity and they should do something to continue their existence. Thus, the documentary tradition of an ethnic group is a powerful medium to convey the message of their existence among the society that contains challenges, from the process before, during shooting, to the editing process to get the final result.

Abstract:
The Gamkonora people are an ethnic group in Indonesia whose members have an outstanding linguistic ability: they are able to speak more than two languages, that is, two or more of Gamkonora, Ternatan-Malay, Ternate, andBahasa Indonesia. The use of these languages is related to the residual traces of the powers that have ruled the area in the history of North Maluku: the Ternate sultanate, European colonialists and Indonesian central government since independence. Re?ecting on the current language behaviour of the Gamkonoran younger generation, which tends to be the Indonesian language (read Malay); the authors question how far the Gamkonorans Indonesian language ability has in?uenced their Gamkonoran language and culture. Through ethnographic studies, the authors found that two languagesIndonesian and Gamkonoranhave di?erent roles in their culture. Therefore, the language shift toBahasa Indonesia by Gamkonoran youth will not replace the Gamkonoran language because the use of their tribal language is supported by their traditional institutions.

Abstract:
The tectonic complexity in the Maluku region is caused by the interaction of the three main platesin this area, namely: the Philippine Plate, the Australian Plate, and the Eurasian Plate. The origin of volcanic rock-forming material from Jailolo Mount., Sahu Mount., Gamkonora Mount., and Ibu Mount. in West Halmahera Regency is the aim of this study. Petrographic, trace elements, rare earth elements analysis are also used to study rock formation processes and correlations between sample groups. Bipolar microscope and Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry of the Center for Geological Survey Laboratory are the analytical devices used in this study. Almost all samples are classified as andesite based on the comparison of the quartz, K-feldspar, and plagioclase compositions. There is a possibility of mixing between oceanic crust and continental crust of the studied Holocene volcanic which is indicated by La/Yb versus Nb/La diagrams. Fractional crystallization is considered more influential in rock formation compared to partial melting. The effect of plagioclase fractionation on the four volcanic rock groups is shown by the Y versus Sr/Y diagram and rare earth spider diagram patterns. Increased levels of rare earths in samples from G. Gamkonora and G. Sahu are strongly influenced by crystallization of plagioclase during rock formation.Key words: volcanic rocks, petrography, geochemistry, West Halmahera

Abstract:
Abstract This research aims to determine the fatigue life of the structure near the chain stopper of a storage tanker using the spectral fatigue analysis method. The wave spectrum is developed based on six significant wave height and period variations from the site wave scatter data using a modified spectrum of JONSWAP. The stress analysis is carried out using finite element analysis software. It can then be processed into Stress RAO from each loading direction. The response spectra are generated from the wave spectrum, multiplying with the square of the Stress RAO. These response spectra will determine the stochastic values of each stress range variation in obtaining the number of cycles that occur in each variation (nL). The accumulation of each ratio obtained from all existing variations will produce a fatigue index value (D). The American Bureau of Shipping’s S-N curve D-Class is used in this fatigue life analysis. The Gamkonora Aframax tanker operated as a temporary storage tanker at Papa’s field area is used as the case of this study.
